Opening Act
Raya - Time for a Celebration!
Tune: Rosa López - Europe's Living a Celebration

A medium-sized choir is stood on both sides of the stage, leaving a passageway in the middle. The LED screen shows drawing of all sorts of celebratory things and symbols, from party hats to cakes to stars to smileys. The light array flashes to the beat. After the 8th "Celebration", Raya walks on stage.
Celebration (x10)

She then starts singing.
I heard about a magical place today
A place where the rhythm is so real
The millions in the audience will say
Their fave, the winner, they’ll reveal

Come on down to your shining stage
To a place where you’re free
So whenever you feel down
Just come pick up your crown

She and the choir start doing a choreo consisting mostly of waving their arms around.
‘Cuz it’s time for a celebration
No more waiting, everybody’s here
Yes, it’s time for a celebration
All our nations full of joy and cheer

They stop doing the choreo, starting again when the chorus comes by.
There’s rock bands, jokes, ballads, cheesy pop songs
No matter who, we’ll party tonight
Right now there exist no rights or wrongs
So you can do whatever feels right

You’re one step away from superfame
Superstar in the making
So make your dreams come true
We’re all waiting for you

‘Cuz it’s time for a celebration
No more waiting, everybody’s here
Yes, it’s time for a celebration
All our nations full of joy and cheer

The LED screen goes dark, with several spotlights instead illuminating Raya and the choir.
And when voting begins
We’ll find out who wins
But really, that’s not the point
It’s about loving all those, joint

Two of the choir members run towards to camera, revealing themselves to be our hosts.
Celebration (x6)

Killian Philippon: Hi, I'm Killian Philippon...
Mayka Layaznaka: ... and I'm Mayka Layaznaka...
Both: ... and we're your hosts tonight!
Mayka Layaznaka: Tonight, acts from 25 countries all over the multiverse will perform their song.
Killian Philippon: How about we meet them?
Both: Come out, everybody! Let the party begin!

All 32 acts come on stage. They join Raya, the choir and the hosts in a dance party. The LED screen figuratively explodes in colour.
‘Cuz it’s time for a celebration
No more waiting, everybody’s here
Yes, it’s time for a celebration
All our nations full of joy and cheer

‘Cuz it’s time for a celebration
No more waiting, everybody’s here
Yes, it’s time for a celebration
All our nations full of joy and cheer

Celebration
Celebration

All people on stage throw their fist up. Loud cheers and applause can be heard from the audience. Raya shouts "THANK YOU!".

Killian Philippon: That was Raya, one of the most influential South Batoki artists from the 90s and our representant in the 100th WorldVision Song Contest. As some might say, she is mother.
Mayka Layaznaka: Anyway, welcome everybody!

The audience cheers.

Mayka Layaznaka: As I've just said, 25 acts will compete for the trophy tonight here in Buaka. This is the running order:
Image
Killian Philippon: As you might have noticed, there were also instructions on how to vote, but don't do that yet! You can only vote after all songs have been performed and the lines have opened.
Mayka Layaznaka: And remember, you can't vote for your own country.
Killian Philippon: Now, without further ado, 3... 2... 1...
Both: LET THE 106TH WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST BEGIN!

"Repeat"
Performed by
Gladys Yu

Image

Tune: ILIRA -"Another Heart"

Image

Gladys Yu is an up-and-coming coming young pop singer who has just released her self-penned debut single, "Repeat" to critical acclaim.

At 25 years old, she is just beginning in the music industry, and has already impressed with her powerful vocals and emotional lyrics.

Originally from Norfolk Pinewoods, Gladys grew up listening to a diverse range of musical influences, from classic schalger and R&B to contemporary pop and rock, and these have all been influences on her musical stylings.

She grew up listening to the likes of Abbie Lindström, Petre Lemetre and Ira Lesco.

She started singing at a young age, performing at local talent shows and church events, and quickly discovered her love for the stage. She honed her skills by performing at open mic nights and recording demos, and eventually caught the attention of a music producer who recognized her talent.

The song "Repeat" recently topped the IBA and Beepeean Charts and represents a move away from the schlager some common at recent WorldVision Song Contests and World Hit Festivals.

Fans have been quick to embrace her music, and she has already built a dedicated following on social media.

Image

Gladys Yu gazed out of the aircraft window at the billowing clouds below. The sky outside was a deep shade of black, illuminated only by the eerie glow of the moon.

Several hours into the flight to South Batoko, most of the passengers were fast asleep. Gladys, on the other hand, was fidgeting in her seat. It was her first time leaving Beepee, and her nerves kept her wide awake.

Needing to stretch her legs, she made her way to the back of the plane, squeezing past some snoring passenger. As she walked around the cabin, Gladys noticed a lone passenger awake - a man sitting a few rows from the back. Though she couldn't see his face clearly, something about him made her uneasy. She tried to shake off the feeling and focus on the adventure ahead. She was headed to South Batoko for the WorldVision Song Contest, and the anticipation was enough to keep her excited despite her nerves.

As the man got up from his seat and headed to the toilets at the back of the plane, Gladys continued on to her seat. She fastened her seatbelt and looked out of the window again, but after hours of staring at endless clouds, her initial excitement had turned to boredom. She flicked through the available movies on the small screen in front of her, finding nothing of interest. She pressed the call button for cabin service.

A few moments later, a weary-looking stewardess in a red and black uniform made her way over.

Suddenly, there was a deafening, sharp, and sudden bang. Air rushed past Gladys, roaring towards the rear of the plane. The stewardess was knocked to the floor, and screams of panic filled the cabin.

The plane lurched downwards, and strange creaking and crunching sounds reverberated in Gladys' ears. Oxygen masks dropped from the overhead compartment, and Gladys fumbled to put hers on amidst the chaos.

The cabin temperature plummeted, and the plane continued its steep descent. The cabin crew tried to calm the panicked passengers, but their efforts were in vain. The plane jolted and shook with each bump and lurch.

Finally, there was a sudden loud crack...

Gladys woke up in a sweat, around her the other passengers slept. She looked out of the window as the moonlight rippled over the top of the clouds.

Unsettled by her nightmare, she went to stretch her legs, walking to the rear of the plane. Where a man in the shadows a few rows from the back stood up and headed to the toilet.

Image

The stage is dimmed, however the backing LED screens are shows the repeat symbol in neon green on a black background. (Helpfully, theres a little 1 at the top of the repeat symbol, which is a nice reminder to vote for song number 1.)

Image

Gladys is positioned centre of the satellite stage, in a black pleather pant suit, down on her haunches.  She's wearing oversized headphones, which are encrusted in diamanté.

Through the darkness she begins.

La-la-la-la
La-la-la-la

A single spotlight focusses on Gladys, as she sings the opening stanza.

She holds a hand to her headphones, as she begins.

Behind her the neon green repeat symbol, glitches and breaks, separating into Neon green bands in the background.

As she sings "Ich steh' auf nochmal", she rises from her haunches, helped by two of the four male backing dancers with her on stage tonight.

Es ist kein anfang
Lass mich ich selbst sein
Ich steh' auf nochmal

Mmm-mm-mm-mm

Love ain't no stranger
And babe I'm in danger
No matter where I go

As the stanza continues, Gladys' backing dancers step in to her she sings "Babe, I'm in Danger", and she turns and raises a hand to push them away.

Despite being new to performing Gladys is confident in her performance.  Having written the lyrics about her former lover she knows the emotion and the sense behind the words.

The camera pans around the front of the stage, and neon green lasers splay out over the top of the audience as the first bridge begins.

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

l've been trying my best
To get you out of my head

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

But you keep coming back
Just like my fav'rite track

As she sings the bridge, Gladys can feel each emotion race through her.  She works  hard to maintain her focus.

The camera focusses on her face through the early part of the bridge before slowly panning out in anticipation of the upcoming chorus.

As she sings "like my fav'rite track", two fo the baking dancers pull at her pleather jacket, which comes away to reveal a tight fitting neon green top.

From the start
From the start
I should've known right from the start
That you'd be coming round again
I turn it up, I love the sound
You know I can't turn you down
I'll play you once, oh yeah,
Then I'll play you once again
You keep playing on repeat, la-la-la-la
You keep playing on repeat, la-la-la-la
You keep playing on repeat
You know you're my fav'rite beat

As the chorus is sung, Gladys and her backing dancers use their whole bodies to create sharp, rhythmic movements, and incorporate repetitive gestures reflecting the theme of the song, .

Throughout the chorus, the  LED screens at the back of the stage display abstract visuals and patterns, which upon closer inspection would be revealed as play, pause, stop, fast forward, rewind and repeat buttons.  They float and revolve in muticolours against the neon green background.

As she sings "you know you're my fav'rite beat", the camera cuts to a close up of her face.  There's a slight look of anguish but it is designed to pull in the viewing audience. It's simple yet effective.

La-la-la-la, oh-oh

Ich muss dich spielen
Bis der ton
Ganz übertönt ist

Mmm-mm-mm-mm

I know I can't shake ya
So I'll have to take ya
Just the way you are

The audience in the e-Hall is beginning to become more involved.  The song, which has already topped the IBA charts, the first Beepeean song to do so, as clearly been on repeat for several of the superfans in the audience.  They are happily singing along, taking video on their mobile phones.  In the hall, the 72,000 or so strong audience is waving their flags with vim and vigour.   This being the first song of the evening, arms clearly are not too sore yet.

The shows director has utilised a number rof interesting visuals tonight, cutting between long shots of the stage to tight close ups on Gladys.  It's kept interest high in the song, but also shown off the stage to the viewing masses.

And now, with the final stanzas of the song, Gladys and her backing dancers contiune to push through the routine.  Beads of perspiration formon Gladys' brow as she works her way onwards. It may not have been what she had planned, but she wouldn't want it any other way.

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

Das war nicht geplant
Doch ich hab's nicht anders 'wollt

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

I've heard it before
But now I'm losing control

As she sings the bridge, there's a sense of empowerment around Gladys.  Her performance is confident and self-fulfilling. She moves with ease around the satellite stage.  Performing to both the audience and the television cameras with ease.

As she sings "Heard it All Before", she rips of her diamanté encrusted headphones and flings them off the side of the stage, where a stage hand runs to collect them.

Then, as the final line of the bridge "but now I'm losing all control" is sung, the pleather pants (off-camera) disappear, and she wiggles down the tight neon green dress that has been hidden underneath. [Beepeeans love a good costume change].

From the start
From the start
I should've known right from the start
That you'd be coming round again
I turn it up, I love the sound
You know I can't turn you down
I'll play you once,
Then I'll play you once again
You keep playing on repeat, la-la-la-la
You keep playing on repeat, la-la-la-la
You keep playing on repeat
You know you're my fav'rite beat

The chorus repeated the earlier choreographed routine.

At the end of the song, the whole of the e-Hall was awash in neon green. It semed lik every light had been turned on.  As she sang "you know you're my fav'rite beat", pyrotechnics erupted from the front of the stage, and with that the whole stage went dark - signifying the end of the song.

From the darkened stage, Gladys Yu shouts "Thank you, Buaka!".  At this moment, we are all Gladys Yu.  The crowd cheered, and the audience watching at home in Beepee felt a great sense of national pride.

It was time now for Sami Noble from the nation of Plangainer...

La-la-la-la
La-la-la-la

It's not a beginning,
Let me be myself,
I get up again

Mmm-mm-mm-mm

Love ain't no stranger
And babe I'm in danger
No matter where I go

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

l've been trying my best
To get you out of my head

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

But you keep coming back
Just like my fav'rite track

From the start
From the start
I should've known right from the start
That you'd be coming round again
I turn it up, I love the sound
You know I can't turn you down
I'll play you once, oh yeah,
Then I'll play you once again
You keep playing on repeat, la-la-la-la
You keep playing on repeat, la-la-la-la
You keep playing on repeat
You know you're my fav'rite beat

La-la-la-la, oh-oh

I gotta play ya
Until the sound
Is all drowned out

Mmm-mm-mm-mm

I know I can't shake ya
So I'll have to take ya
Just the way you are

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

That wasn't planned
But I didn't want it any other way

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

It was the simplest of little joys, both for those working hard every hour at their stations and those whom work at the broader public aspect, each little dividend being worth more and more until they eventually found themselves right at the tip of the mountain. Many though couldn’t have seen it coming, but it didn’t matter to them how simple a song like theirs was, those simple swirls of hair flowing like feathers in the wind, feet clamoring on the pearlescent stage floor as they jumped up and down, maybe even to some extents they found themselves more free than ever before? Sure, seemed like it. There’s always that thought of if it could be bested? Could there be something that’s been itching at the back of everyone’s buds that they would say, “Yes! That’s the one!”

There’s always that thrill of diving into the unknown, but also accompanying it was the presence of frustration, especially when there’s that single line that just doesn’t come to mind when writing their piece. It’ll come later, of course it would, there’s never been a time something wasn’t finished by her own hand, leaning back into the seat she pondered, and pondered. There was an illusion of peace in that drought, darkness so mystical yet bizarre, but there was just one thing that didn’t elude her. The quiet ticks of a clock coming just shy from her right.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Time wasn’t a friend nor a foe, but it persisted as it is an immovable force. Maybe she couldn’t make it? Or could she? She wasn’t going to let it slide, and it was at that moment that she could feel the itch, that one part of her life she didn’t seem to ever find, her way was for her to make, and as it was for her to make it in time. She could have the rest of the day to do it in, but what about tomorrow? How long until she felt the itch again? Could she bear it this time around? She thought on that, and it seemed to be a good idea. Why should she rush things? She had all the time in the world, even if there were no clocks or watches with hands telling her when she needed to start, she would always know. She stood up from the chair she was sitting in, leaving behind the pages of the music she was writing before walking off, taking her trusty guitar from its stand in the corner where she kept it. It was a simple song, something anyone could play by ear alone, but the magic would only come when the melody was sung out loud. That was how she wrote most songs, letting her mind wander along those little lines of her own making while strumming at her strings. Until eventually...

