Making Sure You Have Access To Things That Kill People was our provisional slogan, but Defense Solutions From Tomorrow, Available Today sounded a lot nicer.

Do your own maths. I have enough on my plate without doing something that you are smart enough to do on your own.

OOC: Also, all designs in this storefront are protected by RP patent 'law'. If you nick my designs I will hunt you down and make sure you pay up or you will take down the design you nicked. :)

Pennington Defense Consortium, Incorporated was formerly known as Pennington Defense Solutions until late 2010, when the company reformulated under the financial management placed in charge by Charles Pennington III, long-time owner of the company. PDCI offers a wide range of aircraft, small arms, mechanized infantry, and other defense equipment. All sales must be pursuant to PL. §65-04, which only permits certain equipment to be exported by PDCI and McConnell Defense, Arkinesia's two largest defense companies.

History

In the late 1940s, McConnell Defense Industries dominated the Arkinesian arsenal, but the quality of these items was dodgy. Upon his return from The Great War in 1948, Marine Captain Thomas Pennington, brother of Marine Colonel Charles Pennington, Jr., founded a gunsmith's store in Pennington City with financial backing from his father, Charles Pennington, Sr. Pennington Gunsmiths was a popular shop for those interested in the use of firearms, which, at the time, was primarily returning soldiers. In 1955, experiencing much profit, and having experimented in designs based on the in-use AP-2 pistol, Thomas opened a new business, Pennington Defense Corporation. Within a year, it received its first contract. The F-3 Spectre, similar in design to the Amerikian F-4 Phantom II, with design alterations made by Garrett Patterson, an aerospace engineer, and accepted through the 20th Century Fighter Programme in 1958. Patterson also designed PDC's second winning contract, the F-6 Lynx, for the Future Freedom Fighter Programme in 1959.

In the 1960s, the PDC AN42 and AN10 rifles served in Arkinesia's military, both being designs of Thomas Pennington. In 1967, PDC designed a new attack helicopter, the AH-2 Rattlesnake, and this became accepted in the Light Attack Helo Programme of 1968. By 1977, Pennington Defense Corp. was responsible for almost all of Arkinesia's defense purchases.

In 1991, Arkinesia commissioned two new defense programs. The AP3 Programme was a program to find a replacement for the long-standing AP-2 .45cal pistol. The second program was the Advanced Strike Fighter Programme. The AP3 Programme had two .380cal pistols. McConnell's Model 226 pistol competed with Pennington's Model 91. Ultimately, after much feuding over a potential winner, the PDC Model 91 won out, and served until 2008. McConnell's Model 226, however, was found very commonly in the hands of militants and terrorists worldwide.

The ASFP, however, was no contest. Pennington Defense Corp., which in 1993 became Pennington Defense Solutions, entered the F-22 Raptor, licensed by the Amerikians. The Raptor handily defeated McConnell's Su-33-esque design. ASFP II, in 2001, ended little differently. McConnell's Su-37 lookalike was handily defeated by the PDS F-25 Shuriken. In 2010, the ASFP III competition found Lyran Arms' F-24 Spectre II the winner, a plane redesignated from its original LY-910 Shadowhawk name.

Today, Pennington Defense Consortium, Incorporated supplies two nations with over 90% of their equipment. PDCI has production licenses from Yohannes and Lyras to build Yohannesian IFVs, and Lyran fighter jets and AA turrets. As of yet, these have not been approved for export, pending negotiations.

AN22A1 Assault Rifle

Postby Arkinesia » Sun Jun 19, 2011 5:45 pm

Image
"The Ultimate Assault Rifle Of The 1990s."
Shown with holographic sight

Conceptualization

In 1987, the Arkinesian Federal Combined Forces sought a new assault rifle to replace its increasingly dated AN42 line. The AN42A2 was seen as a lily-livered attempt by the Defense Ministry to placate soldiers in the field. The End-Century Rifle Programme was commissioned by Defense Minister Jacob Coulter in December 1987, and the two big contractors, McConnell Defense Industries and Pennington Defense Solutions brought their answers. The AN22A1 was Thomas Pennington's last design before his passing in 1988 in a horrific car accident.

Design

There were several requirements for the new weapon. First of all, it had to be a gas operation with a rotating bolt. However, this presented several other options within the umbrella. After reports from ASOC that the AN77 and AN10, both of which used direct impingement, was often unreliable in difficult climates with a variety of contaminants, the decision was made to design the weapon with a piston firing system.

