I happen to dig them quite a bit. They have no pretentions of being any more than they are. Live action cartoons.

Thing is, the cartoons had more meat than the movies. Ya know... Character development. No humans. Suspense.

I would never dare to compare the 80's cartoon to the movies.

Actually the Cartoon had humans its just that even Daniel, despite being a whiny little bitch who had a seriously weird brother/sister body sharing realtionship with Arcee, was 100x more likable than Sam.

Favourite characters of mine would be Ironhide, Jazz and Wheeljack competing with Grimlok.

But from the comics i did love Death's Head.

I disagree, Daniel was even worse in the Japanese series afterwards, he and Wheelie would just do stupid stuff like sneaking aboard the Autobot ship, getting drunk on Energon and messing up plans

Danny was pretty damned stupid in the Japanese series. Though hilariously so. He's almost like an unintentional parody of annoying kid sidekicks.

I just like the fact that in the 1986 movie, Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Ironhide all die and only Jazz and Bumblebee survive.

and in the first Micheal Bay film, Bumblebee is seriously hurt and Jazz died.

and one note... Scatman Crothers, the original voice of Jazz died after the 1986 movie... so I view the death of Jazz by Megatron's hand to be somewhat fitting.
on the other hand... I have another set of fingers.

Unscramble these words...1) PNEIS. 2)HTIELR 3) NGGERI 4) BUTTSXE
1) SPINE. 2) LITHER 3)GINGER 4)SUBTEXT

Well, to be fair it makes sense, the commercial purpose for Hasbro for the '86 movie, was to pretty much wipe out the entire 84 and 85 toy line; because the new one would be composed of all new characters. The movie was for kids to watch the death of their entire TF toy collection... the Bay film didn't necessarily need to kill off anyone, since they didn't have to destroy any toy lines in the making of it.

I personally have it all, all 4 seasons (last of course, really short) of the US Series, some of the Japanese Headmaster Series and Supergod Masterforce, Beast Wars, Beast Machines, the Japanese Originated RiD, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, the shitty Animated and now have been collecting the primes... also own all 4 movies (the original animated and the 3 bay films).

Cybertron was okay, I was a kid with the original G1, so I tend to like that the best, was not too much a fan of the Beast[wars/machines] era, the energon/cybertron was okay as was Armada... actually have to say that my three favorite of the Animated series was G1, RiD and the newest Prime (I actually love picking out stylistic elements of it that were imported from previous series)... and unlike a lot of TF fans, I actually like the Bay movies as well.

I've had (and continue to have) great fun on NS doing a retcon genocide on all the rest, along with everything about G1 that I find ridiculous.