...she shook her head, laughing to herself. "Gosh, I really give a shit too much."

It felt liberating, sometimes to stampede on through and get it done without thinking about anything other than that one note, that one beat that's been soaking into your skin and soul, wasting all those seconds to think too much when you could not care and sing. And so she did. Her fingers quickly flew across the base of the guitar while her foot tapped on the floor, the tempo quickly outpacing the ticks of that clock ticking away in her ears. Soon enough the song started pouring forth like a flood, spilling out from within and splashing upon the ground around her feet as she danced with the rhythm, swirling her hair and rolling her hips. Faster and faster, the notes blurring together until they became one, she didn't even need to sing or hear the drums of what would eventually become of her biggest song yet.

"Make it! Wanna just make it!"

Sami Noble
Sami Noble - Born July 10th, 1996

Born and raised in Concord, Plangainer, the young and aspiring singer Sami Noble ventured out into the world of musical wonderment. After being inspired by her mother's stories of past
experiences as a musician, she started singing at the age of five years old for her local music class, her songwriting journey began after her interest in classical music was ignited from
hearing opera songs performed live while on holiday with her parents, and books by credible musical talents such as 'Liberty of Soot and Wind' by Brim Way, 'Garden of Music' by
Keisuke Kinoshita, 'Sorrowful Angel' by Yukio Mishmi were also among her favorite reads which helped her delve more deeper into the creative side of her musical aspirations,
all these factors combined made her decide that it was time for her to start composing original material herself.

Her debut release "The Heroine" (from her first album titled "A Thousand Words") released in June 2018 through indie label Tear Point Records gave her a small start but this paved way
for greater success with two follow up singles: "Belle" & "Beautiful". In August of the same year Sami's second EP named "Flower" was launched, and both tracks became instant hits
gaining millions of views on YouTube. Her most recent single "For Life" featuring electronic duo producers Kiiara & Hifana has reached over 24 million views on YouTube within less than
a month since its release. Being one of the biggest successes of the small label she's been signed to, and due to the positive response from fans and critics alike, they have now announced
their intention to work together on another project which will be set to release later this year.

Once the opportunity to sign up for the Melodine Song Festival revealed itself, Sami couldn't say no to it as it was an opportunity to gain herself a bigger presence in the most competitive
industry in the world, and once the signatures have been written and contracts have been signed, it was time for her to get to work. The song chosen by Sami for her performance at the
Melodine Song Festival was called 'Make it', a piece surrounding the dreads and worries of bound schedules and tight deadlines, all wrapped in a catchy pop-rock style arrangement, which
had been Sami's particular preference of musical artistry since her first inception. After several successful performances through the auditions and the semi finals, the young artist made
it to the grand final where she performed alongside her favorites and competitors who were competing for the WorldVision Song Contest title, winning the jury and public respectively
for an outstanding 109 points, giving Sami enough points to win Melodine and earn her place to perform for the nation in the WorldVision Song Contest.

    Song Written by: Sami Noble
Producing by: Sami Noble, Kenneth Wid

    Published By: AIM Studios

Song Runtime: 2:42 (2 (Two) Minutes, 20 (Twenty) Seconds)

    Description:
It was time to bring something new to the table, a spice up into a flaming swell of heat from the usual. This is where Sami Noble came to be, amongst the
youngest pop and rock artists in Plangainer she doesn't hold herself back from giving it her all on the stage.

While many bookmakers didn't exactly manage to predict her victory in the Melodine song festival, her position overall being 4th with the bookmakers,
the viewers and jury were swindled enough to push her past whatever odds to gain her glorious crown, without much of a hesitation, she accepted to
represent the nation in the WorldVision Song Contest.

Sami Noble won Melodine with 109 points, her runner up being only 8 points behind.

The rather surprising high of glory both in terms of her familial circles and the very music sphere around her that has been ravaging her messages on social media from both media and fans took her by storm, it wasn't one of surprise but the rather gigantic feeling of surrealness that came with her win in Melodine, though it was growing to be something she was accustomed to since there's going to be plenty more of where worries would start to be a common-set theme during every individual rehearsal she had put on her agenda, which also included the countless minute based therapeutic care of her voice to ensure her full functionality during the coming performances, even those in preparties she scheduled herself both around Plangainer and abroad. Meeting new faces in the same industry she had already stepped foot in was more than a normal joy before she became her own star, it was the sense of inclusion but also family - something in which she always finds herself comfortable in being part of - amongst the other big names which were taking part.

Talking both about herself, her nation and - most importantly - her music was thrilling, so much information to pack in a seemingly hasted solution to a simple question thrown by your average WorldVision media gurus, quite the excited girl she was seen by many. Though once it was time for her to pack it up for the last pre-party, it also reinvigorated a little sense of dread she always felt for those final exams prior to her eventual graduation, the sense of preparing for something glorious at an event the size of what it was. Picky minds were always looking for the best, and so were they going to see Sami Noble and what she would bring to the stage.

It was that time of day, the first rehearsals came along and boy was she just getting used to being around the dozen fresh faces of stage staff, delegations and crew. It almost seemed ironic with what her song was about - a song about time and how she wanted to make it before it ran out - especially in a context where every minute of her rehearsals counted, one day upon another she got ready with every opportunity that presented itself, both on the very grand stage as well as other performers who found the idea of collaboration and sing-alongs with Sami herself a fun pass-time activity to sing either their own WorldVision songs or a cutesy cover of another, both in which she didn't mind herself. The final touches were being made and she wanted it to be perfect, the way it was envisioned originally, especially with her particular craft - even when it wasn't something that fit for that strong desire for particular details in others - where all little motions made her say that it was the best thing she had done. The new delegation members were always supportive, finding any way to make herself shine on stage whereas others couldn't think of even through any limitations that prohibited from putting that little small drop of spice that allowed them to stand out amongst the strong line up, but regardless of that, it would eventually be ready.

The day had come, and once the notorious IBA theme had sounded through in the packed arena of thousands upon thousands of fans, it marked the point of no return for the young Rockstar, and she sat with her crew as they waved their flags in their small sitting space in the green room, awaiting their turn which luckily by the running order didn't take long before she was called up to the stage by a dedicated crew after the very first performance of the night, ending off at a high as the audience clapped and applauded the performer after an extraordinary run throughout, the sounds of sheer whistling and woo-ing from the thousands of onlookers muffling through the thick concrete as they escaped into the depths of the backstage before her in-ear was set and the microphone was in hand. Standing right by the edge of the very stage as she looked down at her feet, taking a small breath as the sounds of the postcard swiftly faded out in her mind...

"Let's do this!"

Image

As the postcard ends and the audience grows evermore louder with every attendee standing up from their seats and applauding for the next upcoming act, silence befell upon the crowded venue once the lights dimmed from its regular introductory shine to complete darkness, the stage and everyone included on it shrouded in its consuming blackness as only the lights of a few phones and glowing wristbands were visibly scattered along through the spacious venue amongst those watching the contest unfold.

In an almost abrupt rash of a guitar, the performers; Sami Noble herself, dressed in a simple white loose shirt that was clearly a few sizes too large for her and simple, blue denim jeans was seen lit up by a silhouette of red as the steadi-cam slowly panned around one of the guitarists on stage, mainly the lower half of the guitar itself, focusing on the lower-middle half of the player as Sami was mostly stashed away in the background as a blurry form as she sung the first few lines, the arena - now bearing some form of visual theme - was decorated in a glimmering shine of refractive glass visuals with a strong tint of red underlying the bottom closest to the stage floor, the very floor itself bearing no visual asides from a checkered floor that seemed to distort slightly every time the guitar would be strummed.

Halfway through the first verse, the camera slowly diverted back its focus on the main singer while it remained to pan around the guitar slowly, clearing up her appearance to anyone curious enough to not have made it out already as she moved into the second half of the first verse.

All blanks, all days and more than just sleepless night
Trust myself to have a good talk
Everyone agrees how to say please

The shot quickly pans out from the first cut as it moved into a second shot of another steadi-cam seemingly doing the same motions in the opposite direction, this time a drummer out of focus to the very right hand side of the screen as Sami looked from her right to the left onwards to the camera, the focus pulling back away from Sami as it focused the drummer's sticks and mainly the high tom and snare drum as the player struck the black sound-pad which ensured the rhythmic snap was present during the introductory verse as it was in the studio version in the song, sharing the same structure of how it only seemed to include the arms of the drummer, while keeping the legs and chest up out of the shot.

As the guitar strummed in-between the first half and second half break, the lights behind Sami illuminated in a rhythmic pulse that quickly swiped from left and right, fading out at nearly the exact same time it took for the sound of the guitar to fall mute, the sounds of the crowd slowly growing as they cheered through the first verse.

Can't think, It's a mess with or without your help
Time is up, we can have a toast
It's my sweet release, started feeling free

The camera cut to a waist up shot of Sami Noble, slowly pulling out as the lyrics began to pick up a stronger punch and so did a subtle bass pluck was audible in the track, the same rhythmic pulse of the red colored lights behind her flashing once more as the electric guitar strummed, the visuals behind her on the grand LED screens of the stage wall also began to gently react to the growing intensity of the music, and right before the drums kicked in to an ascending crescendo the camera switched to a side-line shot of the drummer who was now in full view, the white light illuminating him from below now starting to slowly flash in time with his high hats.

Once the lyrics reached the last line of the build up, the broadcast cut to a quickly zooming shot from a wide to a tight cut until it reached the peak of the song and the singer finished the line in full, the sudden silence prompting a cut the shot to a camera stationed just by the very front edge of the stage, three lights beaming down on the two accompanying players and Sami herself as the silence was filled by the rising cheer of the audience, whom also sought to whistle a few times during the short break. The visuals behind them switched from the iridescent red refractive style at the beginning of the song into a pitch black screen, doubling the lack of action but not before giving a short subtle glow of red right under where Sami was positioned right before the pre-chorus kicked in.

No nerve, with all that I have
And no sense, of what is right there
From now on, all that's on my mind
Is make it, make it, have to just make it

The sudden crash of strongly distorted electric guitar mixed with the clash of the drums, accompanied with the glitching red and white static of the stage behind them took the song out of the eerie silence as the broadcast now cut to the steadi-cam from the left which ran from behind the guitarist as it focused directly on both the instrument and player for a few seconds in a short-lived orbit before the camera swiped towards Sabi, who hastily made her way to approach the camera by the middle of the stage as it spun around her for a full three-sixty, facing herself towards as she switched her hand that held the microphone a few times to make use of the little space between her and the camera to motion at the viewers with quick gestures and eventually a push on the camera itself away from her before the operator simply accompanied her as she made her way towards a singular microphone stand that stood in the very front of the stage, accentuated by the checkered visuals on the floor that seemed to react to the song well with the background in red and white flashes.

Through the interstate I ran away
How I was too late to stay a day
And to make it right I try to
Take my damn time!

I passed on through like a bullet train
While I said goodbye like I had one night
And to make it right I try to
Take my damn time!

The theme of unpredictability and the erratic nature of the song itself spurred more than the likely share of camera cuts to the drummer and guitarist every time the singer sung the repeating lines one at a time after the short drum roll, her hands slipping the microphone into the handle of said stand as she used it to swing around herself before letting it rest once more where it stood, swaying left and right once in a while singing out the chorus, the lengthy microphone cable enduring a ton of tugging and pulling as she played around with the stand during the performance. The lights illuminated both the audience and the people sitting at the green room with a pulses that traversed the venue from front to back in a single line on each line.

Make it (la-la, la-la, la-la)
Make it (la-la, la-la, la-la)
Make it (la-la, la-la, la-la)
Make it, make it, gotta just make it!

The music fell quiet once more, with the only sounds being both the occasional rising cheer of the audience and the background voice of Sami, the lights dimming back to their standard pitch black status as Sami simply took a few steps back away from the microphone, the LED screens behind the trio relaying the same words through written means in a compact grungy text. After the short little interval, Sami was seen turning herself around and face away from the audience right before the singular spotlights above them also cut to black.

("Damn, that took a while")
("Ugh!")

In the same way that the introductory sequence of the song started, the sudden rash of the guitar and now more present drums filled the venue as the broadcast now bore a slowly approaching shot of a handheld camera shot towards Sami, who held the microphone on the stand with both of her hands clasped together, the singular starfield-esque audience which could be hardly seen past the darkness of the spacious venue surrounding all the space behind her. A slow zoom up towards her spanned during the entire length of the second verse, some isolated lights right above the audience pulsing in random order during every strum of the guitar in the same fashion of her second-half of the first verse, illuminating a good portion of every standing and sitting member of the audience, including the ones whom were standing.

I'm stuck inside and feel like I can't ascend
Christ, I'm twisted up in a den
There's no space, feels like just a race

Tomorrow's deals end up as my today's runs
All up next to my biggest plans
Can't keep it all simple, I'll have to climb up that damn tower

The lengthy one-shot now began to steadily pull away back from Sami as the pre-chorus began to play out, with the singer rolling her head back at the audience behind her as she took a turn around with the stand to face them once more, her hair messily falling over the sides of her shoulders as the lights and visuals on the floor started to slowly grow a more presentable flashing while the song grew, a strobe of white remaining to accentuate the increasing strength from the drummer.

No nerve, with all that I have
And no sense, of what is right there
From now on, all that's on my mind
Is make it, make it, have to just make it

The now shorted interval was quickly lightened up by the same strong crash of the two players, exaggerating themselves whilst they played as the singer started to reel back into the primary punch of the song, closing her eyes as he swung herself on her heels whilst holding the stand by the neck and taking the microphone out as she could hear the audience almost cheering louder than the very music itself, spurring an almost accidental slip up of her playful but yet serious expression with a small grin as she waved at everyone in the same hand motions and gestures she took during her music video, bringing out the particularly quieter and overpowered crowd into a stronger and more pronounced set up as some closest to the stage could be also heard singing along to her.

