The Hallowed Halls of Fielding (IC Thread)

Postby Ganos Lao » Wed Jul 20, 2011 4:30 pm

OOC: This is the IC thread of the Fielding RP - only those who signed up can post here.

Out of all the academies, boarding schools, and private schools of the Pansentient Queendom, none had excelled moreso often then Fielding Prepatory Academy. Here was - perhaps - the most notoriously elitist, yet most critically acclaimed, house of education that the Ganosians had ever known, next to the few others that dotted the island. Indeed, Fielding had it all - powerful sports teams, critically acclaimed teachers, and phenomenally successful students. But it was scorned by certain groups as elitist, the very embodiment of the hideous aristocracy and the stranglehold of the rich over the lower classes. The headmaster of Fielding, a Barcid by birth, was known to lampoon such groups, decrying their hypocrisy - hating the so called slavery of the rich by promoting slavery of their own kind, as he had observed in the countries such groups idolized. Like a true Motokatan, he scorned the whole lot of them. But he was a Punic man, not a Motokatan Asian, although he had admired the Motokatans, even allowing his son, who was already out of Fielding, to marry Yuri Sakamoto, a humble Motokatan lady. But as Headmaster Barca overlooked his notes for the upcoming school term, he looked out his window to see the crowds of students - newbies - walking towards the front doors. With a smirk, he left his room and made his way to the auditorium.

Tucked away somewhere in the province of Devonheavenshire was this noble academy - the source of many intellectuals and athletes alike over the decades. Managing to survive the Ganosian Civil War relatively unscathed due to the, um, activities of her custodians, Fielding was once again basking in her fame - indeed, many foreigners were given scholarships to attend, but, like all Fielding students, it would not be easy for them. There would be hurdles, many of them. Fielding alumni still speak of the arduous school years they went through. With the new school year having arrived, the veteran students were watching crowds of foreigners and locals alike head towards the auditorium. As all the new students got sent to the auditorium for the orientation, they were told to sit down and stay silent by the headmaster of Fielding who would begin to speak to the newbies. His tone was grim and forceful. The veteran students feared him, if only because he was so intolerant of typical youthfulness that to act like typical Ganosian youth, around him, was anathema. Veteran students snickered at the newbies, sometimes telling them to beware the headmaster and, at other times, snobby girls who wore their uniforms in a way to expose their sassy rebellious sides, would examine the new girls to see if any could be recruited for their clique. Even non-humans were in attendance. It was the first time that this had ever happened, but they would be judged just like human students would be. Elven, kitsune, and even Saradians were spotted in their uniforms. No one seemed to care much.

As everyone sat in their seats, the headmaster approached the podium. With ice cold words, he immediately silenced the crowd.

"Good morning. As we begin the new school year together, there are many groups that deserve thanks for their efforts. Our staff cannot be forgotten, of course. They are passionate instructors and I am sure that all of those here will give them their complete and full attention."

Everyone was silent. The headmaster captivated his audience with relative ease. He went on, staying silent for a moment, though, as if to test the waters. "I thank the parents for their contributions to our endowment this year. We have been entrusted with your sons and daughters, and we do not take this great responsibilities lightly. It is our hope that your sons and daughters will be the beneficiaries of our good work here. Thank you for working with us, especially when your children make poor choices. Hopefully, they won't make too many of those - remember that we do not tolerate that crap around here. Failure to co-operate will be severely punished."

He looked over the crowd of new students for a moment, as if to contemplate what he was gonna be dealing with. He knew he could have his way with them all, implanting in their heads - amidst all that goddamn pop culture claptrap - the idea of fearing him. Tis better to be feared then loved, right? "I will tell you that at Fielding, we produce the leaders of men and women. We do not take the easier road here. We take the harder road. There are many ex-students of Fielding that will testify to the truth of that. That is why your parents sent you here instead of some public school in a Wagdoggie ghetto. Your professors will demand academic excellence. It will be expected of you. You will prove your knowledge every day, and any tutors you care to pay to produce homework will not be there when you are interrogated and your knowledge is put to the test in your orals."

