Another season has come and gone for the Taeshan Soccer Federation Soccer League, and it looks like it is the end of an era. After 12 great seasons Fadron Pizza has ended its sponsorship of the league. Now with a lack of funding the League has had to look for a new sponosr. Internationall it seems that not a single company wants to sponsor what is considered one of the weakest leagues in the world. Considering the Atlantea Hurricanes have won 9 of the 12 Tournaments, and most of the other teams have stayed at their positions for most of the years, but it seems that only a league as bad as Taeshan's could get no sponsorship. In a last ditch effort the league has signed a deal with a Kosovoe company E-Lite Grocer Stores and it looks like the league is saved for now.

For the 9th season in a row the League was won by the Atlantea Hurricanes with a record 89 points to win the league. Once again second place went to the Wiechester FC, while once again Bayern finished in a close third. On the bottom side of the league stood 4 teams fighting for their lives, in the end only 2 would stay and 2 would be relegated to the Zuerst Teilung. The four teams were the newly promoted Loachen Yellow Jackets, the Iure Indians, the Calendara Kings and finally the North Taeshan Knights. By the end of the season Loachen had cemented a spot in the top division for at least another year, while the North Taeshan Knights won their game versus the Indians on the final day of the season and would still be in the league. In the end the Indians and the Kings both fell out of the top division.

But who will replace them? At the top of the second division many expected to see formerly relegated Pwux come back to the top division, but they were unable to do so. For much of the season the Laketown Rangers easily controlled the play and the Loudon Lancers made a nice last minute dash to the finals of the Promotion Torunament and defeated the afformentioned Panthers of Pwux. At the bottom of the division the Crashew Campers ended the season with 4 wins and only 12 total points, Al Haxire would win the Zweite Teilung and were promoted to the second division after easily smashing their opponenents.

O-LEAGUE SEASON TWO – PART ONE

As the second O-League season roars off to a start, the question still stands: who can stop Ousevale Borough? With a third Champions' Cup place on offer this season, there's extra incentive for the chasing pack...but who's up? Who's down? We're thirty games away from the answers to these questions.

Matchday One
Ousevale kick off the defence of their title at Walton Gardens, but it's a damp squib as they bludgeon out a goalless draw with Caledon Simpson. Avidia United have similar problems with new boys Hastings, as the three promoted sides all get in among the points. Mercia Bromham, third last season, are the first to top the table this time out after a three-one victory over the Reds.

Matchday Two
Avidia United get things moving as they thump Norton three-nil, but Ousevale can only draw again as their season splutters out of the traps. Mercia fall to Simpson and it's Secklow who take top spot as they beat Emberton Reds by two to none.

Matchday Three
Who'd be a Reds fan? Three games and no points for the season's second favourites for the title means they're rock bottom; Casuals the team benefitting ithis time round. Avidia United beat Ousevale to bring Borough's total points to two from nine, and Secklow and Stanton keep up their 100% records, defeating Simpson and Avidia City respectively.

Matchday Four
So much for the hundred percenters. Stanton draw at Caversham, Secklow go down two-one at home to Hastings County, and in all the confusion, Avidia United top the table having yet to concede a goal. Emberton Reds notch their first points of the season with victory in the Emberton derby, and Ousevale are still searching for their first win after another nil-nil, this time away at Norton.

Matchday Five
Ousevale chalk up their fourth draw, and third nil-nil, at home to Mercia; the sides are thirteenth and twelfth respectively after abysmal starts to the season. Avidia United, meanwhile, continue their march, despite conceding their first goal of the season. They're two points ahead of quick-starting Stanton, and four ahead of an impressively motoring Caversham side.

O-LEAGUE SEASON TWO – PART TWO

Matchday Six
Nil-nil again for the toothless Tigers; Secklow are the culprits this time as reigning champions Ousevale dip into the drop zone. Elsewhere, Stanton draw level on points after beating bottom side Ellisham, and Leston come back from a two-nil half-time deficit to beat Caledon Simpson by three goals to two.

Matchday Seven
At last! Ousevale win their first game of their season...and so do Ellisham! Ousevale spring up to eleventh in the table, whilst Ellisham swap places with the team they beat, Norton, at the foot of the table. United and Stanton both lose for the first time, Stanton five-nil away to Dereapolis City, giving the pack a chance to catch up; Caversham hit six against the Reds, and remain the only undefeated side in the division.

Matchday Eight
The entirety of the Harbour Stadium were pinching themselvcs in unison after today's matches. Stanton's five-two win over Emberton Reds put them a point clear of still-undefeated Caversham, who defeated Caledon. At the other end, Norton lifted themselvcs off the bottom with a win over Secklow, whilst Ousevale lifted themselves to ninth with their sixth draw of the season.

Matchday Nine
It's as you were at the top. Stanton and Caversham both won, whilst the Avidia derby was a rather one-sided affair - United six, City nil the score. Ousevale continue to throw away points, registering their seventh draw of the season, whilst Casuals Osteria beat Secklow to haul themselvcs out of the bottom three, Avidia City taking their place.

