Nikolai, I have heard of the cowardly attack in your nation and I am most angered by it. You knew my father John Mannix, but since his death all the succsessor Prime Ministers forgot about our relations. I am willing to send a group of made men to your nation to help punish those terrorists. I await your reply and hope that our two nations will be more friendly to each other.

Along Highway 229...

There was a minor traffic jam due to slightly heavier than usual snowfall. Kommandorians are very polite to other native Kommandorians, so the highway lacked the typical anger and honking of other traffic jams in foreign countries. Every few seconds, the mass of vehicles inched forward. Then, all at once, their radioes immediately changed stations to HWWS (Hazardous Weather Warning Station). A calm, smooth-voiced man spoke into the microphone.

Meteorologist: This is an urgent message from the Hazardous Weather Warning Station. A Kategory-4 blizzard is brewing around Mount Kaaltyr. Roadblocks have been set up in the vicinity of the mountain for the protection and safety of our beloved citizens. Temperatures in that area are expected to drop by about twenty degrees. Also, snowfall will reach a record of four inches an hour for about ten hours. Please, for your own safety, avoid Highways 314 and 625, as they run around the base of the mountain. Thank you, and have a patriotic evening!

Meanwhile, at about 6000 feet, the road ended and the trio of agents had to leave their Hummer. Snow was rapidly blanketing the entire mountain. They had to move. Fast. Each of them was accustomed to such weather and simply pulled their fur hoods over their heads and attached gas masks to their faces, in order to breathe more easily due to the lack of oxygen. They began ascending, following the footprints...they were close...

SOMEWHERE ON MT. KAALTYR
MT. KAALTYR, KOMMANDORIA
00:13 HOURS

Letkov stumbled through the snow, unable to see. His body temperature was rapidly dropping. He could feel his body heating as it entered hypothermia. "D...dammit..." he stuttered, wind whipping snow his face. He tried to keep walking, but he ran into a rock and stumbled backwards, falling to the snow. "I... N...no... S...Sara...? Sir...? Wh...where are you...?" His nose was bleeding. A pair of heavy boots stepped into view. Letkov looked up. An ultranationalist leered over him.

"There, grab him," the man said, wrapped in a heavy winter cloak, an ultranationalist armband wrapped around his arm. Two other men picked up Letkov's body. "Foreign dog!" one of them spat, breaking his arm. Letkov screamed in pain. "Oh, Fox! S-stop! Please...!" he whimpered. "Silence!" one of the other men said, breaking his other arm. Letkov began bleeding profusely from compound fractures, the bones in his arms ripping through his skin. "C'mon, let's take him back down the mountain!" the leader ordered. "Wait, just some insurance..." one of the men said as he lifted Letkov's legs. He brought his rifle down upon Letkov's straightened knees, shattering them, his patellas rupturing his skin. Letkov cried out. The two men began dragging Letkov, his blood staining the white snow.

"Not so tough now, are ya, you fuckin' fox-lover?" one of the men sneered. "P...please..." Letkov begged. "Pathetic!" the leader yelled, cracking his rifle butt into Letkov's forehead. Letkov's face was covered with blood. The warmness of hypothermia was rapidly leaving him as his lifeblood did the same. His whole body was pulsing with the tune of his heart. "Chief, this guy is just dead weight! I say we shoot 'im right here!" one of the ultranationalists called out over the sound of the blizzard. "Yeah!" the other one yelled. "He's ju-!" He was cut off. "Seigfried! Wha-?" The other man fell silent. "Hey you two! What's the holdup? Move it!" the leader yelled back. He turned around. They were gone. A man in a black cloak, casually smoking a cigar had a pistol leveled at his head. "Y-you!" the man stuttered before his forehead exploded in a shower of blood.

"Nice takedowns, Connahan, Tazzione," the man said. "Sir, there's an unidentified soldier back here! He looks pretty beat up!" Connahan called out. "Get him up," the leader responded. "Where do you think he's from?" Tazzione asked. "Only one nation in the world has kids like this who can take missions like this one: Kauvara. They specialize in special operations. Who knows how long this kid has been in Kommandoria?" the leader answered.