Nearing the end of the build up of the second half, the broadcast cut back to the same handheld camera shot from before - a tight-nit fisheye lens held with a considerable but yet manageable amount of handling that gave it just enough of an unsteady shake which accentuated the feeling of a handheld amateur camcorder- approaching the drummer from the sidelines of the stage.

Through the interstate I ran away
How I was too late to stay a day
And to make it right I try to
Take my damn time!

I passed on through like a bullet train
While I said goodbye like I had one night
And to make it right I try to
Take my damn time!

The camera moved from the drummer towards the guitarist for a few seconds, whom looked onward towards the camera as his hands erratically worked through the guitar, singing in synchronization with the singers repetitive vocal parts as the view panned over towards her, who held the stand in her left hand as she took notice of the approaching operator, pushing the stand right over as it fell onto the floor before quickly making her way towards the camera, putting her hand onto the side of the camera as she tugged on it closer towards the centermost part of the stage, sharing a quick glance towards the crowd and back at the camera as she let the loose white shirt swing around with her motions whilst the strobing red and white flashing light filled the venue.

The spark fountains lining the edges of the stage kicked to life as she began to sing the last four lines of the song, the camera beginning to move around her as she returned her focus towards the crowd, spinning herself around whilst the song reached its highest climax right at the end.

Make it (la-la, la-la, la-la)
Make it (la-la, la-la, la-la)
Make it (la-la, la-la, la-la)
Make it, make it, gotta just make it!

Make it (la-la, la-la, la-la)
Make it (la-la, la-la, la-la)
Make it (la-la, la-la, la-la)
Make it, make it, have to just make it!

The camera is thrown down onto the floor with a bounced roll as it caught the view of the guitarist who grazed the strings with all of his force, quickly tugging out the the cord out of his guitar a few seconds after the distorted sounds began to die on their own accord, the broadcast cutting to a TV static effect and the empty VHS blue screen until the sounds of the audience roaring up with applause and whistles were heard in the background, the camera now cutting towards Sami Noble and the other two accompanying players whom were giving each other a joyful hug as they waved at the audience.

"Thank you! Thank you Buaka! Thank you all!"

She couldn't help but glance once more towards the guitarist and drummer with a wide grin on her face as her oversized shirt swung around with her excited jumping. It definitely felt more like a dream than what she would've ever expected for something like this to feel, especially on this magnitude.

As Bestos ft. The Choir In Support Of A Null Point For Vartugia At Worldvision So The World Is At Peace Once Again And Hopefully Forever- The Song Vartugia Sends That No One Likes, And Will Get 6 Points Somehow

Donald J. Trump ft. January 6 Prison Choir - Justice for all
(Yes, you read the name right, he has his name in this song.)

Vartugia is next and you know the drill; they make some stupid song and then send them to WorldVision. Now they made a choir consisting of 68 inmates plus one as well. No one gives a shit about all of them, since let's face it, Vartugia will never win unless we send a banger by accident again making us leading WorldVision.

The stage is full of all 68 inmates plus our main singer. Positive images of Vartugia are shown in the background.

Vartugia is the proudest country on the earth
The paradise that everyone wanna move to
"And I swear loyalty for Teh Ruling Party forever"

The audience is shocked at how blatant the song is pro-Vartugia, and begins to boo.

We shall with might nuke the shit out of you
And make you a pile of gravel dust
"I swear to thy Party for what they stand for"

Nukes and rockets full of explosives
Going straight to your kindergartens awaits

A nation blessed by Teh Ruling Party
And their eternal leadership

We are too good for points
The greatest nation on planet need no point

The 68 inmates and As all shout Vartugia three times. This marks the entry is almost finished.

Vartugia! Vartugia! Vartugia!

This entry was a disaster.

Pete Ry
"Invincible"

Pete Ry’s eyes were wide open with shock and disbelief, IGBA just called him to represent Illdonya in WorldVision 106. He couldn’t believe his ears. Why him of all people, it could have been anyone else. But then he remembered. Back in WorldVision 105, IGBA managed to pull off a large National Final, called Illdonyafest 5: MAX COMPETITION. Pete Ry was competing with the song “Solar System”, a beautifully made song with amazing vocals. In the end of the competition he tied with Mia Kee’s “Final One” but unfortunately there could only be one person to represent Illdonya. As the final of Illdonyafest is based entirely on televotes, IGBA deemed that there was no good way to break the tie with the results only. IGBA then brought in the jury (which was used for the semi-finals) as well as music specialists, and people who specialize in WorldVision odds. They all decided that Mia Kee would do better by a landslide and could bring in Illdonya with a win. So, unfortunately for Pete, he was not selected to represent Illdonya in WorldVision 105. When the winner was announced, a few days later in a special 15 minute show called “Illdonyafest: TIE! Breaking”, Pete felt heartbroken, but he quickly forgot about it. He knew IGBA did it as a way to grab attention, Pete Ry was already TikTok famous and was definitely more popular than Mia Kee, giving Mia Kee the spotlight would allow IGBA to have more “famous singers” that they can later use for advertising or a way for them to perform in Illdonyafests in the future. He knew that new artists like Mia would feel in debt to IGBA and therefore will gladly perform and will help get IGBA those “connections” it desperately needed. He never thought of IGBA as a corrupt broadcaster but he soon realized why this is. Ever since WorldVision 100, IGBA has been in complete disarray, thanks to the previous CEO, George Craig. George Craig was quickly fired for the lack of completion of goals before the deadline. The new CEO, Cheryl Moore, is trying her best to bring IGBA back into shape, (and it is working), but the broadcaster still remains in chaos. Moore had to do a lot to get IGBA’s reputation back up, which includes bringing new artists to the spotlight. There is a reason why the tiebreaker show was fifteen minutes long—IGBA desperately needed money and had to premier a fifteen minute long show where the hosts just ask random people on the street who they think will win the tiebreaker. Despite Pete Ry hating all this corruption and greed, he still really wanted to perform in WorldVision, he knew IGBA wasn’t the most corrupt broadcaster and he knew he had to live with it if he wanted to represent Illdonya. Pete always loved WorldVision ever since he saw Illdonyan Maria Manza participate for the first time with the debuting nation of Illdonya. He knew he wanted to perform on the big WorldVision stage, it felt like it was his destiny.
When WorldVision 105 came along, IGBA was extremely disappointed. Mia Kee had done extremely poorly, placing only 26th, and flunks in the televote. Many people complained that her staging was poorly executed, dull and the performance was quite boring. IGBA, afraid to hold another National Final for WorldVision 106, decided to select internally and choose Pete Ry, the runner up in the National Final in the last edition. When he heard the news he was shocked but after remembering what had happened recently, he remembered why he was chosen. And no, it wasn’t because he was the runner up. It was because he was decently famous. As a person who managed to achieve 2.3 million followers on TikTok, he would bring a lot of viewers to Illdonya, making IGBA get more money from advertisements. But that wasn’t the sole reason he was chosen. He would be the first male vocalist to represent Illdonya in the WorldVision Song Contest. This would help bring in more viewers and a more diverse audience instead of having girls who sing “screamy” songs as a Mr. Xian commentator described it. Not only will it bring diversity in terms of audience, Pete Ry is of Sudanese descent as his parents were Sudanese refugees escaping the Second Sudanese Civil War. This will help IGBA show its diversity and will seem to “look better” and appeal to more audiences. Pete knew this, and he despised it at the bottom of his heart. But nevertheless, the positives outweighed the negatives, so he still accepted to perform in Buaka, South Batoko. Pete noted that IGBA wasn’t as bad as others notably, Wait, We have a broadcaster? from Placely Placington or rrrW from Robloxian Robloxia. Pete knew all of this, yet he kept going, he needed to fulfill his dream.

Pete Ry (Birth name: Peter Ryland) is a famous Sudanese-Illdonyan singer-songwriter that was born in rural Yololand (alternatively called Yiyang-Zhou or LLorolandia) in the town of Eonkíso and is 23 years old. He has no siblings and he doesn’t know any other family members other than his parents. His parents were asylum seekers/refugees who were granted a refugee visa. At the age of 3 years old he was granted Illdonyan citizenship through the Illdonya Refugee Citizenship or Minors Act (IRCMA). At the age of 5 he began learning how to play guitar and piano through the Music For All—Illdonya program and was considered a prodigy. His parents passed away in an accident while hiking when he was 18 years old, and because of this he wrote a song called “Dear Parents” which became popular on TikTok. He began releasing snippets of his songs on TikTok which continue to grow in popularity. He released his first album when he was 20 years old titled “Pete Ry needs a life”. From then on he released many more albums, famous ones include “No, please” and “For Eta: A love album”. His most famous songs are “Help me, please”, “Laughing gas”, “Revolutioner”. Pete Ry has toured across the world but has never been to Buaka, and is excited to go. He said “I heard from friends that Buaka is a magical place and I feel so blessed that I will be there soon”. Despite what seems a positive outlook on life, Pete Ry has been diagnosed with PTSD after seeing his parents die from the hiking accident. Pete tends to talk about his parents in his songs but refuses to talk about them in interviews, it is an extremely sensitive topic to him. Though when talking to reporter Sarah Hatoff, he said that his parents are the one who thought of his stage name as they thought it was cute. Because of this, he holds his stage name very close to him especially since it can remind him of his parents. He said to Sarah Hatoff that “I use the stage name to help me endure, everytime I hear it, I think of my parents, but because I hear it so often, I have to learn to bear the pain”.

Pete has this song (“Invincible”) close to heart. When talking about this song to various reporters, he stated that this song represents the Illdonyan fight for independence from the British, Spanish, and Japanese. He uses it as a way to convey that people can work together to achieve great things as well as ways to cope with loss. Even though Pete’s parents are immigrants he is very culturally Illdonyan and he considers himself a strong nationalist. This song also has another meaning regarding self worth and familial love, hence the title “Invincible”. Pete Ry says that this song has a hidden reference to his parents but he has not explicitly mentioned where and what it is. Many rumors and theories say that when he says “Diamond Jade” it is a personal belonging that Pete Ry or his parents had. This song will be released as part of his new album “Power and Magic” which includes his Illdonyafest song “Solar System”.

At Buaka, South Batoko
[OOC Note/Trigger Warning: This part does get dark. Read with caution (Contains attempted suicide)]

Pete landed in Buaka, at 10:30 at night. He noticed the shimmering lights of the building around him. Once he leaves the airport, he takes a taxi to a park that his friends recommend. On the ride to the park, he feels a pang of guilt strike his body. “I shouldn’t be here,” he thinks “This isn’t for me; I don’t deserve this”. Growing up, Pete was very poor, many of his friends at home never had any money. All they could do was dream about going places, but they never could. Pete thinks of all the poor people in the world and how fortunate he is. It still feels awkward being privileged, he wished his parents could see it. He sat in the taxi as a teardrop fell from his eye. “No, I shouldn’t cry like this,” he whimpered to himself “I have to be strong,” He struggles to contain himself, but it gets worse. He thinks of his parents and how they died. He reimagines them slipping and falling off a vista point down to their demise. “It’s all my fault,” he murmurs. Pete musters up energy to exit the taxi, and Pete takes a walk around the pretty park in Buaka. It calms him down temporarily and lets him have a little bit of peace. He hails another taxi, but this one is for the hotel. Pete checks in and falls asleep on the bed; he was extremely tired.
Pete wakes up screaming, he had just relived the tragic event in his sleep. His best friend, Aaron Pani, says “Dude, you had another one of those dreams again did you? I heard you screaming ‘DON’T GO ON THE HIKE’. I hope you’re ok.” “I’m fine,” Pete responds. Aaron quickly brews some Jasmine tea and serves it at a perfect temperature. The warm drink soothes Pete, as Aaron has dealt with millions of times. Feeling slightly depressed, Pete gets up and goes down to the lobby and grabs breakfast. Ping! Ping! Ping! Pete looks down at his phone to look at the messages. His hand starts shaking and his eyes pop open in horror. He couldn’t believe his eyes. “NOOO!” Pete screams, “How is this possible!” Aaron quickly shoves Pete back into the elevator to prevent commotion. Pete yells “Queen Eden Alene is dead! So is our President and Vice President!” He continues yelling in disbelief “And then an attack on embassies!! MY COUNTRY COULDN’T HAVE GONE THROUGH THIS”. Aaron shoves Pete back into his hotel room as Pete is sobbing his head off. Pete heard the terrible news, he couldn’t believe this happened to his glorious country. His nationalist feelings were filling him with anger, but then sadness. He felt that it was all his fault. He wasn’t there to protect his country, and he didn’t protect his parents either. He thought deeply, “I must be the problem,” he said to himself. By now he had stopped sobbing although there were still tears slowly dripping from his face. Suddenly, Aaron stated “I’m starving, I’m going to get breakfast, I’ll be right back”. “This was the perfect time,” Pete thought. When Aaron shut the hotel room door, Pete quickly grabbed a bedsheet. He twisted the bed sheet so that it felt almost exactly like a rope. Pete carefully tied a loop with the bedsheet and then tied the bed sheet to the ceiling fan. He grabbed a chair and stood on it while poking his head through the loop made by the bedsheet. He was about to kick the chair away when… “STOPPPPP!!” Aaron was back. Aaron dropped all the food and quickly raced to untie Pete. “Don’t. Just leave me.” Pete said. Aaron quickly said “Remember why you’re here?”. Pete thought for a moment, and realized that he was here for the WorldVision Song Contest, his dream and passion. Aaron spoke softly and said “You’ll do great out there on the giant stage, go make ‘em proud.”

