Let it be known that the empty shell of an organization known as the United League of Nations has defied repeated calls for their dissolution from not only the Freekish Empire, but our coalition allies in the Brimstone Pact as well. The ULN is a representation of what currently plagues our planet; it is an organization that promotes a false ideology and caters to the lowest common denominators across the globe who seek to assert power and influence that they quite simply do not have. It is nothing more than a cancer, a malignant tumor that must be forcibly removed before it is allowed to further fester and deteriorate its host.

Under the guise of their false ideology, the leadership have lured weak and incompetent rulers from all corners of the world into their sphere of influence, attempting to exploit them through sheer force of numbers in order to front their insidious agenda, and the Freekish Empire will not tolerate these actions any longer, and nor shall our coalition.

As of this afternoon, I have ordered an unspecified number of Freekish submarines to begin actively targeting all commercial and civilian maritime traffic, in order to send a message of just how serious we are.

Your ships will not be safe on the high seas, and we will sink any vessel that are encountered. Any survivors that are encountered will either be executed on the spot, or shipped off to Deus, so that they may be put to good use. Or perhaps they will find use in the Halls of the Dead, Automagfreek's most infamous torture facility. These attacks will continue until the leadership of the ULN comes to the table and accepts the demands of the Brimstone Pact coalition, and should the ULN remain defiant, we will increase the size, scale, and location of our strikes accordingly.

There will be no further instruction given, for the ULN has been warned.

Within hours of Lord Dreadfire's proclamation, a sizable and classified number of Freekish 'Supremacy' class stealth submarines began actively patrolling international waters in key shipping lanes looking for any vessel belonging to a ULN member-state, be it commercial or civilian in nature. The orders were quite simple: engage and destroy upon confirmation of the target, and no quarter was to be given. Additional submarines would also be sent deeper into international waters near New Korongo, but would remain far enough away so as to not encroach on their territorial waters....just yet.

It did not take long for the first potential targets of the Brimstone Pact to appear on scopes, civilian ships heading out of the waters of Finium. After having confirmed the nature of the vessels in question, firing solutions were prepared and the crews on board the 'Supremacy' class subs prepared to fire the first shots in what would be a violent war. They were prepared to make Lord Dreadfire's voice heard as they armed their torpedo tubes and locked onto their prey, anxiously awaiting the final order to engage.....

All members were gathered. They knew why they were here. The AMF had openly stated that they would attack shipments sailing under the Flag of ULN members. For a Island Nation like Tehraan who also relied on shipping goods from their trading partners and Autonomous states of Tehraani and the Tehraanian Natal State. The AMF states attacks on shipping were of great concern to them. The tension in the room could be felt as Tehraan had not faced a thread to their nation of this magnitude.
"How are we going to responed to this?" The minster of economics asked. "It obvious we can sit back an let this pass away like we did with the Allenean attack a few years ago." General Kayamég Itaké of defense responded. "We can't afford the damage that will happen to our nation if this AMF continues unabated. Not to metion this is only the beginning. As it looks right now the ULN is on the road of an all out war for survival. We must take action." He continued. It was silent for a moment as everybody thought on what to say. Then The High Chairman Néntayég Dayé who had been silent for the entire meeting started speaking "what do you propose? Submarines threaten our ship routes, our civilians on those ships are in danger and our economy is in danger of being disrupted. The ULN counsel and members are in total uproar concerning the ultimatums that were called and we need to take action." He said looking at all the members who said in their chair petrified as result of the tension hanging.

General Kayamég waited for a while and them spoke.
"Until the ULN can get a clear plan on this we must focus on our own affairs in this, me must protect our shipping a best as we can. I suggest sending out our navy to hunt the AFM submarines in our trading routes. When the ULN rallied we can focus on other actions. Untill now this is our only option" He said. "So, does anyone have some objection to this?" Néntayég asked to others, "No? Good. Begin immediately. I'll send a message to Tehraani and the Tehraanian Natal State to join on this operation." He said.

From several Naval bases in Tehraan and it's colonies, Ships and submarines left. They would protect their trade routes from those that would threaten them and hunt down the aggressor subs. Small groups of Tehraanian ships escorted as many shipments as possible while destroyers and frigates and submarines patrolled trade routes hunting AFM submarines that entered them. Reallying on the best ASW equipment the Tehraanian Military had to offer they might be able to put down some of AFMs bravado.

