1. Introduction

Westwickport, officially the Kingdom of Westwickport, is a kingdom-state in Terra Nova. Weswickport covers an area of 278,528 square kilometres and has a population of about 2.415 billion people. The Kingdom of Westwickport is a social democratic and peaceful nation, known for the ambivalent professionalism of the majority of its government bureaucracies and its strict diplomatic neutrality and fair treatment of various government ideologies internationally. It is home to two main linguistic groups, the Westportian speakers and the Wickportian speakers. Westwickport's linguistic diversity, together with its complex government and political structure are reflected within the kingdom's political history.

Historically, Westwickport was a colony of the Community of Mindemoya. It was a prosperous centre of commerce and trade. It all changed when, during the Imperial Unification War, the Community of Mindemoya was subjugated and colonised by its then neighbouring kingdom, the Kingdom of Java (present day Empire of Anagonia-Yohannes).
Following the independent Fellowship Charter that follows, King Rajino Hamengkubuwono of Yohannesian Java decided that the granting of independence upon Westwickport would only result in a positive diplomatic view towards the kingdom's international reputation. On 4 February 1837, the Duchy of Westwickport has formally become an independent nation-state, its monarchic status updated from that of "Duchy" to "Kingdom".

Following the aftermath of the independence in 1837, the Westwickporian economy was under a catastrophic state, the kingdom's natural resources has been exploited incessantly by the colonising nation of Mindemoya for a period of almost four decades, it's industries lagging far behind than even some of its third world counterparts in Terra Nova. As time went by, the economy started to prosper, with conjunction to a general ruling government of strict external neutrality and the development of closer ties with its regional neighbours. The early 20th century, specifically around the 1910s and 1920s, was a period of rapid industrialisation for the kingdom, followed by a strict policy of environmental-care and preservation. The Westwickporian economy is known regionally for its powerhouse of energy and oil industries, together with its tourism sector.

The 1950s and 1960s were a time of internal turbulence and ethnic violence throughout the kingdom, with ethic flare-ups and conflicting interests perpetrated by both the main ethnic group, the Westponian and Wickponian. The internal times of trouble ended in 17 August 1959 when the then Prime Minister Andrew Kent Hamilton declared a state of martial law and arrested the main perpetrator and sources of the ethnic violence and organisations responsible behind the scene.

The 1970s and 1980s were a time of significant cultural and social change. The Absolute Monarchic system was abolished on 18 April 1976, subsequently replaced by a more democratic and representative Constitutional Monarchic and Federal Parliamentary System. Social changes persevered and changed the structure of the kingdom; women's rights demonstrations, sexuality recognitions, disarmament, and various environmental issues forced the then-socially conservative majority government to seek change, or face political chaos and continuing internal problems.

At present, the Kingdom of Westwickport is a stable nation, both economically and politically.

The Kingdom has three main geographical regions; the forestry region in the north-east belonging to the state of East Wickport, the coastal plain in the north-west belonging to the state of West Wickport, and the hilly and mountainous southern part belong to that of Alexandria-Wickport. The general climate within the Kingdom is that of maritime temperate climate, and due to its high population density, the Kingdom faces serious environmental problems needed to be addressed and recognised.

The climate of the Kingdom of Westwickport is that of maritime climate and a significant amount of precipitation throughout all four seasons (summer, mid-winter, winter, and spring). The lowest average temperature is 3 °Celcius around January and the highest temperature is usually recorded around July at 18 °Celcius. There are a variety of average precipitation monthly with the usual average being between 52.8 millimetres for February or April, to 76.1 millimetres for July.

The Kingdom of Westwickport's government system is that of a constitutional and popular monarchy, with a federal parliamentary democracy. The Federal Parliament consists of a Federal Senate and a Chamber of Representatives. The Federal Senate is a senate body of 71 seats, with 40 of the seats being politicians elected by the population, 21 appointed by His Royal Majesty's advisors, and 10 chosen seats inherited by descendants of nobles and aristocratic families. The Chamber of Representative on the other hand, the other branch of the Federal Parliament, is a body consisting of 150 representatives fully elected by a proportional voting system throughout the kingdom. The Kingdom of Weswickport hold a Compulsory Voting Act, requiring all of its registered citizens to cast their vote.

The current King, HRM Cid Walden, is the Head of State of the Kingdom. He has the abilities to appoint ministers, including the Prime Minister him/herself. However, precluding each appointment(s), a formal declaration of appointment has to be announced to the Federal Parliament, in order to gain the necessary official vote of confidence to form the federal government. There are an equal numbers of Westponian and Wickponian-speaking ministers within every cabinets, as prescribed and officially enforced by the constitution. The Judicial Code are based on the civil and public law, and all candidates has to be submitted and officially approved by the High Justice Council.

The political institutions and organisations of the Kingdom of Weswickport are complex, as most of them are organised with the needs to best represent every cultural and political communities within the kingdom. The major parties in each areas belong in three groups generally; the right-wing liberals (liberal conservative), the socially conservative Christian Democrats, and the general socialists and social democratists forming the left-wing political parties.