Arkinesia's military wished to move away from the 7.62x51mm ammunition it had been using in its G3, AN10, and consequently AN42. Thus, Thomas Pennington designed a weapon that was much lighter than conventional Arkinesian carbines and rifles of the time, in order to further increase convenience of the weapon. The end result was the AN22A1, a weapon weighing only 6.7 pounds unloaded, 2 full pounds lighter than the AN42 it replaced. The AN22A1 handily defeated McConnell's Model 4 carbine in the ECRP, and was adopted officially in 1990.

Unlike previous weapons in the Confederate States' arsenal, the AN22 lacked the metal stampings common on weapons used later in the post-war era. Instead, Thomas Pennington opted to frame the new weapon around plastics and composites to save weight, in order to accommodate more types of soldier for the new weapon. Fewer soldiers were entering the service in shape, and the lighter weapon would make training much simpler and faster, it was proved.

The weapon was tested directly in the various climes to which it would most likely be subjected. Tests were conducted near Kotaselatan in the thick jungles of the Southern Islands. Finding ways to ensure continuous, fouling-free operation in humid conditions was considered important. Making use of proper cleaning kits, a common problem with the AN10 and AN77, increasing the volume of ejection porting via an ejection port for gas and other materials caught in the receiver, and reducing the time the bolt and ejection port are open all contributed to making the weapon more effective in humid climates. Many of these developments make the weapon more effective in all climates.

Purchase details

The AN22A1 is considered old tech, and as such is considered a Security Grade 3 purchase under Parliamentary Law §65-04. Any nation, regardless of diplomatic status towards the Confederate States, is authorized and permitted to purchase the AN22A1. AN22A1 fire modes are to be chosen by the purchaser--though any number may be selected, no choices will be considered a default choice. All fire modes marked with "(d)" are default firing modes.

AN22A2 Assault Rifle

Postby Arkinesia » Sun Jun 19, 2011 6:58 pm

Image
"Improvement On The Benchmark."
Shown with holographic sight and folding stock

Conceptualization

In the state of Saril, a model similar to the AN22A1, but with a more capable receiver, was needed in order to continue operations even while interrupted by sandstorms and other severe weather. To compensate, PDS was commissioned to develop a successor to the AN22, the AN22A2. To assist, John Price and Thomas Walker, two former special operators, were brought in to test and advise on the weapon's design. The result was finished with testing in 1993 and began frontline service in 1994.

Design

Little was changed about the interior of the AN22A1, contrary to popular belief. The exterior was toughened due to complaints of cracking in extreme temperatures, and the interior was made easier to clean with dry lubricants, making sand and dust less of a concern. The continued use of the lighter 5.56mm round kept weight low, and weight was in fact reduced with the introduction of composites and plastics.

The receiver's ejection system was altered to improve the ejection of foreign substances such as mud or sand, and with testing the receiver was improved with regards to the Over The Beach test, designed to find weaknesses in use when waterlogged. The receiver was better protected from the ejection port, improving safety when operating in dirty or wet environments, and enabling the weapon to be used with any type of lubricant safely. The barrel was redesigned with lighter components with similar heat resistance, dropping the weight of the weapon slightly.

One of the more unusual aspects of the design was a lack of Picatinny rails, which by the early 1990s were becoming fairly commonplace in many light rifles. While rails were above the receiver as they had been on most Arkinesian service weapons since the 1970s, the handguard still lacked rails. The reason given for this was that metal stampings would be complicated and expensive, an answer which continued to frustrate men in Arkinesian service until the introduction of the AN22A3 several years later.

Purchase details

The AN22A2 is now considered out of date if only because of its deactivation from all Arkinesian arsenals, including Confederate National Guard arsenals. As such, it is cleared for sale to Security Grade 3 and above nations.

AN22A3 Intermediate Rifle

Postby Arkinesia » Sun Jun 19, 2011 7:22 pm

Image
"A 21st Century Combat Rifle."
Shown with ACOG sight and foregrip

Conceptualization

In 2002, the Federalist Administration determined that the existing 5.56mm caliber was insufficient for 21st century combat operations. To accommodate this, the 21st Century Rifle Program was established. It was opened to Arkinesian, Manfigurutian, and Sarilian defense contractors. Lumerian Defense Corporation, McConnell Defense Industries, and Pennington Defense Solutions all offered designs for the new rifle, which for the sake of simplicity was to be designated AN22A3. In 2004, the AN22A3 entered frontline service in the Second Saril Conflict.

Design

The internal workings were not changed in a significant manner from the AN22A2. This was an intentional decision on the part of the designers of the 22A3. As it was, the receiver, firing system, and barrel were good working parts, and needed no change, but a more shock-absorbent weapon frame and stock were considered important parts of the new weapon. Composites and plastics are more prominent in the AN22A3 than the 22A2, as well as spring-loading and foam-filled parts for shock absorption.

