Paradise Found (ATTN New Hayesalia)

Postby Zellatia » Sat Oct 15, 2011 11:01 pm

Outside the newly built Villa de Zelaton, Wastrova Island

Emperor Zellan III Destroniki was bored. Now, despite the fact he did enjoy the beach, his children, who were playing in the sand, didn't exactly need him to have fun. In fact, whenever he tried to go over there, to the part of the beach they were playing at, they would gigle and run away. He would, of course, chase them, trying to hold in his laugh as he did so, but he would always trip over something, and that was no fun, especially when they began to jump up and down on him. His manservant, Zeeves, was of course watching them, as were a few snipers in the villa above in case of attempted kidnapping or murder. He could just leave, as he trusted all of the people here on the villa, as well as the coast guard he had detailed here. He needed to perhaps, go about the town. However, his bodyguards were... less then into the idea. So he made a deal. They could have the day off in the town nearby, whatever it was called, and they would have to be within a mile of him at all times. They, of course, readily agreed, with one of the more serious bodyguards refusing unless he was nearby the Emperor at all times.

And so the Emperor and his bodyguards entered town, first looking for a place to eat lunch. So many choices. This was a resort town after all, so there were plenty of different types of resteraunts. There was a local resteraunt that offered plenty of different seafoods and tropical fruits, but he had been there yesterday. There was an Italian resteraunt, but he had been there two days ago, and sort of made a mess. It wasn't his fault that his children liked dueling with lobster claws and like wearing pasta hair was it? His rented car, yes he didn't actually have one imported nor did he hire a limosine, arrived at the resteraunt of his choice. It was more of a specialty resteraunt, where the dining area was actually below the water, with a thick glass seperating the ocean from the room. After being seated he listfully stared at the various fish, noting the variety and colors and he waited for the waiter or whatever aproach him. Then again, the way that this resteraunt was set up he might be set upon by someone wanting to sit across from him, but that never mattered to him. He currently looked like a tourist, with his jeans and Tigarian(Think Hawaiian but with paw shapes instead of flowers) styled shirt, although his bodyguard made him look like some kind of diplomat on vacation.

(Note: The New Hayesalian accent is a South African one)

The resort towns in Watrova, like Irilias, were well renown. For every one of the laid back locals who basked in the sunshine of this tropical paradise there were at least five tourists, whether they were New Hayesalian or not. It was pretty relaxed, and the police here often said "We'll deal with 100 tourists beating somebody up before we give a speeding ticket to a local."

Of course, the police were still intelligent and able to do their jobs, and they were well known as a friendly bunch by the local. If the code of conduct didn't call for police to have BAC of 0 while on duty, they'd probably sit down, look over the bay and have a beer. Of course, there was a reason they put duffel bags in the back seats of their standard issue Mitsubishi Evolution X police cars.

It was a harbour town, not one of the massive ring cities like in most New Hayesalian provinces. It was a sleepy vialla, only about 10,000 locals. It was quiet, all the time. Funny enough then that the Zellatian Emperor had bought a villa for Ќ200,000,000. Of course, two hundred million Quats only roughly translated into $40,000,000, one Quat worth 20 cents. The low prices kept bringing in tourists, and the citizens of New Hayesalia still lived quite happily despite their self-imposed inflation.

The emperor today was visiting the Undersea, which was logically, under the sea embedded in the coral reef. Scuba divers were paid by the restaurant to put bait and other fishy treats near the glass but out of view of the guests to see a multitude of colours. The restaurant itself offered classic New Hayesalian fare- a variety of rum, tropical fruit and fish, seafood, berries and what seemed like an entire menu full of stuff where the main ingredient was mango. Mango was a main export of New Hayesalia, but it was calculated that if New Hayesalians consumed 10% less the prices would fall on the international market by over 40%.

It was just after rush hour, where sunburnt tourists came in searching to graze after varying degrees of success surfing at a cove about fifteen minutes off the main beach or snorkelling the remarkably shallow waters of the beach. At high tide you could walk out over two hundred metres into the coral reefs and still be able to stand on the ground- not that you were allowed to stand on the corals, and the tour guides yelled at you if you did.

