Postby Itinerate Tree Dweller » Thu May 07, 2009 12:16 am

Information on the United Roman Empire

The The Illustrious Empire of the United Romans is an historically powerful nation, rich in history and traditions. Following the overthrow of Roman Emperor Hadrian in 130 A.D., the head of the gens Xericus rose to the position of Roman Emperor. His first order of business was the reorganization of the Imperial government to better suit his needs, the size of the Imperial Senate was doubled and citizenship was further limited to only those who have served the government, specifically veterans. These changes remain in place nearly 2000 years later.

United Roman Empire: Financial Policies

Postby Itinerate Tree Dweller » Fri Jun 12, 2009 4:52 am

Financial Policies of the United Roman Empire

Roman Credit
Image

The Roman Credit (Cr) is the currency used for transactions within the bounds of the United Roman Empire. This currency is administered and controlled by the central banking system in Alexandria. Originally adopted as a joint venture with the Directorate Alliance, this currency now serves as the primary currency of the United Roman Empire.

The banknotes are designed for ease of use and identification. In 1975 the currency was redesigned to accommodate those citizens or civilians who have poor or no eye-sight. Banknote dimensions vary according to the banknote value.

The United Roman Empire originally used a currency based on the Roman Denarii, which was a physical currency based on coinage. This currency performed well well into the 19th century, when paper currency was adopted. Paper currency is still used in most locations. Alongside paper, a new electronic form was adopted when the idea of 'credit cards' was formally adopted by major banking institutions. The central bank in Alexandria created a universal credit card in the 1980's and allowed citizens interest free use of this new banking institution. Today the credit cards are no longer used, instead citizens make use of cell phone and personal digital assistant like devices to organized and transfer their monies, but only as a supplement to their paper money assets.

The Roman Credit is valued at one (1) credit for 1/36 ounces (0.787486753 grams) of gold and/or one (1) credit for 1/2.34 ounces (12.1151808 grams) of silver. The value of gold and silver are set by law, for this reason gold and silver are not traded as a commodity in the United Roman Empire.

United Roman Empire: Education

Postby Itinerate Tree Dweller » Sun Jun 14, 2009 6:56 am

Education in the United Roman Empire

Education within the United Roman Empire is funded by public taxation, private organizations and property taxation on the local level, but is regulated on a national level. The Senate Education and Labor Committee, its subcommittees and the Ministry of Education, under the Secretary of Education, regulates the curriculum of all schools and education centers. The education system of the United Roman Empire is comparable with those of other first world nations. Persons who make a combined income of 100,000 credits per year are required by law to fund the education of their children. Education is free only for students who are either in Preschool through Middle Level College. Students who wish to persue a Masters degree or a Doctorate must pay certain tuition fees.

Culture of the United Roman Empire

Holidays in the United Roman Empire
The United Roman Empire has a very diverse group of European citizens that still retain their ancient beliefs and customs. Most notably is the celebration of Saturnalia which is an ancient Roman cultural festival where offerings are made to the Roman Gods.

Also celebrated are the birth dates of current monarchs, which are celebrated for a full week prior to the birth date, culmination on the exact date of the birth of the monarch. During these festivals, all temples are usually decorated and sacrifices are made to the ancient Roman Gods, paying special attention to Venus and Mars, who are said to have shown special favor to the royal line.

Christmas and other Judaeo-Christian festivals are also common, considering a majority of the nation is Roman Catholic.