Matchday Ten
The old maxim states that to be the best, you have to beat the best. The New World Order in the O-League means that for Caversham, it meant beating the Eagles. So they went and did just that. The victory, coupled with a Stanton defeat at the hands of Hastings, put the Dragons on top of the pile. The top half now includes Ousevale, recording only their second win of the season against Avidia City – and whither Mercia? Defeat to Leston leaves them just a point above the precipice.

O-LEAGUE SEASON TWO – PART THREE

Matchday Eleven
The last unbeaten record of the season finally falls as resurgent Ousevale take down the Dragons in a two-one home victory. The result puts the Tigers up to sixth, and toppling Caversham off the top of the table. Stanton move back to the head of the queue after beating Avidia United; the victory also takes the Eagles out of the top three, where they are replaced by Secklow. Big wins for Mercia Bromham and Emberton Reds get them moving in the right direction at last, whilst Caledon Simpson are surprise tenants of the bottom three after defeat to Dereapolis.

Matchday Twelve
In lieu of anything interesting happening at the top, let's take a look at the bottom three. Avidia City and Caledon Simpson both lost again, which means that Norton's stalemate against Krytenia Emberton is enough to lift the Greens off the botttom. Ellisham's one-nil loss against Avidia United keeps them just a signle point above the danger zone.

Matchday Thirteen
Leaders Stanton Town slip up against Mercia, and that closes everything up. Caversham go top on goal difference after defeating Secklow, with Avidia United only a point behind. Ousevale continue their rehabilitation with a five-nil win over Ellisham, and Simpson's three-one win over Norton lifts them to thirteenth at the Stones' expense.

Matchday Fourteen
Rumours of Ousevale's demise, it would appear, are very premature. A two-nil victory over Dereapolis put them up into fourth place, and with the top three all managing a point each, Borough now find themselvcs just three points off the top. Mercia's win over Ellisham moves them into the top half of the table for the first time in many weeks.

Matchday Fifteen
As the winter break comes upon us, the league table begins to take a familiar turn. OK, so Caversham's win over Krytenia Emberton keeps them top, but it's now Ousevale Borough who are second after they thumped six past Emberton Reds. Avidia United slip to third, with Stanton, Casuals, and Dereapolis in the Globe Cup spots. At the bottom, it's looking bleak already for Norton and Avidia City, whilst Caledon, Hastings, and KE are just about keeping their heads above water.

O-LEAGUE SEASON TWO – PART FOUR

After a four week break, It's time to get back to the fierce battle for league supremacy. Can Caversham hold on? Will Simpson drop? Whither Ousevale? All these questions will be answered...soon enough...

Matchday Sixteen
Stanton Town make the most of Ousevale's hiccough against Caledon Simpson to slip into second place, as Caversham carry on regardless at the top. Victories at the bottom for Ellisham and Avidia City puts more pressure on surprise strugglers Caledon and Krytenia Emberton.

Matchday Seventeen
Caversham increase their lead at the top to five points, as Stanton stutter to a one-all draw with Leston. Ousevale take the opportunity to steal second after putting four past hapless Hastings, who are now just a point above the drop zone in twelfth.

Matchday Eighteen
They're human after all. A surprise defeat at Norton cuts the Dragons' lead at the top to two points, with Ousevale and Stanton both winning to keep the pressure on. Mercia Bromham's revival continues as they leapfrog Avidia United and Casuals into fifth with a win over Hastings, who drop into the bottom three.

Matchday Nineteen
Insanity ruled at Walton Gardens, as the match went from nil-nil to one-one in fifty seconds flat. That was about as good as it got for Caledon though, as visiting Casuals Osteria took the victory with two more first half goals. There's a change at the top, too, as the inevitable happens; Ousevale Borough overtake Caversham on goal difference after the Dragons drew with third-placed Stanton.

Matchday Twenty
Battle is joined at the top! Ousevale and Caversham both only manage draws (against Mercia and Ellisham respectively) and Stanton beat Norton to put the top three on thirty-seven points apiece. Casuals, meanwhile, have quietly slipped into fourth, just three points behind the leaders, and have well and truly exorcised the ghosts of last season. Not so Emberton Reds, who were expected to be major title challengers this year; their win over Leston Town puts them in the heady heights of ninth place.

O-LEAGUE SEASON TWO – PART FIVE

Matchday Twenty-One
Does anyone actually want to win the title? Ousevale drew with Secklow, Caversham lost to Dereapolis, and Stanton were embarrassed by lowly Ellisham...all of which meant Casuals snuck into second place, and fifth-placed Mercia Bromham are only two points off the summit after their win over Norton. Ellisham's win also gives them a useful three-point cushion over the bottom three.

Matchday Twenty-Two
As most of the top five falter again, it's up to Mercia Bromham to haul themselves up to second spot after brushing aside Secklow. They're now level on points with Ousevale Borough, who drew for the twelfth time this season, this time against Casuals Osteria. Bottom-placed Norton were the only team in the drop zone to pick up any points after a two-two deaw with Ellisham; they're still seven points from safety though, and look to be going straight back down.

