You know that pyramid with an eye you see on one of the dollar bills? I was searching it up. Its known as the 'all seeing eye' or the 'eye of providence'. And I was wondering. What is it for? Why was it included?
It is on the freemasons iconography.
In Egypt, there was an 'eye of horus' the god of the sky.
In Medieval times it was used in iconography.

In all seriousness, it's a Masonic symbol. Quite a few of the founding fathers were Masons. There were loads of Masons in the early American government, because being one was the "in" thing for wealthy men at the time. As for why the symbol was added, well, members of secret societies tend to advertise their membership of said secret society as often and as blatantly as possible.

Because someone had to post about a link to the meaning of the great seal, which had a link about CharlesThompson, who had Scots-Irish parents and was born in Maghera Parish, which linked to Londonderry County.