Marriage Customs in the United Roman Empire
  • A marriage celebration formally begins when a male arrives at a young womans home and petitions her father or eldest male relative for her hand in marriage. The father or eldest male then asks the woman whether she is willing to go and share in the mans home, but this is normally only a formality.
  • Wedding plans are then made, with the mothers of the groom and bride taking equal charge of the plans.
  • Brides wear white togas with blue silk lining on the day of their wedding. For spring weddings, brides will wear crowns of flowers, for summer weddings she wears a crown of purple ribbons, for fall weddings she wears a crown of red leaves and for winter weddings she wears a crown of white and blue ribbons.
  • Grooms wear white togas with insignia, if they have an important social rank. Grooms also wear a crown of laurel leaves. If of normal social rank, a male will wear a sash of green in the spring, yellow in the summer, orange in the fall and white in the winter. If of royalty, the male will wear a purple sash regardless of season.
  • The wedding party and guests gather in the temple/church on the day of the wedding. During this time, the bride is still in her fathers custody and is hidden from view. The groom arrives on horse back with his best man and other groomsmen, they dismount and enter the temple. The groom then presents a symbol of his youth, possibly a toy, to his mother and is given a shield and sword by his father. This symbolizes that the man is now free from his fathers house and no longer considered a child in the eyes of his family.
  • The priest presides over the ceremony, makes several readings from the texts of the families choosing and then asks for the presentation of the bride to the groom. The bride is presented, she offers the man a rose, which is symbolic of her womanhood; if he accepts, he presents to her bracelet, symbolic of her pledge to protect and love her. The priest then lightly binds their hands with a ribbon of red, asks then to speak their vows. It's also customary to exchange rings at this point in the celebration.
  • Wedding vows are always unique to their groom and bride, often consisting of their promises to each other. Some families have customary segments to be added to the vows.
  • The priest then blesses the bride and groom with oil and allows them to kiss, which is the formal sealing of the marriage.
  • Weddings occur nearing midnight, in such a way that the bridegroom and bride kiss directly at midnight. The reception begins the following day after a nights rest, giving the couple a chance to consummate their marriage.
  • The reception takes place over five days:
    • The first day celebrates the consummation of the marriage; traditional dishes include rice dishes and fruits, as well as dove, sweet breads and olives.
    • The second day is usually dedicated to the childhoods of the bride and groom, their parents will often retell stories of their youth; sometimes retelling embarrassing moments in their life. Dried fruits and nuts are popular at this celebration; the main meal usually consists of breads and lamb.
    • The third day is traditionally dedicated to the god/gods of their choice and often consists of religious ceremonies and sacrifices. This celebration is limited to the most immediate of family. During this celebration, the bride and groom will engage in hieros gamos. No meal is served on this day, members of the party are expected to fast.
    • The fourth day is dedicated to prosperity and abundance. A wide variety of food is served this day, allowing the party to break their fast. It is on this day that the bride and groom will receive and give gifts.
    • The fifth day consists of a celebration of the future. Guests will take turns giving their well wishes for the couple. This day's main meal will often consist of poultry, fish and seasonal fruits and vegetables. The bride and groom are then finally escorted by their guests to their household, where the groom carries the bride into the house.
  • While guests often provide gifts to the married couple, it is also customary for the couple to provide gifts to the guests. These gifts can be generic or specially selected for each individual guest.

Social Ranks in the United Roman Empire

Noble Families
Society in the United Roman Empire is dominated by the elite members of the noble families. These aristocrats, princes, dukes and other nobles are some of the richest members of society additionally the often dominate political offices and govern territories. Marriage into these families is possible, but outsiders are never truly considered full members of the families, though their legitimate children may be. In the past noble families have fallen and other worthy patrician families have been elevated due to merit and loyalty to the crown. Current noble families are the House of Serii, House of Viritii, House of Valorii, House of Tellii, House of Militii, House of Aestii, House of Ventii and the House of Sanguii.

Patrician Families
The noble families are essentially the most prestigious patrician families. Other patrician families do exist in the United Roman Empire, though they usually do not hold nearly the same amount of political and economic power as their fellows. It's rare for a patrician to marry anyone aside from a fellow patrician, but it's not unheard of, in fact it's sometimes encouraged if a plebian proves themselves worthy of such an honor.

Plebian Families
Plebeians are free citizens of the United Roman Empire. They have served their time in one of the service branches and have proved themselves worthy of citizenship. They are permitted the right to vote and hold office. While the nobles and patricians hold many positions in government, the plebeians have the strongest single voting bloc and thus are a powerful political force. Senate tribunes are always elected from the plebian rank and hold considerable power in their respected legislative houses.

Free Civilians
Civilians who have either not come of age or have chosen not to volunteer for one of the service branches and thus complete a term of service and earn their citizenship are found in this group of society. Politically powerless, most of the poorer members of society can be found in this social group, though not always. Despite having little political power, members of this social group are still permitted full economic rights to trade and engage in commerce. This group does have rights under the law but are often looked down upon or even abused by other members of society.