Performance

Pete Ry remained calm. Today was the day. He was still recovering from the breakdown he had a couple of weeks ago, but he was ready to perform. He hoped this song would shed light on the deaths of the Queen and the President & Vice President of Illdonya. He needed that validation. He needed to prove his country. He feels sweat dripping down his chin. He needed to remain calm, he can’t have another breakdown. It isn’t the time for one. He’s done several big venue performances but this one was the most personal. He takes a breath and calms his mind. “I will do outstanding,” he told himself. The chaotic Vartugians leave the stage, Pete refuses to congratulate them. “It’s common knowledge to not congratulate Vartugians after their song” said one of the backstage workers, “They're too chaotic and evil, some are just plain silly.” Pete giggled for a moment, that bit of laughter helped clear his mind from all the expectations and worries he put on himself. Illdonya’s postcard starts to play, and Pete feels very patriotic when the flag is shown.

Pete Ry walks on stage with a tight blue shirt and a white jean pants. The crowd roars, there seems to be a lot of Pete Ry TikTok fans out here. Pete stands in the middle of the stage where there is a mic stand. The lights dim and there is only a spotlight shining on Pete. The LCD screens on the floor display a thin circle around where Pete is standing. Pete grips the mic stand with both hands and then starts to sing. In the first few lines, Pete’s mouth is really close to the microphone but by the third and fourth lines, Pete’s mouth is further away. The camera zooms in very close to Pete’s face, then quickly cuts to a camera on the right side of the stage. On the third line, it zooms back onto Pete’s face.

This is our fight, all through the night and day
Our bonds' stronger than a diamond jade
We only learn that there is love and hate
But in fact it's all complex emotions

Pete removes his hands from the mic stand and starts doing various gestures. One gesture is where he clenches his fist and moves it upwards. The camera starts zooming out to show Pete’s entire body. The LCD screens on the back wall and on the floor start flashing with the beat and the thin outline of a circle fills itself in with the beat, shooting bands of expanding blue circles. The spotlights up above are blue and flash in a way so that it looks like there is a line moving back and forth. At this point, two male dancers show up behind Pete Ry and they all do synchronized gestures. Pete Ry is pouring his heart and soul into the song and it's evident as his facial expressions seem so real that the audience doesn’t know if he’s actually feeling that way. In reality, Pete feels fine, in fact, he feels overjoyed that he gets to perform in the WorldVision Song Contest.

We all try but the war's too big
And we try things we can't undo now
From the heart you just have to dig
for unknown feelings of love

Then the chorus comes in. The camera circles around Pete and his dancers who are all in this one dark blue circle. Pete and his dancers do a dance move where they act like they are spinning an invisible planet in the air. The background LCD screen shows pulsating blue everywhere and somehow many of the audience members find it aesthetically pleasing. When Pete Ry says “Invincible” the camera circles around the stage and Pete and the LCD screens make an effect to make it seem that they are spinning. The audience cheers loudly and Pete tries to suppress a smile. He feels great, this is what he’s done to prove that he is truly worthful. Just in that slight moment, he forgot who he even was, and he felt that he was one with the music.

We can all be
Like a forcefield shield that is heating over the day
We can all be
Like a platinum heart that is sealing all of the pain
Invincible
Invincible

The next verse comes on and Pete goes back to gripping the mic. All the staging effects go back down but the pulsating blue as well as the pulsing circles circles. The camera comes back to zoom in on Pete’s face. Somehow the dancers seem to have disappeared again, though actually the dancers just are dancing off camera, so those watching at home can’t see it. When Pete sings “Seeing the death of our greatest names.” The blue spotlights that were making a sort of line that went back and forth started up again. Pete Ry remembered who he was, and he thought of his parents and what they had sacrificed. Pete suddenly felt extremely guilty. He suppressed his feelings as much as he could and tried to force emotions. Luckily, the audience didn’t seem to notice one bit and kept cheering.

We fear the night coming through the day
In seven hours it'll* be midnight phase
Seeing the death of our greatest names
There's a darkness power that gifts us strength

*sung as one syllable

As the pre chorus is sung, more and more elements of the staging are brought back into the song. The dancers reappear and are doing the same intense, emotional gesture that they were doing before. Many of the audience members start clapping with the beat. The camera pans and shows both dancers and Pete. Then the camera zooms out to show the rest of the audience, many of whom are cheering and singing along. Pete still felt guilty and that feeling didn’t seem to go away anytime soon. The camera zooms back in to show the three and then cuts to the left side of the stage where it pans from the back to the front. The camera zooms back again, and with perfect timing, a singular tear falls from Pete’s eyes. Pete has never cried on stage before. He tries to suppress it and he successfully acts extremely naturally.

We all try but the war's too big
And we try things we can't undo now
From the heart you just have to dig
for unknown feelings of love

When the chorus hits, Pete feels a lot better. Pete personally, loves the chorus of this song and thinks that it is a very impactful chorus. All the LCD flair is added back with the electrifying circle and the bokeh effect. Pete raises his hands slowly like he’s talking to the gods. Pete and his dancers still do the dance move where he acts like he spins an invisible planet when he says “Invincible”. To add as an extra effect, Pete does a nice “Ooh” that matches with the melody. Pete is back into the “zone” and again feels like he is part of the music. He resists the urge to smile excessively in order to keep the emotions that go along with the song, going. The camera still spins with the chorus and so does the LCD screen. The audience squeals with happiness.

We can all be
Like a forcefield shield that is heating over the day
We can all be
Like a platinum heart that is sealing all of the pain
Invincible
Invincible

Now the bridge plays. The LCD screen replaced the blues with orange, so all the bokeh and circles are now orange. This color of orange is more of an amber color, the exact same color in Lithuania’s Eurovision 2023 entry at the national final. The camera starts up close, then zooms out further and further. Pete Ry and his dancers raise their hands and start clapping above their heads along with the beat. Pete also likes this part of the song, all his negative feelings are gone. He feels like he properly represented his country (despite all that drama). The spotlights are now flashing that amber color along with the beat and the audience seems to be going crazy. When Pete Ry says “As one” he opens up his palms and kind of hits them in the air as if there is an invisible drum right in front of his face.

All our power is
In our blood like this
Feeling happy through, todos juntos yes,
愛就是力量, it is togetherness
We can restrike, as one, as one, as one

Now the bridge and the chorus start to merge. When Pete Ry says “We can all be'' he raises his hands at the tempo of the song. The camera scrolls up to show Pete’s hands and then zooms to show a random audience member. Also everytime Pete says “We can all be” the LCD screens on the floor and on the wall start to show little bits of blue. Some of this blue is in the form of sparkle, bokeh and circles. The dancers are still clapping with the beat. The camera quickly pans to each dancer then it pans up. The camera now zooms out to show the entire stage while Pete and his dancers are all synchronized in terms of their moves. The audience cheers again.

We can all be
(All our power is in our blood like this)
(Feeling happy through, todos juntos, yes)
We can all be
(愛就是力量, it is togetherness)
(We can restrike, as one, as one, as one)

The chorus plays again, but this time, there is 50% blue and 50% amber in the LCD screens. The spotlights that were making a “line” move back and forth now had two lines, one was blue while the other was the nice shade of amber. The camera did the spin again, and Pete and his dancers did the “planet spinning” dance move. Pete felt so much better, he was really getting into it now. Since this part doesn’t need too much “expression” he smiled naturally and it fit perfectly with the song. Pete continues to say the melodic “ooh” right after he says “Invincible”. The audience screams and cheers.

We can all be
Like a forcefield shield that is heating over the day
We can all be
Like a platinum heart that is sealing all of the pain
Invincible
Invincible

It is the last verse of the song, and Pete knows his whole experience is coming to an end. All of his memories made from this trip, the good, the bad, will all soon be in the past. He cherished this moment as sung the last verse. The dancers continue clapping as it is like a replay of the bridge. The LCD screens still flash with the beat and still display half blue and half amber. The camera pans up slowly while zooming in to show Pete’s face before cutting to show a birds eye view of the stage. The viewers at home can see a large Carrelie flag flying near the front of the stage.

All our power is
In our blood like this
Feeling happy through, todos juntos yes,
愛就是力量, it is togetherness
We can restrike, as one, as one, as one
Invincible

And that was it. The song was over just like that. Pete’s was amazed it went so well. He felt so many emotions all at once yet he still carried on. Pete yells in the mic “THANK YOU, I have created so many memories here! Thank you Buaka!” The audience cheers extremely loudly, and there are many Illdonyan flags flying with excitement. He had done it. He had made his country proud. But there was definitely something that he was sure of, he would’ve made his parents proud, especially if they were still alive. Pete walked off stage where he was greeted by the South Batoki performers. They wished them good luck and he walked off for the green room.

愛就是力量=Love is power
Todos juntos=everyone together

5. South Batoko
Lila - Весна (Spring)
Title transliteration: Vesna
Tune: UA - 情熱

THE ARTIST
Image
Lila Japirakan (Лила Жапиракан) is a South Batoki singer and actress. Born on February 17, 1999, she grew up together with her mother, father and older sister in Buaka. During her university years, she started making music as a way of coping with the stress she felt. Her music quickly spread around campus, making her a bit of a mini-celebrity within the school. She released three mini-albums during this time, which ended up also garnering success outside of the UoB. She currently holds a chart record: her chart debut, Нур ми да (Nur mi da; Light in Me), stayed in the top 100 for 107 weeks, longer than any other chart debut in South Batoko ever. Now, with a degree in Mathematics and Education and her new hit, she's ready to represent South Batoko at the 106th WorldVision Song Contest, conveniently held just about 3 miles from her apartment.

THE PERFORMANCE

On stage, a small forest of trees still spaced out enough for the audience to see inside, pink with cherry blossoms, is laid out. The LED screens complete the spring forest look. Lila is leaning against one of them, together with another man. She is wearing a long black dress decorated with black lace, while the man is wearing a slightly pinkish white suit. The camera is set in front of her. As the music starts, she and the man start walking under the trees, the camera moving back accordingly. She moves her arms in various ways to the beat.

She and the man stand still. They start dancing together, Lila sometimes moving her hands in accordance with the movements described in the lyrics.

Lila goes to the other side of the tree to the left of her and starts stepping around. She does some small twirls with her dress.

She enters a more open area, the man quickly following. The camera shot changes to show several dreamcatcher-like structures with cardboard cutouts of birds on them hanging above the clearing. The two look at them. In the second part, they look at eachother, after which the man kisses her on the cheek. He then picks a fruit off of one of the trees and gives it to Lila.

She walks forward, without the man this time, towards the satellite stage. She does even more twirls this time.
Я садеџ қал бам бир

Тамаш плошит шалшақ да

Демалинб шөп жашил да
Редк бултин аста
Қал банб бир деф таг
Кер банб бип деф таг
Саџ бир весна таг цам ти

She sits down on the satellite stage (sorry, FantaWorldVision users!) with a melancholic yet hopeful look on her face. Every so often, she checks the watch on her wrist. During the last line, she runs backs towards the man, the camera following her.
Коґ весна битит
Я күтєм қајкердет қајдеф сен би
Чезєм волмё да при усияктор телики
Биқ коґ то ґүл бирин ачит жапрақи, а-а
Изкеєм кероб весна боц, саџ сен ти

The two start dancing more energetically now. Lila swings her arms around, managing to throw and catch the fruit several times. The camera spins around the two.

She looks at the man and takes his hands in her.
Я садеџ қал бам бир

Қал банб бир деф таг
Кер банб бип деф таг
Саџ бир весна таг цам ти

As she sings the final ad libs of the song, she starts twirling again, before going back to the man again and dancing with him again, walking under the trees again, picking more fruit, etc.

As the music fades out, she shouts "THANK YOU! СПАСИБО!" to the audience. The audience cheers loudly, after which Lila and the man start helping the crew pack the staging up, so that the next act can start their performance...

I just want one
Endless spring
A thousand flowers open
Fully through the day
That smell, so fresh
That warm air
I will experience it with you

We walk together while smiling
In our own world
The sun shines gently
Into my face
We're so happy
We're free
It's the time of (our) life for us

Cherry blossoms
Fall down softly onto the road
A warm breeze goes through my face while we walk slowly under the rose-coloured trees
We see each other, we smile, we get lost in each other's eyes
The colour of your cheeks
That red tells me everything I need to know

I just want one
Endless spring
A thousand flowers open
Fully through the day
That smell, so fresh
That warm air
I will experience it with you

We walk together while smiling
In our own world
The sun shines gently
Into my face
We're so happy
We're free
It's the time of (our) life for us

Hundreds of birds fly overhead
To a warm place in order to rest tonight
They sleep silently until "Good morning to you" is said by the sun
We hear the sound of their squawking, their song wakes us up
We kiss under the glow
Our love makes a sycamore tree blossom

I just want one
Spring with you
The snow melts away
And leaves only green
A droplet splashes in a puddle
Under a big tree
With little sounds

Butterflies flutter
In the azure sky
We rest on the green grass
Under a sparse coverage of clouds
I want it one more time
I need it one more time
Just one more spring with you

When spring ends
I will wait until it returns to us again
I will long for it in my room for 304 days
But when that first flower opens its leaves, ah-ah
I will come out to experience spring, only for you

I just want one
Endless spring
A thousand flowers open
Fully through the day
That smell, so fresh
That warm air
I will experience it with you

We walk together while smiling
In our own world
The sun shines gently
Into my face
We're so happy
We're free
It's the time of (our) life for us

I just want one
Spring with you
The snow melts away
And leaves only green
A droplet splashes in a puddle
Under a big tree
With little sounds

Butterflies flutter
In the azure sky
We rest on the green grass
Under a sparse coverage of clouds
I want it one more time
I need it one more time
Just one more spring with you

Unnamed artist-Qantas in song

Hopping from sydney to london
then New York and not ohio
It's qantas the airline of the free (no,that's Jetstar)
They say "we don't crash our planes'
Even when the autopilot is suicidal (hey!)

from the Queen of the skies to the A380
we flew them all, round the world
we don't crash our planes
even when we lose both engines over the pacific
or lose one wing of engines in singapore (HEY!)

