Meh, she hates beer. Although replace it with something else, and it could work. Also think there needs to be some problem resolution in all of it.

Perhaps Zeno ends up finding out that the characters are just figments of her imagination, (the characters, who have, up to this point, been the most certain things in the story), and with such the characters seem to disappear from existence.

Time then passes, Zeno is in a state of trying to figure out what happened, but then, at the very end of the story, Zeno spots the characters (it would seem) walking in the streets, and is confused. Then, a big octopus brushes past her and whispers something in her ear.
With that, Zeno knows that what she's seeing is real, and that the characters haven't disappeared all along.
She makes some little comment, and then, Minoriteeburg, who turns out to be sitting somewhere near her, holds up a beer and says his catchphrase.
