Dangerous Species Index[FT](Application) CLOSED WIP

Postby Heliocalypse » Tue May 10, 2011 5:16 am

This is the application thread for your dangerous species, feel free to post an entry. Try to keep OOC post at minimum in this thread. This thread serve as application thread for the index, post your entries here. Click here to visit Index.

Make sure to make your entry as clean and organized as possible, like the example at least. If not, it will get reported for deletion by moderator. This to ensure that your entry is easy to read and be listed in the Index.

Limitations

Before you post your entry or proceed to actually composing your entry, do make notice of the below limitations set for your entry as said in the following post,

Heliocalypse wrote:1) The Species slotted for Index entry may not posses highly evolved form of travel, such as any intial form of FTL by their own
2) The Species slotted for Index entry may not posses initial highly advanced intelligence such as piloting ships or any mode of transport or vehicles by their own.
3) The Species slotted for Index entry may not posses any initial potential to develop any form of FTL travel by their own.

And such, "Parasitic Species" that infect other sentient beings and consequently uses the infected body to drive a spaceship for example, is exempted from these limitations, since the species do not pilot the ship by its own but instead with an aide of another being as long the infected being do have the knowledge of piloting such spaceship before getting infected. This is perfectly acceptable. Thank you for reading this short message.

New ruling as per 21/11/2011,

Heliocalypse wrote:4) The Species slotted for Index entry may not have a potential to form a civilization.

A civilization can be defined as a state where a Species may achieve considerable amount of progress in terms of intellectual, cultural and material development, showing a highly visible form of organized hierarchy and society while adept of using whatever suitable for owns advancement, intelligently. Note that this definition may change without warning.

Application Format & Related Matters

Species entry must contain most of the below listed elements. The more elements your entry it includes, the more better defined your entry is, so try to include as much as listed elements below while also remain reasonable at least. It also ease on assigning Threat Level on your entry since it's more defined. Remember, one entry of one unique species amounts to one post only and accepted entry will get directly linked to the Index thread. So, to post more than one species, post them separately, thank you.

Threat Level Definition

Threat Level is a generalized rule on determining the dangerous level of the said species. For example, for a species that have Threat Level 1, it will take approximately 10 professional hunters at maximum to kill or capture one entity from the said species.Threat Level of species will be assigned accordingly after your entry is accepted. It's formulated from the dangerous features the species might have, like Speed, Size, Lethality, and Behavior.

Lethality Definition

Lethality is the general classification of how lethal the species is. Below shows the generalized list of the element. Basis of the list is how much a full grown healthy man with medium build the single entity of the species able to kill.

A: Relatively harmless but dangerous in large quantities.
B: Can paralyze or hinder young child of human from functioning properly. Short term effects on adult man.
C: Can kill young child of man and severely stop adult man from properly functioning.
D: Can kill healthy adult human.
E: Can kill ten healthy adult human.
F: Can kill one hundred healthy adult human.
G: Can kill approximately one thousand healthy adult human.

Hazard Type Definition

Hazard Type is designated to define the hazard of the said species, like Carcinogenic or Mutagenic or something similar if any. Below list briefly of the available Hazard Type classification and their respective definition. Hazard Type can affect Lethality classification as well.

Carcinogenic : Species can cause cancer on touch of the species or via its body fluid, almost imminent death if not treated quickly
Mutagenic : Species can cause horrendous mutation of anything that come contact of it or any emissions of the said species.
Neurotoxic : Species is able to cause neural damage, causing asphyxiation or paralysis. Fast acting.
Corrosive : Species able to cause any contact material to dissolve due to interaction with emissions emitted by species.
Explosive : Species can detonate dangerously if touched or its bodily fluid can explode on contact.
Flammable : Species have tendency to burn or emit emissions that can cause hard to extinguish fires or can burn almost anything that happen to interact with it.

Sentient Classification

This is just a short classification of the said species. Sentient species is capable of thought and voluntary movement while vulnerable to psionics. Only non-sentient species is not vulnerable by psionics like induced mind hallucination or mind control. This element can affect the overall rating of the species.

