What is the actual truth?

Well most of the time the claim is people who aren't necessarily LGBT themselves (i.e. teachers, media corporations, parents) are trying to make kids LGBT, and in some cases that is abuse. So it isn't going to be LGBT people getting rounded up like apparently some people in this thread are alluding to - in the minds of the right, they're more often the victims, not the perpetrators.

I've heard both claims. Neither of them are grounded in reality, but fearmongering can be like that.

Because he's fairly popular in the State? I mean, compared to other types of Republicans, he's more on the moderate side, even if some of positions are extreme. But keep in mind too, Democrats do control the State Senate so it's not like he can enact whatever he wants: he is forced to work with Democrats so I think that is contributing why his approval rating is higher.

Of course they're the victims from their point of view. First you other a group. Then you play them up to be an existential threat to everyone else's way of life. Make people believe that removing the target group is not only justified, but necessary. Then you dehumanize them and strip their rights. And then you round them all up.