There was a brunette at the other table. She read aan aircraft magazine which depicted an F-220 Diablo in Zellatian colours on the front, with the heading-"ZELLAN'S DIABLOS: WILL GARRISSON BUY THE F-220 OR IS THE EMPEROR TAKING NEW CLOTHES"

Funny, considering the man sitting looking straight at the magazine...

Zellan noted the women seeming to stare contemplatingly at him as she also read a magazine touting a possible sale of a type of airplane to him. Of course that wasn't his perview, as he trusted General Destronikan to take care of that, so if his nation was buying it, then he wouldn't reject the possibility. Of course it was a tad strange that they had a picture of his face on the magazine, yet the woman seemed to still be staring at him. Oh well. For some reason the waiter still hasn't arrived yet and he was getting a tad pensive about the whole thing.

While it was indeed nice to see the colorful fish above his head, he would rather have his food. The woman was still offhandedly staring at him. He whispered in the ear of his bodyguard, Zern, and the man got up and walked over to the woman, looking a bit imposing in the process, "I am sorry for bothering you miss, but my boss would like to know what this article is talking about. He has... a vested interest in the military of Zellatia and hasn't really been hearing much about any large sales due to his media block out while he is here. Would you perhaps enlighten him on the matter?"

Zellan looked bemusingly towards the woman and Zern, chuckling to himself as the bodyguard struggled not to say anything that might compromise his bosses identity. Finally the waiter arrived and took his order. He ordered a fruit salad and a diet coke to start with, and, rembering what his guard wanted, also ordered a local fish off the menu with mango squirted on it for flavor, as well as two glasses of the local rum.

The woman smiled at the awkwardness of the man speaking to her about "his boss." It's like he was trying to relax, but was hotwired not to. She could swear she recognised the guy from the TV back in Port Eastgate, but not off the top of her head. He obviously wasn't a local, she'd be recognised straight away. She simply said "Of course," and she got up to move over.

"Hey there mate, heard you liked the Zellatian Military. It's a pretty big thing they're trying to do. Terra Nova RDI want to sell an air superiority fighter to Zellatia as a mainstay fighter as well as a few other things becuase the whole NH-Zellatia relationship is going pretty strong, so they're up for that kind of cooperation. It's pretty complex, but TN RDI want to get the sales because they estimate that it's gonna make them..."

She looked over the pages.

"Wow, almost 20 billion Quats. Nice." She handed him the magazine, "I'm pretty sure you're a bit more interested than I am, I just like reading about the suff happening near Mizana. You know that they have over 500 airplanes flying around there? Imagine trying to control all that! Anyways, where you from?"

Zellan smiled as the woman sat down across from him. He listened intently as she recounted how many planes were nearby, how much the deal was going to cost Zellatia and so on. He responded soon after she stopped talking, " Well I'm from Zellatia. As you probably have noticed I'm not a local, but I have bought a house nearby for when I'm on vacation, like today. And yes, I had heard there were many planes at Mizana. I think I've been in a plane over the area once or twice. It's always very interesting to hear how Zellatia's military is slowly getting better and better, and it warms my heart that the relationship between New Hayesalia and Zellatia is getting better. I suppose that's because my nation and this one have similar values and the like. Anyways, I haven't caught your name, mine's is Zellan. What's yours?"

Almost immediately after he asked, the food he ordered arrived, and he absentmindedly began to sip on his soda, while Zern, the bodyguard, began to eat his fish, as well as sip his rum.

Zellan was always interested by the people around him, but sometimes he just delighted in people not knowing exactly who he was. He could only hope that by saying his name he didn't reveal his identity too much. He absolutely hated being fawned over, and that was why he was just wearing casual clothing. Anything fancy and he'd stick out like a sore thumb, even more than he already did due to his bodyguard. He continiued to absent-mindedly sip his drink as he awaited the brunette's response.

