Gay or Atheist

Which do think faces more trouble in your particular corner of the world? Is it harder to be gay or an atheist? Even though they claim that atheists are the most mistrusted minority, I don't think that it's too hard to be an atheist. I think that most of the problem with atheism is the stigma attached to the word itself. If you say "I don't believe in god." you will tend, in my experience (which obviously doesn't constitute proof), to get a better reaction than if you say "I'm an atheist." I'm not gay, so I don't know how you guys have it.

P.S. Probably the transgenders have it worse than either group, but they aren't part of this discussion. (Discrimination! ) Actually they aren't because I want a legitimate comparison. It seems too obvious what the answer would be if transgenders were an option.

Of course, around uber fundies, you will get a bad reaction regardless of whether you say you're an atheist or you say you don't believe in god, but I was talking about around ordinary people.

Atheists definitely have it easier. After all, atheism is a choice, so atheists can just convert to christianity or islam or whatever the dominant religion in their area is in order to gain acceptance.

Well, technically, they are. If they didn't want to be abused by large, ugly, smelly humans, they wouldn't smell and look so nice to them, but instead disguise their scent and appearance so people are no longer interested in them. Q.E.D.

Homosexuals/Lesbians do... which I find absurd... Even within a traditional christian framework one sin should be treated no different than another... But these types have "pet sins" which they like to pander upon, and denounce...