A strong reminder, the entries listed in this thread and the main index merely serve as an OOC reference. If you as the reader happen to use the accepted entry/entries in terms of IC, you need to have an IC interaction with the said entry to know the full detail of such entry, ICly. And such, my advice is please discuss with the owner of the entry if you want to use his/her entry detail(s) in any of your planned RP(s), feel free to heed my advice or neglect it. This application and the Index thread is of no standing to be sourced as the cause of a RPer to know the entry beforehand ICly without any form of IC interaction. Note that entry approval and such cannot be disputed, by listing an entry to this thread, you automatically agree to the terms listed on this thread and of my jurisdiction, if you happen to feel that the terms listed and i'm being unfair, the door is always open for you to leave, you are of no obligation whatsoever to post in this application thread. As usual, this also may change without warning, nota bene.

Process time may vary. Thank you for reading this thread!

Name: Greaterdactyl
Local Name: Greaterdactyl
Scientific Name: Ultrai-dactyl
Desired Name to be put in Index: Greaterdactyl
Sentient? (Y/N): No
Class: Reptilia
Appearance: Vary in color from White to Black, The deeper the color smaller it will be when fully grown, this also means that deeper the color stronger the poison in it's wingtips. They look like large Pterosaurs, but have a large Hook shaped Crest and a Large fin on it's underside for stability. They lack legs and instead have fins as a baby in order to swim in the ocean it is born in until it is big enough to take to the skies. Once at a certain age, the fins will become another pair of wings that enable for better flight. The whitest Greaterdactyls range from 100-200 feet long when fully grown and the blackest Greaterdactyls range from 900-1000 feet long when fully grown. Their wingspan is about a 4:1 ratio comparable to their body length. They have large horn like structures covered in spikes on the tips of their wings that, on contact, inject the object with poison (strength of poison depends on color ans size). This creature also has a very sharp Horn and teeth for eating almost anything.
Picture(if any): N/A
Special Features: Injects poison on contact with wingtip, are very large, grow up in the ocean and take to the skies when adults, can eat almost anything(including airplanes, trains, and other vehicles)
Behavior(Hostile? Defensive? Timid?): Hostile
Origin: Artificial Mutation of a Deaterodactyl.
Habitat: Oceans and Skies of planet it lives on.
Species distribution: All planets with an Ocean and Atmosphere in the Tiz-Star System.
Brief Description: This speices was a product of a Mad Tipidemican scientist who lived on the Planet Gallkio in the Tiz-System. The creature escaped and asexually reproduced and started the speices. The creature was a mutated form of a Deaterodactyl, which was brought to Tipidemica by an Exotic Animal Trading accident when a ship carrying the embryos of this animal crashed in a Gallkioian Ocean and they somehow survived and started populating Gallkio. These creature have been known to eat anything in it's territory no matter how much actual nutrition it carries; and it eats objects outside of it territory to ensure it's living.
Maximum Speed(if any): 400-500 miles per hour
Size(if any): The whitest Greaterdactyls range from 100-200 feet long when fully grown and the blackest Greaterdactyls range from 900-1000 feet long when fully grown. Their wingspan is about a 4:1 ratio comparable to their body length.
Hazard Type(If any): Neurotoxic
Lethality(if any): G
Biological Info(like reproduction etc): Lays it's eggs in mid air over a vast body of water, these eggs sink to the bottom of the ocean and hatch; once hatch, they will eat anything they can until they are strong enough to take to the skies. Once they take to the skies they are considered adults. Both Asexual Reproduction and Sexual Reproduction.
Uses: Almost none, almost all meat obtained by this animal is poisonous to humans; maybe it could be used for defense if you can train it.
How to kill it: Most Effective, somehow break it's spinal cord and it will drop from the sky and most likely die on impact. If you can't, shoot all of it's 5 hearts.

It would be a good fight, I would watch. Probably place some money on the Greaterdactyl though, considering the weakest of the poisons in this species can kill an Elephant within a few seconds; don't image what the strongest poisons could do.

Name: Sulphur Slime Mold

Local Name: Ignis Strands

Scientific Name: Igneaous Salpharate

Desired Name to be put in Index: Ignis Strands

Sentient? (Y/N): No

Class: Parasitic Fungus

Appearance: Sulphur coloured slime strands

Picture(if any): Image

Special Features: A sticky mass of slime mold that can rapidly decompose most organic material it comes in contact with. When ignited, it will burn voraciously and corrode most metals since it's being caustic at the same time. Concentrated Ignis Strands that are ignited will explode.