Projects sunrise, connecting aus to the world
with under capacity A350s giving 240 people jetlag
We should've chose 777X's or Dreamliners
they give us more seats to fill

we were idiots ordering the a380,the 747-8 would've been a better choice
but we couldn't choose,so we got the white elephant (hey!)

During the performance, he was constantly pelted by shoes. We also held him at gunpoint to make him sing it. We also forced him to dance for it.

09 Uthossia #UTH
Eha Sisask — “Sõja võita

Music: Jakov Vrban, Elčins Ādamsons
Lyrics: Runno Meri, Eha Sisask
Tune: Heilung - Anoana

Image

After managing to garner a total of 189 points and achieve a fourth place result in the 105th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest in Malta Comino Gozo for their début and first-ever performance, the entirety of Uthossia, watching and tuning into the live program as it aired on their television sets that fateful night, were overjoyed and rendered unable to speak; shocked in a good way. Uthossians never would have expected what would happen: that they'd place in the upper half of the top ten alone in their first participation. They initially didn't even think that they'd secure a result that could anchor their country onto the left side of the voting board! For them, Kamilė's performance was truly exceptional, and she truly deserved the right to represent their country at WorldVision, although they knew not to expect anything. Expecting a high result was a thing not to do, especially for people of a debuting country like Uthossia, and would only lead them to becoming very disappointed in the end. They also weren't generally that nationalistic or patriotic, and all they needed wasn't a top ten result, but rather Kamilė trying her best to show the world, er, worlds, that Uthossia, although small, contains a very creative, a very musically-talented population full of diversity. That Uthossians celebrate differences, and believe in the motto "united we stand, divided we fall". Kamilė was furthermore chosen to sing in Lithuanian, which was pretty much a language of an ethnic minority in the country, for their début. It aided her in successfully conveying her intense emotions for her performance on the Għain stage, and to focus instead on delivering the song's demanding vocal work.

After the Uthossian performance ended with a bang, the audience, Uthossian or not, at home or anywhere else, burst into simultaneous applause. Virtually every attendee at the grandiose WorldVision party and début celebration night in Uthossia's biggest stadium, the Tartu Stadium, gave her an appreciative standing ovation; their consecutive claps resounding, their screams of acclaim, their bravo's and wow's echoing. The crowd was going crazy, the last occurrence of a crowd reaction this big being when Uthossia gained independence from the Soviets' firm grasp and forced influence onto their cultural identity and society. To compare, Uthossia wasn't a seasoned participant when it comes to WorldVision, but everyone seemed to agree that her vocals and staging were spectacular. Even when not caring about their final results, people were still a bit nervous, a bit uneasy about how would it all turn out, their efforts? In the case of a very low placing, would KTP choose to not continue participating in the succeeding editions, leaving their single poorly-received act as their only result? The ordinary plebeians wouldn't be ashamed of getting a low result, putting into account that it was their début, but they knew full well that KTP was going to be so. However, all of their worries faded away, or at least diminished in intensity when Northern Beepee, the first country voting, announced the receiver of their glorious douze points: "UTHOSSIA!"

Kamilė went on to receive two more douze points, from Tummylandia and Susistan and the host country, Malta Comino Gozo, respectively. Uthossia placed fourth with the juries, being given 98 points, and received another 91 points from the audience's televote, the country's vote-counting culminating at a massive 189 points total. It indeed was massive, at least for Uthossia; a myriad of people actually supported them and voted for their entry in their début. Albeit not winning the entire competition, every Uthossian was incredibly happy that day, ultimately making its way into official recognition as a national holiday. "Kamilė Nomeikaitė Day", as the government named it, became a date of nationwide celebration, and was yet another thing that united the nation's people; another thing that united them, by their differences. Although Kamilė only placed fourth, being beaten by winner Carrelie, the Alezian Union, and host country Malta Comino Gozo, her WorldVision song, "Kodėl?", went on to top the Uthossian weekly charts at number one, and enjoyed widespread fame in her home country and beyond, especially in the proximal Baltic region. She had only started touring in nearby countries such as Estonia, Latvia, and Finland, the tickets selling out especially in her two concerts in Tallinn and Narva. In a recent interview with her, she remarked that she was very satisfied that her fellow Uthossians were pleased with her now critically-acclaimed performance and overall results, and that KTP had asked her to be Uthossia's spokesperson for the upcoming 106th edition of the contest, to which she wholeheartedly agreed.

KTP then officially selected Kadadoj's third and fourth edition winners Runno Meri and Eha Sisask, respectively, who had just recently formed the Nordic folk duo Sõjajumalad, their name meaning "gods of war" in the Estonian language, to be passed down Kamilė's privilege and responsibility to represent Uthossia at the next edition of the WorldVision Song Contest. The duo was very happy to learn they'd been given the right to show off Uthossia's talent at the multiversal stage, and immediately proceeded on composing, writing lyrics, as well as producing and filming the music video for their song. However, halfway into the duo's song production process, Meri, the duo's male vocalist, was reportedly diagnosed with an undisclosed medical condition, and therefore announced his hesitant withdrawal from the competition. He had allegedly expressed his worries and made an agreement with Sisask for her to represent Uthossia alone, while he would remain to provide male backing vocals for the song. Eha, although saddened by the fact that Meri, her childhood friend, won't be able to perform on-stage with her anymore, still remarked that it was her utmost pleasure to have a chance to make her fellow Uthossians back at home really proud. Finally, after a début with an emotional power ballad that resonated with many, Uthossia was willing to take risks for their second-ever participation, sending an entry belonging to an entirely different genre: Nordic folk. For sure, the viewers who loved the country's song last edition would be at least a little bit shocked with the variation and drastic turn of genre, but KTP knew that the WorldVision game wasn't about playing it safe, but rather about making the risk. But would it be that worth it? Could Eha, a lifelong WorldVision fan given the most coveted opportunity to represent her home country, possibly continue Kamilė, her predecessor's, astounding legacy and top ten placement in the contest for another edition as well? And… who exactly was she?

Eha Sisask
Southern Estonian singer-songwriter and designer Eha Sisask was born on the 24th of April 2000 and raised in the small village of Lümandu, Paide Province, one short kilometer away from the open Estonian border in Uthossia's extreme north, to counselor Alvar Sisask and environmental scientist Elena Krauszer, whose family has had long roots with the original Baltic German and Scandinavian communities off Uthossia's western shores. Known in the past by her former stage name hasimaa, she has been a member of the world-famous local folk chorale meLÕOKEdijad.

The ever-so-curious Eha, growing in a home in the countryside completely surrounded by nature, had been drawn to and enchanted by various forms of folk music from all around the world, and especially from the Nordics, from a very young age. Feeling very close to the nature around her, as well as the elderly people's collective chanting which she frequently heard outside and listened to, she spent hours and hours of devoted hard work alone in her bedroom learning throat singing and traditional polyphonic singing. After discovering the then-young girl's raw talent, her primary school's head teacher in Music invited her to perform for the school at its establishment anniversary program. Since then, she had begun performing at other events and festivals in her vicinity, gradually honing her vocal skills and ultimately creating her very own techniques and styles in singing. She mostly drew from the usual elements found in traditional Nordic folk music, mixing them with well-known characteristics of songs originating from several genres such as modern pop as well as rock. For two years, while studying in secondary school, she was part of the youth folk choir meLÕOKEdijad before leaving in 2014.

After finishing high school in 2019, Eha made her choice to attend a music program at the Heino Eller Tartu Music College, pursuing a full-time career in music, and meeting fellow aspiring musicians and artists in the process. She began performing in various clubs in and around Uthossia's capital city, Tartu, building a quite large following and gaining enough attention from many club-goers for her authentic voice and skillful lyricism, perfectly encapsulating and successfully imitating the soulful and traditional essence of primeval Estonian folk songs. It was only a very short time that passed by before her talent was noticed by a major record label in Uthossia's A&R, to which she was signed almost immediately. Her first album Põhjalõuna, belonging to the folk genre, however, did unexpectedly badly. As a result, the record label pressured her into making a turn of genre to the then well-performing pop; her second album, and first under the name hasimaa, KissBite, turned out to be a massive commercial success, at one point even climbing up the ranks into becoming the country's new best-selling album. Quickly gathering a correspondingly gigantic fan base, Eha continued to make pop music since then, amassing thousands of YouTube subscribers and going on to drop record-shattering albums such as Charmer and pyokhu na dom

Until an unforgettable evening in March of 2021.

BREAKING NEWS: Pop superstar hasimaa admitted into Tartu hospital ER with severe sepsis; is in a life-and-death situation

Success… surely didn't come without its own challenges. Amidst her rise to nationwide fame, Eha contracted a bacterial infection, from which she got sepsis. Unbeknownst to her, her own health was on its decline, as her condition got more malignant over a very short time. Ultimately, she was rushed to an emergency room in the capital city; she was about to suffer a septic shock. This life-or-death occurrence threatened to take away her life and derail her most efforted-on career. However, with the timely response of doctors as well as emotional support from her family and friends, her inner courage and strength developed, and she was more determined than ever to overpass such a huge obstacle in life. She was announced to have recovered from her condition in a social media post on October of the same year.

[…] Since that close encounter with Death, I've been given another chance, a second shot at living my best life ever. I've finally achieved appreciation for life as it is […]
— Eha Sisask (@ehasisask), 7 October 2021

She had gained a new viewpoint on, as well as newfound appreciation for life; she discovered that she had to cherish it and do what she really wanted, because, according to her, “you could take your final breath when you least expected it”. On the 29th of October, she announced that she'd be leaving the mainstream pop music industry as well as her record label. With a renewed perspective on her own life, Eha instead focused on making folk music independently that felt much closer to her heart and soul, with even more passion. Rather than being pressured into making commercially-successful mainstream pop songs she didn't like at all, she chose to break from the so-called "chains" that once clutched onto her and make music that completely resonated with her, which rekindled the subtle but lingering fire within her heart; it marked the rebirth of her Nordic folk style, now mixed with various experimental elements. She stopped using her "pop" pseudonym hasimaa, altogether favoring to use her real name, Eha Sisask, for her experimental Nordic folk songs. “It felt so good to be myself”, she remarked in a recent interview, “it felt so good to do what I really wanted to do since long ago.” She dropped her first album as Eha Sisask again, VEEALUNE PEA., on 8 January 2022, her unique style now getting the traction it long deserved. For VEEALUNE PEA., she received various comments of acclaim from many critics from Uthossia and beyond, remarking that people should've appreciated Eha's traditional music much more early in her career. Eha then joined for the first edition of the renewed nationwide singing competition Tled U Kadata (previously called Kadadoj), amazing its juries as well as her audience, bringing her very strong stage presence.

Eventually, Eha won Tled U Kadata's first edition in a huge landslide, placing first above first and second runner-up competitors Vanesa Oñate and Isabel Briones, winning the audience's votes, and gathering a total score of 19 over the runner-ups' 16. After winning, she met Runno Meri, the winner of the previous edition of the singing competition, and became friends. Ultimately, they formed a musical duo, Sõjajumalad (Estonian for "gods of war"), characterized by their unique experimental Nordic folk sounds employing music from other cultures, such as Mongolian throat singing. The duo got very huge public support to be Uthossia's next entrants at the WorldVision Song Contest, praised for their very innovative contribution to the country's yet-developing music industry. On the 8th of March the next year, KTP announced that Sõjajumalad would be the Uthossian act at the 106th edition of WorldVision to be held in South Batoko, to represent the country with their song Sõja võita (Win The War), a song the duo had been working on for at least a month prior. However, two days after KTP's announcement, Runno Meri withdrew from the competition citing health concerns regarding his yet-undisclosed medical condition, leaving the humongous responsibility of representing Uthossia to Lümandu-native Eha, who is now set to sing her soul out for Uthossia's second participation in the WorldVision Song Contest to be held in Buaka, South Batoko, with her experimental Nordic folk song "Sõja võita".

“This might be one of the best experimental folk songs I've ever listened to”
— Kalins Pencis, Latvian musical critic

The bilingual song "Sõja võita" is a fierce experimental folk composition written in Estonian and Purnspark, an obscure dialect of German solely spoken in the hinterlands of Uthossia's South Estonian region, that relates the story of an alternate world of fantasy with a civilization under attack by malevolent creatures spearheaded by evil dwarves, creating a behemoth capable of destroying the world. After a long period of slumber, the monster had awoken, once again seeking to kill everyone else and conquer, thrusting the entire world into complete jeopardy. Left to their limiting situations with no one other than them selves being able to save themselves, they decide to take necessary action fighting the vile. Their battleground is stained a poignant red with blood, the people suffering many casualties from their futile struggles. However, they refuse to give up their chances of victory, vowing to fight until the end, 'til the only thing left is the menacing reminder of death, knowing fully well that their world's fate was now in their hands. A strong call-to-action, "Sõja võita" urges its listeners to stand up against the evil polluting their lives, expressing the fact that no efforts will ever be in vain when it's about protecting something you hold very close to your heart.

“Eha, wake up!”
“H-huh…? D-did I sleep?”
“Yeah, and uh…you've only got about fifteen minutes left before you go on-stage. Better start preparing now.”
“Okay, so…can I just go to the bathroom real quick? I'll come back as soon as I can.”
“Sure, just don't take too long.”