He smirked at the thought of humiliating cheaters before he continued. "We expect excellence in everything. It is here that you will take the first step on the path that you walk in the world. You will form the social relationships that will serve you well in the future. You will feed your body in Fielding sports, and we will feed your soul in Chapel. For those of other religions, you are free to use Chapel time for your own means - for your own way of worshiping whatever deity you prefer to follow. If you have no religion, try to use that time to study."

Once the speech was wrapped up, Headmaster Hasdrubal Barca overlooked the crowd one last time before withdrawing - allowing the new students to get sorted into their dorm rooms. He muttered something about the newbies before making his way back to his office. In the meanwhile, the new students - foreign and local - were being sorted out. Each were given a dorm. They were then told who their roomates would be. They were told that they had to always wear their uniforms. The snotty girls picked out a few girls today for recruitment purposes while the jocks tried to see if any new boys would be open to joining the Fielding sports teams - the athletic girls did this, as well. Entire groups of newbies were being assailed by recruiters. One of the newcomers was Elissa Barca, who turned out to the the headmaster's daughter - this Punic beauty was renowned for her fair looks and sharpened tongue but she had no clique nor club in which she was a part. Asherah Barca was not the only celebrity. There was Clarissa, the daughter of the Mayor of Quinnstown, in Thornfield, as well as Darla Knickerbocker - whose father was a Dutch Ganosian businessman. There was members of the various noble families - Morgendorffer and Barksdale and even Trelawney. Sarah Turell, whose father was a diplomat, was around as well, renowned for her raunchy, flirtatious attitude towards others. Princess Vivian, one of Quinn's younger sisters, even enrolled alongside her friends from the Royal Court. Finally, last but not least, were the non-human children but there was even Princess Irikah, the human/reptilian mixed blood. She was the daughter of a human woman and a reptilian man - a relative of Queen Quinn, no doubt, since the woman was one of Quinn's distant relatives, - and she usually hung out with Vivian as her best friend, known as ''those princesses'' to everybody else who knew them. All these girls were around the school; for the local boys, girls like these could be quite appealing. Even Irikah, the Fielding star swimmer, could have been to some guy - although, to be honest, people found her both exotic and scary at the same time. But this was what Fielding was. A mosaic of people and possibilities.

Xerxes passed by each of the recruiters, allowing for them to approach him. He waited to see which confronted him first, as he'd probably decide to join one of them. Being raised in Legionica, especially in the high-class districts of Romanius, Xerxes seemed like an elitist. And he acknowledged that, as he thought he deserved the praise. His father had taken control of the country at 15, and Xerxes was 16. Eventually, when his father stepped down, he would lead his country. But in order to take that throne, he would have to learn here. This is where it all starts. His jacket fit him snugly, much unlike the togas of his homeland. Hopefully, a dueling club, or perhaps a tactical warfare group would be available for him to join. These skills would aid him later in life. Xerxes's mother was Judith, daughter of a well-known Ganosian Civil War hero. Xerxes had hoped being of Ganosian decent would bring him under the eyes of possible allies and others who wished to use his talents. The hustle and bustle of the people around him snapped Xerxes back into reality. Hoping to gain a new friend with his new dorm-mate, Xerxes waited for someone to approach him and announce who he would be sharing a room with.

“My name is Sho Hayatsu, and I come from Samuraikoku to this great country of Ganosia. I hope I will do well in the Hallowed Halls of Fielding, and that the education I get will make me fit to be a diplomat in the future. But, hopefully, I’ll meet some great people!"

A young boy with a plain white shirt, black pants and shoes was sitting on a bus, carrying two large bags, and a small backpack, had this thought as the bus was approaching what was going to be his high school, the Hallowed Halls of Fielding in Ganosia. He had always been interested in visiting this land, ever since the Sanada Mission’s success, and Shôgun Yukimura Sanada’s upcoming marriage with Miss Esther Alakeshwara. Ever since childhood, Sho had wanted to go abroad and visit as many nations as possible, and thanks to the Sanada Mission, an opportunity arised for him to study in Ganosia, and there was no way he would let it slide. He was adventurous by heart, and an education abroad would definitely benefit him if he was to pursue a diplomatic career in the future.