Matchday Twenty-Three
Simon Garinov got a serious case of goal fever at The Mound, the Secklow striker scoring five of his side's six against an atrociously bad Norton side. It still wasn't enough to get the Hoops into the top half of the table, but it did at least put Garinov through the ten-goal barrier for the season. He's on 11, five behind Caversham's Keith Ballantyne, who bagged a brace against Simpson. Ousevale and Mercia both won, moving themselves and the Dragons clear at the top, whilst Dereapolis are coming into form at just the right time, and move up to fifth place.

Matchday Twenty-Four
Game of the week was definitely at the Isserson, as Krytenia Emberton and Mercia Bromham fought out a seven goal thriller – Sam Miller's goal settling it at four-three just three minutes from time. It was a doubly sweet result for the men from the Nova Mercian capital, as rivals Ousevale dropped two points away at Leston, putting Mercia top of the table. Caversham's draw with Hastings hauled the Stallions out of the drop zone, and allowed Casuals and Dereapolis to catch up in the race for the third Champions' Cup spot.

Matchday Twenty-Five
Norton are all but relegated after defeat against Casuals, a result that sees the Miners move up to third place in the table. Mercia Bromham extend their lead at the top to four points after beating Leston, whilst Ousevale drop the idiot ball in a stalemate with Avidia “Fifteenth” City. Krytenia Emberton's win over Secklow gets them out of the bottom three and ten points off the bottom-placed Greens.

O-LEAGUE SEASON TWO – PART FIVE

Matchday Twenty-Six
Avidia City and Charlie Pratt part company after City's defeat to Mercia Bromham; with the side still four points from safety, they've entrusted the team into Alex Graham, signed at the beginning of the season as defensive coach. It's as you were at both ends of the table, though, as the top three all win, and the bottom three all lose. Elsewhere, Avidia United beat Stanton to leapfrog the Dockers into sixth place and a potential Globe Cup spot.

Matchday Twenty-Seven
Avidia United were on another level against Ellisham, their eight-one victory making history as two players scored hat-tricks in the same game. Freddy Osterwald and Liam George will have to decide amongst themselves who gets the match ball, though. Speaking of other levels, it's guaranteed to be O-League Two for Norton next season. They drew one-all with Krytenia Emberton, leaving them still ten points behing the Pats with three to play. At the top, Mercia drew, and Ousevale and Osteria cut the gap to two points, whilst Avidia United's victory puts them above Caversham in fifth.

Matchday Twenty-Eight
Well, that makes life interesting. Mercia draw, Ousevale and Casuals win, and now we have three sides separated at the top only by goal difference. The Tigers top the tree, and are followed by Casuals; Mercia's poor start to the season meaning their GD isn't all it could be. At the bottom, Avidia City, Krytenia Emberton, and Ellisham all losr, Hastings' draw with Emberton Reds meaning they cut the gap between themselves and safety to just two points.

Matchday Twenty-Nine
Krytenia Emberton have done it again. Two weeks after relegating Norton with a draw against them, they do exactly the same to Avidia City, who'll be playing derbies against CF Avides rather than United next season. At the top, Mercia need just a point from their last match against Dereapolis to seal the title after they beat Ellisham, and Casuals and Borough both lost – Ousevale's being only their second defeat of the season, but those fourteen draws could cost them. Only a victory of rugby proportions keeps Hastings up.

Matchday Thirty
It was all of a damp squib in the end. Ian Betts put Mercia two-nil up inside twenty minutes, and after that it became obvious the Marshall Warzycha Shield would be swathed in navy and white. Casuals secured second with a win over Stanton, and Ousevale shockingly lost out on the Champions' Cup places entirely, as their single point against the Reds was trumped by Avidia United's victory over Simpson. Hastings, in the end, couldn't even get themselves relegated with dignity; captain Stephen Wray sent off as they lost to Norton – only the Greens' third win all season.

KFA Cup Final: Mercia Bromham 2-1 Secklow
Mercia complete the Double as they beat Secklow two-one, guaranteeing Caversham a Globe Cup spot in the process. Ian Betts scores the winner twelve minutes from time after Sam Miller's opener had been cancelled out by Secklow's Kevin Saxon.

Lower Divisions
Stratford Rovers coasted to the O-League Two title, with Aigburth Athletic also promoted back at the first time of asking. Surprisingly, though, it's C.F.F., the club from Monthuez that signs only Francophones, that finished third, ahead of Notegia Rangers. Going down, meanwhile, are Adanac, Kallia, and Locomotive Wolverton.

Season 21

Season 21 saw a change to the format of the AFF Challenge Trophy — it wasn't actually played. The trophy was awarded to the team that led the league after 15 games of the season, and the AFF have announced it is likely to permanently become the mid-season champions' trophy.

Also in season 21, the AFF League Cup was not played for the first time in its current incarnation, as the AFF looks to find a new format to avoid byes for eight clubs. It has been suggested that the AFF League Cup may be renamed the AFF Premier Cup and only be contested between the 16 top-flight teams, although no decision has yet been taken.

