The Amistad Declaration on Slavery and the Rights of Man

We, the states and alliances undersigned, declare hereafter our allegiance the following principles:

1. Chattel slavery is among the highest crimes that exist. We, the undersigned states and alliances, refuse to recognize the general protection granted by national sovereignty or customary international law to slaver regimes. Slavery is a crime.

2. Slavery is a crime, and therefore it must be punished. We, the undersigned, hereby declare war on those states that practice chattel slavery in all its forms.

3. Slavery is a crime not only of the individual, but often also of the society that allows it to persist. In those societies where chattel slavery is practiced on a regular basis, there exists the rare case of a collective, societal guilt. We will declare total, unbridled war against the slavers. We will spare no means, no weapon, no tactic we find appropriate to the advancement of our just cause.

4. Each of the undersigned states will practice warfare by its own design and within the capacity of its armed forces, with the sole objective to strike the slavers with all our might.

5. All signatories should take the utmost effort throughout this conflict to not merely kill slavers, but to also damage the slaver economies, through the destruction of infrastructure, farmland, and property.

6. Finally, we must remember that the goal of this conflict is, in the long run, to secure freedom to slaves. As such, all signatories will take an effort to liberate as many slaves as possible through armed force, and deliver them to safety. Separate agreements will be negotiated separately to assist the liberated slaves after their rescue.

7. Should a neutral nation, not otherwise linked to the present conflict, attack or blockade a signatory for participating it, the signatories of the declaration will defend that nation from such incursion.
