My Thoughts on Rp-ing a Communist System

The International Communist-Socialist Movement on NS

Hello, no doubt you are expecting some kind of essay on Communist Thought [that belongs in genera] and how it is obviously superior to Bourgeoisie Thought. I’m sorry to say that today you won’t get a lolhuge essay, instead you will get a brief but hopefully informative guide on RP-ing a Communist System (My experience of) and some player written articles on their flavors of Communism. I will include several links to information web sites where you can find Communist Literature, Articles, and other cool things. This will be updated as I go.

Role playing a Communist System

During my three years on NS (all spent as a Communist Nation of some sort), I’ve seen many different versions of Communist States. Some such as myself go out of their way to stress the Dictatorship of the Proletariat or the Socialist Police State, while others like Osea or Communist Estainia show the “softer side” of Communism. In reality, Communism cannot have a softer side until after the rough side is concluded, the Dictatorship of the Proletariat being a critical step between Revolution and Communist Society. On NS however, it is entirely possible to go from Revolution to Softer Communism if you’re more moderate, or if you’re people are fully behind the revolt.

In fact, this can be done purely because you feel like it!

That right there however is the second largest obstacle in RP-ing a Communist State well. If you’re role playing a Marxist-Leninist system you must have a Dictatorship of the Proletariat phase. Lenin himself wrote about it’s importance in What is to be Done and again in The State and Revolution. While you can argue that over time you moved away from the Marxist Leninist Ideal, you will be labeled as a Revisionist by those nations that are Marxist Leninists! This is not necessarily a bad thing if you don't mind it, but if you're looking to craft a Union of Freeborn Republics, that could be an issue.

That is not to say that you must have tyranny, you can instead have references to a previous era of tyranny that slowly led to a more moderate present. Or really anything you can think of that could conceivably purge other political parties, your own, and render your society totally compliant.

The next biggest issue I see and have myself done when RP-ing a Communist State is having everyone be a Communist. While this may seem like it is not an issue, look at the very system! Unless you have reached the ever elusive stage of Communist Society where everyone is provided for and happy, there will be dissidents. Human nature also means that there will be corruption and greed (realistic human nature anyway)! How rampant it is up to you (like everything else), but in a system where there is a lack of motivation outside of working for the Party and Ideal, people will try to make money on the side.

Having everyone be a dedicated Party Member or Ideological Communist is like having an entire army of super soldier bad-asses, it does not work and depending on what you’re doing it could ruin a RP. Instead, have characters demonstrate varying levels of ideological commitment. Have one worker be super dedicated to the Communist Ideal, while have another (perhaps a person of power) merely go through the motions.

In soldiers, this is key, especially if you model yourself on the Soviet Union. This goes double if you have conscription! Commissars and the like are there to disseminate Communist Ideology and serve as a direct link between Party and Military (as well as shoot people it seems), if the entire military are members of the Party or dedicated Communist, why have them [assuming you use Commissars, but the argument is the same regardless]? The Military IRL is a place where all walks of life and beliefs can be found, if you want reflect this while Rp-ing varying ideological commitment or education can do this very well.

A final issue is that I regularly see Communist States allying with Fascists, Monarchists, Capitalists, etc. Communism is a Revolutionary and Militant Ideology, there can be no alliance with the very people you believe must be ousted from power! Now in times of war or crisis it is reasonable to say that you’d explore every option, but close alliances just because are not only ideologically ridiculous, but also counterproductive (since that stalls the International Revolution by presenting a Reactionary or Explotive State that your People can’t hate/overthrow/n00k)!

Bear in mind, that my poorly written tips are just observations. I myself am no expert and there is really no reason outside of, “I HERD YOU LIEK RP COMMUNISM” to listen to me. Also, people who know about Communism. I've read Marx, Lenin, (a bit of) Stalin, and Mao. I'm not explaining the ideology because I'm supplying links that will allow people to find that out for themselves. (Just wanted to make sure I'm not appearing as one of those CoD fanboys who is like, "COMMUNISM!")

The New Party and the New Ideal!