We have a new champion! Protectorate Utd regained their crown from Mountbatten Junction — who picked up the AFF Challenge Trophy. At the bottom, Olympique Protectorat were once again relegated.

Liga Panuul, 1774 season

It's still a monopoly, but there are definite signs of life in Liga Panuul as Fortuna Cimnersog turns in the best non-Town performance in the league's seven-year history. It took until week 26 of the 30-week season for the title to be officially awarded to the nation's number one club as they secured a ten-point lead with a game in hand and went on to win the league by fifteen. In addition, the University of Cimnersog tied its own record set in 1772 for highest point total by a last-place team.

Una Serie season 3 kicks off !

Pythons 6 – 1 Salaga F.C
Reigning champions Pythons, run riot as newly promoted Salaga crumble.
The Saint Jonas Stadium fans were treated to an attacking master-class as Pythons hit four in the first half to highlight the former League I champions defensive frailties. Ishmael Van Dyke kicked off the rout with a superb header at the back post, followed 2 minutes later with a great solo run, taking him past three Salaga defenders before rifling into the bottom corner. On 26 minutes midfielder Dean Bowyer hit a speculative attempt which skidded along the pitch before hitting a divot and clearing the Salaga keeper. In first half injury time a short back pass created an opportunity for Tim Wilcox to latch on to. The midfielder rounded the keeper before slotting into an empty net. At half time, Pythons introduced new forward Enrico Dossena to the home fans who was on the score sheet almost instantly. Dean Bowyer slotted through a clever through ball and Dossena lifted the ball over the sprawling Salaga keeper who had come to meet him. 19 year old Fabrizio Pauletta pulled on back for Salaga in the 87th minute, but there was still time for Frederico to add a 6th, when Dossena rounded a defender just to see his shot come back off the post, however Federico was on hand to put away the rebound. After the match Pythons manager Mark Sloan stated

“It’s too early to write off Salaga’s chances of survival. A 6-1 opening day defeat means nothing when there’s another 43 games to go, especially when it’s against the reigning champions.”

Royal Khaldoon 2 – 0 Port Los Renato
Royal kicked off their season under new management with a two nil victory over PLR. New boy Juan Segura demonstrated a one man attacking super show, hitting a stunning 40 yard volley which dipped over PLR keeper Fernando Earroc before adding his second of the game in the 60th minute. Midfielder Adailton found space on the left before feeding Segura a perfect ball, Segura, on the turn lost his marker, flicked the ball in the air then volleyed into the top corner with the foot he was pivoting on. The Sargossan striker was praised last year for his goal scoring ability which earned him a big money move to Royal, a move which already looks to be paying dividends. Port Los Renato coach Alex Rowley was disappointed after the game and concluded that

“The lads must still be in holiday mode, hopefully we can pick ourselves up next week and get three points.”

Skyte City 0 – 0 Valengren Kickers
Last years runners-up were lucky to take a point from the opening game as Valengren had a penalty shout waved away and a goal disallowed for offside. The home team started well, but faded away as Valengren got a grip on the game. As Valengren dominated Sunday Unsworth latched onto a through ball before sliding the ball beyond Skyte keeper Fabien Fabianski. The linesman’s flag was up and the goal was disallowed, however after reviewing the footage it is clear Sunday was onside when he received the ball. Valengren coach Ray Hodgson fumed after the game

“It was clear by a mile the lad was onside, we should have been one nil up before the penalty that never was”

The penalty Mr. Hodgson is referring to came as Skyte defender Mishka Mistrikova bundled the ball away off the line. The ball appeared to strike the defender’s arm, however the referee waved the appeals away, claiming the Somewhereistonian chested the ball. Skyte had one clear chance before the game ended, but Alberto Xisco was unable to control the ball before powering it over Chris Foster’s goal.

Almondvale 4 – 1 Athletic Khaldoon
Adrian Belmont marked his full first team debut with a late goal as Almondvale overpowered Athletic game controlled by Athletic’s inability to defend dead balls. ‘Vale were ahead within the first fifteen minutes as Ulli White headed from a corner, losing his marker before powering beyond Brad Johnson. On 37 minutes Manny le Paglia unnecessarily brought down Seb Guardiola, who took the free kick himself, floating the ball into the back post where it was met by Hamilton Vasquez. Athletic pulled a goal back just before half time as Miguel Caicedo scrambled the ball beyond the Almondvale keeper. Almondvale restored the two goal lead when Ulli White headed a second from a corner, before Adrian Belmont scored on his debut, making space in the box and beating his marker with a stretch which connected with the ball. The ball trickled past Brad Johnson who had come too far and couldn’t get back in time to stop it crossing the line.

Real Minanda 1 – 2 Ridgemont Town
After taking the lead the home team collapsed and gifted Ridgemont three points. The opener came about following a fortunate ricochet off the back of a Ridgemont defender, however Real midfielder Rafael Vega claimed the goal. Real dominated the first half and should have had a second, were it not for Seamus O’Hara’s sublime goal keeping. In the second half Ridgemont rallied and a succession of poor defensive choices allowed them back into the game. A header back to the Minanda goal was pounced upon by Tom Smith who was dragged down in the box. The Candelarian dusted himself off before playing the subsequent penalty straight down the middle. At 1-1 Minanda looked uncomfortable and another poor pass backwards was intercepted only for Smith to scuff this opportunity. However a minute later Minanda’s new keeper Al Weaver played a short ball to Fabio Villa, who kicked out for a throw-in under pressure. The long throw found its way into the box and Luke Weatherall headed home for Ridgemont.

