As well, the thread will be home to the Champions Hockey League competition, which is heading to its 5th installment. You can enter teams simply by posting league standings in here and telling what teams qualify for it. Nations can enter up to five teams in it, as those will play each other for the most wanted title of World Club Champions and Globe de Cristal (that's the name of the trophy) holders. For more informations, this link will provide you with anything you need to know about the competition.

For those who don't know how to scorinate, I suggest reading the "Guide to Sports Role-playing" thread. It will greatly help you to achieve that.

Ad’ihan Hockey High League
Season 5 regular season

Yet another regular season of the Hockey High League — the second in its current incarnation and format — has come to an end. In the end there was little surprise as to which teams did well and which teams didn't (the Season 4 expansion teams, predictably, did poorly) — but what was a surprise was the new league record for worst regular season performance.

Daniels County, a team which finished its inaugural season 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 10-48-10 (W-L-T) record, came nowhere close to matching their 30-point haul from season 4 when they somehow contrived to go 2-63-3 for a grand total of seven points, 26 points off 11th-placed Airport City. Their record 305 goals conceded in 68 games (GAA of 4.49) also led the league in goals allowed.

A number of notably poor performances were witnessed during the season. The Kirkenes Dragons in particular suffered a particularly poor season amid injury problems and rumoured locker room unrest. Inter Latrobe, defending Desjardins Cup champions, also performed surprisingly poorly and only just grabbed the last playoff spot on the final day of the season. Despite a poor 2-2 tie with the Rangers, both Colwyn and Vickery lost their final games and Inter squeaked through. Olympique Langlois, 2007 champions, also barely made it.

In a pitched relegation battle, a single goal saved CS Val d'Argent in a 1-0 final day victory at home to Dieppe Thunderhawks, allowing them to prevail on wins.

THE BYE - HOCKEY LEAGUE

The Bye's first edition of the new hockey league has ended, involving 26 different teams. There is no relegation and promotion, and top 8 after the teams play each other twice go to the playoffs, with the better placed teams winning the right to play two games at home on this stage. Top 5 during the league stage go to international competitions, unless the champion isn't among the top 5 (in this scenario, the 5th will give its place to the champion). The Bye's population, including athletes, are always tired, so they reject playing more games, and neither the population wants to watch more games, as this would make them even more tired. But due to the high amount of teams that go to The Bye when they were supposed to be resting in a competition, the country feels forced to promote a league and the development of players.

OOC: This may not be the place to put this but I think it bears questioning... how do domestic sports leagues work? Do you just make up teams, scorinate and post the results here?

Pretty much, you can also put up different ratings for each teams when you do it. Like how some teams will never win but others are always their ranks and such.

Thanks for answering my question. What scorinator are you using? I need one...

Welcome everybody to the fifth edition of the Champions Hockey League, the International Club Championship for the sport of Ice Hockey. This year, a record of 57 teams entered the competition (OOC: Sorry, Taeshan, but your submission exceeded the deadline by about 5 hours. However, those clubs will be entered in the CHL6 unless you decide otherwise), up from the previous record of 47, hit in the last Champions Hockey League, won by Stormguard. But before the actual Qualifications draw, there are some changes to the format this season. We hope to keep it the same for the next few seasons.

First, the number of teams to enter directly in the Group Stage is 21. That way, we can ensure that every league gets at least an entrant in the final stages of the league and can, possibly, cause a kind of upset. Second, there will be three qualifying rounds. We intend to keep it this way so that less stages are played before the actual competition begins. Third, the third round will consist of 3 groups of 3 teams each, played in a neutral venue over a single weekend. That way, costs can be cut down, especially after the first two rounds that could be quite costy. It's also a good test for those arenas as to whether they can organise a CHL Final. The format of the Group stage, as usual, will be 8 groups of 3 teams, from whom advance 16 teams. Finally (OOCly), a new scorinator will be used this time. Xkoranate, the scorinator Commerce Heights designed, seemed like a good one to use for such an event and, as such, will be used, at least, for this edition.

And now... the Final host vote!

This time, three arenas bidded for the honour of holding the final on their rink. Those are:

- Aréna du Complexe Sportif, Septentrionalis, Septentrionia
- Downtown Digidome, Downtown, Plutoni
- Gallen's Hove, Stormguard, Valanora

And now, the proper vote:
First Round
Gallen's Hove, Stormguard 9
Aréna du Complexe Sportif, Septentrionalis 8
Downtown Digidome, Downtown 3

Downtown Digidome was eliminated

Second Round
Gallen's Hove, Stormguard 11
Aréna du Complexe Sportif, Septentrionalis 9

Gallen's Hove will host the CHL5 final.

And now, the Qualifying phase draw:

QSPN CHL Update

For the first time ever, the QHL sent 4 teams to the CHL championships, instead of 3.

In the first qualifing round, Fromburg Lions took on Bedroom Vacations of The Bye. After a 2-2 draw in the Bedroom, the Lions lost game two at home 0-1 to be eliminated.

But the QHL does get 3 teams in the Group stage:

First, in Group B, the 1957/58 QHL champions Lorax City have to take on Stormguard (ESF), the defending CHL Champions, and Intel Coocoobad (Coocoostan). Looks to be a tough group.

Secondly, SaxerVilla, the suprising Grant Cup finalists, will be in Group G, along with Sudistes de Bourdailleux (Septentrionia) and Jokerit Arvika (Kelssek). SaxerVilla would be hard pressed to advance past this stage.

Finally, the Qazox City Eagles, are in Group H with Southport (Newmanistan) and Noka Mariners (Jasīʼyūn). Another interesting group.

Both Lorax City and Qazox City Eagles should qualify into the round of 16.

The New Cleethorpes Enquirer
Greschmeier President: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

Björn Jonasson, President of Greschmeier Mountain Sports Club, made clear his feelings on the playoff draw in the 5th Champions Hockey League. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO," he said to assembled reporters at a press conference called to react to the news that the Forks would once again play Elven side Therathor, who knocked his team out in the previous CHL edition. He later continued: "-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO," before repeatedly slapping himself in the forehead.

Therathor, who finished second overall in the EHL this season, went on to feature in the CHL4 final, losing to compatriots Stormguard, and represent a tough challenge for the Forks, who managed only 1 win in the group stage of competition. "It will be a tough challenge," admitted captain Dietrich Harmann, who won the inaugural Sebestyen Szöllôsi Award for Person Who Hits the Puck Better Than All the Other Players Hit It in the latest Bank of Highmark Hockey League. Nor will other Quodite performances have given a great deal of confidence, as all but the Cuboids crashed out in the first round, with the former domestic champions then losing to Dyamo Nordiqueville in the second.

But outside the club, the news was favourably received. Ever since the two teams played, Therathor have enjoyed a small but devoted fanbase among Quodite fans, in common with other Elven sides who saw their popularity grow after the national football team played the Vanorians in the football World Cup. Headbands with small ears attached are popular headwear and fans have been known to chant utterly incomprehensible Quenya phrases to leaven dull moments at domestic games. Kit manufacturers have even reported having to buy in special presses to print names featuring e-umlauts.

Some younger Greschmeier squad members are expected to feature in Quintessence of Dust's inaugural WCoH team, but right now they say their priority is the CHL. "We're going to go out and try to kick some Elven butt," confirmed Josh Wallin. "That is, I mean...do they have butts?"