Behaviour(Hostile? Defensive? Timid?): Destructive if left unchecked.

Origin: Cail, Voil System, Heliocalypse

Habitat: Soils that is rich in organic mass, usually found near volcanoes

Species distribution: 20% on most volcano areas

Brief Description: Ignis Strands is a special type of slime mold that mainly decompose dead organic matter originally. The mold concentrates mainly sulphur, potassium and phosphorus in complex organic molecule arrangements in their frames, as defense against would be predators. The compounds further help the mold to survive since it have an unpleasant odor and taste to most would be predators. The same compounds also makes the mold, inherently dangerous when ignited. Taking this as an advantage, the mold now bravely grow rapidly on living organic mass when given chance, making it a very dangerous mold to get rid of. Ignis Strands can be ignited by a simple spark or by a compressive force.

Maximum Speed(if any): 1.5671 cm/s (growth rate on rich organic matter)

Size(if any): Variable

Hazard Type(If any): Pyrocaustic (flammable and caustic when ignited), Explosive(when concentrated enough)

Lethality(if any): B but not treated will be D. Ignited Ignis Strands can carry rating of E.

Biological Info(like reproduction etc): Reproduces mainly by runners and occasionally spores, asexually.

Uses: Pyrochemical weapons. To use Ignis Strands for general heating is extremely lethal due to possible noxious fumes that will get generated.

How to kill it: Pouring pure liquid nitrogen on the mold is the only effective way to kill the mold for now.

Local Name: Tiger Leech.

Scientific Name: Haderonae Lacrhiune.

Desired Name to be put in Index: Tiger Leech.

Sentient? (Y/N): Yes.

Class: Parasitic Leech.

Appearance: Large tubular like body, usually brown in colour with crown-like mouth. The grappling hooks in pinkish colour lines its mouth.

Picture(if any): None

Special Features: Several sets of organic hooks that can be launched to latch on potential victim. Able to spurt out corrosive acid up to 2 meters.

Behaviour(Hostile? Defensive? Timid?): Usually timid but will turn violent when a potential victim appears.

Origin: Haderon, Trill System, Confederacy of Arch Planets.

Habitat: Muddy swamps.

Species distribution: 23.11% of total muddy swamps in Haderon.

Brief Description: Blood Leech or known as Tiger Leech to the locals is a very dangerous leech. The leech can easily grow bigger than an adult man. It's called as Tiger Leech since the locals saw the leech dragging a tiger into the swamp, sucking the tiger dry and killing the tiger. Tiger Leech love damp places and it will never leave muddy swamps, its natural habitat. New reinforced body with thick chitin structures enables the leech to grow to phenomenal sizes and able to resist the normal acidity or whatever in the water of the swamp posses. This makes them incredibly tough to kill, due to their reinforced structure. Trying to eat the leech is also fatal due to complex acids their bodies posses. The same kind of acids allows the leech to effectively extract nutrients from its prey. The leech will spurt out its digestive acids if it's under attack, making it a more troublesome opponent to deal with, other than its grappling hooks.

Maximum Speed(if any): 0.5 meters/s crawling.

Size(if any): 30cm diameter, 1-2.6 meters long for full grown adult Tiger Leech.

Hazard Type(If any): Corrosive.

Lethality(if any): D. C if Tiger Leech decided to eject its acids to someone.

Biological Info(like reproduction etc): Reproduces by laying eggs.

Uses: Tiger Leech's digestive acids could be used as chemical weapons. Its dead husk however cannot be used.

How to kill it: Throw several Green Asp snakes towards its mouth. The Tiger Leech will quickly die due to the snakes poisons.

This is an important announcement. For your information, thread readers, you're given two options while you're reading this thread.

a) Submit an application for your entry to be listed in the Dangerous Species Index.
b) Do not post anything in this thread and just read the thread.

On what entry should be accepted, that befalls under my judgement for it to be listed or not. So, if you do not like my decision of not accepting your entry, there is always a room for improvement. Try to improve the entry for it to be listed. You will lose nothing if you do so. As a constant reminder, keep OOC post at minimum in this thread. And that is directed to you, The Meta Union.

