Australian-Football-Weltmeisterschaft
Australian Football World Championship

The Lontorikanische Sportbund invites the Australian football associations of the world to participate in what it assumes to be the sport’s first world championship.

Entry rules
Each association may enter one team in the tournament, which may either be a club team or similar entity, or a representative team composed of players from the association’s several clubs. Participating associations are expected to submit their club name (unless sending a representative team), their coach’s name, a roster of no more than thirty-six players, and uniforms colours (image not required, but I may create them if requested). Each association is asked (though not required) to provide a team of officials; these teams will be assigned to matches by the organizers.

Format
The first phase of the competition will, in principle, consist of a double round-robin of all participating teams, with each team playing each opponent at home and away. (Alternative formats will be considered if more than eight teams enter.) Teams will receive four match points for each win and two for each draw. In the event that two teams finish with the same number of match points, the tie will be broken by scoring percentage (points scored divided by points conceded, like goal average in other sports). In the unlikely event that teams are still tied, the next tie-breaker will be points scored; if a tie still remains, these tie-breakers will be repeated considering only matches between the tied teams; if teams absolutely cannot be separated, lots will be drawn.

The championship will be decided by a play-off involving all participating teams (again, to be reconsidered if more than eight teams enter). The format of the play-off will depend upon the number of teams, but will assign home advantage to higher-seeded teams, and will allow some high-seeded teams to advance regardless of whether they win the opening match. In the event of a draw, two five-minute periods of extra time will be played to determine a winner; if the teams are still level after extra time, two further periods will be played. The Meisterschaftsfinale (Grand Final) will be the only match of the tournament held at a neutral site. Tristiano Droga Arena, located on the top floor of the Olympic Tower in Aeropag, Paripana (below the better-known Olympic Tower Stadium), will host the match, as it is the highest-capacity stadium in Paripana which can be economically reconfigured for Australian football. If the Meisterschaftsfinale is drawn, it will be replayed the following week; extra time will be played if the replay is also drawn.

Scorinator
This competition is part of the Festivalo de Tutmondaj Futbaloj (Festival of Worldwide Footballs), and as such will be scorinated using the beta version of Footba11er. Since Footba11er does not natively support extra time (except of the golden goal/sudden death variety), a modified formula will be used in the event that extra time is needed.

Entries (6)
  1. Lontorika
  2. The Babbage Islands
  3. North Chicanan
  4. Wollongo Wallabies (Sorthern Northland)
  5. Bazalonia
  6. Nitrome Island

Association full name: der Lontorikanische Sportbund (LSB)
Association short name: Lontorika
Team: Representative team, composed of players from the Lontorikanische Football-Liga (LFL)
Flag: yellow, charged with the LSB logo (image of flag)
Three-letter abbreviation: LTK

Lontorika is a geographic and cultural region of the Paripanan archipelago. The LSB is not the only (or even the primary) sporting body in the region; Capitalizt SLANI, Jasĭyun, and other members of the Paripana Sporting Council also operate there. Nonetheless, as Australian football (known as Lontorikan football locally) is chiefly practiced in Lontorika, the LSB organizes the most prestigious local competitions in that sport. There are no political leaders in Paripana, but Paripana is generally treated by external observers as equivalent to a nation, and Lontorika can be thought of as a subdivision of that nation.

Home stadium: Melbin Oval, Melbin (capacity 12 840; field dimensions 160 m × 133 m)
The Melbin Oval is the oldest and largest purpose-built Australian football stadium in Lontorika (and in Paripana, since there are none outside Lontorika), initially constructed nearly two hundred years ago and renovated several times since. It is home to the Melbin-based teams of the LFL, and hosts the LFL-Meisterschaftsfinale each season.