Purchase details

Although the AN22A3 is recently retired from frontline service, the Confederate National Guard still uses it frequently. As such, the AN22A3 is considered a Security Grade 2 weapon, and can only be purchased by nations belonging to the Security Grade 2 group. Pennington Defense is however permitted to sell the AN22A3 to previous buyers of other weapon types. DPRs, however, are only for sale to SG2 nations.

Specifications and pricing

Standard chambering: 6.5mm Grendel
Additional chambering: 6.8mm SPC, 5.56mm NATO, 5.45mm Russian, 7.62mm Russian, 7.62mm NATO
Overall length: 40.8 in (1037mm)
Barrel length: 19.9 in standard (505mm) [18.9 in, 16.5 in, and 10.5 in barrels available on request)
Width: 3.1 in (78mm)
Height: 9.4 in (240mm)
Action: Gas-op, rotating bolt
Rate of fire: 700-900 rpm, depending on cartridge
Fire modes available: Semi-automatic (d), three-round burst (d), ten-round automatic (d), full automatic, six-round burst
Price: Single and bulk purchases are NS$1050. Production rights can be acquired by Security Grade 2 nations for NS$1,050,000,000, equivalent to a 1,000,000-weapon purchase. In DPR purchases of small arms, all possible fire mode designs are also transferred.

Image
"The Ultimate Combat Rifle For Modern War."
Shown with reflex scope, 14.5 in barrel, and rail-less handguard

Conceptualization

When the Libertarian Party regained control of Parliament for the first time since the early 1950s, The AN22A3 came into place, as the newly-minted Libertarian government could slide it on through as a placeholder for a future, more perfected weapon for Arkinesia's military. In 2006, this opportunity came to be as MP Neil Knight was elected President in an unprecedented landslide. In a speech at Thomas Pennington Combined Forces Base in Karyamakan, then-MP Knight promised to find the most promising design possible to replace the much-loved but occasionally unlikable AN22A3. In 2006, the Future Rifle Program was announced, and contractors throughout Sals Realm were contacted about entry. Pennington Defense won once again with the impeccable design, which was created, tested, and tried by special operators.

Design

The AN22A4 drew heavily on the AN22A3, while gaining greater expandability and accuracy over its predecessor. Increased reliance on shock-absorbent materials and composites resulted in the lightest combat rifle in Arkinesian service history, at just 4.7 pounds with 19.9 in barrel. In the AN22A4, Arkinesia also introduced interchangeable handguards. The A4 has the option of a slick handguard or RIS/RAS. The extensive use of Picatinny rails makes the AN22A4 not only a formidable combat weapon, but one that can be fitted according to the individual soldier's needs.

Purchase details

As the AN22A4 is in active service with the Arkinesian Confederate Combined Forces, it is available for sale to Security Grade 2 nations, and the domestic production rights are available to Security Grade 1 nations only. No exceptions may be served on either of these stipulations. The AN22A4 represents the forefront of modern infantry combat, and as such the Confederate States will only permit PDCI to sell these to the most trusted bidders.

AN91 Battle Rifle/SAW

Postby Arkinesia » Sun Jun 19, 2011 8:24 pm

Image
"The Forefront Of Squad Automatic Weapons."
Shown with red dot sight, 20-round box, and undermounted flashlight.

Conceptualization

In 2008, the M240 LMG was determined to be too heavy for the majority of troopers to carry into battle, and the LMG was largely being considered an inefficient weapon on its own with infantry. As such, Pennington Defense Solutions, immediately prior to becoming Pennington Defense Consortium, Incorporated, was commissioned to create a new battle rifle/squad automatic weapon that could be used in two roles at once effectively.

Jason Pennington, son of Thomas Pennington, set to work designing the new weapon. The ultimate result, the AN91, was warmly received and found to be an excellent infantry weapon. The M240 is now used on Arkinesian mechanized infantry, with the AN91 providing infantry- and squad-level support.

Design

The AN91 is designed to be a heavy-barreled rifle rather than a full-blown machine gun. As such, it can often get bogged down if fired too rapidly for too long. Barrel life in increased via use of composite materials and ventilation baffles in the RIS. The attached sights include a colored bar on the left-hand side of the viewpoint indicating the temperature of the barrel. As the barrel heats, the bar turns from dark blue to green to yellow to orange to dark red. When the bar disappears, the barrel is beyond operational usability.

Purchasing details

The AN91 is currently in active service with Arkinesian troops, however there is little in the way of advanced technology. As such, purchase of the hardware and DPR for this weapon are open to Security Grade 3 nations and up. Security Grades are laid out in the lobby of this storefront.