Augustus 3 – 2 Jonastown United
Despite Jonastown’s late rally there always looked destined to lose. Three nil down after an hour, Ricky Ortega shuffled the formation to a 3-5-2 and the change gave Jonastown more attacking options, something which had been missing in the first half. On numerous occasions Hidalgo had made a run down the right wing only to find 1 man in the box and the subsequent cross cleared. Ten minutes from time J-Town got a break through and Carlos Borges wriggled free and shot past the Augustus keeper. On 92 minutes, half an hour plus of pressure paid off and Bobby Williams added another for the visitors. Jonastown manager Ortega commented

“It was a case of a little too late, if we’d have played like that all game I reckon we would have got all three points instead of heading home with nothing.”

[ooc] could I be really cheeky and ask somebody to help me out with a logo for my league, it's the third season and my relationship with photoshop has sunk to an all time low and I just can't seem to do it. If anybody would be willing to take up this challenge just drop me a TG. Thanks :)

Week 6 of Una Serie.

Valengren Kickers 2 – 5 Pythons
Pythons mighty strike force again surpassed that of the opposition, however their defence still looks shaky at this early point in the season.
The Pythons attack force has recently been dubbed the “Holy Trinity” as Ishmael Van Dyke, Federico and Enrico Dossena continue to terrorize defences. Van Dyke opened the scoring early on and quickly doubled the lead with a deft header at the back post.
Valengren pulled one back through Jurgen Lahm but soon found themselves 2 goals behind again when Enrico Dossena burst through the Kickers defence to drive the ball beyond the keeper.
In the second half, Pythons sat back but their defensive frailties were exposed again as Valengren pulled the game back when Sunday Unsworth bundled in a loose ball whilst the Pythons defence stood about. Late on in the game, Van Dyke completed his hat-trick scoring a stunning free kick with his left foot, clearing the wall and smashing into the top corner of the goal. The demolition was complete when Tim Wilcox made the most of a defensive error and slotted home in the 89th minute.

Skyte City 2 – 2 Port Los Renato
Skyte City manager Daryl Ferguson stepped down after this game as Skyte continued their winless streak against rock-bottom PLR. Racing into a two goal lead Skyte looked destined to pick up their first three points of the campaign, however a plucky PLR side battled back to gain their first point of the year.
Alberto Xisco opened the scoring on 7 minutes, back heeling the ball beyond Fernando Earroc in the PLR goal, before assisting Skyte’s second, feeding the ball into the path of Amets Mendiluze to power a shot from the edge of the box and into the goal.
Alex Rowley shuffled his squad in the second half and PLR pulled one back quickly. Rio Heskey notched their first before Lionel Vega found the equalizer against the deflated Skyte defence.
After the game and the manner in which his team gave away the three points, Daryl Ferguson stepped down, leaving a question mark over who will take over as manager, with speculation former Barbossa coach and Skyte assistant Dennis Vaz Tae would return.

Almondvale 2 – 1 Real Minanda
Real Minanda were unlucky to collect no points in this game as Almondvale scrape a late winner.
‘Vale opened the scoring in the 63rd minute when Klaas Breinburg’s shot deflected off Minanda centreback Javier Zamora and wrong-footed the keeper. Zamora atoned for this mistake by heading the ball back into the box from a corner after it was cleared, the ball beat the defence and Alan Sherington managed to reach the ball before the on-coming keeper and grab the equalizer.
The game was then dominated by Minanda who threw everyone forward in search of the win only to be caught with a fast paced counter attack in the dying moments of injury time. Breinburg swept the ball forward to Guardiola who played a neat ball down the left wing to the unmarked Neil Harrison who cut back inside onto his right foot and launched the ball goalward. Al Weaver parried the ball but only as far as Ulli White how added a second goal of the campaign and snatched the three points.
Afterwards Minanda coach Hector Gonzales was disgusted at the result and fumed

“It should have been us going home with the three points rather than nothing. We were the better team all game. This result is an absolute travesty.”

Salaga F.C 0 – 0 Royal Khaldoon
Salaga held Royal Khaldoon to pick up another point and surprise another big side this season. This is another result which has stunned fans and pundits a like after Salaga’s 6-1 opening day humiliation.
Salaga’s packed defence frustrated Royal as the team’s newly adopted passing game failed to break down the Salaga resolution. Another point and Salaga have surprised everyone by getting over their debut demolition and continue to impress.
Khaldoon coach Tarmo Mae stated

“I think they have the potential to stay up, their scrappy and can grind out a result, they’re maybe just missing a few goals to grab wins.”