Eha swiftly ran towards the backstage comfort room, picking up her dress' train in order to prevent it from being wet, and closed the door. Eha donned the red bliaut dress she herself sewed, its edges being lined by traditional designs usually found on the very ornate Uthossian kosovorotka set on an overlaying white. Today was quite lonely, she thought, which was probably because of the pressure she'd been receiving from her country's delegation since she'd woken up. But what “waking up” was she even talking about? She didn't even sleep… She missed the comforting fluff of her hotel room's bed.

Eha looked up to the mirror in front of her and continued musing to herself. She didn't see her usual bright and carefree self in it, but rather a tensed and burdened face looking back at her. She frowned, standing motionless for a bit, before proceeding to wash her face in the sink. The faucet water was cleansing her sweaty forehead, when she suddenly felt a faint buzzing sensation from the hidden pocket of her dress' bodice; someone had messaged her. After drying her dampened hands using the towel she had with her, she reached out for her loin, her phone's active screen visible from the fabric's outside. Opening it with her fingerprint, a hopeful text message from her best friend flashed in front of her eyes.

wish you all the best, eha! ill be watching you on your turn

“Thank you,” was all she managed mustering to say with her voice. Her soft murmur preceded a deafening silence, Eha pondering on whether she should reply and with what, but in the end, time left her still indecisive. The comfort room's quietude was only broken when a janitor entered to mop the floor, greeting her enthusiastically before closing the door slowly behind herself. Eha shifted her focus from her phone's screen back onto the mirror, but she was then once again interrupted by another *ting!* — another message, which was now from her delegation's president:

Four entries left to go before you're next.

She looks back at the mirror again, sighing all her worries out. A little smile appears on her face, her temples easing out. Turning off the still-running faucet, she ponders for a little while more. “Can't even wash your face in South Batoko,” she groaned for the last time, cracking a cheesy joke, before leaving and rushing back for the ongoing preparations.

Eha was breathing heavily, and was trying to reassure herself that everything would end up fine. Her time to go on-stage was bloody near; the performance of the eighth country set to perform that WorldVision night, which was the Fatiman Federation, was about to end. From backstage, she could faintly hear the sound of the Fatiman performer's voice; she was singing in a language she couldn't understand. Her never-ending worry and feeling of dread was starting to kick in; she was simultaneously awaiting and fearing this fateful day, for the same reason as the Uthossian WorldVision 105 début entrant Kamilė Nomeikaitė did.

Would I do my country proud? Will my placing be enough?

A temporary moment of self-reflection was necessary for her; she mused about how her parents and friends, watching from home back in Uthossia, would feel and react after seeing her performance. Reiterations of her previous questions were encircling her mind: Will my family be proud of me? Will they support me whatever result I get? She was so unsure, yet also wanted so much to move forward and ignore all her worries. What should I do? What would happen?

But she also knew that the only way to answer all these questions was to overcome her fears for a while, and do it. After what felt like forever for her and her country's team, she finally heard the resounding notes and vocals stop rather abruptly. The head of delegation told her to breathe; to inhale and exhale. “Eha, you can do it! Perseverance is the only key to bypass all your worries and fears; these challenges and obstacles in life aren't going to solve themselves. Calm down, it's all going to be okay. You're a phenomenal singer. You've sang and practiced this song dozens of times. You've got this, so relax.”

Eha sighed, and her body lost its tension for a little while. Yeah, I really do need to relax. “I need water.”

The deep, low-pitched notes of the Uthossian postcard's background melody boomed, ricocheting all throughout the e-Hall. The audience was waiting for the country's entrant to come on-stage and join the many spotlights illuminating it. Eha and her three accommodating dancers enter the stage quietly barefoot, in a great contrast compared to the audience's resounding applause. However, the white shine they the lights were once giving off suddenly disappeared, and thus left the venue in utter darkness. The echo of the onlookers' clapping gradually stopped, ultimately being reduced inaudible, and the people were now ready to watch Eha perform and give out all she could, hoping to secure her country in a high placement for another edition of WorldVision, after the country's previous spectacular success in their début.

The song's introductory instrumental played for her performance's first 33 seconds, as all the various LEDs of the stage shone and flickered a striking white. The LEDs have a continuous series of off-and-on flashes alternating for every other second while the instrumental is playing. Meanwhile, the three folk dancers, all dressed in red bliauts like Eha's and clutching onto their traditional raw hide drums and wooden drumsticks, start to do the kvaria, the more popular and slower version of the traditional Uthossian perekrieka dance. Eha stands alone, closes her eyes and puts her arms out to her sides, her wrists level with her elbow. As the tension in rises, she slowly brings up her arms to above her head in a curved manner, but quickly brings her right arm back down grabbing hold of her microphone, just seconds before she starts to sing the song's first lines. The LEDs behind Eha stop flashing and dim once again, though the big screen behind her fades rather quickly into a visualization of a frigid and snowy environment characterized by its unmistakable pale blue hue. Before singing 'pü'dnud vallutada', Eha suddenly appears in front of the shot's camera seemingly from under its line of sight, her eyes closed, but opens her eyes just in time for the first stanza's last line.

Koletis on hauast tõusnud; on püüdnud tappa
The monster has risen from its grave (once again); it has sought to kill
Kurjade kääbuste töö
It is the work of evil dwarves
Hinged on üles ärganud; pü'dnud vallutada
Their souls have awoken (once again); it has sought to conquer
Maailm on suures ohus
(Our) world is in great peril

The song's first chorus kicks in, and the big LED screen behind Eha, which once portrayed her in a very cold backdrop, switched onto the pre-recorded visualization of a village in tall flames. The LED lights all over the stage give off reddish hues that help make the chorus' part seem more intense and dramatic, when juxtaposed with the rather dim lighting of the stage which only focused on Eha and her dancers. Eha's powerful voice, full of raw emotion, goes full-on animalistic as she chants. Zooming out of the four performers on stage at moderate speed, and then showing an overhead shot of them for the last line. However, for its a saame sõja võita portion, another camera instead focuses on Eha's face, capturing an abrupt close-up shot.

Va reta uus? Me võitleme nende vastu
Who will save us? We will fight back against them
Müs' etvas tuu, sest keegi ei päästa
We should do something (about it), for no one else is going to save us
Nad ei võita, sest võitleme nende vastu
They will not prevail, for we will fight back against them
Viet niet läät sää, a saame sõja võita
(It) won't be too easy, but we can win the war

For the upcoming verses, all sung in Estonian and intended to convey poetic descriptions resembling the manner of Uthossian traditional folk-storytelling, Eha's two male back-up vocals become more dominant than hers. Singing in a way that could be considered half-whispering, Uthossia's unique and primevally-spiritual performance managed to impress the WorldVision audience present at the South Batoki venue, and their loud cheering echoed all throughout. Eha joins the other performers in dancing the kvaria, full of force as she sang, as the LED screens behind them flash with intense black and white for the first half of the performance's "back-up vocal break". Afterwards, the LED screens turn to displaying a sanguine red, accompanied by the other reflectors shining lights of the same tint towards the center of the stage where they were located. The stage's overall red coloring is used to somewhat blend with the four's more vibrantly-red bliaut dresses, to great artistic effect.

Sa'da igast ri'gist, iga sõdalane

Sest me valmistume kä'buselahinguks
Because we are preparing for battle against the dwarves

Seltsime'ste laibad ja kõhklev lootus
The bodies of dead comrades and our faltering hope
A jätkame võitlust lahingus surmani
But we will continue to fight a battle to the death

The previous cascade of Estonian lines is sung once again, but now with much more intense emotion and passion. The back-up vocals' harsh yet engaging sounds had a little bit of growling, Runno's (one of the back-up vocalists) raspy voice in particular adding more and enhancing the fierce aura around Eha's performance. This time around, a similar pre-recorded clip of a village burning in deep-red flames is shown, but with Eha in the foreground. Showing no sense of emotion, she slowly turns her back off the camera and proceeds to walk away, closer towards the fire-engulfed houses. Furthermore, to provide idiosyncratic contrast with the visuals, panning shots seamed through contrast cuts of different angles exhibiting their almost-undisturbed nature's previously-peaceful and antebellum appearance are inserted, lush green leaves attached to forest tree's branches swaying as the wind blows. The green color of the leaves clash with the stage's reddish-hued LED lights, due to their nature being complementary colors. The contrast cuts also help to emphasize the real-world effects of war and violence, which lead to the ultimate destruction of the lives of different people and families. In her real performance, Eha closes her eyes and slowly advances for the satellite stage in small steps. Eventually, while she is walking, the screens turn solemnly black for a while, before coming back to life, displaying the text 'lahingus surmani' in white and in huge size, on the still-black background in the same font featured on the "Sõja võita" single cover.

Sa'da igast ri'gist, iga sõdalane
Fetch from every country, every warrior (you could find)
Sest me valmistume kä'buselahinguks
Because we are preparing for battle against the dwarves
Mere lõunakaldal li'v värvub punaseks

The bodies of dead comrades and our faltering hope

But we will continue to fight a battle to the death

An "instrumental" break, wherein Eha, in the pre-recorded audio, mimics the natural and instinctive howling of a wolf with applied alternating musical tones, succeeded the previous reduplicated verses. Slowly being surrounded by her three accompanying dancers, she slowly goes from having her head in a bowing position, her eyes closed, to fully having her face looking up, her hands stretched out towards her front. Shortly thereafter, the LED lights as well as the huge screen fall into a somber and dim black, in time for the moment when Eha resumes singing once again. Eha sings in a very softened and mellowed manner, in a drastic contrast to her performance's back-up vocals earlier's harsh-sounding rasps. She seems to be finally pleading her audience to join the war against the song's fantasy story's primary villains: the evil dwarves, who were the cause of all this commotion. Her voice is quiet, seemingly losing much of her remaining hope due to the massive losses and casualties being taken by her kin's soldiers and warriors. Looking a bit tired and stripped off her dignity based from her strained facial expressions, never having eye-contact with the camera, she sits down, positioning herself into reclining on the stage's floor, her dancers kneeling further between her and the stage's large LED screen. However, by the time the phrase gevina lasa arrives, clapping sounds could be heard in the song's pre-recorded audio, escalating in volume and intensity towards the end of the stanza's last line, announcing the return of Eha's and the people's optimism as well as determination to defeat the menacing evils and to change their future through their own perseverance no matter what would happen; they would rather die with dignity and honor than to be killed without fighting against their unworthy enemies.

Koletis on hauast tõusnud; on taas püüdnud tappa
The monster has risen from its grave; it has sought to kill once again
Kurjade kääbuste töö
It is the work of evil dwarves
Hinged on üles ärganud; vada niet gevina lasa
Their souls have awoken (once again); we won't let them win
Maailm on suures ohus
(Our) world is in great peril

Eha knew that her song was ending. She was extremely thankful that everything so far had gone really well, even better than she ever expected for her first big performance outside her own country. Heightening her voice's modulation once again, she tries to stand up while keeping her vocals nearly close to perfect. She stretches out her left arm towards her audience while her right hand clutches onto her microphone. Her dancers also regain their feet from kneeling, continuing to dance and sway their arms around, while their bliauts crease and fold under the LEDs' white lights. On the LED screen behind them, a sequence or montage of different faces, supposed to be the fierce and determined defending soldiers and warriors of the peoples' kin, are shown with the same burning village in previous clips reused as the backdrop.

With the coming of the song's last stanza, the big LED screen behind the performers is turned off and goes back into its blackened state, while the stage's spark fountains, lining its edges, are activated. Being bathed in the still-on spotlights' red illuminations with a now slight-white tint brought by the flying sparks, Eha pours all of her remaining vocal power with full effort onto her last notes. The male back-up vocals come alive for the last time, reiterating the earlier repeating verses, while Eha's dancers surround her while continuing their dancing. A variety of panning and zooming-out shots being employed in the song's dénouement, her performance finishes with a quick zoom-out, right as she says her final 'võita'.

Eha's performance had ended in a bang, and the audience present that time at the South Batoki venue erupted in congratulatory applause, and for some, complete with a standing ovation. Reuniting with her dancers, Eha runs towards them and gives them all a big hug. Uthossia's second-ever participation in the WorldVision Song Contest had just been executed flawlessly and successfully. Eha and her country's team cried of happiness from backstage, while on-stage Eha felt simultaneous emotions of happiness and exhaustion from exerting too much effort for the performance. The audience cheers for her once more, and some of her fans are seen waving the Uthossian flag, thanking her for representing her country very excellently. On the verge of crying, Eha almost didn't manage to shout thanks for her supportive audience, before walking off-stage for the Roosian performer to take her place.

“Thank you, Buaka! Aitäh and much love!”

StrayaRoos
SAJUNA-Firestorm

Jaguar Jonze-Little Fires

The results in Ghain were truly a coming of age for StrayaRoos in WorldVision, with LAURA's Go Insane being one of the dark horses coming into the event, then surprising everyone with 9th place. Now, the big question is, Who would represent StrayaRoos in 106 to try and follow up her success?

The Selection

When kit came time to select the entry rtvS was going to send to South Batoko, There were only three real options on the table, Vinia, Ali Naytu or SAJUNA,and they went with the third one, considering her sizeable overseas fanbase compared to the others, and the songs she had sent in were both good for a WorldVision audience, but Firestorm was a tiny bit better than the other song.

The Artist

To a seasoned WorldVision viewer, Sajuna needs very little introduction, with quite a few claims to fame, such as winning the first edition of Roovision, representing StrayaRoos in 96, and hosting the contest with Mat Jak in 103. Though since the release of Sharks, her music career has been going sideways, with only one song charting in the year since then, and several personal troubles, including losing her childhood best friend to cancer, and a messy family situation. With both of them combined almost made her quit her entire career in music.