Specifications and pricing

Standard chambering: 7.62mm NATO
Additional chambering: 6.5mm Grendel, 6.8mm SPC, 5.56mm NATO, 7.62x54mm Russian, 7.62x39mm Russian

Barrel length: 20 in (508mm)
Width: 3.1 in (78mm)

Rate of fire: 750-1000 rpm, depending on cartridge and fire mode
Arkinesian Standard Magazines: 20-round box, 100-round C-Beta drum

AN105 Assault Rifle

Postby Arkinesia » Sun Jun 19, 2011 8:59 pm

Image
"The Finest Arctic Warfare Weapon Ever Designed."
Shown with 30-round banana magazine

Conceptualization

The AN105 was designed as a weapon that was low and could be easily concealed in snow without a decrease in performance. However, the applications became immediately apparent as a light DMR and long-range combat weapon using the balanced version of the 5.56mm NATO round. Best used as a weapon with bipods and tripods, a squad automatic using the C-Beta drum magazine also came into common use in arctic and tundra regions due to the incredible resistance to cold weather and snow entering the receiver and barrel.

Design

The AN105 was of course designed with arctic and tundras in mind. This meant a need for materials that could stand intense cold, and barrels, chambers, and internal housings that could still be combat effective even when wet or coated in powder or slush. SOG Five operatives, world-renowned for their expertise in arctic warfare, were involved in the design team that resulted in the AN105. The 105 has been used with great efficiency in tropical regions as well, with dive teams using them as guns that are effectively waterproof.

Purchase details

The AN105 is in current active service with the Confederate States, however, it is cleared for purchase by Security Grade 2 nations. Domestic production rights are cleared for Security Grade 2 nations as well.

Specifications and pricing

Standard chambering: 5.56mm NATO
Additional chambering: 6.5mm Grendel, 6.8mm SPC, 5.56mm NATO, 7.62x54mm Russian, 7.62x39mm Russian, 7.62mm NATO

Barrel length: 20 in (508mm)
Width: 3.1 in (78mm)
Height: 9.4 in (240mm)

"When You Need Punch On The Cheap."
Shown with shock-absorbing stock and compensator

Conceptualization

The AN70 was designed in anticipation of a need to create carbines and rifles for export, not just for the Arkinesian market. A heavy receiver and medium-weight barrel were two of the targets, as the 7.62x39mm Russian cartridge was considered optimal for an export-only weapon. The inexpensive cost and heavyweight power provided by the M1943 cartridge made it the obvious choice for the AN70. However, it is also packaged in other common cartridges on purchase request, i.e. the 5.56mm NATO cartridge, 7.62x54mm Russian, and 5.45x39mm M1974 Russian.

Design

The AN70's heavy receiver, a relic of the AN22A1/A2, figures prominently in the weapon's design. Optics that come with the weapon can be engineered out of the design with the purchase of the B-receiver. The B-receiver has Picatinny rails, which are compatible with a wide range of accessories. However, due to the constraints of the compensator, undermount rails are impossible to add to the design. Nevertheless, AN70s have shown up in a number of small-scale wars worldwide.

Purchase details

The AN70 is not purchased under contract by Arkinesian forces. As such, Security Grade 3 nations are permitted to purchase the firearm itself or the production rights to it. However, due to the personal interests of Pennington Defense Consortium, Incorporated, the AN70 may not be resold if production rights are purchased.

Specifications and pricing

AN14 Designated Marksman Rifle

Postby Arkinesia » Sun Jun 19, 2011 10:03 pm

Image
"Precision. Power. Dominance."
Shown with 4x optics and shock-absorbent stock

Conceptualization

In 2005, the new Libertarian Parliament demanded a designated marksman's rifle that could effectively be used by frontline regulars and whose use was interchangeable with the AN22 series, cutting down on training time for squadsmen. The only contractor to submit an entry was Pennington Defense, and the result was the AN14. Conceived as a powerful weapon using the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge that could be effective at medium ranges, the AN14 has successfully serviced Arkinesian troops in a number of domestic and foreign conflicts.

Design

The base of the weapon has roots in the AN22 series, with composites, a long barrel, and shock-absorbing materials. The barrel is derived from the HBAR version of the AN22. The stock is the only part on the weapon not available for an AN22 model.

Purchase details

The AN14 is in active service with the Arkinesian Confederate Combined Forces, but possesses no classified technology. Its powerful presence on the battlefield, however, has convinced Parliament to only approve the AN14 model for Security Grade 2 nations, and the production rights to be limited to Security Grade 1 nations only.

