There are also probably local warlords who you will have to fight over the mines, but you could probably hire some Mercs or if you pay more maybe some government forces could protect company assets. There is a lot of potential

The Grigori are honestly amoral enough to do that, if they weren’t ordered to maintain the desert as part of the main Holy Empire. They would probably pull a Hazamkhong on the prisoners they sent over. (Context: Grigori black ops in Hazamkhong once sewed up C4 explosives inside an enemy officer and then released him back into his army. Yeaaah… it wasn’t pretty.)