Foreigners
Not technically part of society, visitors from other nations are provided essentially the same rights as free civilians. Permitted to trade and live in the United Roman Empire so long as their paperwork allows residence, these persons are not permitted citizenship or allowed to serve in a service branch unless they naturalize and swear an oath of fealty and loyalty.

The metal plates can be removed and replaced similar to regular ceramic, but are able to sustain high impact velocities. The main goal behind the development of this armor was survivability, so all sections of the body are protected via a combination of high impact fibers and metallic armor plates. The imperial government placed an order for fifty million units, for both the army and praetorian guard; as of June of 2009 all infantry soldiers have been issued this type of armor. Rated for all pistol and shotgun calibers as well as rifle calibers such as 7.62mm NATO, 6.8mm, 5.56mm NATO and 30'06.

Postby Itinerate Tree Dweller » Sat Apr 02, 2011 10:01 pm

Navy of the United Roman Empire

The Navy of the United Roman Empire is the center of force projection across the open seas for the empire. It contains a large variety of advanced, modern warships and is designed to function in conjunction with the other branches in that it is used to move vast amounts of material, troops and vehicles. The navy traces its origins back to the Roman navy, which was normally used for troop transport and periodic sea battles.

United Roman Empire: Imperial Space Command

Postby Itinerate Tree Dweller » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:05 pm

Space Command of the United Roman Empire

Under construction...

Aeolus Satellite Defense System
"Monitoring The Four Winds"

Aeolus master and slave mass driver satellite. Each slave mass driver holds a dozen Bellona class mass rods, each is one foot wide and twenty feet long and reaches its target using a shielded guidance system.

Between rearming (after a slave mass driver is spent) the slave section attaches to the master section and goes into hibernation mode to conserve power (or it waits for an appropriate moment to leave orbit and return to Earth in cases in which it requires repair or is damaged beyond repair); the master section can act as a military or civilian communication satellite and has orbital imagining capacity.

The program departments are based on geographic regions over which each satellite is launched. Aquilo denotes satellites launched over the Mediterranean. Favonius denotes those launched over North America. Auster denotes those launched over Africa. Vulturnus denotes those launched over South America. Argestes denotes those launched over Northern Europe. Thrascius denotes those launched over Near Asia. Libonotus denotes those launched over Far Asia. Skiron denotes those launched over the Pacific Region.

United Roman Empire: Imperial Government

Postby Itinerate Tree Dweller » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:11 pm

Government of the United Roman Empire

Kingdom Organization

King
While only the Emperor of the United Roman Empire acts as ruling sovereign over the whole of the empire, each kingdom of the Imperium Romanum is governed by a high ranking member of the aristocracy who is addressed as king (or queen if female) and has sovereign control of their respective kingdom, save for the powers owned by the imperial throne alone. The only exception to this is the Kingdom of Jerusalem, which is governed by the Crown Prince, who is regent of this kingdom but is not a king in his own right.

High Council
The High Council of any given kingdom consists of regent of a kingdom and his closest male relatives as well as the heads of any minor noble families in a kingdom. These positions are hereditary and cannot be revoked except in cases of urgent need.

High Assembly
The High Assembly of any given kingdom is a bicameral legislative body consisting of a Chamber of Representatives, the members of which are elected by direct vote of the citizenry and a Chamber of Lords, the members of which hold hereditary seats. Members of the High Council cannot hold positions in the Chamber of Lords, so this body usually consists of minor lords. There is one representative in the Chamber of Representatives for every three million persons residing in a kingdom.

High Judiciary
The High Court of Justice is the supreme court of law within the bounds of a kingdom, it consists of seven justices who are appointed by the regent and approved by the High General Assembly. No member of the aristocracy may have a seat in the High Judiciary.

Commonwealth Organization

Regional Governor General
A Regional Governor General is an appointed person, equal in rank but not prestige to a King as Regional Governor Generals are charged with maintaining order and rule of law within the bounds of a commonwealth territory. A regional governor general is commander and chief of a commonwealth territories' commonwealth militia and is bound by law and oath to defend and protect the sovereignty and people of the commonwealth that he governs. This person chairs the Regional Board of Governors, which consists of himself and the governor of each province in the commonwealth. This position is reappointed (or reapproved) every five years, unless otherwise needed.