Specifications and pricing

Standard chambering: 7.62mm NATO
Additional chambering: 7.62x54mm Russian, .338 Lapua Magnum
Overall length: 44 in (1118mm)
Barrel length: 24 in (610mm)
Action: Gas-op, rotating bolt
Rate of fire: Semi-automatic only

AP2 Custom

Postby Arkinesia » Sun Jun 19, 2011 10:25 pm

Image
"The Handgun For The Discerning Guardian."

Conceptualization

First produced in 1951, the AP2 Custom is a firearm originating from the Pennington Gunsmiths days. The AP2 Custom was based on the AP2, but the grip and by extension magazine were lengthened, permitting for 12-round magazines, a first in the .45in pistol world. The AP2 Custom immediately became a favorite with special operators and match shooters. The AP2 Custom has also been a favorite of Arkinesian film directors for gangsters, as the longer grip makes the AP2 Custom one of the most intimidating and old-school looking guns in the country.

Design

If you know how an AP2 is designed, the AP2 Custom isn't much different. Essentially a combat-grade .45cal pistol with a 12-round instead of 8-round magazine.

Purchase details

Although a superb firearm, Parliament has seen no need to restrict the AP2 Custom's sales range. As such, Security Grade 3 nations may purchase this weapon. However, due to the custom nature of the weapon, no more than 5 may be ordered at once, and DPRs are not sold for this weapon. This is a custom-made specialty firearm.

Pricing

The AP2 Custom is sold for NS$1500, and special requests are often granted for this weapon. When ordering, if the purchaser wishes to make a special request, we will try to fulfill it.

AP3 Pistol

Postby Arkinesia » Sun Jun 19, 2011 11:20 pm

Image
"Nine Millimeters Of Murder."

Conceptualization

The AP3 came out of a sudden interest in the 9x19mm cartridge. Arkinesia's military needed a lighter pistol for its troops that lacked the penetration dangers of the .45 cartridge. Pennington Defense won with its .380 Model 91. This became known in service as the AP3.

Design

The AP3 is designed to be light, medium size, and easy to grip and accessorize as needed. The AP3 can easily accommodate flashlights, laser sights, and other similar equipment. It is a weapon designed for quick draws. The 15-round magazine ensures consistent mission success when using the weapon.

Purchase details

The AP3 is no longer used in the Arkinesian Confederate Combined Forces. It is cleared for purchase and production by Security Grade 3 nations.

Specifications and pricing

Weight: 33.2 oz (942g)
Length: 8.5 in (217mm)
Barrel length: 4.9 in (125mm)
Cartridge: 9x19mm Para
Action: Short recoil
Muzzle velocity: 1300 ft/s (396 m/s)
Magazines: 12-round detachable box, 15-round detachable box

AP4 Pistol

Postby Arkinesia » Sun Jun 19, 2011 11:43 pm

Image
"When You Want That Tango To Stay Down."

Conceptualization

The Second Saril Conflict dragged on, and many soldiers began reporting failures in their AP3s. Pennington Defense was commissioned to create a new weapon based on the .40cal round or larger. After much testing, the .45 ACP, used in the AP2, was chosen.

Design

The AP3 was designed to be a quicker-drawing, more accurate, more powerful weapon than the AP3--in other words, just better. The AP4 kept the double-digit magazine of the AP3, though losing a couple of rounds, but could be relied upon for 12 disabled targets when all rounds were used, whilst the AP3 regularly struggled to bring down its targets.

Purchase details

While the AP4 is an invaluable asset on the battlefield, Parliament has seen fit to allow the AP4 to be sold to Security Grade 3 nations.

Specifications and pricing

Weight: 1.9 lb (861g)
Length: 8.64 in (219mm)
Barrel length: 4.41 in (112mm)
Cartridge: .45 ACP
Action: Short recoil, DA/SA, DA/DAO
Effective range: 180 feet (55m)
Feed system: 12-round detachable box magazine
Sights: Patridge 3-dot type, tritium coloring, adjustable rear sights

The AP4 is still relatively inexpensive, at NS$600 each. If desired, production rights can be purchased at just NS$600,000,000, equivalent to 1,000,000 units.

AP5 Machine Pistol

Postby Arkinesia » Sun Jun 19, 2011 11:57 pm

AP5 at Confederate Marines Show, 2010
"When You Need A Lot Of Bullets And Have No Brains."
Shown with standard laser sight

Conceptualization

The Confederate Marines, dissatisfied with the AP4, approached Pennington Defense to create a machine pistol with an extended magazine, but even more compact than the AP4. Designers at Pennington took up the offer, and the result was the AP5, released in 2010.

Design

Like many modern machine pistols, the AP5 has an extended magazine, lacks a stock, and can take on a plethora of attachments. Also like many machine pistols, it uses the 9x19mm cartridge, eschewing the traditions of the late 1980s of using .45 ACP for such a purpose. 9mm was chosen due to its inexpensive pricetag and wide availability.