"Must've been expensive, prices around here are pretty insane. I'm Talia, nice to meet ya. Always good to hear a Zellatian talking about happy stuff, big change since a few years ago. You guys have come a long way since the Civil War, I gotta say. I know the New Hayesalian Government is still pushing to assist in rebuilding the Zellatian Army. You a military man?"

Zellan paused a few seconds, feeling relief wash over him as his name wasn't automatically connected to his title, "You could say that. The civil war was almost a decade ago, I'd say the Zellatian military is better then ever now. And yes it was expensive. However, seeing all of this area's beauty was well worth the price. I'm happy that this place is as nice as it seems. I was almost expecting a tourist trap. The Civil War was a terrible period of time, but I'd say Zellatia is moving past it as a whole. Heck, ethnic tensions have calmed down so much that the majority of the political parties that had been pressing for more autonomy have either collapsed or toned down their demands. If you think I'm happy, you should see my kids. They are currently at the house right now, playing on the beach. Wish I could have brought them, but they were adamant that they wanted to continue to play."

"Ahh, so mum's in charge for now?"

A waiter walked over to Talia's old table with a mango lemonade and looked around for the woman. She called over "Over here, mate." and the waitor seemed to be shocked for a tenth of a second.
"Uh, your drink, Your..."
"Thank you," she said, cutting in. The waiter nodded to both and walked off, somewhat shocked. He'd obviously just started his shift.

Zellan's smile quickly faded, "No. My wife is.... with her ancestors. She died a year and a half ago. The Butler is watching them, among others. Sorry for my response, it's still a tad fresh in my mind. However, I'm trying to move on. Anyways, what's it like living around here? It seems awfully nice. If I were to ever retire, I think this place would make my top ten easily." He sub-consciously whished his straw around, the ice in his drink moving around and around.

He also took a few bites into the the fruit salad, and tasted the mangoes, and the other fruits. He gave Talia a smile and awaited her response, nervous that he might have been a bit abrupt.

"Geez, I'm sorry to hear that. It's a better place up north. Retirement-wise, I'd say it really depends on what you like. It's hard work to find a place you'd like to settle down in in this country. I personally like the Savisky ranges. Tropical rainforests up in the mountains, temperatures ranging from 10 to 29 degrees C and nice and quiet. So, what do you do? Something important if you can afford a place around here."

Zellan awkwardly smiled. Although he was now 26, he felt he was much older, and it must seem odd to even the least discerning person that he could afford a place all the way out here. "What I do is extremely important. So important in fact that I can't mention it off-handedly, even in such a nice place. If I did tell you, then there would be reporters all over the place by the time we finished our meal."

He hoped that she wouldn't press any further. He didn't want to lie if pushed, but if she kept asking then there would indeed be problems. "Now, would you like anything? I'll pay for whatever you want to eat."

"Trust me, I know that feeling. I ate before I came here, I just come around to watch the fish, not eat 'em. But, if you're offering, I do like my Mango Daiquiri served ice-cold." she smiled, and sat back on the plush chair, flipping off her thongs and putting her hands behind her head.

It was well into the night. The blue LED lights lit up fish as the two sat and spoke, getting increasingly more drunk. They moved over to a bar and continued their chats in the bar. The children had been called by their father, and Talia had been remarkably happy to stay and sit with the Zellatian.

It was about seven p.m now, and couples and groups had finished dinner and decided to hit the town. The town would hit back, many realised, in their hangovers the next morning. Between the two, many dozens of mangoes had been consumed, leaving a residual sweet taste in their mouths. So now, Talia asked the question.

"So, what do you do anyways?"

Zellan, feeling the affects of the alcohol laughed, " Can't tell you that. Would bring reporters from Allllll around. Don't want any publicity, especially while I am on vacation. Course, if I did tell you, you wouldn't believe me anyways. I am a very important....person...... in Zellatia. If I were to tell you, my bodyguard here would grab me and run. Believe me, when I was 16 the same thing happened and I was nearly killed. Not fun."

