Well, I finished Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson yesterday, really good historical fiction read by the way, and The Teacher's Funeral by Richard Peck today. I have a Reading Olympics competition coming up in April and I'm trying to read as many of the books on the list as I can, so now I'm crankin' em out.

The Emperor's New Mind, by Roger Penrose. This is heavy-duty stuff. Basically it's an argument against the possibility of artificial consciousness (I think)...but to get there he covers just about every major scientific topic of the time: Cantor's set theory, the Diagonal Process, the Continuum Hypothesis, Turing machines, the Halting Problem, the Turing Test, real numbers, complex numbers, the Mandelbrot set, Hilbert's program, the Foundational Quest, Gödel's theorem, Russell's Paradox...and that's just the first few chapters!! That's before he even gets into quantum physics, and a whole raft of other stuff. I started reading it some years ago and, not surprisingly, got bogged down! The book is practically an education in itself, but it's not (so far) too hard to follow.