Getting down from the bus that carried him and the other students to the academy, the first thing that Sho Hayatsu felt was the blinding sunlight in his eyes. When he could stir again, he saw a gigantic, majestic-looking marble building in front of him, reading “The Hallowed Halls of Fielding”. A very extensive courtyard filled with trees and gardens encircled the building, intersected by marble paths. As many students ran to and fro, Sho entered the school’s main hall. At the reception, he didn’t have to wait long before a secretary came to meet him. After she asked for the necessary documents he was required to present, he unzipped his backpack, taking out a plastic folder, which he promptly delivered to her.

At that point, a certain sense of nervousness overcame Sho. What if there was some mistake with the documents? He had checked them once and again many times, he didn’t want to be left outside the school by any mistakes. But, the secretary finished reading and smiled. Informing him that everything was alright, he would be directed to his dorm room. As customary in Samuraikoku, Sho bowed down in appreciation in response.

He didn’t have to wait long before an usher came to guide him to the room where he would be, even offering to carry one of his bags. Sho accepted out of politeness, since it wasn’t really a problem, and they made it through a common room with several well-made beds. After giving him a quick showing of the bedroom facilities, and leaving, Sho was left alone in the room, apparently the first one there.

He non-chalantly picked up his bags and left them on a randomly picked bed, nothing that would gather too much attention. In a personal wardrobe, he made sure he left his clothes properly hanged and folded, and he stored some of his personal belongings in there – A bamboo Shinai and a Samurai armor suit, sign of his martial arts training, a handheld videogame and a laptop, and some comic books for his idle time.

Not sure what to do after he properly set up, he decided to wait in the room, and take out his laptop until someone else arrived. If he was to explore the school later, having someone else with him seemed to be the best choice.

He noted that his hands were still red. His palms still felt raw, felt as if they were still burning. His father had forced him to the Temple of Origin to pray to the Hallowed Fëanturi - the Masters of Spirits, the brothers Námo; Lord of Death and Judgment, and Irmo; Lord of Dreams and Desires. He had prayed, desperately trying not to drop the Tanyasalpë, a sacred object that was aflame. His hands twitched as he recalled how it burned, how his eyes had watered but he had dared not stutter, he had dared not stop the chanting, "Alcarinqua nán Fëanturi, man tulyaryelmë mi Sáme, nam mahtanë úmëa merye amartolmë mi fírima úcarë. Á lantanelmë yárafairë ar etatanentë? Ar sín yotúrë o mendelma, carintë yellonnalma mi engië ara tyurmelë ilu lavoronda." The Tanyasalpë would not leave permanent scarring his father had told him but your hands will be red and feel raw for a few days. "The Holy Tanyasalpë will give you its warmth, it will purge away all your sins and you shall leave here pure." Oh how it hurt though, how his hands felt as if they were about to burst into flame. It is said that some priors, the insane ones, would "bathe" themselves in Flames of Enlightenment. He had seen his father do it once before. His Father had covered his body from head to toe in some strange liquid almost jelly like. He then prostrated himself before the Fire got up and walked into it. He told his son that it was rapture to bathe in the warmth of the Fëanturi. He had emerged some minutes later unscathed, though all his hair had burned away. That was the only time he had every seen his father smile.

Imrahil had not seen his father since the day he was in Temple, That was two days before I left, Imrahil recalled. Though his mother, his loving mother had seen him away, "Remember Imri, my boy, mind what people do not just what they say. For deeds will betray a lie." She had told him, time and time again. It was her personal maxim. After all, she was a Colonel in the infamous Imperial Security Bureau. The ISB, feared and awed alike. It was said that an Arda Tuluvan citizen could not sit down to a meal without each dish being duly noted and recorded by the ISB. They knew everything, where every citizen was, all their secrets. Everything that happened in the Arda Tuluva. Everything. And his mother knew many and more. His father was feared by the devoted and the non-believers alike and his mother feared by the citizenry. That thought amused Imrahil who chuckled to himself, it would be nice to be at a school in which very few - most likely none - would know who is parents are. In Vinyamar everyone knew his father was the Grand Inquisitor head of the Inquisition - yet another one of the Empire's several secret police agencies and enforcers of the faith - which made him the de facto head of the police as well. Then there was his mother head of the ISB Angulónor Division.