"Aaaaahhh, come ooon," Talia jeered, tipsy and giggling. "You tell me, and I'll take you back to my place..."

It was then that a toddly old lady approached apprehensively. "Uhh, excuse me," she said, nerves apparent. She curtseyed, and spoke to Talia, how had an inexplanable look of panic. "Your Highness, would you be opposed to my husband taking a photograph?"
"Uhhh..." Talia's eyes darted, and she tried to fake a smile. "Certainly."

The couple took a photo, thanked her and moved on. The Zellatian was intrigued, needless to say.

Zellan stared for a few moments, surprised at this revalation, " You are a princess? Well then. This night just got a whole lot more interesting. Well... since you said what you are, then it is only appropriate I tell you what I am. Zern. I think I can tell her right?"

Zern sighed as Zellan asked his question. He had not been drinking like these two, but he did have certain responsibilities. However, it seemed since Talia was a princess, then it would be all right. "Sir, protocol says it is fine to tell her if you so desire.... your majesty."

Zellan almost fell over laughing after that, "Okay, okay. I'll tell her. Talia, I am the Emperor of Zellatia. Zellan III Destroniki. Sorry for not telling you sooner, but as I said, last time I did that when incognito ended badly. So..... if you are a princess, how are you related to the Queen?"

Talia was stunned at the development. Must be karma for something, she had reasoned.

"Wow... that was a shock. The Queen is my mother. I'm 22, she's 59. I'm fifth in line to the throne. Currently I'm the Duchess of the Amnillian Provinces."

Zellan chuckled a little, " Well I'm 26. Surprising isn't it? We each thought the other was a civilian. Karma can be weird sometimes. Anyways, Unless you have a place nearby I can escort you to, mind coming back to my place? I'm sure my kids are worried, and it is pretty close. Anyways, you are a Princess and a Duchess? I guess the coincidences are getting more apparent. So..... what now?"

"It's a weird system, and nobody remembers how it happens. Weird, hey? And to be honest, I would not worry about going to your place.. at all." Talia replied, with a devilish smile. It certainly wasn't the alcohol talking.

Zern, the bodyguard sighed and called the limo up. As usual, he was the one stuck with the Emperor during one of his...."good" moods. They were rare and far between, but he seemed to be the only bodyguard in the group of Zealites that ever got this kind of shtick. "Sir?" he began, " The Limosine will be here in a moment. I'm also told your children are in bed, and that the whole mansion has been cleaned for the day."

Zellan smiled, "...Okay then. That's good. Well then...."

Talia had always been a good drunk. Mobile, well thought, and not one for a one-night stand. Of course, the one time she did it was of royal proportions; with Zellatian royalty. She didn't have a problem with it though- he was quite charming.

She dressed up again and went out to the kitchen. The villa was quite amazing; Zellatian bits and bobs everywhere, all in classic tropical New Hayesalian flavours. It had been a crazy night, something she didn't expect when she bought a copy of Air Forces International. The kitchen had a sandwich griller, the fridge had cheese, and there was a mango and a knife. She hadded seen Zeln yet, and the hangover was of slightly more concern, for now.

Zellan grogily got out of bed. His children were outside playing on the beach by now, so he didnt need to worry. In addition, despite the fact he had drank a lot last night, he still remembered everything with vivid detail, with only a mild headache to boot. "Didn't see that coming when I came here," he muttered as he exited his room after getting dressed.

His bodyguard, Zern greeted him outside the door, "Princess Talia is in the kitchen, making herself something to eat your majesty."
Zellan was a bit shocked by the bodyguard being right outside his door, so he sheepily asked, "You.... weren't out there the whole night were you?" to which Zern replied, "No sir. I was a couple doors down guarding your children. I woke up a few times, but only because little Zelinara kept waking up in the middle of the night asking for some water. Zellath also woke up a few times, and I wrestled with him this morning. Both of them seem like they are growing up fine so far." Zellan frowned, "Good, good.... I just wish they.... had a mother...".

Zellan cut off the conversation from continuing any further and went downstairs to the kitchen where Talia was waiting.
