Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal

Postby Ranbo » Sat Oct 22, 2011 6:01 am

First things first:I know I'm too old to have an Intrest, but I have an addiction I can't stop. Yu-Gi-Oh! fills me with excitement, when er I hol the cards, and watch the TV show. Sad, isn't it?

Leading to the next topic, recently, Komami came out with the next gerneration of Yu-Gi-Oh: Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal.

Watching it for the first time, I couldn't help but to think that the characters in the series looked way younger than their predecessors. Still in school, they were shrimps compared Yusei or Joey.

While the new cards were awesome, the eyepieces the they wore made it seem like a cheap rip-off of Dragonball Z.

All in all, I'll watch the second episode, but I don't have high hopes for the series. If any fans could come out of the woodwork, and voice their opinions, it would be appreciated.

However, I don't want this to turn into a 'You still watch Yu-Gi-Oh? You're stupid' kind of thread. I've been told that enough, and I don't need that here.

Thank you. (I wouldn't be surprised if Yu-Gi-Owe shows up and comments. )

I'm afraid to watch it. It might rape my childhood.

How does it compare with Yu-gi-oh 5ds?

I agree. It doesn't look very entertaining. I too, get a great feeling when I use Yu-Gi-Oh cards and watch GX and 5d's. They're my favorites.

The Three Kings were something, weren't they? I'm waiting for Zexal to introduce the first evil dude. Shark turned out to be a good guy after all.

Honestly, I haven't watched past the first series. I just never cared enough to watch GX of 5Ds. I've wanted to, but everything else just got in the way. :/

I'm kind of surprised that Zexal is already translated. Didn't it just come out in Japan a short while ago? Or am I simply getting confused by this whole complicated "time" thing?

I don't know. The cards came out about a month ago. Not really into Fish, but the Heroes are awesome.

Me too.

Yu-Gi-Oh! shows were actually surprisingly good, despite the overall shit that the end of the first was.

The anime was ruined for me when I was a child... :( Stupid 4Kids TV and their complete change of the storyline...

I still love the cards, though :P Still fun to play with some friends every once in a while lol.

I agree, the Soviet Union epitomized capitalism.

I mean, USSR? What's more capitalist than that? Four capitals, all in a row!

Yu-Gi-Oh! is still around? I stopped paying attention half-way through the GX series.

For a children's show, the character design in Yu-gi-oh is very sexualized.

Seriously. Maybe that's why you like it so much. ;)

Honestly, I'm a fan. Always have been ever since the US release of the original. However, while GX was great, I started to have issues around the second half of 5d's. Honestly, the traditional elements that made the series what it was where dieing... not that the new stuff wasn't good, but it wasn't Pegasus/ YUBEL/ The series they never even showed in the US because it was too dark good. The characters have become progressively less complex, mostly. The second movie was good, but I think the new series needs to do some serious turnover if it wants to stay relevant.

I remember when you knew who the bad guy was, it was the creepy bug pedo, and you knew that Joey was better than the spikey haired weirdo with an old man living inside him or something.

They were better times, they were simpler times.

Also May Valentine or something :v

Dude. Only one girl hangs out with a group of 4 boys (Yami Yugi included). And she wears shorts shorts, not to mention she has an obsession over their friendship.

You can't tell me that's not sexual. Seriously.

I'm afraid to watch it. I have a feeling, based on the second half of 5Ds, that it will be terrible. Add in the fact that it centers around small children, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Wow, I would have expected at least one "CHILDREN'S CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES!" by now once 5ds got mentioned. :lol2: Not really a fan, per se (though I do watch LK's abridged series.) I keep meaning to read the manga, but stuff gets in the way.

Actually, from what my brother tells me, it's not bad. It's just more aimed at a younger audience. You know how everyone from Yami Yugi up to Yusei Fudo almost always win? But when Yuma appeared, he sucked at dueling; however, when the first ten episodes passed, he started to get better, and doesn't suck. You know, like how you start a game that you played, but suck at it, and when time passes, you gradually get better over time? It's sort of like that.