However Khalid Farooz, manager of Salaga retorted

“We don’t need to be “grabbing” goals in a sneaky fashion, we’re a strong team and will score goals of our own volition.”

Their goal scoring record however speaks for itself, having notched just six in as many games, Salaga are joint second lowest goal scorers in the league with PLR and Athletic Khaldoon.

Ridgemont Town 3 – 1 Augustus
Ridgemont were the team to finally holt Augustus winning streak having won their first five consecutive games of the season. Goals from Fabricio Salgado, Joe Carrol and Ahmed Khan rocked the Augustus ship and finally looked to dent the sheen around them.
One bright spark that came from this game was the return of Hugo Anderson who missed the second half of last year through injury. The 18 year old winger played the final 20 minutes of the game and provided the vital cross which saw Ryan Gaspar head home his first in Augustus colours. The youngsters return was marked with a standing ovation from the traveling fans as he warmed up on the touchline. He is still however not expected to be fully fit and is unlikely to start Augustus’s next game against Valengren Kickers.

Athletic Khaldoon 2–1 Jonastown Utd
A late penalty for Jonastown was not enough for them to steal a point in this tepid affair. Both sides set out to cancel one another defensively and could not find a break through until the second half when Khaldoon striker Craig Jones beat the offside trap and slotted home the opener. Jones then added a second almost identical goal as the Jonastown line pushed up too far and he found acres of space to run into before netting.
Jonastown got a late breakthrough when Riley Van Proovijan was adjudged to have handled in the box and a penalty was awarded. Alexis Berklas stepped up and took the penalty and although Brad Johnson got a hand to the ball there was too much power behind the shot and the ball crossed the line.

The Somewhereistonian Liigas are broughy to you by: Hyeondae

So, season number five it is in Somewhereistonia (or so we are told). Atlantas continue to spend in their attempt to dominate the league (spending another $18million). Qasarian Sparta bring in old manager and club hero Toomas Ergma after he loses the national job, his previous assistant decides to move on to Queer Poco El Mono Ara, apparently doing fairly well at their version of Atlantas. Dinamo Karrakiv look to hoist themselves back into a position in the 'big two' after several years of Metalurgs and Atlantas going and interfering. Theres several new face all over the league as the “internationalisation” of the league continues. At the same time we see an increasing number of players going over to internationalise other people's leagues for them. Aren't we nice?

So how did it all go?

Well, despite many good attempts it was quite surprising to see Dinamo Karrakiv grab their first title since the introduction of the new league. All this despite not really changing anything again. It seems that their patience has paid off this year. The final season for club hero and all time top goal scorer Skorimilov was a great one, despite his waning importance on the team. A good 15 goals really helped him leave in good spirits. He was a great player for the team and one that will be hard to replace (although with the Han strikers coming through, it might already have been done).

Atlantas recovered well after last season's disaster, scraping second place and a chance to prove their international talents at the level they deserve to be playing at. They also won the Liistrik Kruus but I'll go onto that a bit later. Han Seonseok, who was so close to the sack after last season's performance, keeps his team intact and looks like he is finally starting to get them to gel, with the team having a very good finish to the season to pip Qasarian Sparta to second. Atlantas can boast the foreign player of the season with Adrian Case from Jasῐyun, the $24million signing fee almost now three seasons ago is paying off it would seem. If Atlantas can hold themselves together then they should really be able to challenge next season, both in the cup, league and posibly the TQCC.

Qasarian Sparta may not quite have got the magical return some expected for their hero manager Ergma, but a decent and consistant performance throughout the season means the club have a good place in the Globe Cup and the league to build from. The team started well but really got shaken up on match day three getting smashed 7-1 by an Atlantas side with a point to prove. A hat-trick from Daniel Costa Cassis and goals from Soro, Birsa (2) and Case really knocked the team down a notch, it was a big loss but one which began a dip in form that ultimately proved costly for the side. Had it not been for this early drubbing and the moral drop that it caused, Sparta could quite easily have nabbed themselves another title. As it happens, they will have to wait another season before they can do that again.

After last season's epic performance, the lack of extra funding began to show, with players starting to become a little tired. The defenders really struggled to hold together and they really just conceeded far too many resulting in a massive number of draws. Not what the fans wanted to see, but they did still manage to claim a Globe Cup place. Metalurgs did do one thing well, that was score goals. The 17 year old Kazys Xentolov certainly has his fair share, getting a massive 44 goals in the league to set a new record. The stint in the national team during the Cup of Harmony really let him out of the box, he has become the most dangerous player in the league, outdoing even Kusnets.

Xentolov's goals are all that made the difference between Metalurgs and the red-winged half of Venspils; Ventspils really pushed again this season, they are really getting good every other season now. If only they were more consistant they might be able to build themselves up to TQCC standard. Ventspils Redwings then, clearly outdid their old rivals this season (being at almost symetrical ends of the table for starters).

Skonto may be boring, but they are still getting results (despite having to sell the better half of their squad to pay of debts two seasons ago). Not really much to talk about. They were a very distant fifth and you can start to feel the bigger clubs pulling away at the top.