But that was back in Arda Tuluva. He was in Ganosia now, a stranger in a strange land. He made his way into the halls with the rest of the students. He was being greeted by many of the Ganosian students. He would bow in politeness demanded by Arda Tuluvan honor and shake their hands. They still hurt. He would simply state, "Greetings, Imrahil Ehtelion." or "A pleasure, I am named Imrahil." and the like to these recruiters and his new fellow students. His grasp of the language was passable, though thick with the flowery, melodic accent of common to Arda Tuluvans. He had first began learning the the tongue spoken by the Ganosians a little more than a year ago when his parents declared he was to study in Ganosia.

"In this vast expanse, that is sheltered by evil and led astray,
she will be the beacon of light in the darkness, to the warriors of the Fëanturi,
and to all who follow the true Path to salvation. With the wisdom of the ages,
she will lead us to glorious victory over any and all unbelievers."
-The Visions of Olórin 36:1-5, The Book of Origin

It was early in the day when Yuuki took her first step onto Ganosian Soil. She heard about this country when it was all over the news, once ran by a loony cult figure then a major war now a more stable country run by a well meaning but quite vein queen by the name of Quinn. Still in the short time since then the country quickly pulled together and things started making reputations for it self including this school she was attending. Her parents thought it would be good for her to study abroad in a country like Ganosia quite a distance from Motokata but worth the trip. After taking the taxi to the school she sat and listened to the headmaster's speech. The man was quite intimidating and dominating, no doubt much taller than her. She stood at 5'3 pretty typical for her age and race and she had to guess he was at least 6 feet tall added to his very commanding voice as he told of the school's reputation for absolute academic perfection and achievement.

The school was quite lovely in its beauty well maintained grounds and a lovely day made this such a nice time to have arrived. Yuuki really wasn't nervous or frightened nor homesick. Sure she missed her home now but she was still very excited and happy to be here at a school like this. Still as a foreigner she wondered how she would fit in. Ganosians had a reputation for being snobby just for being Ganosian. At least she had the wealth part down fine her family was loaded. She looked around at some of her fellow students also hailing from all corners of the globe most looked well to do she really couldn't imagine anyone of a lower class was here. But she also saw an abundance of non-humans here as well which was quite surprising. Motokata does have Non-Humans but for the most part non humans were pretty limited to very isolated parts of the nation due to social stigma and racial pride. she was a proud Asian but not as fevorent as some of her other countrymen and women.

When the headmaster's speech ended she went about to see if she could meet anyone and greet still she was getting a grip on the language of Ganosia and mostly she smiled and nodded at those that did to her.

Each student was guided to their specific dorm rooms - the boys went to the Boys' Wing while the Girls to the Girls' Wing - and within moments, each student discovered who their roommates would be - Vivian and Irikah, for example, were able to be roomies in their own dorm room. But unlike these princesses, no one else had such privileges. Not even the infamous Starlets had such privileges. The Starlets were the elitist sisterhood of schoolgirls whose entire lives were wrapped around, so it seemed, the enslavement of boys and the bullying of lesser beings - that is, the girls who were incapable of being Starlets. The Starlets were Fielding's infamously elitist ciique of wealthy girls whose lives revolved around partying, boys, fashion, and bullying those below them. They had the most expensive electronics and clothes and were prone to bouts of wanton promiscuity, drinking, and contempt for the common man. A Starlet emissary approached certain girls amongst the newbies who seemed "good enough" to become initiates into the clique while Starlet matriarchs could be seen around their boyfriends. The leader of the Starlets was Lucy Rowe - the bisexual brat dripping with sex appeal and venom. Born into an Anglo-Ganosian dynasty of businessmen and sycophants, she was known as "Lulu" to her buddies, but also to the girls who feared her every word. Her associate walked alongside with her down the hall. This girl was Miranda - "Miri" - O'Leary, who was essentially the administrator of Lulu's will, the executor of the all-encompassing evil that it was. But if you did not cross the Starlets, you need not have feared them. When both girls spotted Xerxes, they stopped in their tracks and studied him, for a moment, before they merely walked, almost deliberately past him and only him, as if to entice him to learn of them. A Starlet, after all, was usually gorgeous - if only due to all the makeup and exercise and vomiting they committed themselves to. But it was only Miranda who bothered to look back at him, only to see him being paired up with Sho as his roomie. Miranda made a note to keep tabs on him. With Xerxes and Sho shown to their rooms, Imrahil was greeted by the Elven students of Fielding, and even a Saradian here and there passed him. Vivian and Irikah could be seen standing around where Yuuki was, but neither princess bothered to talk to her at all, being wrapped up in their own conversation. Of course, soon enough, all the students were shown where their dorms were and were told, thus, to get ready for their first classes - for Yuuki, it was mathematics alongside classmates Imrahil and Xerxes. For Sho, it was Ganosian history. Each of the four would get to go to each class anyway.