Ideologically, we are not Revolutionary. The initial teachings of Comrades Marx, Lenin, and Otet are merely expanded by the New Party (referred to as Neo-Party). The abolition of Private Property, the destruction of the Class Society, the elimination of “Freedom of Criticism” and the creation of an Omni-present Socio-Political Party to guide, regulate, and mobilize the masses all are maintained by the New Theory (referred to as Neo Bolshevism). Ideologically, we are Revolutionary, yet we are not new. In fact the majority of our doctrine is identical to those of the Leninists, the Otetists, and even the relatively obscure Pattersonists.

Our ideology is similar, but our doctrine is unique; it holds no similarities with our predecessors. The Neo Bolshevist Movement can best be defined as a movement that has arisen almost as an afterthought to the formation of a Socialistic State. Our movement has arisen not to continue Marxism-Leninism-Otetism but to improve it. While the economic and Revolutionary aspects of Lenin and Otetist thought are without peer, they do not carry the revolution the necessary final step. The Vanguard is supposed to stop when International Revolution has been achieved, but it is the belief of the Neo Party that the Revolution shall instead transcend physical struggle at that point and enter the realm of leading the Revolt on Counterrevolutionary Thought.

Our Party is unlike the others not only because we deal with the politicization and the alteration of history for the benefit of the Proletariat and Peasants as well as the elimination of Counterrevolutionary Thought as a possibility. Is it not true that when you take sweets from a spoiled child they cry and complain? Is it not also true that if you can make the child forget that he had a sweet that he will simply carry on? The same can be said for the masses of Proletarians in regards to Capitalistic Thought.

It has been proved by Comrade V.I. Lenin that Bourgeoisie Ideology is much older than true Socialist Ideology . It is also true that in a nation like ours where the worker is just grasping at the wider movement that they will turn to the first revolutionary aspect they can locate, namely, Trade Unionism. While these first steps on the road of Socialism are critical and largely positive, the Trade Unionist Struggle is not the struggle of Democratic Socialism much less Neo Bolshevism! The Trade Unions seek to simply change our society, to make peace with the established powers and allow them to carry on once concessions are made.

This leads only to the enslavement of the working man to Bourgeoisie Ideology.

At this point many people cry out, “What of the October Revolution? What of our Soviet State?” To that the Neo Bolshevists reply, “Revisionism.” Our State, in essence was a Socialist Victory. The revolution against the autocratic Forge King and the destruction of the Classes at the hands of the Bolshevists under Otet is and will be applauded for centuries to come! However, following the death of Otet our Republic entered a downward spiral away from true Revolutionary Bolshevism into what is known as “Developed Socialism”.

This Developed Socialism is the newest and most dangerous enemy to the worldwide Socialist Movement. This Developed Socialism is in essence state sanctions stagnation. State sanctioned Stagnation can be best described as Moral, Infrastructural, and finally Ideological, decay. The agents of this enemy can be found in all corners of the Soviet Republic of Abruzi, in the Party, Military, Militia, and even the Chekists!

How many times have you been forced to wait in lines for hours only to be told that there is a shortage? How many times have you been forced to squander your pay only to bribe a corrupt official? How many times Comrades? How many? A dozen? Twenty? One Hundred? How many times before you rise up? How many times before you join the New Party? Only with the aid of you, the Proletariat-the new Soviet Man can our party topple the now corrupt and decaying “Communist Party of Abruzi”!

Violent Revolution in the name of progress is never treason Comrades! Violent Revolution in the name of the establishment of a new and superior society is never wrong! Join with the New Party Comrades, and together we shall cry out our motto, the motto of the Revolutionary Vanguard;

“Forward, for the State!”

We stand for what is. What is, the Ideals of Marx and Lenin, the People, the Nation. We stand for what is and yet we force violent change upon it. The Monarch, the Church, the Bourgeoisie; they shackle the people of Russo-Spain to ignorance! My friends, my Comrades, my Children, we live in trying times, we walk through the annals of history, we have the potential to be the vanguard of the vanguard of Revolutionary Movements. We have the potential but we are weakened considerably by what can only be defined as opportunism and the covert infiltration of the People’s Movement by the Bourgeoisie.

As the true “Russian” Social Democrats and later Bolsheviks discovered, “Freedom of Criticism” and the Parliamentary Socialism that comes with it is only compatible with the Germanic States suck as Belkaland [?]. The much touted Social Reform Party, and it’s dozens of puppet groups such as Dolohov’s “Labor Group” and Sanchez’s “Worker’s Foco” all exhibit the type of opportunism that will be the death of the Russo-Spanish Revolutionary movement! While they struggle to garner favor from the Bourgeoisie Political System, while they work to acquire the support of the Intelligentsia who are so adamant that the “Freedom of Criticism” be maintained, while they labor for petty if any gains, we unify. While they fail, we succeed.