All across the empire, billions of citizens listened and watched as Lord Dreadfire of Automagfreek set forth his decree upon the United League of Nations (ULN). They listened and watched attentively as moments before the broadcast, their typically normal day was interrupted with the voice of the Emperor instructing them to observe –critically, the message that was to follow. The Emperor asked the people of Sambizie to consider many factors and ask themselves many questions while Lord Dreadfire’s message aired. The Emperor himself, his Lord’s, and Protectorate’s also considered many aspects and possibilities of even reaching a non-partisan decision either in support for, or opposed to the current -escalating situation between AMF and the ULN. However, while the people who maintained the empire watched, listened, and promised a “voice,” the people who defended the empire had “other” instructions concerning the matter at hand.

For the people of Sambizie, the emperor asked them to consider the sacrifices of their Gothic brethren on –and off the battlefields. He asked them to consider what these sacrifices of not only AMF, but also the other Goth Lord’s have meant to them throughout their long coexistence of first the Allied Powers and now Gholgoth. (During the video broadcast, images from around the empire of Imperial Monuments dedicated to various Gothic Lords displayed)The Emperor asked the people to consider the meanings of “costs” and “peace,” on this -the eve of the 50th year of no known (direct) hostilities. Understandably, as a member-nation of Gholgoth, hostilities are an inevitable consistent in most forms. However, silence does not denote presence. As such, the people of Sambizie have not had foreign soldiers on their lands in one-half century and asked to consider at what cost it has been to the empire the freedoms of the lands. However, despite the broadcast and things to come, the Emperor strongly encouraged the people of the empire to not worry and enjoy the following day’s nation-wide festivities.

From the moment, the Emperor received the broadcast the complex wheels of the machine known only as Sambizie begin to turn. The Lord’s and Protectorate’s scrambled from around the continent to convene in an “emergency-session” however, directives indicating the Emperor and Lord’s decisions began to trickle down through the chain. It was preemptive to a more finalized position once the Emperor and Lord’s as soon as they could meet. Throughout the Empire the message was clear, and the Emperor would address the people of Sambizie at the following mornings festivities. However, it was a consensus amongst the population that the decree by Lord Dreadfire was hardly the reason for this sleeping giant to wake. In retrospect it was not completely unexpected. The people always wanted war.

Maybe it was only that old habits die hard. People like to sit around and discuss the war. Who's gaining ground, who's losing it. It all seems so abstract when you think of it as just pieces moving on a battlefield, an enormous game of chess a thousand miles away. When they demobilise all that extra materiel will flood the civilian market and hungry buyers will gather 'round like children at Christmas. I've always wanted a Lyran Arms tank, they're so shiny.

Mark Hopkins'd thought they were past all that. After war came to Steel and Fire itself. But no. When the time came they just as casually took up arms to defend their homes, mourned their dead and tallied up personal kill counts. Even now though the country was reborn Elysia some still opposed the government soldiers by force of arms, grinning as they squeezed the triggers. "Nothing personal."

So when it came down to a vote, the people always wanted war. It would restore the nation's honour and prestige. Or maybe it'd just provide a stimulus to the civil-war-battered economy. Somehow. You could quote broken window fallacy at Elysians until you were blue in the face. And Mark Hopkins was almost regretting the trust he placed in the public.

Almost. It was too easy and too hard to let himself go down the other route, put the people out of the equation altogether. That was pure tyranny.

And this was not a bad cause, all things considered.

As such, in the hope of staving off such future actions as the Empire is prone to conducting at odd intervals, the Republic has seen fit to declare that a state of war now exists between itself and AMF.

Please reply via the Consulate to arrange for the removal of any existing Freekish nationals residing within Elysia, as well as to co-ordinate stricter security arrangements for the Consulate itself; in the event that you do not wish to break off diplomatic relations completely, we shall do our utmost to ensure that your envoys are not harmed.

Due to political pressure Zonolia WILL NOT be sending ships into Finium waters they have not left port yet; and a state of war between AMF and Zonolia does not exist.

It felt good to be back home. Damien missed the ancient, imposing structure that was the Great Hall and the rustic, mystical atmosphere that embraced it. In the time since his return he had accomplished much, considerably more than his brother Vladius had ever done, for the Sovereign Empire's Coalition had disbanded and the United League of Nations was about to come off life support. It was a strong message that had been sent, two alliances destroyed within such a short space of time. Lord Dreadfire was proud.