Alternative home stadium: Tristiano Droga Arena, Aeropag (capacity 32 830; field dimensions 150 m × 120 m)
Tristiano Droga Arena is an enclosed venue used primarily for athletics, and is located on the top floor of the Olympic Tower. It was built as a highly-adaptable multi-purpose venue for the Games of the IV Olympiad, then known simply as “Arena 1”; a large, well-trained crew can reconfigure the stands and field for a different sport in just a few hours (the same could once be said of its vertical neighbour Olympic Tower Stadium, which had additional seats installed after the Games in order to make it more suitable for association football and less for anything else). Tristiano Droga Arena will host the tournament’s championship match, and may also host some Lontorika home games if the LSB feels that the potential for increased ticket sales would outweigh the risk of moving a match to a city with no significant interest in the sport.

Coach: Cyril Cordova

Association Name: Bazalonian Football League (BFL)
Team: Representative team from the BFL sides. Bazalonian Raiders
Flag: The Bazalonian national flag with the Bazalope replaced with a red australian rules ball. It is joked by other states that the BFL flag should becomet the state's flag.

Bazalonian Rules Football is practically identical in rules to Australian Rules Football and as a football code it's 'home' base is in South Bazalonia with most of the teams originating from that state. However all the other states also have atleast one team in the 16 team league.

Home Stadium: SeaBazalope Arena, Cantinopple with a capacity of 83,540

Image

It is the spiritual home of Bazalonia/Australian Rules Footballin Bazalonia and to think of the BFL final anywhere else would amount to sacrilege. However the BFL has appointed a backup stadium in Queat.

Alternate Stadium:

Queat Football Stadium, Queat. A purpose built stadium for the Queat side in the BFL. It can seat a more modest 57,300 and 180m by 130m making it a far longer and narrower field than SeaBazalope Arena.

Starters:

Tyler Richards
Richard Harris
Cody Evans
Cole MacDonald
Robert Russell
Chase Wright
Benjamin Ward
Isaiah Thomas
Adam Bennett
Xavier Powell
Alexander Cook
Justin Murphy
Adam Hill
Bryan Wilson
Sean Mitchell
Evan Gray
Nathan Clark
Trevor Taylor

Interchange Bench:

Aidan Carter
Cole Patel
Eric Kelly
Sebastian Graham

Another 10 players are in the squad but are likely to not see field time due to BFL's preference to keeping a single unified team throughout the competition.

Nominated Officials:

Hunter Kelly - Match Umpire
Robert James - Boundry Official
Tyler Young - Boundry Official
Blake Robinson - Goal Umpire
Julian Watson- Boundry Official
Evan Clarke - Match Umpire
Angel Wright - Goal Umpire

Nitrome Island began their Aussie rules Weltmeisterschaft with an almost solid performance against Lontorkia. The boys lost 50-56. David kill kicked 3 early goals to put Nitrome 21-9 Ahead at the end of the first quater. The second quater was much slower for Nitrome and Lontorkia. Lontorkia scored the only goal of the quater after Ieroklis Papaloukas kicked a 50 yard whopper that was caught by İris Akdoğan 32 yard from goal. From the mark Akdoğan had no trouble bringing Lontorkia back into the match with his second goal of the match. The score at half way was nitrome Island 23, Lontorkia 18. For the third quater Lontorkia went crazy. Herz and Cherry Kicked 20 point between themselves (1.2 Cherry, 2.0 Herz) and Möller kicked his only score of the match to make Lontorkias quater total 26. Nitrome Island had an active quater too. Kill gave the boys 3 behinds to keep their spirits up and, to the excitement of the nitrome spectators, Geoge Lammington Kicked 2 goals in 30 seconds to send the sides into the last quater at nitrome 38, Lontorkia 44. Nitrome Island needed to put points up on the board if they were going to beat Lontorkia and thats just what they did. David Kill and Myles Long Kicked a goal each to to 6 Lontorkia behinds. Time was running out for either side to score a winning score. With 13 seconds to go Jerry Tom tackled Saltanovič round the neck and recieved a straight red card. Téllez steped up to the ball and prepared for the kick. From 70 yards out he kicked the winning goal to make Lontorkia 56, Nitrome Island 50.

Aussieball Side Goes Up 2-0 In Weltmeisterschaft

Verity Smith-Jones, St. John's

The Red-Green Cricket Grounds saw a second day of amazing Aussieball play from their home boys, but with a more stressful result. However, the National Australian Football Team saw a 119-109 victory over Lontorika to lead the standings in the first Weltmeisterschaft.

