Altaia. Country in Northern Hasua, inhabited by three million people, named after a famous mountain range going across its eastern territory. Formerly a socialist republic. For over ten years, the country has been under rule of self proclaimed Khan of Mirskian origin, Viktor, Baron von Yungingen. Proclaimed by the lamas as an avatar of begtse and infamous for lack of mental stability, the "Bloody Baron" drowned the country in the ocean of red.
The decision to invade Altaia was already made in 2021, but was accelerated by signing of Treaty of Galador by the Empire of Greater Nifon. Having to adjust to a new geopolitical reality created by Sombreland on it's southern flank, the Nifonese government made a decision to topple all remaining anti-Nifonese regimes in the area and secure all available natural resources in preparation for the coming competition against other states. The invasion was also influenced by Maki Kojiro's desire to break up the alliance between Baishou Gin and the Kurosawa family by providing the Toyotama Zaibatsu with a fief of their own, similar to Murakami's approach in Dainam.
And thus, the early 2023 saw the "Special Military Operation" aimed at toppling the Mad Baron and replacement of the government of Altaia with one more amicable to Nifon.