As he sat at his desk inside the throne room shuffling through various reports from the front, The One, his shadowy, other worldly guardian and servant materialized in the dark corner of the room. His long black coat and wide brim hat concealed much of his ghastly figure, and slowly he started off towards his Lord and Master, interrupting him with the latest news.

M'Lord, my apologies for the disturbance.

Damien was so used to The One's random appearances that he was no longer startled, and indeed could even sense when he was about to arrive. What do you have for me now?

A small folder containing several documents was then placed on the Supreme Warlord's desk, and The One proceeded to explain the situation. As you know Lord, all goes well with the blockades. Reports are that foreign ships are simply avoiding the situation altogether by not setting sail in the first place, either that or the ships have diverted elsewhere. No vessels have been seized or sunk, but the blockade is a success nonetheless and is having devastating effect.

Damien nodded in agreement, already knowing much of this information.

However, Great One, the Elysians have issued a declaration of war.

This caused Dreadfire to scoff ever so slightly, obviously not amused at the development nor taking it seriously. I see no cause for alarm, the Elysians are in no position to engage in protracted warfare against the Empire, let along Brimstone and Gholgoth for that matter. I trust that in the days to come they will see the folly in their words and quietly forget they ever issued them in the first place. Notify our forces across the globe, and inform our Supremacy commanders as well, but as of now I will simply be ignoring them. If they are serious about what they speak of, they will come to us.

The One concurred, bowing respectfully before dissolving into the shadows and leaving Damien alone in the throne chamber once more. Freekish and allied Gothic and Brimstone forces were soon alerted to the development, and though Automagfreek would not be going on the offensive, this option was not ruled out for its allies... who had done well in their task to snuff out the infidels and usher in a new era of prosperity and enlightenment.

Upon announcement of the policy, the Vetalian government reacted swiftly to align its policies with those of the Freeks. A full embargo was placed upon commerce with the ULN, an action that would have no small effect given Vetalia's substantial presence in international trade. Even if there were no direct contact between the two parties, the effect on intermediaries would be substantial enough for those involved to reconsider and align with the Vetalian view. The Vetalian Navy, experienced in enforcing embargoes from years of economic warfare began preparations to ensure no illegitimate cargoes left Vetalian ports and to round up any smugglers attempting to evade the ban.

In regards to the recent declaration of strikes against shipping in the ULN and from the perspective of our our own commitments to Gholgoth and the Brimstone Pact, the Vetalian government has placed an embargo on all cargoes flying under the Vetalian flag. Companies affected by this enforced furlough are encouraged to apply for special economic relief from the Ministry of Finance, and all workers will be eligible for long-term unemployment benefits for the duration of this policy. The Vetalian government accepts no responsibility for those who choose to evade this ban and any and all losses determined to be a result of such actions are a violation of standing law and punishable by fines, imprisonment, and seizure of assets as per the Uniform Civil Code (Revised) of 1986.

The rolling thunder of the sea was for once nothing, a mere whisper when compared to the mighty roar that was the Soviet Citizenry as they watched their mighty Red Navy make their final preparations before departure. The Red Navy, long the smallest and most overlooked of the various Neo Bolshevist Military Arms was finally having it’s day as the word had come forth from the Upper Party and Ministry of Contentment for action in support of the Freekish Empire’s blockade of ULN Nation’s shipping. This act was not considered by many a critical front and so the Neo Bolshevist Union was not responding with the normally overwhelming force and instead readied only a single ship.

A mighty Kirov Missile Cruiser sat alone in the expansive docks that could support over ten Red Navy Vessels at one time. Hordes of Lower Party and Comrade Proletarian milled about the gangway, cheering and waving to their valiant sailors as they finished their preparatory actions. As the ship’s crew came to the position of attention along the sides of the vessel the ship’s captain and his command staff appeared from the depths of the vessel. The Captain was an impressive figure, his gaunt face set atop an obviously muscled body that bore dozens of scars from past engagements. At his side strode two others, the first of which was obviously from the Ministry of Contentment with his jet black uniform that conjured a primal sense of fear in even the most resolute of men. At his side slowly walked one of the fabeled Mocnih, chosen warrior-priests of the Gospodar Lubanja.