Purchase details

The AP5 is most suited to diplomatic guards and other guard services due to its concealability, reliability, efficiency, and price. Furthermore, Parliament has authorized its sale to Security Grade 3 nations.

Pricing

The AP5 can be purchased at a cost of NS$250 each. Production rights can be had for NS$250,000,000.

"For Efficiency, Speed, And Reliable Service."

Shown with optional extending stock

Conceptualization

The SX-8 was designed as a privateer security and bodyguard firearm. Small, accurate, reliable, and powerful, the SX-8 has served in PMCs, embassy staffs, military police, and many other ranks since its introduction in 1994.

Design

The SX-8 uses 5.7x28mm ammunition, used as an effective penetrative round for close-quarters combat, a priority for many security forces. Being able to shoot attackers through a wall can be very important to a private security service or embassy official. The SX-9 can be easily concealed in a suit or a desk drawer, and is largely impervious to dust, sand, water, and moss.

Purchase details

The SX-8 is not covered under PL. 65-04 as it is not sold to Arkinesian troops. Although it is marketed in Arkinesia, no Arkinesian military officials have contracts to purchase the SX-8. As such, this weapon may be purchased freely by anyone with the money to do so.

Pricing

The SX-8 sells for NS$1800 each. As it is a specialized weapon, it costs more money to procure than other standard weapons. The production rights are available at a reduced cost of just NS$9,000,000 to offset this. The SX-8's licensed versions, however, may not be sold under any circumstances without written permission from Pennington Defense Consortium, Incorporated of Arkinesia.

F-6 Lynx

Postby Arkinesia » Mon Jun 20, 2011 1:17 am

Image
"You Get More Than What You Pay For."

Conceptualization

In 1959, the federal government issued a contract for a light fighter with incredible amounts of speed. At the time PDC was already license-producing the F-5 Freedom Fighter. Seeing an opportunity to test the J79 engine some more, Garrett Patterson jumped on the F-5 and came up with the F-6 Lynx, a jet that was little more than the F-5 with a J79 powerplant shoehorned into it. Nevertheless, the design won the hearts of the federal government, and it was adopted in 1960.

Design

The F-6 is designed to be light, fast, and deadly. Capable of carrying an immense range of weapons, the F-6 has also been modernized with radar and is even capable of making use of laser guidance facilities. The F-6 has been found to be nearly irreplaceable by the Arkinesian military, and still serves in a minor role with the Confederate National Air Guard. The J79 engine, large number of hardpoints, and light weight make it a formidable ground attack or point defense fighter.

The Lynx is not presently sold with equipped radar, like its F-5 predecessor. This decision was made to cut down on weight and price, though there are many radar types that the Lynx is capable of housing. The F-6, as a consequence, is most compatible with infrared-guided missiles.

If a purchasing nation has trained its pilots on T-38 or F-5 aircraft in the past, there is little to worry about. The F-5's control surfaces are kept for the F-6 model, making transition into the new fighter much less difficult. The primary goals of the F-6 are to have a cheap, simple to use, and incredibly fast aircraft, and these goals are handily achieved.

Purchase details

The Lynx is still considered obsolete technology by many figureheads in Parliament, largely replaced by the F-16G and F/A-18, a later development. As such it is considered legal for sale to Security Grade 3 nations, as well as the domestic production rights. The planes may be sold through other outlets without specified consent from PDCI.

F-14E Strike Tomcat

Postby Arkinesia » Mon Jun 20, 2011 2:39 pm

Image
"A Truly Navalized Air Superiority Fighter For The 21st Century."
Shown in testing/prototype colors

Conceptualization

In 1994, the Arkinesian Federal Navy Air Force needed an improved ASF version of its F-14 Tomcat. The AFNAF commissioned the designers of their Tomcat, Pennington Defense Solutions, to design and test a new prototype based on the F-14, F-15, and YF-22 series. The result was the F-14E Strike Tomcat, which entered service in 1999.

Design

The Strikecat maintained much of the external construction of its parent aircraft, however, the interior is almost unrecognizable. AN/APG-82 radar is used, a highly modern radar system capable of jamming enemy systems while maintaining the integrity of friendly radar systems. APG-82 radar also has an impressive range and can track a greater number of targets than the F-14's standard issue radar. The F-14E also brought thrust vectoring engines to the already impressive F-14 airframe.

Purchase details

The F-14E is cleared for all nations. Production rights may be acquired by Security Grade 1 nations only, and the product may not be resold through other outlets.