As listed in the first post,

Heliocalypse wrote:Process time may vary.

Do please understand the simple message.

The Meta Union, if you keep cluttering the thread with OOC post, i afraid, you must leave the thread. Either leave or post a good entry. Thank you for your time reading this message. Brought to you, sincerely Heliocalypse.

As for Neomoskull and Magical Equestria, your entry acceptance into the Index is delayed, until you improve your entry. How to improve? I afraid you need to figure that part out by yourself. Thank you for your time and attention to post in this application thread.

Name: 'Schnorchel'
Local Name: 'Snork'
Scientific Name: 'Schnorchel'
Desired Name to be put in Index: 'Schnorchel'
Sentient? (Y/N): Considered to be.
Class: Homosapien
Appearance: Human crouched on all fours, heavy wounds to the flesh are easily visible and they make use of a GP-7 Gasmask, also notibly, they sound alot like a tiger due to heavily damaged vocal chords.
Picture(if any): You can view the Snork Here and Here
Special Features: The use of highly reactive tendons in the leg allows the Snork to pounce several feet (Avg. 15+ feet) infront of them, before landing with a roll.
Behaviour(Hostile? Defensive? Timid?): Hostile in nature.
Origin: Originally Humans, however, contraction of a disease erased the mind, and now they are nothing more than a human in their primal form.
Habitat: Can range from woodland to sub-urban areas.
Species distribution: 37% Woodland, 63% sub-urban areas.
Brief Description: Overall, the snork is 90-95% similiar to a human, it has the same general shape and no drastic modifications.
It's skin is dark gray, covered with lesions and open wounds, most notably an exposed spine on its back. However, despite the ragged appearance, the snork has incredibly powerful muscles and reflexes.
On the downside, the snork has poor eyesight (his eyes are obstructed by cracked gas mask lenses), but a brilliant sense of smell (his nose is the filter hose for the gas mask), which it uses to locate its prey.
When not attacking, it slowly crawls on all fours across the ground, it's spine unable to support its weight when standing upright.
However, when attacking, it is surprisingly fast, thanks to mutated tendons in its feet, A snork can make long leaps to reach its target and attack it with an incredibly fast series of kicks with their army boot-clad feet.
Maximum Speed(if any): 70 MPH (During Leap), 34 MPH (During Run)
Size(if any): 6' 2 when measured from foot to head, otherwise they reside 50CM from the ground.
Hazard Type(If any): N/A
Lethality(if any): D
Biological Info(like reproduction etc): Snorks do not reproduce, but instead, those who survive them, albeit wounded, typically become one of them over time, (If they find a gasmask, they will use it, we can't explain that part.)
Uses: If you are able to tame them, they are generally found to be even more useful than Dogs.
How to kill it: Fastest way is a shot to the head, otherwise, it can take alot of punishment from bullets.