The Warrior-Priests’ body was covered in scars much the same as the Captain, but these were not products of some military engagement or long forgotten campaign. Instead these were ritual marks that all were part of a much larger picture, the rough pink lines forming a mighty and unblinking eye when viewed from afar. At his side the man carried an axe, dozens of notches ran up and down the handle with the blade being stained dark red, almost black, by it’s constant use. They came to stand before the crowd at the tip of the ship’s bow, the rocking of the waves making the figures appear to grow and shrink regularly.

The crowd hushed without command, sensing the importance of this moment. They were not disappointed as another party of individuals arrived from behind their sweaty mass, from the looks of their vehicles important individuals. The constant rain of ash that accompanied everything within the Neo Bolshevist Union lent a festive air to the arrival of this new party, the products of industry instead appearing to be confetti. Great cheers sprang up in the patriotic crowd as Admiral of the Navy, Dmitri Ovanvitch Illium stepped out flanked by a retinue of Ministry of Contentment Officers. The gray sun even shined, fighting back the oppressive cloud cover for a brief instant to cast a light over the dozens of medals that hung upon the Admiral’s Uniform.

Dazzled, the crowd roared and soon the Telescreens in the area matched their roars to a hearty patriotic tune. Capitalizing on the jovial mood of the assembly, the Admiral waved to the men in the Volga SUVs behind his own, nodding as the Priests of the Lubanja spilled out to flank him. A philosophical observer would have noticed this potent symbol of the Neo Bolshevist System, on one side stood the black clad representatives of the Party and State while on the other stood the robed heralds of the Cult and the State, the Admiral’s central presence reflected the Military Mind of the Neo Bolshevist Union quiet nicely and the image was captured forever by the telescreens within view.

Raising his one hand to the crowd the Admiral smiled and with the help of his Gas Mask’s vocal enhancement systems roared,

A great roar was his response, the assembled people eagerly doing their jobs. Within the Neo Bolshevist State, citizens who were eager to cheer for officials and dignitaries were valued and many thousands like those assembled near the ship were paid by the State to cheer it. The obvious propaganda value of these citizens was enough to warrant their assembly but as always the Ministry of Contentment was quick to guard against other think. Even as the Admiral looked on, black clad figures stalked through the crowds silencing those who were cheering too much or “motivating” those that did not cheer enough.

Content that he had been praised enough to continue the Admiral raised his hand again and said,

The roar for the admiral was nothing compared to the tempest of human emotion that was unleashed. Barbaric howls sounded from the Red Army soldiers in attendance as the living symbol of their God was made visible and the average Comrade Worker or Proletarian merely cheered, knowing that with Katya came Rurik Siloviki. Sure enough, the Ashen Tsarvitch was only a step behind his Woman and under his glare the crowd quieted.

Katya stepped forward and stood before her Cultists, awe inspiring in her dark majesty. Thin script curled up and down every limb, highlighting her erotic physique. The fiery hair that fell down to her shoulders was braided and close observers would see that they were held together with small finger bones, no doubt from the most celebrated of kills. As the eyes swept downwards they would see the thousands of tiny trophies that served to express the volume of lives she had taken for the Gospodar before emigrating to the Neo Bolshevist Union. Every man in the audience however felt no lust for her, on the contrary there was a general sense of sexual revulsion simply because she was so damned deadly. As if waiting for the inspection to finish the Scion waited several moments before shouting,

On her order the Telescreens as one switched from the anthem of the Neo Bolshevist Union to a grim tolling of some great bell. The shuffle of feet could be heard and suddenly the first of the great procession came into view. Clad in only loin clothes, the most beautiful young girls of the coastal city of Unity marched down towards the ship. Ministry of Contentment Officers violently cleared the ma pathway and more than one walked upon the broken bones of the fallen. Ringing the ship the virgins turned and bowed in worship of the Gospodar, raising their hands to his Scion.

Rurik Siloviki chose this moment to step forward, as much to address his people as to remind them exactly who was in control of the Neo Bolshevist Union. There were no cheers for the Minister of Contentment, instead he received only the people’s awe struck and fearful gazes. Raising a hand he rasped out,

The Minister of Contentment’s tone was not one of questioning. The people were not asking to contribute to the State, they were being told such was the way of the Neo Bolshevist Union. Almost an afterthought, the Minister finished with,

As such, we are making known to all relevant commanders our intentions prior to setting sail.