Within the classroom for mathematics, there was the very animated Mr. Metcalfe. He would attack the board with a fury for a few seconds and then lecture to the class for five minutes before returning to his pride and joy, to covering the board with mathematical arcana. Xerxes got put next to Sarah Turell, the lollipop licking girl who was subtly teasing Metcalfe as best as she could. She had some sort of all-day sucker in her mouth. Kids would bring candy or soda to class, and as long as they minded their matters, they could snack or drink during a "lecture". It certainly seemed that the girl, whoever she was, was minding her matters. But that's when it happened. That was when it happened. Slowly..and quite deliberately...Sarah Turell moved the sucker all the way to the back of her mouth...and then, holding it by its paper stem, moved it all the way out to her lips, embracing the round ball with her lips sensually and slowly, rhythmically drawing it out, before sending it back in again, sometimes rapidly, sometimes slowly. She kept her eyes locked on Metcalfe the entire time. Her eyes said just as much as her mouth was saying. She soon caught the eye of Metcalfe up at the front of the room. Sarah gave him a high-beam look and her work with the sucker would have levitated the back tendons of an eighty-year old scoutmaster. Metcalfe, embarrased, turned away. Sarah smiled and then looked back to her notes while Professor Metcalfe tried to keep his mind fixated on his beloved formulas. Occassionally, he'd ask Yuuki or Imrahil for answers while Sarah, sitting next to Xerxes, didn't seem to notice him at all, as if his seat was unoccupied. Kandajha was in Math class - she was sitting next to Miranda, while, in Ganosian history, the other AHSCAN girl ended up sitting besides Lulu, who didn't seem to care about her at all.

In the Ganosian history class, Sho had to watch this documentary about the Wars of Unification. This was the series of conflicts that formed Ganosia. The conflicts that Yukimura Sanada's wife's ancestors fought in. The documentary ran through the roster of characters. Eytukan Alakeshwara, the Man of the Mountains, and then the Anyanya - snake venom - an all female unit of soldiers who still existed today as a Special Forces unit in the Ganosian military. The documentary ran through the entirety of the conflicts, ending with the coronation of Tagor Gursoy as the First King of the united Ganosia. Sitting around in this class were Vivian and Irikah. The half-human, half-reptilian Irikah was sitting next to Sho on his left. Vivian was on his right. He was in between both princesses of Ganosia! Surely he would have kept his cool.

Rehan sat silently, eyes almost glazing over as the man spoke. This lecture, she saw as relatively unimportant. Instead, General Vaneni's visit hung in the back of her mind. "I know you will do us proud, Rehan. Act with honor. You are as dear to me as a daughter. And now you will become the face of our nation in Ganos Lao. I expect nothing less than your best." Those words meant more to her than anything else in the world.

The sea of people as they left the assembly made her uncomfortable, as did these civilian clothes. Excellence in everything, they demanded? At least it was accompanied by less swearing than her drill sergeant's demands. Rehan smiled fondly at the memory, recalling her PT days. Perhaps referring to him as "Squat Monkey" was unkind, but she loved every minute of it. She would do her best, and if that wasn't enough...well, she would handle it with all the dignity she could manage. Gods, she wanted some fresh air. Maybe a run or a fight.

She wasn't sure how to handle the recruiters and other students, so she ducked her head down and focused on her walk. It was more of a march, in all honesty. Even with her head lowered, her back was ramrod straight. The cadence running in her head kept her from slouching or walking slowly. Non humans were strange, since she'd never encountered one before, but she'd been drilled hard with military doctrine. There were no ethnic groups, no races, no traditional enemies. As Siran had shouted in their first inspection, You are all green now!