The Song

Image

Firestorm is what was written by Sajuna when she was coming out of the grief and depression of the last year, with the song being described by some as the single that will be what everyone focuses on when she quits the industry, there are high hopes for it's performance at WorldVision to bring home another top 10 for the nation.

The Performance

The stage is lit in a dark orange, with Sajuna (who's wearing a simple white skirt and has a silver crown on her head) in the center of the stage, inside a wire cage, with a silky fabric carefully sewed onto the cage
Dark and heavy skies
A storm is on its way
The winds are picking up
As the clouds turn into flames

Once the word flames is sung, a fire is set off onto the fabric, eliciting a cheer from the crowd,as the camera starts to spin around the cage, making a ball of fire appear on the screens of viewers at home
Firestorm is coming, brace yourself
Burning everything in sight, leaving nothing unscarred
It's time to face the flames, no time for fear
Rise up from the ashes, let the fire clear
fire's like a living thing
dancing with the wind
It takes lives to fight
A battle it will win
Firestorm is coming, brace yourself
Burning everything in sight, leaving nothing unscarred
It's time to face the flames, no time for fear
Rise up from the ashes, let the fire clear

The chorus ends, and the bridge starts, and more pyro goes off in the arena, with various cannons of pyro around the arena being set off
Don't let it consume you
Don't let it bring you down
Stand tall and face the flames
Don't let the flames wear you as their crown

Once the final line of the third verse of the song is sung, the crown on Sajuna's head is lit up by a faux flame and the resulting view makes it look like her head is on fire (obviously)
Firestorm is coming, brace yourself
Burning everything in sight, leaving nothing unscarred
It's time to face the flames, no time for fear
Rise up from the ashes, let the fire clear

Rise up, rise up, let the fire clear
Rise up, rise up, let the fire clear.

the flaming headwear and cage are are extinguished, and Sajuna only has a few words for the crowd, as in tears she yells
"Thank you so much, to all of you out there, Thank you"

Dewi Maharani-"Bersuaralah"

Title Translation: Speak up
Language: Pemecutan Malay

Music: Dwi Putra, Setya Novrianto
Lyric: Eriana Putri, Kadek Okta
Tune: LYRA - Light Me Up

Pemecutan made a quick comeback to WorldVision Song Contest after their sudden absent in the 105 edition. In the 106th, the country managed to stay on their path in the top half of the competition. Although it was lower than the officials target of top 10 finisher. But staying in the top half have been a great achievement seeing how tight the competition recently. Following their success in 106th edition, GBC (Giri Broadcasting Company) as the broadcaster and WVSC media partner in Pemecutan decided that Pemecutan will be entering the 107th edition. And as usual, the entry selection was based on a combination of internal selection which release 10 potential songs. Then it went to online voting to decided the most favorited song based on the audience preference. And the winning song goes to "Bersuaralah".

"Bersuaralah" was release in week 7th of 1784 Pawukon year. It is sing by Dewi Maharani. The song was the her first single in her new album, "Angankan Nayata" which was released after Galungan festival. It was her 4th studio album in her almost a decade of career. Eriana Putri was initially asked privately by Maharani's producer to create the song. She work with Maharani and find the idea of an empowerment song. Something which rarely done by the singer. Maharani is known for her love song, breakup song and something in between. So this is a new challenge for herself and she was up for the challenge. Halfway through the lyric process, Putri contact her best friend, Kadek Okta to help her in the project. Putri who got mind block at the time, search for another perspective to create the lyric from Okta. Both of them then work together for the song. Fortunately, their collaboration was given a green light from the producer and Maharani herself. The progress of the lyric went well and the first reading came out a success. The producer then contacted Dwi Putra to help arrange the music for the song. They want something fresh from the artist in her new album. Dwi Putra used the first batch of the lyrics as the inspiration to create the music arrangement. But the first hearing was a failure as the producer find the music were too generic. Too common. The producer then set up Dwi Putra with another arranger. The name Setya Novrianto came out. Both musicians have been collaborated several times in the past. As the arrangement was being made, Eriana and Okta present the new set of lyrics based on the result from the first reading. A positive feedback was given by both the producer and Maharani. Both confirmed that the lyric is finalized. With that, they were now focusing on the music. Given the liberty, Novrianto made a bold decision to include a touch of Eirian music (Irish IRL) into the song. Dwi Putra, his teammate, was upset at first with the one-sided decision. But he try to compromise later after he knows that Maharani has an Eirian ancestors. The second hearing was a great success. And they decided to went forward by having a demo record for the song. The result was amazing. The producer is very pleased with the result and confirmed the song to be included in Maharani's new album.

Dewi Maharani

Sang Ayu Putu Dewi Maharani or famously known as Dewi Maharani, is Pemecutanian pop singer who was born in Jematang 32 years old ago. She has introduce to music from early age as her parents background is also as an artisan. Her mother is a professional traditional dancer. And her father is a music arranger. But she was struggle to sing at first because of her unique voice. She is an alto singer but has a very low note register compare to other alto singers. Her voice is also very thick. This also leads to her struggle in singing in her younger age. One time she was barred from singing for a year because of her vocal chord was damage due to constant singing. This was happened because of her intense practice. She could sing constantly for hours during her practice which made the damage in her vocal chord. Fortunately, the damage was not severe. And she is asked to not force her voice in singing higher note or she might not be able to sing again. She was devastated at the time because she was always wanted to reach higher note just like her idols.

Her father then encourage her to sing in her own vocal range and make every song as her own with her unique voice. She took her father advice and start to practice under a private singing tutor. Starting the age of 16, she try her luck by entering several singing contests. But she was never winning. The jury always amazed by her unique voice and timbre but it seems like it was not enough for her to win any contest. At the age of 21, she test her luck by entering the BRTV contest, Bintang Radio dan Televisi. She was success to qualified for national contest. But she was failed in the top 8. She was sad but after the contest, she was contacted by several producers and talent agents. They offer her a record contract. After consultation with her parents, she decided to took the contract from BMC Record. And with this recording company, she had produce 4 albums and more than 15 singles. She had her own concert tour which of course with a restricted schedule due to her vocal sensitivity.

And for the entry, the song "Bersuaralah" was composed by Dwi Putra and Setya Novrianto and written by Eriana Putri and Kadek Okta. The song basically encourage people to start to speak up of what they feel and don't hide their feelings especially their sadness and disappointment. "People often to hide away their feelings especially the introvert ones. They tend to try to resolved their own problems. I can see it with happening in some of my close friends. And I can say that it is not healthy. Even though you are an extrovert, introvert or ambivert person, sharing your feelings is something important. It breaks my heart to know that my friends are hiding their sadness and having a mental breakdown without anyone to support them. I know it might be hard to open up to someone else. But please don't closing up yourself," say Eriana Putri. The song was met with positive review from the critics. And it is a commercial success. It was opening at 24th position in Chakra Music Chart before climb up to 8th in its second week. Their top position was at 3rd. It stays in the top 10 for 5 weeks and it still currently hanging around in the top 50.

Dewi Maharani is waiting at the backstage while seeing the performance of Strayan delegation. It is a few seconds left before her time to performed. She shake her shoulder try to relax herself. She become a little nervous. It is a big stage after all. The audience give an applause as the Sajuna end her performance. They meet at the backstage and share a little smile. Dewi exhale deeply. "This is it," she murmuring. The stage goes black with the lights only comes from the LED which showing the postcard of Pemecutan as an introduction for the upcoming performance. As the postcard video ended, the stage become completely dark. While Marahani has standing in her position waiting for the cue. The downlight the spotted her from all direction. She is standing on the satellite stage wearing an elegant embroidery mermaid tail black dress. Her hair is left flowing. It is just given more volume and wavy look. A few piano note become the intro of the song as Maharani started to sing the first stanza. The camera show her close up face as she sing. It gradually zoom out before turned into the side view which showing the long tail dress which spreading behind her. The camera move and give a view from one side to another side as Maharani sing the second stanza. The music become more and more lively as she nearing the end of the second stanza into the bridge part.

Bisa kulihat senyummu disana
Terlihat bahagia tapi tidak nyata
Apa gerangan buatmu terluka?
Mari terbukalah
Bersuaralah

Engkau tertawa dengan lepasnya
Tapi terdengar menyayat telinga
Entah mengapa selalu kau pendam
Mari terbukalah
Bersuaralah
I can see your smile there
Looks happy but not real
What is it that made you hurt?
Let's open up
Speak up

You laugh loosely
But it sounds deafening
I don't know why you're always hiding
Let's open up
Speak up

The camera give another close up view as Maharani sing the bridge. We can see how she express her feeling following the lyrics in the part. As the music become more vibrant with the addition of violin, we enter the chorus. The camera turn to the main stage where around 20 dancers are lining up and perform an Eirian tap dance. The dancers are college students of Ubung Institute of Arts. For this performance, they have an intense practice to perfected their move and coordination. The LED show both the dancers and Maharani following her chorus singing. The dancers split to form two lines of 5 people nearing the end of the chorus until it stop at the end of the chorus. (Reference to the dance is here)

Pilu yang engkau punya
Bukanlah sebuah dosa
Janganlah engkau pendam
Hingga merusak jiwa

Lepaskan rasakan
Air mata mengalir
Biarkan membasuh
Duka didalam hati
Hilangkan semua
Beban yang trus mengekang
Hanyutkan, hanyutkan
The sadness that you have
It's not a sin
Do not be silent
Until (it) destroy the soul

Let it go, feel it
Tears flowed
Let (it) wash
Grief in the heart
Eliminate all
The burden that keeps reining
Wash (them) away, wash (them) away

The lights at the main stage are turn off again and the camera focus on Maharani as she sing the third stanza. She is standing firmly in her position with only slightly moving her hands to express the lyrics of the song. But everything is playing in how her face reacted. In the end she open wide both her hands as she sing "Mari berbukalah...." part to the end of the stanza.

Engkau termenung saat kau sendiri
Dan kau ceria disaat bersama
Janganlah pernah engkau sembunyikan
Mari terbukalah
Bersuaralah
You daydream when you're alone
And you (look) happy when we are together
Never hide it
Let's open up
Speak up

The violin come to accompany the music as Maharani enter the bridge part. The lights are also widen as the dancers are lining up at both sides of the tip of the main stage which connected to the satellite stage. They keep dancing lining up with the intricate foot dance. While Maharani getting more power in her voice as she enter the second chorus. The dance moved is also become more intense and firm.

Pilu yang engkau punya
Bukanlah sebuah dosa
Janganlah engkau pendam
Hingga merusak jiwa

Janganlah merasa
Engkau seorang diri
Disini temanmu
Setia menemani
Berbagi segala
Keluh kesah dihati
Ungkapkan, ungkapkan
The sadness that you have
It's not a sin
Do not be silent
Until (it) destroy the soul

Don't (you) feel
You are alone
Here your friend
Loyal (to) accompany
Share everything
Grief in the heart
Reveal (it) all, reveal (it) all

The lights are dancing around as Maharani enter the coda part. While the dancers enter the satellite stage. They are lining up encircling Maharani at the center. She belt her voice as she reached the "Teman..." part.

Kita semua
Pernah merasa
Kesedihan, kepiluan
Namun janganlah
Sampai terpendam
Menghapuskan bahagia
Terlalu lama
Engkau memendam
Sudah saatnya
Tuk ungkapkan
Mari bicara
Lepaskan beban
Kita semua butuh teman

Teman, teman
We all
Ever felt
Sadness, melancholy
But don't (you)
Let it buried
Eliminate the happiness
Too long
You harbored
It's time
To reveal
Let's talk
Let go of the load
We all need friends

Friend, friend

Maharani become more energize as she sing the chorus. The dancers are holding hands together encircling her while dancing with the intricate foot movement. The scene is captivating the audience as they are clapping their hand following the beat of the music. While the camera give a 360 degrees shot before flying above the satellite stage and give a full view of the performance from above. The view then dive down to the back of Maharani before move to the side then to the front right at the time of the music end and the lights spread out. The dancers stop their movement and facing down while Maharani lift her head up and open up her arms.

Lepaskan rasakan
Air mata mengalir
Biarkan membasuh
Duka didalam hati
Hilangkan semua
Beban yang trus mengekang
Hanyutkan, hanyutkan

Janganlah merasa
Engkau seorang diri
Disini temanmu
Setia menemani
Berbagi segala
Keluh kesah dihati
Ungkapkan, ungkapkan
Let it go, feel it
Tears flowed
Let (it) wash
Grief in the heart
Eliminate all
The burden that keeps reining
Wash (them) away, wash (them) away

Don't (you) feel
You are alone
Here your friend
Loyal (to) accompany
Share everything
Grief in the heart
Reveal (it) all, reveal (it) all

A wave of applause can be heard echoing inside the venue. Some of them even give a standing applause. The lights on the stage are getting back on. The dancers move sideways as Maharani walk forward. They are all bow down for the great acceptance. "Thank you, Buaka! Suksma!" Maharani shouts while waving her hand high which respond by a scream from the audience probably from Pemecutan.

13 - Placely Placington

E Oe - Eau Aeaea

Tune: ULTRA BRAiN - Ghost Busterz

The last couple of contests were a comedy of errors (or, more accurately, just errors no comedy) for Placely Placington. Originally, there was supposed to be a special guest to represent them at the 104th WorldVision Song Contest, an old face for anyone who remembers their Vartugian history fronting what had been called The BTAG Band with song imaginatively titled The BTAG Song. However, for one reason or another she didn't end up showing and thus they had to resort to a backup plan. Enter A Couple of Daves, the rap duo consisting of Dave McDaverson as the rapper and Dave the Living DJ Booth as the producer and the hype man. They originally performed at WV94 and they were back for WV104 with the song We Love Rapping. Despite (or because of) the awkward typo where one of the Ps was missing, which was pretty much the reason why Dave McDaverson was arrested at the end of the entry, the song ended up getting thirteen points: Three from Illdonya, eight from Crustyland and two from the Fatimanian Federation. This put them third from last with the juries but, due to original last-placers StrayaRoos getting a massive twenty points in the televote and both Placely and Vartugia (who got 12 points from the juries) getting nul points from it, A Couple of Daves ended up finishing second from last.