"He just arrived," a female voice said from behind them. Cpt. Kydno and 1Lt. McGran approached from behind. Kydno spoke. "It appears we are at a crossroads." "Indeed we are. But I suggest we get to lower ground. Your comrade here is not going to last long if he is not evacuated," the leader responded. Tazzione and McGran carefully picked Letkov up. "S...Sara... Y...you came... S...sorry..." he whispered. "Shut up, Richard... Let's get you out of here," McGran answered, her voice worried. Letkov had never heard that voice before. Not many people had.

BELOW THE STORM CEILING
MT. KAALTYR, KOMMANDORIA
01:34 HOURS

The group entered into a clearing. A light snow was falling, blanketing the ground in a thin layer of white. The air was dry, cold. It stung the throat. McGran looked down at the body she was carrying. "Rick, you still with us?" she asked. "Y...yeah... I...I'm OK..." he whimpered back, blood dripping from his lips. McGran and Tazzione gingerly set him down. McGran got on her radio. "This is Operator 'Vixen.' Do you read, SkyFox?" A voice crackled back. "Roger, this is SkyFox. What is your request?"
"We have a man down. We need medevac immediately."
"Roger that, Vixen. It's gonna take awhile to get up there. Kaaltyr is the most fortified place in Kommandoria. We'll have to get past the radars since we don't know the codeword."
The cloaked man spoke up. "Tell him the codeword is '84-91-Kyzar.'"
"Did you hear that, SkyFox?" McGran said into radio.
"Roger, we're en route," the pilot responded.

McGran looked back to Letkov. "Hey, kid, how you holding up?"
"I... I don't know... I... I can't f...feel anything..." he whispered back, his voice wavering.
"Rick... Where are you from?"
"Danik, ma'am..."
"Sara. What's Danik like?"
"Beautiful... Th...there's a fireworks show every Unification Day..."
"Yeah, I've seen it. It really is lovely. When is the last time you saw it, Rick?"
He coughed, blood spattering his uniform. "Th...the week before I shipped out... m...my family and I visited... I... I couldn't tell them where I was going... Why I was leaving... I... I don't think I'm gonna make it... W...will they know what happened to me...?"
McGran looked to Kydno. Kydno shook his head. She looked back to Letkov. "Y...yeah... They will..." A long time in the IKSF taught McGran how to lie, and do it well. It had never been harder than just then.
"G...good... S...Sara... reach into my vest pocket..."
McGran gingerly put her hand into the pouch, pulling out a bloody USB drive. "R...Rick..."
"It's all there, Sara... I... I analyzed it on my eyepiece while I was lost... It's the proof we need to stop this war... A...and it details the next steps of-" he coughed, blood pouring from his mouth. "The next steps of the KUP... Th...they're going to assassinate Du Pont when she addresses the people about the Lolzieristani mobilization... M...make it look like it was the work of a Lolzieristani sniper... The shooter will be in... in... in the Konigzspire Clocktower... They're all there... E...even their leader... H...hey Sara...?"
"What is it, Rick...?"
"A...are you gonna do it...? S...save the world...? Stop the bad guys...?"
"Y...yeah, Rick... Thanks to you..."
"G...good..." he trailed off, his eyes dulling. He slumped to the ground, his body limp.

"Honorable to the last," the cloaked figure said, approaching behind her. "His sacrifice will not be forgotten by our organization. While the people will never know, I promise you that this will never be forgotten by the Kommandorian leadership. I just radioed our operatives in Konigzspire. They are closing in on the clocktower now. With your incoming helicopter, we can be there for the counter-operation. Would you like some revenge, Kauvaran?"
Kydno looked back to him. "Absolutely."

The sound of a helicopter rotor became audible in the distance, getting closer. A UH-60 bearing civilian livery landed in their midst. Kydno and McGran picked up Letkov's body, and the group boarded the helicopter. It began its flight to Konigzspire, flying away from the mountain.

The clearing became deathly quiet. Snow continued to fall. But there was one thing that was uncovered. A little speck of orange red. A tuft of fox fur attached to a chain. The charm started disappearing beneath the snow. It had a name etched into it.