Rehan set down her duffle bag on her cot and hunted around for her schedule. Math. Damn, not her favorite subject. Still, it was important for ballistics. She slipped in with her bookbag and took a seat in an empty chair. She had to fumble a little to get her textbook out, but on the bright side, their teacher seemed distracted. Very, very distracted. Heavens and earth, how could one girl manage to be so provocative with a confection? Rehan would never understand. She found nothing in mathematics that put her in a particularly interested frame of mind.

Yuuki arrived in her class, Mathematics a subject that runs in her family she was pretty good with it. She came in set her stuff down next to the first person she could find sitting down. No time like now to make a friend or two with a small group of boys gathered around chatting "Hi, how you doing? Yuuki Arie, nice to meet you. My first day here. oh of course it is, how obvious it is." she giggled a bit nervously "I'm from Motokata." she gave a polite curtsey out of forcible habit. Usually only done for an adult who is her superior or an upperclassmen.

For Kandajha a young girl from one of the poorest little islands in the world in an already poor country this was beyond her imagination. An amazing built school where her schools back home were little shacks built on the water front. Brick and mortar stood before her. It was beautiful the amount of wealth this school had. though she was poor she managed to buy a nice looking uniform and a few other supplies to last her the year in Ganosia. She already had a long voyage from her island to here and she as a bit run down but she was still okay. Long stormy and rough it was she was tossed in the cargo hold because she could not get a cabin on a luxury line that ran from AHSCA to Ganosia. She was used to it kind of when she traveled by boat but this was even longer than traveling between her home islands. When she arrived she got the school just in time for the speech and what a speech it was. She wasn't sure if this was the guy who awarded her the full scholarship to the school if it was she was greatful. But the speech had her thinking about him, it put her off a bit as AHSCAians while a strong work ethic were quite friendly and easy going. "Dio mia ĉi tiu Guy estas ruĝa... " she muttered to her self in her native toung. She shook it off no way, he was just wanting the best that didn't make him a bad person. Kadajha sat next to a girl she said hello but was given a cold shoulder. "Okay then." She took out her supplies and prepared

---

Counter to Kandajha was Millie a young neko girl who was large and in charge. Well large in the figurative sense. she had taken control of her home island of Animalpolis. She was able to afford a nice cabin on her salary on the ship be able to pay her tuition in full and really anything else she wanted. She was unaware a fellow citizen of the federation was traveling with her. Still though Millie looked out for her fellow islanders as opposed to Coronans. She didn't hate her neighbors but ANap was always an island to it self. She was really enjoying the school she came too. She felt a great place for her to be. She was going to learn a lot of new things and become a better leader for her people. She was loved by her people and everyone supported this. She would take what she learned and apply to her island and make them better people in return. She took her seat in her class of Ganosian History. "Hmm interesting." She liked history she felt she would like this class. The girl next to her did not seem to pay much attention to her. She was a bit of an outcast being a neko.

Sho watched the documentary about the Wars of Unification, not only with a sense of interest, but also with a deep understanding. The history of his homeland of Samuraikoku had developed in a similar manner. When the names of Vivian and Irikah were mentioned, Sho looked at them, making an effort not to disturb them, and nearly went red when he found out they were at his both sides. He thought it would be a good idea to talk to them in the break, but, these two girls being princesses, he felt rather shy. In the meantime, he considered it best not to worry about that at the moment and better concentrate in the class.

Xerxes paid close attention to the Mathematics teacher, hanging on every word. he girl next to him, being as teasing as she was, was obviously out of the question for conversation. Although he had his mothers partying soul, he also had his fathers class and high expectations. Thinking back to earlier, he recalled the group of girls that seemed to turn their noses up higher than anyone else. They could either be elegant, or just bitches. Either way, he'd have to wait until later to finally get a good examination of them. Sharing a room with the younger Sho was no problem with Xerxes, as he was a nice enough boy, and Xerxes hoped he could befriend the Samurai.

Every now and then, passing through the halls of the school, Xerxes would be stopped by some younger student, knowing of his fathers now legendary deeds, or by an older man, saying they once knew his mother. Xerxes knew of her past, but preferred to forget it for the most part. The females, now apparent to Xerxes as Starlets, had shown little to no interest in Xerxes, but he assumed that was for most people here. After further examination, this school had an extremely complicated and complex social structure, of which Xerxes had been intrigued to learn about. Soon enough, he would learn first hand.