Regional Board of Governors
A Regional Board of Governors is the executive council of any given commonwealth. It consists of the Regional Governor General and the governors of each province in a commonwealth. Both the governors and Regional Governor General are appointed by the throne and approved by the Imperial Senate. Governors are reappointed (or reapproved) every five years, unless otherwise needed.

Commonwealth General Assembly
The Commonwealth General Assembly of any given realm is a bicameral legislative body consisting of a Chamber of Representatives, the members of which are elected by direct vote of the citizenry and a Chamber of Councillors, the members of which are appointed by their respective Governor General and approved by the local provincial legislature. There is one provincial representative in the Chamber of Representatives for every three million persons residing in a province. The number of provincial councillors is the sum of the number of Imperial House of Commons representatives and the number of House of Appointees representatives that a province possesses, for this reason the minimum number of councillors a province may possess is five.

Commonwealth Judiciary
The Commonwealth Court of Justice is the supreme court of law within the bounds of a commonwealth, it consists of seven justices who are appointed by the Regional Governor General and approved by the Commonwealth General Assembly.

Each province is permitted to form a provincial court of justice, the members of which are appointed by the provincial governor and approved by the provincial legislatures.

United Roman Empire: Imperial Senate

Postby Itinerate Tree Dweller » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:25 pm

Imperial Senate of the United Roman Empire

The Imperial Senate is the bicameral legislative body of the United Roman Empire. The senate meets in the Curia Seria, which was built in Rome upon the ruins of the Curia Julia when it burned to the ground in 152 A.D. According to Section IV of the Constitution of the United Roman Empire, the senate consists of the Prime Minister, the House of Commons and the House of Delegates, both of which have separate and unique powers within the legislature. Although the senate retains nominal control over most legislative power within the bounds of the empire, all legislation must be signed into law by the sovereign who also has the power to veto such legislation that does not meet he approval.

As of the 2010 census, the House of Commons has 600 members and the House of Delegates has 472 members.

Composition of the Imperial Senate

The Prime Minister
The Prime Minster is the nominal head of government in the United Roman Empire and sole member of the senate that may vote in both houses. The role of prime minister evolved from the role of co-consul and was reformed in 1655 with the reformation of the senate under Emperor Titus. The prime minister controls the day to day operation of the government, is authorized to select members of the the senate for positions in his cabinet and is a member of the Emperor's Privy Council. Unlike most parliamentary governments, the prime minister in the United Roman Empire is not elected but is instead appointed by the emperor and thus is usually an important patrician or noble. Only a member of the nobility or patrician class may serve as Prime Minister. The current prime minister is HIH Prince Tiberius Serius Primulus, brother of HIM Emperor Regulus Serius Sirius.

The prime minister resides in a city of Rome, one of the capital cities of the United Roman Empire and location of the Curia Seria, the primary legislative building.

The House of Commons
Image
Image
The House of Commons is the democratically elected component of the senate. Each member represents a electoral region and is elected every four years through a simple plurality voting system. With its members elected directly by the populace, this house remains the sole section of power that regular citizens hold in the government. The House of Commons can levy taxes and remains the only government venue where private citizens can address the government. The Constitution fixes the limit on how many seats may be in the House of Commons at 800, but the house currently is composed of 600 members. Electoral regions are determined every decade via a census. Senators in the House of Commons must be at least 30 years of age, must be a citizen in good standing, and must be elected by his district in a free and legal election. The House of Commons is presided over by the Prime Minister who maintains the legal office of Consul and a Tribune, both of which are first endorsed by the emperor and then approved by the body. The Consul presides over debate and chooses who may speak, assisting him is the Tribune, who is usually a plebeian politician who is being groomed for higher office. Two other officers of the house include the Praetor and Censor, both who assist the Consul and Tribune. The Deputy Prime Minister may act as a proxy for the Prime Minister who spends his time overseeing the various functions of government.