(Note, not sure if this applies, since they're also a 'civilisation', but I was nudged into posting. I will delete it if not suitable)
Name: Pathogenic / Rethast
Local Name: Pathogenic
Scientific Name: Not applicable.
Desired Name to be put in Index: Pathogenic Rethast
Sentient? (Y/N): Not individually. Rethast operate under a collective consciousness. When severed from this collect, they act on instinct.
Class: Viral based lifeform
Appearance: Humanoid. Six thin, razor sharp fingers on each hand. Gaunt, impossibly thin appearance, hair is chitin needles extending over the back of the head. Numerous bonelike protrusions from the body typically at joints and along the spine or edge of the ribs. Three rows of carnivorous teeth, eyes appear clouded or blind. Tall. No nose or obvious breathing mechanism.
Picture(if any): None
Special Features: Jaw can split to consume things up to the size of an average human head. The entire creature is made of an evolved virus as opposed to cells like humans or other organic life, and as a result is highly infectious. Method of reproduction is large scale replication through infection. Capable of climbing most surfaces, and can see both heat signatures and electrical impulses though almost blind to the visual spectrum of light. Has an aversion to heat and bright light.
Behaviour(Hostile? Defensive? Timid?): Extremely hostile; uses stealth and surprise attacks, attempts to capture victims comatose for further infection.
Origin: Heavy mutation of the once-human Rethast species. The Pathogenic origins are beyond the galactic rim.
Habitat: Typically lives aboard their worldships rather than on planets. Prefer dark or cold habitats when on a planet. Sewers, icy mountains, large cities with plenty of shade.
Species distribution: Widespread, wild Pathogenic can be found all across the galaxy, although the Greater Collect (and thus the civilisation) only contains about half a million Rethast.
Brief Description: The Pathogenic Rethast are a galaxy wide scourge which, which could not be called a nation or civilisation in most senses. Rethast are a viral outbreak, and replicate through infecting organic tissue which is then converted into Rethast embryos. A typical human being can result in anywhere between 2 and 5 embryos. Newborns typically grow to maturity in a matter of hours if fed properly. Rethast do not eat, sleep nor breathe like normal organisms, but to heal wounds require fresh organic flesh to regenerate their viral mass. A lack of any organs or central nervous system makes them extremely difficult to kill. Most Rethast alive in the galaxy do not belong to the Rethast fleets, instead being isolated on worlds and moons across the stars. In small numbers, Rethast form their own hive minds and rarely operate on any level more advanced than raiders or pirates. In worst case scenarios, Rethast can form an entire civilisation on an infected world, as the individual intelligence of each Rethast is directly proportional to the number of Rethast in an area. The more Rethast there are, the smarter they all are.
Maximum Speed(if any): 43 km/h
Size(if any): 7 feet tall.
Hazard Type(If any): Mutagenic
Lethality(if any): Theoretically (and in numerous cases) G. In combat, E.
Biological Info(like reproduction etc): Rethast replicate like viruses. They infect organic matter, and the cells within that being then replicate viral tissue rather than more cells, grown embryos inside the host.
Uses: None. Attempts to contain and control Rethast typically fails due to their volatile nature. Could conceivably be used as a bio-weapon.
How to kill it: Fire is the best (and only reliable) method to kill a Pathogenic Rethast.

The Tohann
Name:
Classified as "Tohann"
Local Name:
Horror, Terror, Beast, etc. Any word used to describe a horrific being of sadistic behaviour
Scientific Name:
N/A
Desired Name to be put in Index:
Tohann
Sentient? (Y/N):
Y
Class:
Death Creature
Appearance:
The creatures that have been witnessed surprisingly resemble human beings with some very important features. They have very pale skin, much paler than any normal human trait, but about as pale as a dead human. The have tiny black eyes along with heavily blackened eye sockets, making it appear as though they have no eyes. The have very long limbs and fingernails, excellent at digging into prey. The most prominent feature of these creatures is their long and sharp teeth. They use these to rip out a prey's eyes before perforating their chest and extracting all fluids within their body.
Picture(if any):
No one has been able to take any pictures of them
Special Features:
A beautiful song they sing that paralyzes their victims right before they attack. They also have the unique ability to morph into the living dead of any species they encounter within one generation. All they need to do is mate with a fertile female of that race and she will give birth to dozens of Tohann young, all in the likeness of her specie's dead. The female will die for obvious reasons.
Behaviour(Hostile? Defensive? Timid?):
Extremely hostile and dangerous. Do not approach and always travel with a group if rumours exist of one lurking nearby.
Origin:
Unknown
Habitat:
LT-designated worlds, "tomb worlds" with underground civilizations that are well suited for them, but terrifying for most sentient species. A handful of planets have been found in Galaxy XJ-10, seemingly abandoned
Species distribution:
Billions of Tohann inhabit Galaxy XJ-10 and are the major inhabitants of that galaxy. They live underground and away from the surface.
Brief Description:
Exceptionally good hunters, they were first encountered by the Stations Alliance on their journey to Sanctuary. Records of the encounter are slim, but it appears as though a scout ship came across the great colony ships making their way to their new planet. Because the journey was over 500 years, many of the inhabitants were left in cryo-stasis, awaiting a time to awake and be reawakened back into the world. Many of them never got the chance, as the Tohann on the ship killed them off. The fate of the Tohann is unknown, but it appears as though they died from exposure, as their bodies were never found. The encounter was deemed too terrible to release to the rest of the colonists, so it was destroyed, along with many other secrets of the ships. Although many had not witnessed the Tohann consciously, a peculiar thing seems to have transpired. Within the confines of cryo-stasis, the colonists soon grew a fear of the creatures on a subconscious level, meaning they soon had an unexplained and terrifying fear of the creatures, more than most humans would find them. Do not attempt interaction with these creatures at all cost.
Maximum Speed(if any):
55 km/h
Size(if any):
Large, over 3 meters in height
Hazard Type(If any):
Neurotoxic (song), Carcinogenic (reproduction)
Lethality(if any):
E if directly in combat, Potentially G if left unchecked
Biological Info(like reproduction etc):
These creatures reproduce by infecting their own females with venom through massive sexual acts. As witnessed by the lone survivor of the Gallant expedition, "They were all over their females, injecting them with God knows what!" These were his last, rambling words before committing suicide and to this day, is all that is known of the creatures' sexual habits.
Uses:
Possible control of the creature could be used as an exceptional scare tactic, along with their ability to silently stalk and kill their prey.
How to kill it:
Strike where the Thyroid-equivalent on their currently "harvested" species is located. The Thyroid seems to be their weakest point, as their metabolism is extremely important to their minute-to-minute survival. No word on why this is. Striking at the brain or heart may not work due to the species they are currently harvesting.

