They should consider reintroducing Lego Soccer from the 2000s.

And then what? People buy it and say,

I'll pass. The last thing we need is more football/soccar in this world.

Agreed. Lego should bring back Lego Hockey. It's hard to make an authentic Lego soccer set if you don't have a minifig flopping and pretending to be hurt.

Oh, they do. Lego Star Wars was once awesome and I could very well imagine buying some good sets of the newer stuff, even if the corresponding media sucked, but... well, they are either super-collector sets, cheap remakes of older sets I already have in better or they aren't good.
Or whatever in the name of God this is supposed to be. Or this.

So, I propose a new theory: Lego doesn't suck because they're just bad franchise tie ins, but because they are bad franchise tie ins.

They can literally change the name of any generic guy (Cough... Emmet... Cough) and they could sell him for more. I was VERY lucky to pull an Emmet from a Blind Bag (I wanted Batman or Wildstyle)

Back in the 1980s I was a kid. I have fond memories of sleepovers where we would rent a movie or two and my buddy and I would each have a spaceship lego kit. We would make the lego spaceships and watch movies. Those were good times.

I loved Lego as a kid, particularly the themes I grew up with (Alpha Team, Life on Mars, Aqua Raiders, etc.). The sets from the late '90s and early 2000s are probably my favorites. I'll walk down the toy aisle now and then to see what Lego's selling--and maybe I've just become one those "back in my day, we had the best toys" types--but the sets don't appeal to me as much. One, many sets seem too specialized (too many printed pieces, too much detail on minifigures, too many weird-shaped bricks that lack versatility), and for me, that just takes away from the simplicity of Lego. Two, there are fewer sets designed for play--there's much more of a focus on scale models and sculptures and mosaics that are designed to be left alone and looked at vs. employed in play. I get it, Lego's marketing toward fans who are adults now, but still, for me, the coolest sets were the ones that were designed to be handled and taken apart and rearranged. Three, and it's unavoidable the way the economy has gone, prices. Kits are pretty expensive. I remember back when you could get a Lego Star Wars battle pack with a vehicle and 4 minifigs for $10. Those were the days.

But, Lego's still a cool brand, and I have no intention of parting with any of the sets I've been gifted or bought over the years.

As it happens, some friends gave me 75257 Millennium Falcon as a thank-you gift yesterday.

One of my pandemic projects was making 3D models and ray-traced build instructions for all of the Lego sets I could still find the instructions for (except the police boat, because screw modeling the hull piece) and some of the custom builds I have kicking around. (I originally started the project as a sort of save file for a castle I built using all the wall sections from all the major '80s castles.) The new sets I've gotten since I've been modeling as I built them, so the Falcon has been slow going... I'm only about halfway through the first set of bags. It hasn't been nearly as bad about new parts that I don't have in my library yet as the Medieval Blacksmith or Imperial Probe Droid were, at least...

I have some sets from my mum and her siblings at my grandparents. Aztecs, Pirates, an Ambulance and boats.

Croissant-addicted Aztecs that carry pistols and have a pet crocodile and shark who eat my sister's music concert while some random Race car driver rams his car into them and it rains 1x1 round pieces and everything goes chaotic and fire bricks engulf it while the crowd continues to dance. Also, Spiderman drives a fighter jet while a construction guy finds some paddles and flees while a werewolf chases the pirates.

I love the chaos you create and imagination you free with Lego.

As a kid, I have a lot of Lego. I love building buildings from scratch, I used to make forts with random bricks I found in my Lego box. My Lego box was a box filled with over 7,000 Lego inside excluding Minifig pieces. (Includes weapons and armor) Now I have about 100 Lego Minifigs and exactly 4 Bigfigs. A hobby I have is doing battles between the Army men and the Lego. I have around 500 army so it's kinda chaotic on the battlefield. Sometimes you can barely see the floor where the battle took place.