The House of Delegates
Image
Image
The House of Delegates consists of those representatives appointed by regional Governor-Generals, and is charged with maintaining trade and commerce between the various territories. All territorial disputes between regions are settled on the floor of the House of Delegates. While members are appointed by Governor-Generals, certain restrictions are placed on the pool of eligible appointees. Governor-Generals must select an appointee who is a member of the dominant political party in that region, the appointee must be at least 30 years of age and must be a citizen in good standing. Each Governor-General may appoint four total appointees. The House of Delegates is presided over by a President and a Vice President, both of which are first endorsed by the Prime Minister and then approved by the body. The President presides over debate and chooses who may speak, assisting him is the Vice President. Two other officers of the house include the Master at Arms and Secretary, both who assist the President and Vice President. The Vice President may act as a proxy for the President when they are not available.

Common Rules of the Imperial Senate
  1. One man, one vote; only the Prime Minister may have a vote in each house.
  2. A two-third vote must be attained in order to break a filibuster.
  3. No weapons of any sort are permitted into any house of the senate. Senators caught with a weapon will be disarmed and escorted to a holding cell until the prime minister permits him to return to the senate floor.
  4. During a session on the senate floor, no fellow senator may interrupt a fellow senator’s speech.
  5. A senator may only miss ten (10) sessions during a year. Exceeding ten missed sessions may result in a cr5,000 fine and/or forfeiting of their seat.
  6. Violent behavior by a senator is not acceptable and may result in a cr5,000 fine and/or the forfeiting of their seat.
  7. All laws regarding civilian behavior are in effect during regular senate sessions.
  8. All members of the Imperial Senate must take the following oath:
"I, name, do solemnly swear that I will protect the Imperium, its people and laws against all enemies, both foreign and domestic; that I will be loyal and true to the people and laws of the Imperium; that I take this oath and duty freely and without being coerced or forced, without and reservations or purposes of evasion and that I will faithfully perform all duties associated with this office. So help me God(s)."
  9. At any time a member of the Imperial Senate may give up his seat, at which point a new senator must be appointed. The method for this new appointment depends on the house in which the seat is located.
  10. Only members of the House of Commons must adhere to the wills of their respected party whips, all other members of the Imperial Senate are free vote as they please.

Political Parties in the United Roman Empire

Imperial Party

Image

Motto: Pax Romana
Economic ideology: Center
Social ideology: Center
Party leader: Nicholas Savant

The Imperial Party originated out of the politically loyal patricians and citizens in Ancient Rome, it was later reformed under Emperor Titus. The Imperial Party claims to be the most loyal party to the crown and generally supports the opinions and policies of the monarchy. This party has held continuous control of the Senate since its formation and dominates the government cabinet.

With recent elections, the dominance of the Imperial Party has slipped somewhat. Though they continue to control the government, they have had to negotiate with other parties into forming a semi-coalition government with some of the more loyal parties in the Senate.

Traditional Centrist Party

Image

Motto: The Middle Way
Economic ideology: Center
Social ideology: Center
Party leader: Dewey Eliza

Very similar to the Imperial Party politically, the Traditional Centrist Party was formed in 1901 C.E. but until recently, never received enough votes to attain seats in the Senate. Surprisingly, the Traditional Centrist Party has performed very well in recent elections, securing a firm spot as the official loyal opposition party as of the 2010 Senate Election and wrestling control of the House of Delegates away from the Imperial Party through a coalition with the Progressive Party.

Progressive Party

Image

Motto: A New Way
Economic ideology: Far to Center Left
Social ideology: Left
Party leader: Leland Enderly

One of the newer parties, the Progressive Party has been criticized for its liberal attitude in economics. In a surprising move, this party, along side the Traditional Centrist Party formed the loyal opposition. This party is a major up and comer.

Morality Coalition

Image

Motto: Stronger Family, Stronger Nation
Economic ideology: Far Right
Social ideology: Far Right
Party leader: Abel Painter

The Morality Coalition is technically four parties that have recently joined; the Alliance for a Better Tomorrow, the Community Advancement Party, the Christian Union Party and the High Morals Party. They are far right and have been accused of being fascist in nature.