OOC: The creatures I am describing are the sentient forms of the creatures I am working on with Rome. The creatures I am creating with Rome are feral cousins of this master race.
OOC2: Unless otherwise noted, only me or Rome may control what the Tohann do, as we created them.

Name: Yeerk
Local Name: Seerow's Children
Scientific Name: N/A
Desired Name to be put in Index: Yeerk
Sentient? (Y/N): Yes
Class: Sapient gastropod mollusc
Appearance: Yeerks resemble large slugs with a pair of sensing antennae used for echolocation.
Picture(if any): Yeerk slug stimulated for invasion
Special Features: Yeerks have the ability to enter another being's body through the ear canal or appropriate analogous orifice and "meld" with the brain of the host. Doing this gives the Yeerk complete control over the host, including the ability to access the memories of its host, and to read the thoughts (if any) of the now powerless victim.
Behaviour(Hostile? Defensive? Timid?): Yeerk slugs will always aggressively seek out hosts; a sapient who falls into a swamp infested with Yeerks will inevitably come out with some of the creatures having attempted if not succeeded in penetrating his, her or its brain. Once inside the host Yeerks act indistinguishable from the way their host did. This, perhaps more than anything, makes them exceptionally dangerous, as it is impossible to tell when a person has been infested by a Yeerk.
Origin: CLASSIFIED
Habitat: Swamps and bogs
Species distribution: CLASSIFIED
Brief Description: Appearing to be large slugs, Yeerks appear un-intimidating, even harmless, at first. Outside of their hosts, Yeerk slugs are blind, deaf, mute and have almost no nerve endings. They have no natural defenses apart from tasting extremely bad and always traveling in large groups; their primary method of navigation and communication is done via echolocation.
Maximum Speed(if any): On land, approximately 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) per hour. In water or other liquids, up to 8 knots.
Size(if any): Between 2 inches (5 centimeters) and 3 feet (0.9 meters).
Hazard Type(If any): None outside of host
Lethality(if any): None outside of host
Biological Info(like reproduction etc): Yeerks reproduce via a unique if destructive method. During what can be thought of as Yeerk "mating" season three Yeerks will conjoin, at which point an as-of-yet unidentified chemical destroys the bonded Yeerks and produces up to three hundred spawn, which mature over the course of one full (365 day) year. The lifespan of a Yeerk depends on environment, host (if any) and whether the Yeerk resists the urge to mate or not, but at present specimens exist which are thousands of years old, suggesting that if there is a natural limit to the Yeerk lifespan, it is not known.

Yeerks do not consume via the traditional method, having no orifices that would allow them to consume, but instead absorb nutrients via "Kandrona" rays, a specific exotic type of radiation produced by the star that the Yeerk homeworld orbits which has been successfully synthesized to be artificially produced by Xiscapian scientists. All Yeerks must feed every seventy-two-hour period via immersion "bathing" in a Kandrona-irradiated liquid; however, it is possible to make a "dry" transmission of Kandrona radiation artificially with the correct equipment, ensuring that the Yeerk does not need to leave it host to feed. Another alternative is for the Yeerk's host to ingest particular brands of instant maple and ginger oatmeal, which can keep the Yeerk alive indefinitely inside its host, with the side-affect of causing the Yeerk to go insane and become trapped inside the body of its host. If no Kandrona rays are present Yeerks can survive for a short period (up to three hours) immersed in most liquids after the seventy-two-hour limit has expired, including tap and salt water. One method, considered taboo in Yeerk culture, is for a Yeerk to absorb and ingest other Yeerks, which can keep the cannibalistic Yeerk alive indefinitely.

