Not a mod, but common sense says, in general, it's not about who you support necessarily, but how you argue your point your of view within the rules and civility. If you can do that, you are welcome to participate in NS as you please, for the most part.

The Taliban are now the legal government of Afghanistan, you don't like it and I don't like it, but there are persons who like it. But it is good that you are asking the Moderators who make the rules.

To be quite honest with you, this site needs to have a discussion on whether people who come on here to argue in favor of hateful ideologies should be allowed at all. I don't think NS should be allowed to be an open platform for Nazis, white supremacists, anti-semites, incels and Islamo-fascists

That conversation was had a long time ago. It is the site owner's opinion that silly, stupid, and even sickening opinions are better allowed in the sunlight, where they can be ripped apart, than pushed into the shadows. The many people who cannot argue their unpopular opinion while staying within the rules will get punished for that, but within the rules, anything is permissible. (Or almost anything. I think the staff finally got tired of cookie-cutter Nazi nations.)

If I've been brought up, then I take this as permission to defend my actions or opine on the matter. The fact that this website doesn't allow the more extreme viewpoints means that this place isn't as serious and flexible of a debating platform as I'd hope. It takes away from my user experience in any case. While I do try my best to adhere to the "no trolling" rule it remains an annoying limitation in the eyes of many people.

I'd ask, why shouldn't some people support the Taliban if for better or worse, they're an official government that is currently in power within Afghanistan and are a valid faction so far as which side will win out in Afghanistan's civil wars over the long term?

In the thread about when the US puppet government in Afghanistan lost, there were no sanctions given for supporting the Taliban; so I concluded that it is within the website's rules to publicly support them if nothing has changed between then and now. The Taliban has implemented various policies on the ground where they rule, so it is plausible that some people politically agree or are more in alignment with what they're doing.

There is nothing truly more nefarious at play, if the Taliban is perhaps Afghanistan's equivalent to the US Republican party for the time being, albeit- originating from and supported by Pakistan.

This was discussed long ago. Basically any ideology can be discussed here as long as site rules about harassment, trolling, etc. are followed. About the only explicitly banned ideology as far as I know is holocaust denial.