Koltelcia are slightly more interesting to talk about, mainly because they are so far from the top points wise, despite being fairly regular in the Globe Cup (well, the qualifiers anyway). So, a big disappointment for the club that has done so well with not a huge amount. They now appear to have the money to invest, not sure what they will throw that at though, hopefully somebody to score goals for them. Vetra Jurmala and Qasarian City both got solid top half finishes, maybe they will someday be able to take this and go onto get something of a regular performance at international club level.

Kabano Zeppelin continue to prove their worth in the top flight, and look like they have just about won a fairly permanent place after three seasons at the top. Good performance from the Golgothastani striker to keep them running. Despite their mid-table finish, they really are quite an exciting team to watch, really something for the league.

So, the promoted teams, Hawks had a reasonable season, enough to stay up but with them at their usual antics of selling all of their older players (mostly going off to this NUMTIES league it seems); I really can't see them getting the consistancy to stay up. Not that the academie's board appear too bothered, as they keep saying; their main aim is “the creation of promising new talent and selling it to those who need it”. So, the Bluewings; not a great first season for them. Two successive promotions and suddenly they face the drop? Not a good sign and one that might tease some investment out of the pockets of those who preside over what was once a very good club.

As always, two teams got relegated, FBK Karrakiv and Trans Lazvor. FBK Karrakiv have been lucky to stay where they are up to now, really riding off the goals of the young Ragnar Zaks. He wants to move and I don't blame him and you could really see signs of frustration last season from the poor service he was getting from midfield. The club have a lot of work to do and they almost certainly will have their best striker to replace. Trans Lazvor are lucky to be in the top division really, not a lot to say, they are an Esiliiga level club who got lucky.

So, now that we have gone through the performance a little bit, lets get down to goals, who scored the most?

Impressive tallies as always in the Somewhereistonian league. What can we say? We like our football exciting over here in the Baltic. Still, usually the goals are more spread out across the team, we are now really beginning to see some real focus on the forward players, with a few from each team seemingly grabbing all the goals. Still quite a few Somewhereistonians at the top, Alanik Belmovski being the only one that's any surprise to see, having previously been very quiet.

So the Esiliiga, um. Its the second division and it's still suffering from the mass 'B' team withdrawal, meaning that nobody really knows where half of the clubs are from until they look them up on the map. Tammeka Kuressaare finally find their way back up to the top flight, something they do deseve, they are joined by the league winner's Olnavia United; I can see them back in the Esiliiga before too long. Olnavian's don't hold your breath!

FK Kabano are yet to prove themselves and have now solf their top striker Altosaar to this NUMPTIES league, it looks like the club might find themselves here for the long haul. FK Narva and Vili ühendatud are the unlucky two going down after what turned out to be a very tight finish. Just two points between the bottom 6!

FK Samseong Dreiliņaja and ISC Rig both find themselves in not too bad a position in their second season. Both of the new foreign clubs finding promotion. On their current form they could be off to the Meistrliiga in the not too distant future. I can't see these two being targets for relegation next season. Other foreign teams had mixed success, they really need to work if they are to get up to the top now.

FK Reiki and Laz United are the bottom two who will have to play at least a season in the fairly complicated non-league club-eights series as the english speakers would probably call it.

So, the cup. Crazy this year!

Aggregate: ISC Rig 8-5 Ventspils Bluewings

Final
Atlantas Klaipaada 6-0 ISC Rig

So, these are the later rounds. Metalurgs looked good until they got pummeled in the home leg of the semi-final. Whilst ISC Rig kept getting results from somewhere. Two 3-3 draws in the first games of the quarter and semi finals appeared to set up great wins for them. In the final they did not draw 3-3 and there was not a second leg. Adrian Case took the match-ball after the foreign player of the season managed a hat-trick, the young Nethertopian Guilio Soro got a brace to prove his $9m valuation and this was capped off by a smart injury time finish from Cafundalese striker Daniel Costa Cassis to make it a very impressive 6-0 win in the final. The first clean sheet, the most goals scored and the first hat-trick in the final. A few records for the Atlantics.

Sponsorship

The same 41 voters who were asked to choose the site of the IUCC18 final were asked to choose between the two submitted bids for future corporate sponsorship of the tournament. In a very close race, Unrealish robotics company Nakiti Corporation defeated Vephrese beverage corporation Taldisos by a single vote, 21 to 20. Therefore, the next three editions of the competition shall be known as the International University Challenge Championship, presented by Nakiti Corporation.

IUCC19 is scheduled to begin on Sunday 6 September; entries will be accepted until Saturday 5 September at 0400 UTC.

International competition
Alianza Ciruelas defeated Skyte City (mmm...beer...) and repeated their 4-0 scoreline against a stale-looking Telecontarë, while 12 de noviembre beat the Eterna Stars. Starblaydia would get revenge through the Beverington Hawks, however. Gordon Ormondroyd was the only Dragon to score in a penalty shootout the Pumas won. Mapabore Juventud's victory over Football Nordiqueville was too little, too late, but San Pablo smashed Lunas FC 5-2 before coasting through the second leg. (Seriously, three goals in the regular season and we could really have had fun with this...)