Uses: The Xiscapian Internal Affairs Division, the Xiscapian Imperial Intelligence Department, the Black Guards, the Kitsune Imperial Military and a number of other related organizations use Yeerks as spies and interrogators. The Yeerk homeworld is known to be under Xiscapian protection for this purpose, to the point that its very location and existence is a closely-guarded secret, as Yeerks are highly valued for their abilities, particularly in the Intelligence community. This has the unfortunate if necessary side-affect of causing those who undergo Yeerk interrogation to be either killed, permanently imprisoned or given over to the interrogator as a reward to prevent anyone from alerting the wider universe to the existence of Yeerks and their uses by the various departments.

How to kill it: Outside the host Yeerks are defenseless, and can be killed easily, even a simple press of the foot will suffice. Once inside the host Yeerks are substantially more difficult to destroy, partially because it is often impossible to discern their presence, and partially because most conventional methods would kill the host as well as the Yeerk. The most common method is to simply deprive the Yeerk of its life-giving Kandrona rays, starving it out; however, this process is reputably unpleasant to the host, and could possibly drive the host insane. Another method is to use the "Vanarx", a non-sapient tube-like fanged creature which is the only natural predator of and possibly a cousin to the Yeerks whose name means "Yeerk-bane." The Vanarx can enter the host much in the same fashion as the Yeerk does and devour the parasite while leaving the host unharmed; because of this, and the fact that they are only native to the Yeerk homeworld, the sale, trade and breeding of Vanarx is strictly controlled by the Xiscapian government, though rumor has it that it keeps a stock of Vanarx to deal with Yeerks who have become liabilities or gone rouge.

Hello thread readers, thank you for visiting and reading this thread. Here is an important announcement. Due to specifications of the limitations regarding the species are woefully inadequate, below list such limitations in better detail. Item 3 is added for better defined limitation.

1) The Species slotted for Index entry may not posses highly evolved form of travel, such as any initial form of FTL by their own
2) The Species slotted for Index entry may not posses initial highly advanced intelligence such as piloting ships or any mode of transport or vehicles by their own.

Regarding Threat Level, if a species is specified as a Parasitic or Viral Species, it will get assigned Threat Level of Variable, due to the fact that there are no viable way to tell how dangerous the species will be as its threat level varies on what it do infect with. For example, a Yeerk may infect Schnorchel and given Threat Level of 2, while a Yeerk that infected a Greaterdactyl may have overall Threat Level of 13.

Ruskarkand wrote:-snip-

Thank you for your application. For more defined entry and to avoid confusion, do please change or list N/A for the scientific name of your species entry. Since there are insufficient data supplied in the Origin field, it will be listed as Schnorchel, Unknown Planet, Unknown System, Ruskarkand. The species is designated with Threat Level of 1.5

Duly apologies, due to a new ruling made, your entry is delayed from being listed in the Index. Do make note of the new ruling below,

A Species slotted for Index entry may not have a potential to form a civilization.

However, the below entry is accepted due to its status of being a Parasitic Species.

Name: Eridani panzershark

Local Name: panzershark, panzie, jawsie

Scientific Name: Thalassarchos Eridanicus

Desired Name to be put in Index: Eridani Panzershark

Sentient? (Y/N): No

Class: Placodermi

Appearance: A massive fish up to 10 metres long. The body is stocky, powerful and heavily armored. The head is particularly prominent with its exposed armor plating and massive jaws. The armor is exposed at the head and thorax but continues along most of the body underneath the skin. The colour ranges from dark gray to yellow with black stripes depending on the habitat.