F-16G Cobra

Postby Arkinesia » Mon Jun 20, 2011 2:55 pm

Image
"The Export Multirole For The 21st Century."

Conceptualization

When Sarilian approached the Confederate States about purchasing F-16E/F models from Arkinesia, Pennington Defense were called upon to deliver a new, export-friendly model with greater operational expandability, rather than the smaller F-16E/F. Sarilian needed planes with greater range and more hardpoints due to the larger forces they were more likely to encounter in the field. The result was the F-16G, nicknamed "Cobra" due to the cranked arrow resembling the hood of a cobra.

Design

It was obvious to the designers that the only larger general change to the F-16's existent design would need to be in the wings and aftward fuselage. One designer, however, proposed a more unusual concept. An unusual-looking plane with only a fleeting resemblance to the F-16 was his result. In an effort to create a plane more in line with existing F-16 models, the cranked arrow delta resulted, leading to the unusual wing shape of the F-16G. The F-16H is a -16G with a second seat for training purposes. As it turned out, however, the cranked arrow provided a boon to the aircraft's ability to convert thrust to speed. In testing in early 1994, the design broke Mach 1 at 98% throttle, shocking the pilot and the ground crew. It was later discovered the airframe was more than capable of supercruise.

Purchase details

Parliament has expressed concerns about how well this plane can perform and as such has ruled that the aircraft may be sold to Security Grade 3 nations, but only Security Grade 1 nations may purchase production rights to this aircraft.

Specifications and pricing

    General characteristics

  • Crew: One (-16G) or Two (-16H)
  • Length: 54 ft 2 in (16.51 m)
  • Wingspan: 32 ft 6 in (9.90 m)
  • Height: 17 ft 7 in (5.36 m)
  • Wing area: 646 ft² (60.0 m²)
  • Empty weight: 22,000 lb (9,980 kg)
  • Loaded weight: 48,000 lb (21,800 kg)
  • Max takeoff weight: 48,000 lb (21,800 kg)
  • Powerplant: 1 × Tri-Star Propulsion T5-T-4S (equivalent to General Electric F110-GE-100) turbofan
  • Dry thrust: 17,100 lbf (76.3 kN)
  • Thrust with afterburner: 28,900 lbf (125 kN)

  • Rate of climb: 62,000 ft/min (320 m/s)

    Other
  • Hardpoints: 17 external
As stated previously, any nation may purchase the F-16G or F-16H. The F-16G may be purchased for NS$23 million. The F-16H may be purchased for NS$26 million. The production rights to the G/H series may be purchased for NS$285,000,000,000 (Two Hundred and Eighty-Five Billion Standard Dollars). Although this aircraft is highly combat capable, it does not have much in terms of superior technology.

F-15I Strike Eagle II

Postby Arkinesia » Mon Jun 20, 2011 3:34 pm

Image
"The Strike Fighter For The Insane Pilot."
Amerikian test aircraft shown

Conceptualization

In 1986, Pennington Defense Corporation was commissioned to develop new technology pursuant to the ASFP involving thrust vectoring and canards, to determine whether or not these items should be considered requirements for the ASFP winner. To do so, Pennington repossessed two aging F-15 airframes and refurbished them for the purpose of testing new technology. One airframe, designated F-15 STOL, was the early prototype which tested canards and 2-dimensional (vertical and velocity) thrust vectoring. The second airframe, designated F-15 STOL II, was the final prototype which used canards and 3-dimension (vertical, velocity, and horizontal) thrust vectoring.

Design

Early design concepts were said to be unusual looking and seemed anachronistic.

Image
A mock-up of F-15 STOL I

These engines were only capable of velocity and pitch control. However, as the workings of the two-dimensional thrust vectoring were explored, designers on the F-15 STOL project began the process of determining how to expand the ability of the thrust vectoring to make it three-dimensional, connected to the rudder pedals. At the conclusion of the program in 1987, three-dimensional thrust vectoring had a foundation and an airframe, but was ultimately determined to have little practical purpose.

Pennington continued experimenting with the three-dimensional airframe, designated F-15 STOL II. In 1997, the Future Strike Fighter Program was announced. The F-15I ultimately won this competition, with its sharp maneuvering, high speed, and similarity to the F-15E, which was already in service. The -15I began replacing the -15E in 2002.

Purchase details

Although this is a powerful battlefield weapon, Parliament has seen fit to permit Security Grade 3 nations to use this fighter aircraft, and Security Grade 2 nations may purchase production rights.

