We are against this proposal.

OOC: I'm awfully sorry, but I don't think it is enough to archieve a commendation. Quote of the Day surely is a nice and active nation... but no, I'm sorry.

I do not think that this is something worthy of a commendation.... if this passes, then it shows that pretty much anything is worthy of a commendation.... please vote against this proposal.

The Federation is against this proposal as we have witnessed an action from The Quote Of The Day that contradicts aspects of this commendation proposal. A few weeks ago, The Quote Of The Day refused to visit NAZI EUROPE when it was the featured region. This exception, based on prejudice, violates the first and second part of this commendation proposal.

Although we do not think or look down upon the nation for their decision, as the Federation tolerates and respects the opinions of others, we cannot approve of a proposal that we knows holds false information.

Oh, it's not just Nazi Europe. The nation skips other regions as well. From its own happenings:
# 23 hours ago: The Quote Of The Day relocated from The Walbard Union to 42 Douglas Adams.
# 3 days, 1 hour ago: The Quote Of The Day lodged a message at The Walbard Union Civil Headquarters.

See the gap in time? That's at least one day which was skipped. So the nation surely doesn't visit every region. Not that it has to, but the Commendation falsely claims the nation does.

And, frankly, even if it did I honestly still wouldn't regard it a feat worthy of Commendation.

A few of its last messages:
Hello all! Congratulations for being today's featured region!

"Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it." - Jane Wagner

Hello there! Congratulations for being featured!

"The trouble with being poor is that it takes up all of your time." - Willem de Kooning

Hello there, congratulations for being featured!

"There are only two kinds of people who are really fascinating: people who know absolutely everything, and people who know absolutely nothing." - Oscar Wilde

I'd second that, congratulations to you for being today's featured region!

"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents." - H. P. Lovecraft

So... a standard message of congratulations with a notable quote copy/pasted to it.
Oh, and from what I can tell, the quotes are copy/pasted from: http://www.quotationspage.com/qotd.html
Each day they seem to match one of the four quotes on their front page.

Personally I would have like to have seen the Featured Region Followers commended.

Against. This is not worthy of a commendation. It is not a feat that's very hard to accomplish as a nation, nor is it extraordinary. Besides as was pointed out, the nation skips regions, making it even less laudable. The commendation has false statements in it, surely the SC does not want to pass blatant lies?

I would second that one. The Featured Region Followers do seem to hold an unbiased look on regions as we, NE, were visited by a few of their members despite our conversational outlook. A region that can look past the nature of a region, bring good spirits and treat all regions equals deserve some recognition.

Random, basic nation gets commended? I would rather have voted for Tiago Silva, and I was strongly against that. Quote of the Day didn't even really do anything.

Even featured region followers would be a strech, I wouldn't be against it passing, but I wouldn't be for it either.

I voted against as well. Featured Region Followers does the same thing, and I'd rather commend the whole region rather than just one person who does this.

Someone throws an empty mop bucket into the middle of the discussion. Taped to the mop bucket is a note bearing, of all things, a quotation.

"Whence it is somewhat strange that any men from so mean and silly a practice should expect commendation, or that any should afford regard thereto; the which it is so far from meriting, that indeed contempt and abhorrence are due to it."

Depending on where you stand opinion-wise, that was when Rule 4 was implemented or when the first "Player behind the Nation" commendation was made.

So... not really.

Voted for.

Humans, as with just about anything in life, are subject to error or inaccuracy. If everyone expects perfection then nothing will ever get done. The nation in question gave sufficient effort and time into this good-spirited gesture as to earn or better yet deserve a commendation.

Besides, a little prestige here and there never did anyone harm. ;D

The proposal repeatedly refers to The Quote of the Day by the nation's full -subject to change- title.

Example:

IDENTIFIES that the nation The Daily Congratulations of The Quote Of The Day

Would the act still be valid if the nation were to change it's full title?

The Ractafarian embassy also questions the commendability, if you will, of the nation's actions.

On these grounds, we are obliged to vote against.