After their impressive fifty point victory over Bazalonia thanks to the feet of Paris Smith of the local Reds club, the team rode the back of Dennis Blackfriar to break open a tied match in the final quarter. The Coast District star, playing in his hometown for the first time since the Battery defeated Far West in a massive Championship match that had major rioting on the Western Isle (why yes, North Chicanan is now spread over three islands and Coast District stayed with their French brethren, making a nice English-French rivalry exist on the second isle of the state) last season, taking 2.2 for the final period. He was joined by the always productive Samuel Witten with a 1.0 and Llyn Dewitt with a 1.2 to split a 13.13 link-up between the Boxers and our friends in Lontorika.

Coach Ardic Flannigan had nothing but support for the Commerce Heights-based side after the match, praising their determination to keep the game grounded but thrilled with the play of the Boxers to break the match open and score the four points for the win. The coach, using the National Team in hopes of scoring a major coaching job up from his normal role as coach at Livingston University (Home of the Pride), said he looked forward to the return match, which would see North Chicanan in the Commerce Heights Region for the first time in the nation's combined history with Chicanada.

Up next in the Weltmeisterschaft is a trip to The Babbage Islands in what should be a fun series for the Boxers at their Cardiff Cricket Grounds.

*ooc: I hate to ask Commerce Heights, but if you have a chance could you make a mockup of my team kits? I've had no time to do so and I'd love to have a set for my own records if possible*

Bryn: This is Bryndis Óskarsdóttir,
Scott: And this is Scott Clinton.
Bryn: We're upside down, or Down Under . . .
Scott: Actually, I think we were in Lontorika. Then we were in Cardiff, then Nitrome, now back to Cardiff tonight . . .
Bryn: Close enough! Anyway, we're covering the World Championship of Australian rules football.
Scott: I like the sound of Weltmesiterschaft myself.

Bryn: So far, the most impressive sight from the Babbage eighteen are the snazzy new uniforms.
Scott: It certainly wasn't their performance against Nitrome Island!
Bryn: True. The Bumblebees lost by 93. Ninety-three!
Scott: Aussie rules is a high-scoring game. Six-point goals come much more easily than sixes in international rules that we usually see.
Bryn: We weren't defending the mark very well. It's a part of inter rules, too, so I'm not quite sure why.
Scott: Chalk it up to merging players from six squads and changing the rules they're accustomed to, both at once.
Bryn: Maybe. I looked at the media information guide, and it's not clear what positions our folks are playing.
Scott: You won't get better information by watching them play, let me tell you.
Bryn: Nitrome lost their first match to the hosts by six, and we won ours by 24. Who knew that this spanking was coming?

Scott: So we're at 1-1, in a tie for second, but we have the lowest percentage in the field and our next match is against the first-place side.
Bryn: It's a ten match stage, so let's not get too out of sorts.
Scott: We will play the leaders in Cardiff this leg. Cardiff Cricket Club has sold out the ground for the match.
Bryn: Watch for Paris Smith and Dennis Blackfriar on the North Chicanan side of the ball. They were instrumental in their first two wins.
Scott: I'm expecting coach Kevin Flanagan to change up at fullback, and maybe one or both pockets. Local girl Sheila Thomas may get the chance to shine for her Cardiff fans.
Bryn: And Hunter Collins at centre half-forward has arguably been our best player so far. He's another Cardiff player with some hometown backers.
Scott: I'd agree with you about Hunter, or maybe ruckman Zachary Evans out of Libereco.
Bryn: So we'll be looking to get the red out of our faces and move back up in the table.

Scott: And thanks for staying with us here at B.S. all the time!

2nd win-1st place

Postby Nitrome Island » Mon Jun 20, 2011 1:43 am

Nitrome Island stuck another win under their belts with a another huge win against the Wollongo Wallabies. With the team fired up frome the last match morale was high and the mood could not have been better.

The 1st quarter was the bes 1st quarter the team had in all 3 games. George Lammington was making the play and set up 3 goals for David Kill and 3 for Greg Smith. He scored a goal and 3 behinds for himself. Wollongo scored 3 goals and 2 behinds. The score after the quarter was Wollongo Wallabies 20, Nitrome Island 39.