Local Name: Issh' Krraa' Sskiss' Shaak - "Those that think and speak" (rough translation)

Scientific Name: Therapoda sapiens

Desired Name to be put in Index: Feral Sskiss

Sentient? (Y/N): Yes - and highly cooperative. Important Note: The following assumes in particular "feral" Sskiss. That is, those Sskiss which cannot assimilate within civilization and exist in a natural primordial state.

Class: E, F or G - depending on species (sheer physical strength, serrated teeth, large talons on fingers (3) and feet (3 functional 1 non-functional (hallux)), Large size (in some cases), High levels of sustained activity (endurance and stamina) intelligent and cooperative. For sub-adults reduce lethality by one grade. For yearlings and two year olds, reduce by two grades. For hatchlings, reduce by three grades.

Appearance: All of the over 3000 different species of Sskiss are considered in their own right to be extremely lethal. All species are based on the ancient therapod dinosaurs of Earth. Size. proportions, colour and markings will vary widely from species to species. They have over the eons, retained their basic morphology and have radiated into the currently number of species that exist at present. The now defunct ESUS alliance possessed several excepts within their primary codex on the specifics of dealing with Sskiss. The "feral" Sskiss are even more difficult and unpredictable to deal with and will not hesitate to kill and eat other sentients should the opportunity present itself.

Special Features: All species possess the following adaptations; A highly developed eyesight capable of up to ten times the human baseline. Also the ability to detect more subtle variables in colour. Some of the smaller species, also possess reasonably good night vision as well. Limited depth perception in others. The sense of smell in all species (particularly the "Tyrannosaur forms") is also highly developed. All species possess huge olfactory lobes (often up to half the size of the brain itself) and a superb "smell memory". The interior of the snout also contains scroll-like structures that greatly increases the surface area for detecting and processing scent molecules.

An efficient avian style heart and lungs connected to a complex air sac system grants the Sskiss as a whole high levels of sustained physical activity - oxygen is retained longer within all tissues. The heart is large, four chambered and thickly walled. Smaller species tend to possess proportionally larger hearts. Musculature is fibrous and densely compacted and is laced with bundles of dense cord-like structures presumed to be muscular in nature. The bones are dense and laminated in layers to increase strength and flexing (although such flexing would not be visible to the naked eye). The areas for muscle attachments (the joints and skull) are particularly large and possess "flanges", crests or ridges of bone to increase the surface area for the attachment of larger muscles. Such crests are often perforated with "frenestrae" (windows) to reduce the weight of the bone while at the same time not decreasing its strength.

Behaviour(Hostile? Defensive? Timid?): Highly territorial, aggressive nature. Can be reasoned with (often with difficulty), but only from a distance. Any Sskiss reaction is often triggered by smell or actions such as running away, which triggers the instinctive predatory response. Highly cooperative nature when hunting. Known pack hunters.

Origin: Originally Sol III (Earth). However, currently the Sskiss have inhabited the Riiss' Sslash A.III binary planet system (among others) for approximately 65 million years.

Habitat: Highly variable depending on species. Assume high distribution within most terrestrial habitats and climates. Basically, wherever there is enough food, their will be Sskiss present to exploit it. As a side note, The Sskiss are well adapted to somewhat higher gravities, but not very well adapted to lower gravities. They prefer moderate to rather high gravities, usually within the range of 1 - 2 g's.

Species distribution: Currently inhabit several scores of worlds with populations in the millions.

Brief Description: Refer to description above.

Maximum Speed(if any): Variable. Most Sskiss species fall between 45 - 100 km per hour. Acceleration is rapid - especially in the smaller species. Smaller species can also sustain high speeds for prolonged periods and possess precise turn rates. Many of the smaller species are also superb leaper's.

Size(if any): Variable (depending on species). Sskiss generally range from 3 - 15 meters in length. Most species however are between 3 - 5 meters in length. Height is generally 40 -50% of length. Mass varies, ranging from 100k to several metric tones.

Hazard Type(If any): None officially known. However, it is quite possible that some Sskiss may habitually harbour a variety of pathogenic bacterium due to their tendency to consume carrion.

Lethality(if any): variable.

Biological Info(like reproduction etc): Sexual/Oviperous - all species. Viciously protective of nest.

Uses: None known.

How to kill it: High powered military firearms etc... Smaller lighter firearms are often insufficient. The farther you are away from it, the better...