Conservative Party

Image

Motto: By the grace of God
Economic ideology: Center Right
Social ideology: Center Right
Party leader: Robert Forester

The Conservative Party follows a centrist but very nationalistic political dogma, often focusing on a need for tighter immigration control nd an increase in spending to private corporations instead of law and order. This party is rather recent, having formed in the 1940's when the rise of fascism became fashionable and desirable in light of the spread of communism. The Conservative Party was partly responsible for the admirable resistance provided to all communist influences, especially in the media and culture. They were the first to recommend the invasion of Israel that took place in 1972.

Recently, with the dissolution of the Legionnaire Party, former LP members have found their places amonst the ranks of the Conservative Party along with the Libertarian Conservative Party.

Labour Party

Image

Motto: A Fair Future
Economic ideology: Center Left
Social ideology: Center Left
Party leader: Emmanuel Hill

The Labour Party is the national party associated with Socialist International; it supports the cause of workers and the creation of more rogressive social programs. While they don't possess many seats, a number of successful pieces of legislation have originated in this party.

Libertarian Conservative Party

Image

Motto: Freedom Through Deeds
Economic ideology: Center Right
Social ideology: Center Left
Party leader: Kirby Highlands

The Libertarian Conservative Party is a recent development and was formed during a fallout in the membership of the Conservative Party and Imperial Party. This party has economically conservative and socially liberal attitude.

Recently, with the dissolution of the Legionnaire Party, former LP members have found their places amonst the ranks of the Conservative Party along with the Libertarian Conservative Party.

Intellectual Freedom Party

Image

Motto: Free Your Mind, Free Yourself
Economic ideology: Center
Social ideology: Far Left
Party leader: Nigel Porter

The Intellectual Freedom Party is the national party that focuses on intellectual freedom and issues relating to illegal file sharing, which they claim to be "information sharing."

Cannibas Party

Image

Motto: A Greener World
Economic ideology: Right
Social ideology: Left
Party leader: Emmitt Cattley

The Cannabis Party supports the abolition of drug laws and the creation of more treatment oriented programs for drug offenders and addicts. Segments of the party also support green living and alternative sources of energy.

National Alliance

Image

Motto: A Strong Tomorrow
Economic ideology: Right
Social ideology: Right
Party leader: Alexander Walker

Not quite as extreme as the Morality Coalition, the National Alliance is a fairly right-wing party and tends to be a relatively minor party in Senate politics. The National Alliance recently absorbed the members of the former New Right Party.

United Roman Empire: Imperial Judiciary System

Postby Itinerate Tree Dweller » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:30 pm

Judiciary of the United Roman Empire

The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of the United Roman Empire consists of ten Judges, all of whom are appointed by the Emperor every decade. Each Judge is given a term of one year as Supreme Court Chief Justice. During this time as Chief Justice, the Judge has the ability to overrule fellow Judges and may have one extra vote, but only in cases of a tie vote.

If a Judge were to die in their term, the Emperor may appoint a Judge from one of the lower courts to take their place, but this judge is not eligible for a term as Chief Justice. If a deceased Judge's term as Chief Justice approaches, the remaining Judges vote on which of the remaining eligible Judges will sit in as the Chief Justice. No Judge may serve more than two years in a row as Chief Justice.

Current Supreme Court
  • James Lupus - Chief Justice
  • Percy Causey - Deputy Chief Justice
  • Lance Tevis - First Ward Justice
  • Allen Ward - Second Ward Justice
  • Leo Howard - Justice
  • Derick Vosii - Justice
  • Jason Pullo - Justice
  • Nicolas Reed - Justice
  • John Clay - Justice
  • Edward Hewes - Justice

The Court of Justice

In cases of capital crimes, a jury of randomly selected but carefully screened private citizens tries an individual or group in an open and public court.

The Court of Disputes

In cases of private disputes involving property, fiscal disputes and personal injury, this court is employed. Citizens present their claims to a Judge or Jury and receive their ruling from the same source. Juries are only appointed at the request of the plaintiff or defendant, but both must agree to a jury trial.

The Court of Military Justice

This court is employed in cases of military misconduct and is thus overseen by the Imperial Security Council and the Emperor's Praetorian Guard. Trials in this court are not public and are considered classified unless otherwise noted.