Nitrome Island kept up the good attacking play and boosted the defence effort aswell limiting Wollongo and Mitchell Cuthbertson to only 1 goal. There could have been more goals for Wollongo but Liam Nolan made several good marks, tackles and a few blocks to keep Wollongos score to a minimum. Nitrome pushed there advantage further. Geoge Lammington won all the ball in the center of the park and did not make a mistake in anything he did with it. Edim Zayed was twice spotted unmarked by him and he got goals from both chances. Kill was able to beat his marker or steal the ball and scored 2 goals and 4 behinds. But once again the star was Greg Smith who scored 6 goals and 2 behinds from Lammingtons passing. Lammington grabbed himself 2 goals and 3 behind of his own to send the teams in at the break with a scoreline of Nitrome Island 120, Wollongo 26.

Wollongo came out to show they were not beaten yet and out scored Nitrome in the 3rd quarter. Mitchell Cuthbertson spearheaded the attack with 4 wonderful goals and 3 behinds. Sechnall Mac Giolla Mhaoil scored 2 goals forhimself and 1 behind. Adam Kibble scored 1 to add to his 2 first qaurter goals.
Nitrome Island replied with 5 goals. 3 form Smith, 1 from Zayed and 1 from Lammington. The score was little better for Wollongo by the nd of the quarter. Nitrome Island 150, Wollongo Wallabies 72.

The final quarter was full of behinds for Nitrome Island. They scored 16 behinds in all and David Kill scored 2 goals to wrap up the game. In reply Adam Kibble scored a last second consilation goal. In the end the final margin was 100 points as Nitrome Island ran out 178-78 winners.

Margaret has one wicked sense of humor, I didn't think it was possible to get only 11 points.

Northerners drop to Nitrome Island, still look decent for advancing

Staff Report
Even a 108-95 defeat to leaders Nitrome Island could not dimish the hopes of the Noth Chicanan Aussie side, as the team remains in 3rd place going into the back half of group play - a position that coach Ardic Flannigan was mostly pleased with.

The team had struggled against the group leaders for much of the match, until an explosive fourth quarter save the team gain 5.1 to close the gap on Nitrome Island, which only captured 1.2, enough to maintain a final 13 point lead but enough to frustrate the opponents into opening new scoring chances for the Boxers.

The team will stay on the road, heading to Bazalonia for matchday 6 action. The Boxers won the opening match so the side will be hoping to score the double and stay in the top four in the standings.

5 in a row

Postby Nitrome Island » Thu Jun 23, 2011 10:29 am

Nitrome Island got revenge on Lontorika for the opening day loss yesterday on a scoreline of 26.19.175 to 4.2.26.

The opening quarter could not have been worse for the visitors as Lang kicked their only score, a behind, of the quarter. Meanwhile Nitrome Island went insane. Greg Smith and debutant Joachim Stelmach were an ideal partnership up front scoring 5.5 between them. George Lammington showed he had his kicking boots on after scoring 2 goals, both from over 75 yards out. This left the score at the end of the quarter Nitrome Island 47, Lontorika 1.

Lontorika decided to show themselves in the 2nd quarter and scored 3.1, all from Akdoğan. In reply Stelmach scored 2 goals, David Kill 1.3, Greg Smith 2.1 and Lammington 1.1 leaving the gap at halfway at 68 points (N.I 88, LON 20).

Nitorme Island let all hell break loose in the 3rd quarter, for the first 10 minutes. They looked like they would score 10 goals in the quarter but ran out of steam after 10 minutes scoring 5.6. Lontroika managed a goal in the last minute through Cherry. The end of the quarter

Nitrome Islands defence steped up and was unbeaten for the 4th quarter. The attack also did well. Kill picked up 2 goals, as did Stelmach and Smith, and Lammington Scored 1.3. I the dying seconds defender Colm Goode kicked his 1st ever goal for the side to finish the match. Final score, Nitrome Island 175, Lontorika 26.
