Cannot Send a Mass Telegram

Postby Jim the Baptist » Fri Oct 11, 2024 6:11 pm

I'm trying to paste a list of about 300 nation names separated by commas, but I just get an endless pinwheel underneath the address line. I've tried waiting about 30 minutes but nothing changes. Why would this be?

That is certainly a lot of individual nation names. Are you confident that you cannot reach them via a tag instead?

Thanks for replying. No I can't because it's a very specific list. I used to send mass telegrams of this size regularly to hundreds of nations and it worked fine. This is the first time I've tried in about a year.

Is this a known issue or something to do with my account?

This is.... the first I'm hearing about it, for sure. Have you tried pasting the list in smaller chunks?

I had the same problem about four years ago, while doing an at-vote campaign for Condemn Raionitu - the one that was infamously decided by 78 votes - which was sent towards roughly 1,800 individual nations that were voting against the resolution. The list of recipients did not load like a normal list, but I was able to send the TG without any technical issues - although I did run into the small political matter of XKI thinking, for a time, that I had sent it to some XKIers in violation of the Respect Our Vote Act. (They later confirmed that I did not.)

This is sounding like a UI bug and not an actual telegram issue. If so, I'm not sure there's a whole lot we can do to fix it, because the actual issue will be from your computer going "holy fucking shit I can't process 1800 simultaneous AJAX requests from this one tab."