The Holy See
Within the boundaries of the United Roman Empire's capital city of Rome exists the sovereign territory and independent nation of the Holy See, commonly known as Vatican City. A treaty exists between the Holy See and the United Roman Empire regarding provisions for the maintenance, vital services and transportation needs of the Holy See; the Holy See is required to provide its own security force and policing.

The Holy See is not considered a territory of the United Roman Empire and is not permitted to vote in its Senate elections. It is, however, traditional for sitting Popes to crown Roman Emperors during their coronation.

An Emperor (f. Empress) is the absolute sovereign over the breadth of the entire empire. The latin versions of this rank are m. Imperator and f. Imperatrix.

Formal Address: Imperial Majesty

King

A King (f. Queen) is the ruler of a large section of the empire, usually commanding several princedoms. Viceroy is a much more common title than King. Governor Generals often hold the official rank of Viceroy or Vicereine. The latin versions of this rank are m. Rex and f. Regina.

Formal Address: Royal Highness

Prince

An individual holding the rank of Prince (f. Princess) is technically above that of a Viceroy but below that of a King. Imperial Princes are not included in, as they are immediate family of the Emperor. Princedoms are usually smaller land entitlements that that of a Viceroy, but one such exception is that of the Prince of Greater Palestine, a position legally held only by the eldest male of the immediate family of the Emperor. The latin versions of this rank are m. Princeps and f. Principissa.

Formal Address: Royal Highness

Grand Duke

Grand Dukes (f. Grand Duchess) are usually senior royal officials and can be found in many offices throughout the imperial government. The majority of Imperial Senate members are Dukes. Grand Duke is just one form of Duke. The latin versions of this rank are m. Magnus Dux and f. Magna Ducissa.

Formal Address: The Rt Hon. Grand Duke or Grand Duchess

Archduke

Archdukes (f. Archduchess) are usually senior royal officials and can be found in many offices throughout the imperial government. The majority of Imperial Senate members are Dukes. Archduke is just one form of Duke. The latin versions of this rank are m. Archidux and f. Archiducissa.

Formal Address: The Rt Hon. Archduke or Archduchess

Elector

Elector is a non-hereditary and non-royal rank, this rank is given to members of the Emperor's Privy Council only. There are no latin version of this rank.
Formal Address: The Rt Hon. Elector

Duke

Dukes (f. Duchess) are usually senior royal officials and can be found in many offices throughout the imperial government. The majority of Imperial Senate members are Dukes. Duke is just one form of Duke. The latin versions of this rank are m. Dux and f. Ducissa.

Formal Address: The Rt Hon. Duke or Duchess

Count

Counts (f. Countess) are titles usually reserved for the sons of Dukes and Archdukes. The latin versions of this rank are m. Comes and f. Comitissa.

Formal Address: The Rt Hon. Count or Countess

Visecount

Visecount or Earl is the highest title a commoner can attain, this rank is usually held by local politicians (such as mayors) and landholders who operate on local scales (such as farmers.) Land holding Visecounts/Earls must pay feudal dues to the crown. The latin versions of this rank are m. Vicecomes.

Formal Address: The Rt Hon. Visecount (or Earl) or The Rt Hon. Visecountess (or Lady)

Marquess

Marquess (f. Marchioness) are usually high ranking commoners who hold little political power but are financially well off. A common belief is that this is a 'purchased' rank. The latin versions of this rank are m. Marchio and f. Marchionissa.

Formal Address: The Rt Hon. Marquess or Marchioness

Baron

Barons (f. Baroness) are knights or dames who have proven themselves quite loyal to the crown and thus given further authority. Rich businessmen/women are often found in this rank, as well as the Visecount and Earl ranks. The only difference between a Visecount and Baron is the requirement of land and feudal dues. The latin versions of this rank are m. Baro and f. Baronissa.

Formal Address: The Rt Hon. Baron or Baroness

Knight

A Knight (f. Dame) may hold territory, but not to the extent of higher ranked individuals. Knightdom is usually a honorary bestowment, a gift or reward for service rendered to the crown. Knightdom is by no means a military rank and does not affect the rank of any person in the imperial armed forces. The latin versions of this rank are m. Eques.

Formal Address: Sir or Lady