The recent Socialist Revolution within the Russian Empire [now the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic] and the strangely similar revolution within what once was the Imperium of Abruzi [under the guidance of Otet] have provided the revolutionary Socialist movement with the legitimacy that it has lacked until now! These two movements and their respective victories have demonstrated that by violent revolution the Proletariat can successfully force the change that our Parliamentary “Comrades” believe can only be achieved by a spontaneous Socialist Uprising.

While the ideals of our fraternal Comrades in both Russia and Abruzi are correct for their regions, Russo-Spain lacks the same Revolutionary Conditions of either. Within Russo-Spain, we are poised to confront the most counterrevolution regime and people on the planet. Within Russo-Spain we face a struggle that will be either be a disastrous defeat or truly glorious victory for the Socialist Movement!

This struggle cannot be won without compromise, without adhering to the Revolutionary Conditions of our homeland. While Otet and Lenin both echo Marx when he speaks of the total control of Capital, it is the believe of us [the People’s Movement Party] that only the majority of capital must be controlled by the State. While this not only allows for a Socialist Economy, it also grants certain freedoms of purchasing to the liberated Proletarian. Though this is a slippery slope to a reversion to outright capitalism, it can be argued that the control of roughly eighty percent of the State’s total Capital can limit if not ensure that there is no private growth that cannot be matched or exceeded by socialist growth.

However, the ownership of the Means of Production must be kept by the State and the Party. This point must be stressed repeatedly for without control of the Means of Production the Working Class will be the slave of the exploitative Upper Classes!

The crucial post Revolution Stage of Society known as the Dictatorship of the Proletariat is recognized as being just as necessary for the consolidation of power within Russo-Spain as it is within the wider Socialist Movement. However, the natural tendency of Russo-Spanish Citizens to not only heed but aid their superiors and each other allows for a shorter time spent as a Dictatorship of the Proletariat. This should also be reflected by the rights and freedoms granted our citizens. While there shall be a standing law against the transportation of capital or goods in excess of two kilograms, freedom of travel is necessary for the expansion of the Socialist Movement via dissemination of ideals. Freedom of Speech also must be guaranteed by the State, though the Freedom of Criticism shall forever be outlawed.

Post Dictatorship of the Proletariat, the State must not be allowed to wither away as in a traditional Communist System! While we share much with our Fraternal Comrades, we move in a different direction on matters of the State. Without the guiding hand of the Administrative Personnel, how will the People and thus the Nation move forward? How will the Russo-Spanish Ideals of ; Honor, Chivalry, and Communalism be carried to foreign shores? The state shall instead be purged regularly. Persons in positions of power or responsibility of any kind will be stripped of their ranks and duties in time with the flow of newly educated workers. Done correctly, our Government will constantly be in a state of transition, with veterans instructing new comers who in turn instruct the generation after them.

The chief ideological aspect of the Russo-Spanish variation of the Internationalist ideals of Marx, Lenin, and Otet is community my friends! Community is itself something that is both critical and often overlooked by modern Socialists.

The close knit communities of rural Russia, Abruzi, and Russo-Spain all boast similarities, yet of all of them only the Russo-Spanish have a pre-conceived notion of a duty to their communities. While this is similar to the Rural Socialism that was defeated within several pre-Revolution states, the concept of instilling a loyalty not only to the Communalist Ideal but also one’s Commune will allow our new society to not benefit form a people who look to improve their surroundings constantly, but also from a highly mobilized ideological base that will allow the omnipresent Party of Abruzi, Russia, and most Marxist-Leninist States to be downsized to a more contemporary political organization.

I end this abruptly, not for a lack of words to say but because of a desire for the reader to wonder, what will be done when I am gone? When I and my Comrades are dead and passed, it shall fall to you, the youth, to seize the reins and direct our glorious society forward! You, the youth, the worker, the farmer, it will be up to you to build upon the thoughts and ideals of me and mine. The Proletarian may be abolished with the classes, but a revolutionary vanguard will always remain critical.

Remember my friends, the price of a successful Revolution will be a constant battle against Stagnation!