"RICHARD F. LETKOV"

OOC: I'm going to be out of town today, and most of tomorrow. I might be able to do some posting from my phone, but odds are there isn't phone reception where I(ll be staying the night. See y'all Sunday afternoon!
Sometimes I'm reading through military threads here, and I stop and think "What the hell is wrong with all of us?" But then I get on Facebook, and realize I'd rather be insane than an idiot.

In the Konigzspire Plaza, just north of the Konigzspire Klocktower...

Madame Alice du Pont had just returned from the 1st Darklands Economic Convention and was preparing to give a speech. She began speaking and a massive crowd listened in silence. Within the 60-story Klocktower, about one hundred KUP members quietly waited. A veteran KUP sniper sat in wait, just behind the "11" on the face of the klock. It was 11:51 AM. As soon as it struck noon, he would kill du Pont. The other KUP members would assure his success. What they did not know, was that about fifty Royal Guardsmen were approaching the tower. They had to make sure no one warned the sniper of their approach, so all weapons were silenced and explosives were forbidden.

At the top of the tower...

KUP guard: Alexander, are you sure you can kill her on the first shot?

Sniper: Correct, Heinrich. I've been training for this for years. Nothing will save that woman.

Both laughed in unison

At the enormous doors of the tower, the Royal Guardsmen had gathered.

Kolonel: Remember men, leave no one alive. Kill every last one of them. They deserve no mercy. If one begs for his life, end him.

All Guardsmen nodded.

Kolonel: Heil der Kyzar!

The Guardsmen burst through the doors and began spraying hundreds of eerily quiet bullets into the KUP forces. The element of surprise was on the Guardsmen's side. The KUP didn't even have time to return fire or even scream. One of them dropped his gun and fell to his knees, clasping his hands together. "Good God save me!". The Kolonel kicked him in his chest, and he fell onto his back on the cold marble floor. The Kolonel put his G36 to the KUP soldier's forehead and mumbled, "Not even God will save you from me." The Kolonel then emptied all 30 rounds of his clip into the man's face. The first floor had been cleared. No Guardsmen injuries or deaths. Ten KUP deaths, no survivors. "Bring in the Kauvarans!", the Kolonel yelled in a hushed voiced. The Kauavaran agents entered, anger burning in their eyes. Their loss would be avenged ten-fold. The miniature army moved up to the 15th floor, encountering no resistance. It was at the 20th floor that they hit a snag. About a dozen KUP soldiers were armed with RPK's and another was carrying a Vulcan minigun. The Guardsmen dove for cover as a swarm of bullets descended on them. A few Guardsmen had been injured and were escorted to the 1st for to be EVAC'd. The dark figure from earlier had sent only one agent, Connahan, to assist the raid. The Guardsmen were pinned down and only Connahan could help. He was a hulking mass of a man, his arms comparable to logs. It was ironic that a man of his size was so stealthy. He crept around the KUP position through a service hall and found himself behind the man with the Vulcan. Connahan drew his combat knife and wrapped his arms around the man, slicing his neck so deeply that it severed his spinal cord, leaving his head dangling from his body by only a few strings of muscle tissue. The KUP didn't see this happen and continued their suppressive fire. But the body of the slain man was bleeding profusely. A KUP soldier felt his shoes getting wet and looked down to see that he was standing in a pool of blood. He turned around, only to spend the last milliseconds of his life watching Connahan plunge his blade into the soldier's forehead, so hard that it emerged from the back of his skull. The shattering sound attracted the attention of the other KUP men who all turned around. The Guardsmen took hold of the opportunity and gunned down the men before they could shoot Connahan. The Guardsmen grew tired and asked the Kauvarans to take point. They climbed to the 35th story, where resistance reached new levels. Countless KUP troops had heard the firefight and had their guns trained on the entrance to the room. Sara and McGran had stealth on their side and climbed into a ventilation duct. "Ugh, figures. Even Kommandorian air reeks of industry!", whispered McGran. Sara hushed him. They finally came to another opening in the duct and looked through the metal slats. Down below were about four KUP members that stood behind the rest of the horde. Sara closed her eyes and prayed, "Fox give me strength". Then the duo dropped through the duct, each Kauvaran landed on the head of a KUP soldier. The two died instanty from having their necks broken. Then each Kauvaran drew their pistols and grabbed the other two KUPs, using them as live meat shields. The other KUPs didn't care and began firing at the duo. The KUP hostages soaked up bullet after bullet as the Kauvarans shot the hostiles. Finally, the Guardsmen charged in and shot the KUP soldiers from behind. The room was alive with gunfire and shouting, chaos ran free. Another floor had been cleared and the teams continued to the top of the tower, wiping out resistance as they went. The 55th floor, just below the face of the Klock. The were right under the KUP sniper, who could heard the shooting and screams of the dead and dying. He was sweating and his heart was pounding with fear. It was 11:58. He opened up a hatch on the face of the Klock and looked down his sights to see du Pont still giving her speech. He lined up the crosshair right between her blue eyes. "Come on...come on...", he thought impatiently to himself. He heard three guns cock just behind his head. Sara, McGran, and Connahan all had their pistols of varying calibers trained on the sniper's head.

