We find that though The Cat-Tribe is a strong debater, they have fallen into insulting those that do not agree with them. A strong example of this was on the "On Abortion" bill. We do offer the fact that The Cat-Tribe is a strong debater, however we cannot approve of this since they have insulted fellow ambassador's. We bid you good day and good luck.

Well isn't that interesting. I remember TCT telling me that I 'seem to misunderstand the nature of free expression. In the marketplace of ideas, you can say what you want. I can say what I want to criticize or disagree with what you've said. In doing so, I have not oppressed you. Our expressions compete on their merits, not out of some preset entitlement.' [1]Oh the bourgeois explanation here. Having said that and despite our ideological differences, I will be voting for this commendation of TCT as I believe TCT does have a 'preset entitlement' to insult, however foolish the insult may be. If the insult is particularly foolish, this gives others the opportunity to ruthlessly expose the foolishishness and criticise them. Although I must say Jedi8246, you would be wise to find evidence of TCT's insults, personally I have not been insulted by TCT, only annoyingly partronised. This is the same TCT who is willing to concede annoying liberal snobbishness,[2] but as I've said before, people have a right to be annoying as well. The reason I support this commendation is because regardless of what anyone thinks of the TCT, he is a great debater and probably has some understanding of the class struggle having come from humble beginnings. Finally, I take TCT's non-philistine approach to the abortion question(including defending the mentally ill) as evidence of reasonably good political consciousness, however flawed I consider The Cat-Tribe's liberal politics to be.

I suspect you are correct, I doubt evidence of insults is not forthcoming. The only thing they can accuse TCT of is being patronising and pompous, but these are mere character flaws not a justification against TCT's debating skills.

Although the Cat-Tribe's actions are certainly a paragon for debate and decorum, one that all NSers should look up to, I fail to see how this passes the "person behind the nation" test. I understand that not all WA members RP themselves as Ambassadors of nations, but this proposal does not commend any action of a nation, but rather of the person behind it. Although the proposal never refers to the Cat-Tribe as a person, neither does it as a nation. I myself am confused on whether to support or reject.

You should know that I was a big advocate for the repeal of Rule IV, it didn't happen, but the mods assured us that we'd be able to write a resolution for a generalite in a way that equivocated and did not refer to either the player or the nation explicitly. I took them up on that offer, and a month and a half or so of legality checks later, "Commend The Cat-Tribe", was the product.

Debates are not a sport, they're politics, and they can gravely affect many peoples lives. Perhaps it is you who needs to learn the gravity of the WA's debates and decisions, before you treat our comments as trivialities that should adhere to some sort of code of 'sportsmanship'. I think I've provide you amble evidence to show the professionalism of The Cat-Tribe in his debates.

Alas, I have to claim it went without notice from me either. The mere contrast between people we approved and people we disprove of, is a contrast, not necessarily condemnation/commendation. See "Condemn Greater Tez" for an example of the inverse circumstance, where people we approved of are given recognition during a condemnation of someone else.
