About as many people showed up to this rally as there were at those teabagging rallies...erm, sorry, 'teaparties'.

Im suprised, since so many consertatives on here were all about the tea parties because they were about keeping FREEDOM!!!!, but they didnt mention anything about an equally as large march on the capitol in favor of actual freedom.

Anyway. Anyone go? Does anyone think it will have an effect?

However, we shouldn't demonize them like alot of online liberals are, for they are promoting America's wonderful system of right to protest/right to free speech. Clearly they are upset and are taking advantage of our constitution. Plus, it's better than rioting.

I think hes talking about teabaggers.

no, and no.

The gov't doesn't give a shit about little protests. When votes come in against it, on a large scale, maybe, but not until then.

Oh it's typical of the fringe media, liberal blogs, liberal occupied forums and left-leaning people won't bother to talk about such things because they want to shut those people down, the real American people down.

Talk about freedom you piss off liberals, Communists, Socialists and Fascists. Um...ok who cares? If they don't like it they can leave their citizenship at the door. I was at one of those teaparties and you saw all walks of life there. Republicans, Conservatives, Independents and even Democrats.

It's all a double standard. You can only praise Obama but if you so much as question him you're villianized, belittled, called a racist, a bigot and every name in the book. I thought this was America, not Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union.

Comments like this are why you are laughed at. Apperantly uneducated redneck bumpkins are 'real 'merikans'.

Despite how it may have come off, this thread isnt about teabaggers, Ill edit my OP.

You know we're talking about a Gay Pride parade, right?

Who is villainizing you for questioning what Obama does? A small percent of people actually believe everything Obama does is right, and a small percent of people believe that everything he does is wrong.

You are aware that liberals are typically in favor of gay rights whereas conservatives typically are against gay rights, no?

seriously though, does anyone think gay rights will be a national issue, as in, a proposed amendment to the constitution anytime soon?

EDIT: yay, I'm not an envoy any more.

Probably not, I would actually say that it is already protected by the Constitution, we just need a judge that is willing to spend the political capital to share in that opinion...

And Im still saddened that it actually works that way...

Yes, so were blacks and women, ostensibly, but it took a couple amendments to make it happen, and I think it will be the same way with gays as it was with them.

True, but, its precisely those Amendments that I think would extend protection to them...Beyond that, the process of getting an amendment is alot more difficult than simply taking it to the Supreme Court, I mean, look at Prop 8, :?

last time I checked, prop 8 was supported by the Cali supreme court (rightfully so), and hasn't managed to make its way to the US supreme court, so I can see it taking just about as long as an amendment might.

Well, what I was referring to with Prop 8 is the difficulty getting majority support, which would be required for an Amendment I believe...

But, youre right it would take awhile to get it there as well...For the life of me I dont understand why, :?