McGran: For Kauvara, Sara?

Sara: No...for Letkov...

Sniper: Jesus NO!

The trio fired their pistols in sync. Just as multiple round entered the sniper's head, he fired his rifle out of reflex. The sniper's bullet had struck du Pont in her shoulder, and she fell to the ground. Several paramedics and bodyguards encircled her as the crowd roared in outrage. Du Pont would recover in only a week, the bullet having missed any major blood vessels. It was discovered by the Kommandorian government what Auberwitz had done, but due to his loyalty and decades of dedication, he was allowed to remain in his position, although kept under close watch by the Ministry of Intelligence. It was never discovered who gave the terrorist his training. But for the moment, Kommandoria had been saved, and a war had been prevented, all thanks to two trios of secret agents.

To whom it may concern,

This has been a shock to the nations of the world, and a ghastly attack upon your people by an assailant. All initial reports indicate that this terrorist who perpetrated this attack was a Kommandorian ultranationalist, and I can only condemn his actions and any similar actions that were every took by his comrades. With this said, we cannot allow you, or anyone else to go off, half cocked. I am asking that you wait and allow further investigation into the attack by Kommandorian or neutral authorities. In such situations, preliminary evidence has often turned out to be misleading, or incorrect.

To whom it may concern,

I would like to formally request that Caninopian law enforcement officials be sent to Kommandoria to examine the situation and help determine any movements or causes that may have been at work here.

I understand that this seems odd, at first glance, but the Caninopian Foreign Intelligence Service (CFIS) has picked up radio chatter and some information that suggests that one or more members of your government may have been involved, or at the very least, may be being framed.

I am not accusing your government in anyway of any crimes, only asking that a neutral country and officials be allowed to examine the situation, thus allowing a possible defuse of any tensions that may exist.

The bombers swept in low, readying themselves to perform an act whose effects could only be known by God. They were F-117N Naval Nighthawks, called "Shabas" (Ghosts) by their Arabic pilots. The aircraft itself was an old design, bought at a discount from a more modern military, but the Military Aviation Research Station in a remote part of Israel had updated it as much as possible. And besides, Colonel Shafiq reminded himself, it's harder to see a Shaba when you aren't looking for it. They had been launched from the carrier in the South Atlantic, and were bearing down on the coast of Kommandoria's South American holdings.

The LMI had rated the air crews on this mission as a Class One Capture Risk, so Shafiq had little idea of what the war plans were. He knew that the Navy was sending a fleet to blockade Kommandorian Africa while an Army Front was sweeping down from ports in neutral Brazil. Rumor had it that some elite Guards divisions would conduct an amphibious assault on the southern tip of S. America, and then the old Soviet hammer-and-anvil tactic would grind up resistance. Then they would hit Africa. From there, he suspected that there would be another two-pronged strike on Kommandoria's home island from the newly-liberated ex-Kommo territories.