B-7 Bomber

Postby Arkinesia » Mon Jun 20, 2011 5:25 pm

Image
"Black Operations Bombing For The Future."
Shown in 56th TBS "Snowflake" colors

Conceptualization

In 1998, with the cessation of service of the F-117, Arkinesia began seeking out an effective black operations strike aircraft similar to the F-22, but with greater carrying capacity. Pennington Defense was the only company to submit a design, originally designated B-222. After trials were completed and the aircraft deemed fit for service, it was designated B-7.

Design

The B-7 is in essence to the F-22 what the F-16G was to the F-16E/F. It is a modified aircraft with the express purpose of greater numbers of weapons bays and a wider wing surface area. The B-7 is optimized for the role of a bomber capable of self-defense, however; the B-7 is capable of carrying two AIM-120s on sorties with other bombs and AGMs.

Purchase details

This aircraft is an advanced strike bomber and is permitted to be sold to Security Grade 2 nations. Production rights may be acquired by SG1 nations as well.

Specifications and pricing
    General Characteristics

  • Crew: 1 (pilot) or 2 (pilot, co-pilot)
  • Max takeoff weight: 120,000 lb (54,431 kg)

    Performance

  • Maximum speed: Mach 1.92
  • Range: 2,071 mi; 3,334 km (1,800 nmi) (combat radius)
  • G limits: 6 g

    Armament

B-70 Bomber

Postby Arkinesia » Mon Jun 20, 2011 6:16 pm

Image
"I See You, But You Can't See Me."

Conceptualization

Designed in the late 1950s to counteract a surge in high-altitude interceptors. Through the 1960s, as ICBMs became more prevalent, many in Parliament and the Defense Ministry argued that the B-70 had become irrelevant and obsolete. The B-70, however, remained in service until 1988 with the Arkinesian Federal Air Force, being replaced by the B-58 Hustler and B-52 Stratofortress.

Design

The B-70 was designed to operate at Mach 3 while maintaining altitudes in excess of 40,000 feet. The B-70 more commonly operated at altitudes of around 50,000 feet while in Arkinesian service, and regularly exceeded Mach 2.5 on sorties. The B-70 provides nations with a long reach and the power to exercise that reach.

Image
Other design details

The folding wingtips enable the B-70 to fly at higher speeds than conventional wing designs. Like the later Concorde airliner, the variable-position canopy assists in airflow, allowing the Valkyrie's pilots to squeeze even more speed out of an already fast jet. The six engines, producing 119,400 pound-feet of thrust at its maximum cruising thrust, add fuel to the fires.

Purchase details

The Valkyrie's battlefield capabilities do not override the reality that it is no longer in service. As such, Parliament has permitted the Valkyrie to be sold to all nations, production rights included.

Postby Arkinesia » Mon Jun 20, 2011 6:58 pm

Image
"The Future Of Airlifting."
C-02 Pelican shown in background.

Conceptualization

The Arkinesian Army came to Pennington Defense with a need for a small, light transport that could access short runways (<1km) and still carry large amounts of materiel. The original result was the XC-01, which further developed into the C-02 Pelican. The Pelican has served valiantly in Arkinesian service in multiple conflicts with few mechanical issues.

Design

The C-02 is night vision capable, making it possible to fly the plane in nighttime conditions. It is capable of longer trips due to in-flight refueling capabilities, and can carry 84,000 pounds of materiel from place to place, making it an able transport aircraft.

Purchase details

The C-02 has been cleared for purchase by Security Grade 3 nations on all counts, including DPR.

Specifications and pricing

    General characteristics

  • Crew: 3
  • Capacity: Length 16 m x Width 4 m x Height 4 m

Protectorate of New Minneapolis
New Minneapolis Air Force

To: Pennington Defense Consortium
Re: Fighter Purchase

Greetings,
My name is Brigadier William Ferris. I am the Commanding Officer of the New Minneapolis Air Force. As for my relatively low rank, we barely have an air force to speak of. I am in the process of rapidly expanding that air force. However, I have to put it together on a shoe string budget. This is what brings me to you. I am rather impressed by the F-6. I saw both your F-6 and latest F-16 models in action at an air show last year and was very impressed by their performance. Both that and the F-6's price make it well suited to our needs. I am therefor placing an order for 25 of your F-6s. This will effectively double the number of combat aircraft we currently have.

I may be getting the funding for the purchase of numerous different aircraft for evaluation. Should this come to pass, you may see me here purchasing one or two of your F-16Gs. Should the F-6 fighters perform as expected my government may authorize me to purchase additional F-6s. Numbers 50 and 100 were thrown around. I am not holding my breath on either of these prospects, they are politician after all.

With Highest Regards,

Brigadier William Ferris
New Minneapolis Air Force

((OOC: These are nicely done. I was working on a variant of the F-5 and F-16 that almost match the models you created. Looks like you beat me to the market with them. ))