The Imperial Navy of the Imperiate will be sending two Gorzelin Lenexa Class Nuclear Air Craft Carriers; twenty Hellscream Class Guided Missile Battleships; and fifty Virida Class Guided Missile Destroyers as part of Task Force Charlie Delta. Each ship shall serve in an accessory capacity to the Freekish Naval Forces, targeting flagged ULN merchant and naval vessels at your discretion.

Mark Hopkins shook his head no. "They are the only important ones. The others we may leave alone unless they threaten our interests."

"Mr. Hopkins," said Cassandra Miroyan, the Field Marshal, with a frown. "While we appreciate your interest in strategy, the Ministry of Defense has been gathering and analysing intelligence for some time now, and we know the Brimstone Pact is more than the paper tiger so commonly believed--"

Hopkins smiled. "No; you misunderstand me. The Freeks are central. I don't doubt that if we were to invade the Kraven homeland they would present if anything an even greater obstacle, nor do I doubt that the other nations have impressive military capabilities of their own. But Automagfreek is always where it originates. Its word carries weight. Its military force, though not necessarily greater than that of its allies, is a symbol."

"The Freeks have also done very little," Miroyan said. "It's between their submarines and attacking Gholgoth itself, and the latter would not be a good use of resources without allied help. It would be more advantageous to go after smaller, weaker, more easily presentable targets -- Deus, Milograd...."

"All they have done so far is send submarines and promise to destroy enemy shipping," Hopkins agreed. "All we must do therefore is keep them from achieving that particular goal. If they choose to escalate, we escalate as well. They haven't replied to the declaration of war, not even with one of their typical 'insolent worms, we shall crush you' pronouncements; it's clear they're not taking this seriously as yet."

"So you're suggesting we simply send out hunter-killers and fiddle around hoping they show themselves, instead of sending aid to the nations of the ULN under attack right now?"

"Nations of the what now?"

Within seven days of the declaration of war the Ministry of Defense reported a total of eleven Elysian hunter-killer subs within the general areas known to be under Freekish sub nets. Within a fortnight there were almost thirty. It was around that time that the first enemy subs were pinged.

They had probably heard the Elysians coming in advance, since they were running silent. This did not terribly concern the commander of the submarine that had located them since he had been actively looking. No sense in trying to hide. At very least, not until after he knew they were there. Then he did give the order to cut active systems and reduce noise to a minimum. Every so often the enemy pair of submarines would be pinged again, from a somewhat different point. Their opposite number was approaching torpedo range.

Of course, he'd also been ordered not to fire the first shot, but they had no way of knowing that.

Since the Elysian declaration of war, joint Freekish and Gothic intelligence networks began monitoring communications and movements at Elysian ports for whatever information they could gather. On the surface not much was happening, on either side, but beneath the waves it was a much different story.

The first 'Supremacy' class submarine to be actively pinged was the Blackened Deep, which was able to passively detect the ping and act accordingly by quietly deploying a UUV into the waters, which would move in the opposite direction as the 'Supremacy' wolf pack. Freekish High Command had order the submarines operating in ULN waters to engage only civilian craft, in the event they countered military resistance they were to divert and move into different waters.

And so it was done, the Blackened Deep began heading further out into international waters silently at its maximum operating depth, while the UUV began moving towards the source of the ping. At the appropriate time, the UUV sent out an active ping of its own, mimicking that of the 'Supremacy' class with the intention of keeping the unknown submarines distracted long enough for the Freekish vessels to escape. After fleeing the areas, the subs then began heading out towards the waters of different ULN members, for harass and retreat was the name of the game.

This measure was repeated in every circumstance upon encountering a hostile presence.

Upon reaching the safety of the vastness of international waters, the submarines when drew closer to the surface in order to receive updated mission orders, and with more and more ULN members abandoning ship, the list of targets grew ever shorter. Freekish High Command was preparing itself the a possible Elysian offensive, though it was unclear if such an event would take place. Automagfreek was thus far acting as if the declaration simply didn't exist and had chosen instead to ignore it and concentrate on other matters, such as shoring up Brimstone hegemony in the international geopolitical scene.

However, they would prepare for any eventualities and continue their harassment of commercial shipping of those who even still refused to leave the ULN.