Sho was still on his computer when the dorm room opened, and in came a tall, dark haired guy with an athletic build. Sho immediately got up to greet him.

Sho: "Hello! Seems you're to be my roomate! My name is Sho Hayatsu, and I come from Samuraikoku."

He approached him, his hand extended.

Xerxes: "Hello. My name is Xerxes Sanguine, I'm from Legionica."

Xerxes accepted the hand and smiled, shortly before sitting his things down.

Xerxes: "You are a Samurai, then? You look unlike most of the people from Samuraikoku I have seen before..."

Sho: "Ah! What have you seen before?"

Xerxes: "Well, for the most part, Asians. But I assume you're about to tell me why you are Caucasian? In Legionica, we have multiple states and cultures. My father and I are Classic Legionican, tan skin and dark hair."

Xerxes sat down upon a bed, wordlessly claiming it as his own.

Sho: "Oh, I see. In Samuraikoku, we have multiple races and cultures too. That is why Caucasians are not any more common than Asian people. What we don't really have many of, are non-humans. But that's not because we don't want them, that's because not many of them have come so far. In the main island of Owari, where I come from, the majority of people are caucasians, while Asians tend to be scattered among the three remaining islands, especially in the southern Mikawa."

Xerxes:"Ahh... That makes much sense to me, now. Well... Do you like videogames? I know it is a question unrelated to the current conversation, but I would like to get a grasp on your interests. The more we have in common, the better off we'll be, I think. Not to say differences are bad, that is. You are... 15, yes?"

Rehan sat quietly until the lecture was over, drumming her pencil restlessly against the desk. She hadn't met her roommate yet, or gotten a chance to go outside. She didn't even really know where to go as far as these groups went. Who would take her?

As soon as the bell rang, she grabbed her army jacket off the back of her chair and loped out through the halls. There was a bit of a break, so she set her bag down under a chair and went on a run. Everything in the world felt clearer with the thump of the ground under her thin-soled shoes and the rush of wind against her face. The cadence came without a thought.

Up in the morning before day,
I don't like--no way
I eat my breakfast too damn soon
Hungry as hell by noon.

I went to the Mess SGT on my knees.
"Mess SGT, Mess SGT, feed me please."
Mess SGT said with a big old grin,
"If you wanna be a bravo Ranger,
You've got to be thin."

Yeah, I'm hardcore
lean and mean,
fit to fight
outta sight.

One mile,
no sweat.
Two miles,
better yet.

Three miles
I can make it
You can make it.

Hardcore,
lean and mean,
on the scene,
Army green!

As soon as she finished the run, she grinned and exhaled with a sigh. Now she felt better. Hell, ready to meet her roommate. She headed back towards the building with a spring in her step.
Do you know, my son, with what little understanding the world is ruled?

(He grabs it and shows it to him, revealing he was playing a soccer game, paused).

Sho: "Would you like to have a game or two while we're idle?"

Mimiru came in to her math class as it was about to start. She saw quite a few already from all over. A very diverse school which is a bit unusual for a prep school. But she wasn't complaining. Ganosia had a built quite a reputation in such a short time going from tinpot despotic state to fully functioning monarchy. Something her country has felt in the past. She took notes on her lesson in Algebra she was keeping up with it enough.

Xerxes: "yes, actually. It is good that you are a fan of videogames. I take up videogame scripting and building as a hobby, aside from combat study and technique. I was hoping to have a playtester, sometime. If you are willing, I could allow you access to the beta. Your computer is foreign-built, is it not?"

After examining the computer, Xerxes continued to refer back to Sho about how to play it.

Xerxes: "I assume you have examined the Starlets here?"

Sho: "Starlets? So far I haven't come across any of them. I do know that two Ganosian princesses sit with me in the History class, but I wouldn't call them Starlets. I have so far spoken a word or two with people, because I'm just setting in."

(He pays attention to Xerxes' indications).

Xerxes: "Yes, I thought you would say that. Neither have I, for the most part. Taking into consideration, I've gotten looks from some girls and boys, and I've been stopped for recognition every now and then. The people in this country are... different, to say the least. But it is not negative. I am half-Ganosian, anyway."