Alianza Ciruelas defeated Club Stein-los, but 12 de noviembre lost to the only Dover City we ever face so why am I bothering with the disclaimer. Arcrés Millos ousted the Prince's Shield champions (take that, monarchists!) and trounced Ratos Island, but Kim Yujin's extra time goal defeated Alianza Ciruelas.

I suppose under the circumstances I should be making up names for my own players rather than showing off my NSwikibrowsing ability. But this isn't really madness, no...it's...something else! Yeah!

Ojedo Cerro lost to some West Zirconians (no, not those guys). The Pumas were drawn against some imperialists and accordingly beat them, 4-3, while CA Condadore showed up just in time to lose on away goals. 12 de noviembre lost to Yuki City Athletic, but San Pablo edged out Loudon on a goal in the hundred-and-thirty-second (combined) minute.

And then--twice defeating onetime champion CS Ourseville 1093--Arcrés Millos broke through to the TQCC knockouts. Who needs Cristian Delgado anyway? (You'll find out soon enough, mwahahahaha.) Alianza Ciruelas extended Ratos Island's woes to little avail, but though they were left singing the blues in Highmark City (not literally though), the Pumas made the Globe Cup knockout stages. Millos were respectable in defeat to Cafundó do Juta, while San Pablo took out another Ourseville TQCC titlist (I'm not sure I ever understood how weird that word looks) before losing to the eventual champions.

The season
                     W D L GF GA GD Pts
Trecelunas FC 10 4 4 23 15 8 34 C/TQCC
Mapabore Juventud 10 3 5 24 19 5 33 TQCC
Arcrés Millos 9 2 7 33 26 7 29 TQCC
Piratas de Grisolon 7 5 6 30 25 5 26 GC
CA Condadore 7 5 6 27 26 1 26 GC
Estudiantes de Íguen 6 6 6 16 17 -1 24
12 de noviembre 5 6 7 20 23 -3 21
Alianza Ciruelas 5 5 8 18 25 -7 20
Unión de Ciudagua 4 5 9 22 33 -11 17
San Pablo 3 7 8 22 26 -4 16

Um...

Where do I start?

After three consecutive seasons outside the top half, Trecelunas FC have buckled down. Perhaps it took that long for this crop of defenders to gain the experience they needed, but maybe it was worth it--only four teams managed to score a single goal in Estadio Taturgo. (No, Estudiantes de Íguen, you don't count. Shut up and be happy you're not last.) With Sabas Melendez nearing retirement, it remains unclear where the team will go from here. It's unlikely that they'll ever return to this kind of idiosyncracy, but--to the frustration of many--the defense worked, and is here to stay.

There, that wasn't so bad, was it?

The only team to beat them at home were runners-up Mapabore Juventud. Second by a point, and it was even closer before I made the tables add up correctly, Mapabore were themselves beaten only once at home. A negative goal difference on the road bore testament to their inconsistencies, but overall they've turned what could be a drab formation into a counterattacking one, capitalizing on their opponents' defensive mistakes.

Rounding out the TQCC places, we have Arcrés Millos. They scored four goals in three different games, but conceded plenty as well. Admittedly, they lost four times at home, but hey, everyone gets jitters in front of those home fans once in a while, right? Pressure to defend the title, a coach in his first season with the team? It happens to the best of us, you know? 12 de noviembre tied them last time, remember, and they lost four times at home, it happens?

Tied for fourth come Piratas de Grisolon and CA Condadore. The former include Golden Boot winner Chale Cobarrubias, and the latter might derive some vicarious pleasure from seeing the wildness all around them, even if their own results were nothing extraordinary. Still, they both go to the Globe Cup, no conspiracy, no controversy, no teams from the bottom half. Congratulations!

Then we have Estudiantes de Íguen (all-out defense is evil?), 12 de noviembre (teams have bad seasons, right? We established this?), Alianza Ciruelas (yeah, yeah, yeah they do) and, erm, Unión de Ciudagua. They won the Ciudagua derby, actually. Competitive balance is good, yes? Maybe someday we'll look back on this season as another good fight going right down to the wire instead of the title nobody wanted to win.

Most particularly, the team that was supposed to be the best in the league.

Perhaps their stars were tired from national-team appearances. (Perhaps not, but your guess of a calendar is as good as mine. I can claim it's April 2037 right now and what are you going to do, complain because it's the future and you don't have your flying car? The starving...uh...starving people don't know or particularly care.)

Anyway, there are no good explanations as to why San Pablo couldn't win one stinking game at home. ¡They were beat by Unión de Ciudagua! (Admittedly, that was after I rescorinated several of the visitors' games because they weren't attacking as much as they were supposed to, reversing some of their previous upsets in the process, ¡but still!)

It's too early to panic outright. They certainly didn't the last time they were threatened with relegation. But still, it doesn't stop plenty of fans from wishing there was a league where Aguazul's third-largest city had a successful team. Or its first- and fourth-largest cities had any teams at all. And there was actually attack, and on a good day you could see 5-2 games...

Well, lo and behold...

THERE IS.