They crossed over the beaches of Kommandorian America, and prepared to launch JDAMs at their designated targets, primarily air defenses. Suddenly, the radio crackled, which instantly drew Shafiq's attention. They were on strict radio silence.

Vengeance One Alpha, this is Wildfire. Halt operation at once, Kommandoria is NOT at fault for the attack. HALT operation!

Shafiq hesitated for a solitary second before transmitting the order to his wingmen, and that was just enough time for the plane on his right to launch its missiles.

"Hold fire, dammit! Abort launch!"
"Oh God- I already dropped 'em, sir!"
"Shit!"
Sometimes I'm reading through military threads here, and I stop and think "What the hell is wrong with all of us?" But then I get on Facebook, and realize I'd rather be insane than an idiot.

Inside one of several bunkers along the East South America beaches...

A Kommandorian radio traffic controller had his boots kicked up on a desk as he sipped his morning coffee and read "The Darkland's Daily Regional News". He thought to himself, "Hmm, an alliance? Excellent!". Two other soldiers walked in and began handling various paperwork. The radio traffic controller heard a whizzing sound outside and opened a blast window. Several JDAM missiles were headed straight for the beaches. "JESUS CHR--!", he yelled just a one of the dozens of missiles struck bunkers all over the beach.

Moments later, reporters had gathered along the beaches, as well as investigators and the military brass.

Reporter: This is the scene of carnage where several JDAM missiles struck just moments ago. As you can see, many fires are still burning and survivors are still being found as--oh my!

Two medics were helping a surviving soldier walk to an ambulance. Half of the man's face had been severely burned and was wrapped in gauze. The rest of his body had been covered in black soot. He grunted in pain as he stumbled.

Superior High General Auberwitz watched the scene from a few feet away. It appeared his plan had worked, though he had already been caught. However, this was not his intention. He was satisfied that he was allowed to keep his position and that the coup had been put down. But now, he craved revenge more than ever. Lolzieristan had dug itself into a hole, and Auberwitz would bury it.

KONIGZSPIRE INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT
KONIGZSPIRE, KOMMANDORIA
01:46 HOURS

It was dark as Kydno and McGran made their way back to their safehouse. They walked, taking in the harsh Kommandorian air. Not a word was said as the pair entered the building. Kydno opened the lock to their dingy apartment, and stepped inside. He looked around. Three beds. "Fuck..." he thought to himself. He got on his computer.

He sent the report. Just another day in the life of an IKSF Operator. What would tomorrow bring? He had no clue. But war had been averted. Nobody would ever know how, or why. There might be some official story praising successful peace talks by the amazing governments, but that would be all. And that was how it should be. Kydno got into bed with McGran. She wrapped his arms around him. He sighed, falling into her embrace. His eyes began to close, drowsy with sleep.

6000 FT. UP MT. KAALTYR
MT. KAALTYR, KOMMANDORIA
12:56 HOURS

A nine-year-old Kommandorian child was playing in the snow near his mountain village. He rolled around, taking up big gobs of snow and throwing it at the rocks. As he picked up one of the packs, he felt something inside. It was a little charm. He couldn't read what it said. The letters were strange symbols. "Gustav! Come inside! Lunch is ready!" his mother called out. The child put the little charm into his pocket, and he ran back inside.

Unbeknownst to him, the name on that charm belonged the the 18-year-old boy who very well saved him and his friends from growing up in the fires of war.

OOC: And with that, Conspiracy to War draws to a close for Kauvara! If anybody else wants to continue, they are welcome to, but Kauvara's role has ended! This is going to make a great chapter in the book! So long, everybody!

We're a PMT/FT nation of humans. That's right, just humans. Not psychic supermen, nor crazy cyborgs, nor massive mutants. Just normal human homo sapiens trying to make our way in this insane galaxy full of wonders, horrors, and everything in between.

Somewhere in Kommandorian airspace
Captain Daniels was sitting in the back of a C-130 heading back to Octovia. His team had been pulled out when orders came in from the Department of Defence that a pact was signed between our nations. The leader of the Underground Nationalist's had been handed over to proper Kommandorian authorities. Daniels could head back to his family in Octovia, for now.