Then came WorldVision 105. They weren't there. Instead they were at the 69th World Hit Festival which was jointly held in Telm in Britonisea and Delboa in Scotatrova, although Placely performed in that first place as they were in the first half. With Dave McDaverson now free from prison after successfully flushing himself down the toilet, although he had to be cloned back to life after he got stuck in one of the pipes, he was now free to send the hottest hip hop group to ever hop hips. None other than the Placely Placington All-Stars, a supergroup that consists of him and his friends; in this case it was him, Television Director, Dave the Hobo, Potassium Man, Health Minister and Dave the Living DJ Booth. With their Placely Party Rap they were hoping for a better result than their finish at the 88th WorldVision Song Contest. Instead, not only would they get 7 points which was good enough for 17th but all of their points came from only two countries. A maximum of 5 from eventual winners Normandy and Picardy as well as a 2 from Grellenbyoosa-Ga.

As there's no real chance for them to be successful due to the fewer amounts of points and potential of having more people taking part, Dave McDaverson eventually realised that there was no real chance for them at the World Hit Festival and thus it was time to return to the WorldVision full-time. However, due to the vast amount of people who would be up for representing Placely Placington being otherwise occupied, he had to resort to one of the more backup options. Jim the Grindcore Guy Bloke wasn't available for some reason and so he had to settle for everyone's favourite consonantphobes, E Oe. Sure their last performance, the highly intense Uoiauai, was a bit of a flop in Aenglide where it picked up the dreaded nul points but hey, it was worth another go.

And they've decided to switch things up a bit more here. Gone are the overly extreme and brutal stylings of their last entry, probably to some relief, and in come a bit of an electronic tinge. Yes, it doesn't matter that the keyboard itself sounds like it's being throttled to death, that's doesn't matter. All that matters is that they had a new sound, a new song and are hoping for a better result than they got last time. That'd probably be easier done than said. Until then enjoy. Or not, I'm not going to tell you what to do.

(N.B. Much like my WorldVision 92 entry where I tried to guess what Bill Drummond was saying, the stuff in between the chorus are just rough estimations of syllables since not only are they heavily distorted that I can't make the words out but sometimes they get so buried in the mix that I couldn't hear it properly even if I knew what they were saying. Not to mention that, when I tried to find the lyrics for the song, the lyrics sites I used only had the choruses and the one video that had some of the lyrics has a bit that's hard to read due to the font and the overall quality of the video. Then again, it is Placely Placington and this is ICly a band whose songs only use five letters so it doesn't matter in the end.)

After the postcard came to an end, we cut to four figures on stage. They were all with their instruments, although one of them also had a keyboard in front of them. There was also some scant, arthymic applause as you'd expect; it's like Placely had never left. After a few seconds that died down and, a second or two later, it was time for the song to start with rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist A Eie playing the keyboard in front of him. And OH MY GOD, WHAT IS THIS? Anyway, after a few unmelodic beeps that sounded like a robotic bagpipe going through an industrial shredder, some haphazard and half-hearted strumming began from lead singer and lead guitarist Oo a e Ee as well as Iee Ea Aue just hitting whatever drums and O I plucking whatever bass strings. A stopped playing his keyboard for a few seconds before he carried on playing it a little bit longer. He stopped after a few more seconds and went back to strumming his rhythm guitar before, eventually, it was time for Oo to sing. Or, more accurately, yell into the microphone.

Oh, and there were some lighting effects on stage. Lights turning on and off, turning a different colour or just pulsing. There was supposed to be some backing imagery on the big screen behind them as well as on the stage itself but the South Batoki hosts didn't understand what the hell these people were trying to say so the backing screen was pure white while the stage itself was completely off. And it stayed like that throughout the entire song.

(EEEE UEUE EEE UEUE)
AAAAAA IIIIEEEE UUUUU AAA UAOO IIAII UUUUEAEA (AEAEA)
OOO EAU AEAEA (AEAEA)
IO UUUU EEEEE UIOIUAAAAA IIII UUUUUUUU AAA

After that, we immediately get one of the verses. At least, I think it's a verse, it's hard to tell. Anyway, the camera was mostly centred around Oo has he spoke or garbled his way through the verse, with the odd shot of his bandmates playing their instruments. At least during this bit the lights were changing colours, albeit subtly so it wasn't as distracting as it was throughout the chorus.

iiiii ooooo aoaoao eeoooa
uouuou iii aiia
ooaoaoao eee iaoiaoia ooo
eeeo eeeo oaoo
eoeoeoeo iiaoiaio
aeeuua oooaaai
ioiooioioi aueiuiuo aa
ooooeiiao uioiaoaioi

And almost immediately we get the chorus again. The lights went back to how they were and we got some lingering shots of Oo sing-yelling into the microphone. Every so often there was a cut to someone else, whether they be playing their instrument or also sing-yelling into the microphone as a back-up singer. Not much else to say, really.

(EEEE UEUE EEE UEUE)
AAAAAA IIIIEEEE UUUUU AAA UAOO IIAII UUUUEAEA (AEAEA)
OOO EAU AEAEA (AEAEA)
IO UUUU EEEEE UIOIUAAAAA IIII UUUUUUUU AAA

And again, we almost immediately cut to another verse. One that was much longer than the others for some unknown reason. Presumably Oo had a lot to say. While A strummed the lowest notes he could on his guitar and pressed a note on his keyboard from time to time while O bassed along, Oo spoke-sang very quickly. How quick? Quickly enough to make your average fan or slander victim du jour seem like they were going at 16 speed. Too bad we didn't know what the hell he was trying to say, he probably didn't know either. While the lighting during this bit was very muted (although it still kept changing colours and making some patters), it started to get brighter as it progressed before returning to its usual brightness at the very end of the verse.

aeaeaeae aoaiaoiaoaa
ueouoaeuao aeouaeauoe aeoaoueoueuo aaaeio
aoieoiaeoi iieoaiioeoi oaoooeaio eioaieo
euaeuoueuoao aeoueouaoue euouae
aueoue aueouoauoe uoiauai
aieoiaie eiaoiiaioe aeeaeeeeeee oaao
aoaoiaioi eeieaoieoi aoiioa
ooooaoio aoeioeioie oooo
ioaaoeioaaeoi aeaeaeae eaeaeae
aeuia aiaiu ooioo oooo oooo aiiai e
uuaeoueoua aoeuoueaoue uuuueao
oaoiaoiaoia oaoaoiaiieaeo aeiou uaioe
eaeaeae aee
ooai aoieoi a
oaieeioaeoieoi aaaaoo
aaoaooeo aeooaeoa uuuuu

Same as before when we return to the chorus. Sure it's a different chorus, but the same rules apply.

(EEEE UEUE EEE UEUE)
AAAAAA IIIIEEEE UUUUU AAA UAOO IIAII UUUUEAEA (AEAEA)
OOO EAU AEAEA (AEAEA)
OOOOO UUUUU AAAA EEIIEI OIIIIIIII UUUUU AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
EEEEEE AAAIIIIII OOOO AEAEA
OIOI EEEEEEEEEEEE UAAAAAAAA

Wait, what's this? An instrumental passage? Too bad that the discordant keyboard had returned for a moment while the entire band rocked out. Fortunately it went away after a few seconds so that A could strum along with both hands instead having to do a one-handed sort of thing. Unfortunately it came back for about two or three seconds before it stopped completely. Oh yeah, Oo repeated the first verse again and, thus, all the effects and shots from that bit happened again.

iiiii ooooo aoaoao eeoooa
uouuou iii aiia
ooaoaoao eee iaoiaoia ooo
eeeo eeeo oaoo
eoeoeoeo iiaoiaio
aeeuua oooaaai
ioiooioioi aueiuiuo aa
ooooeiiao uioiaoaioi

And we reach the chorus once again. However, since it also doubles as an outro, they've kind of extended it a bit. The effects and shots remain the same as they do earlier, though. Also, during this point, a couple of audience members could be seen getting out of their seats, either because they've had enough or because they wanted to do something else until the next song.

(EEEE UEUE EEE UEUE)
AAAAAA IIIIEEEE UUUUU AAA UAOO IIAII UUUUEAEA (AEAEA)
OOO EAU AEAEA (AEAEA)
IO UUUU EEEEE UIOIUAAAAA IIII UUUUUUUU AAA
(EEEE UEUE EEE UEUE)
AAAAAA IIIIEEEE UUUUU AAA
(EEEE UEUE EEE UEUE) UAOO IIAII UUUUEAEA (AEAEA)
OOO EAU AEAEA (AEAEA)
IO UUUU EEEEE UIOIUAAAAA IIII UUUUUUUU AAA
(EEEE UEUE EEE UEUE UEUE)

After that, there were no more lyrics so fortunately we didn't have to hear with whatever sort of vocals Oo was doing. Unfortunately, not only is this bit another minute and a half at least but also the keyboard was played again. At least this time it was mostly with two hands. As this bit continued, more and more people could be seen leaving the whole area and heading somewhere else. The band paid no attention to this, they just kept jamming and getting lost in their jam. After a while a huge parade out audience members returned to the whole area and they seemed to be carrying a grand piano. They had an idea of what to do due to it constantly happening, all they had to do was wait for the right moment.

Eventually, after each band member had stopped playing their instruments (with Iee being the last to stop), they stood up completely straight. No one applauded. The band then stood at the front of the stage and Oo said "A OU UAA! OU AE EE A OEU AUIEE!" At that point the huge crowd of people threw the piano onto the band and it completely flattened them. The audience rolled natural 20s, hence why they were all able to lift and carry the damn thing, whereas E Oe just rolled a 1 hence their flattening. As the sound of smashed piano faded away, leaving only a bit of wreckage for the stagehands to clear up so the stage could get ready for the next act, everyone then returned to their seats. Hopefully the next performer will be a lot better than what they had just went through.

One win was absolutely amazing for Carrelie, but two in a row was unfathomable. As Maria Albrechtsen handed the acclaimed WorldVision trophy on to Claire Vandame, there hung an unmatched sense of national pride in the crisp Carrelian air. The STC had originally planned to revive the Melodifestival national final for 106, though the win caused a last-minute change which cancelled the show. Unfortunately, this memo was not received due to the STC HQ's internet being down for scheduled maintenance when it was sent out. And so set in motion the big mess that was Carrelie's WorldVision 106 selection.

It began with the memo, obviously. It was sent out by a very tired and caffeine-fuelled Chief Director of Programming at the STC, Anilis Vorhayen, at 6am. By 7:30, people began coming into work and Vorhayen was promptly passed out all over his office desk. Meanwhile, people were already getting the show prepared without any knowledge of the memo, and it wasn't until its announcement on Last Night Live that Vorhayen realised that the memo hadn't gone out. In a scurry, he sent out a department-wide e-mail, hoping they could somehow reverse it. It was not to be. The STC had already spent a pretty penny on the show - the venue was ready, artists were appearing and they'd even set up the online voting web page. The best they could do was push the results back so that the artist could represent Carrelie in WorldVision 107. In the end, Anilis settled for half.

Then came the disaster that was Melodifestival 107. There came accusations of favouritism in Mont-Sanguine as Douria was selected as one of the nations being represented in the show, and more criticism when the director of the whole show was revealed to be both extremely homophobic and a convicted felon. In the end, this as well as technical problems caused the STC to shelve it entirely and return to internal selections "for the foreseeable future". The show was still broadcast, though as a cut-back version lumped into the "Top!Pop" brand of chart shows without the participations of Tania Vorsett or Cléo et les Améthystes.

But that wasn't the end of the STC's troubles - now they actually had to select an entry. Naturally, coming off the tail end of a second win, there were many people auditioning and applying, but the STC were hesitant to stage Voici le cœur battant du monde ! Nous sélectionnons une chanson pour le Worldvision ! after the Melodifestival disaster. Therefore the STC decided to select an artist itself. After a while of searching, the broadcaster settled on an artist who'd been making waves on social media in the form of Marje Eenpalu.

The visionary, Marje Eenpalu. She was born in Saint-Floriane-des-Rivières to two Uthossian parents, Jurjo and Saima Eenpalu, in 1989. Growing up in the relatively small village, Marje always felt like an outsider. However, her multicultural background and upbringing have played a vital role in shaping her unique musical style. She spoke Estonian at home and became proficient in French, serving as a bridge between her culture of birth and her culture of upbringing. Marje's music is a reflection of her identity, drawing inspiration from both her Uthossian roots and her Carrelian experiences. Her powerful vocals and soulful melodies have captured the hearts of many, and her message of inclusivity and self-acceptance has resonated with fans from all walks of life.

Marje's upbringing in Saint-Floriane was a quiet one. With limited access to technology and entertainment, Marje turned to music as a form of escape and self-expression. She would spend hours listening her old, beaten-up HiFi stereo and singing along to musical legends, and this love of music allowed her to connect with other people such as her future boyfriend Martin. Her mother, ever the supportive type, enrolled her in the Sainte-Marie Music Academy at the age of 13, where she began to hone her skills in singing and playing the violin. Marje's passion for music continued to grow, and she began writing her own songs and performing at local events.

Marje and Martin began dating in early 2004, when both were 14. hey first met in music school and quickly bonded over their shared love of music. However, their relationship was often tumultuous, as they struggled to balance their intense emotions with the demands of school and their budding music careers. Martin kept insisting he needed time and space, but Marje was afraid of abandonment and so insisted she stuck with him. Ultimately, the relationship had a negative effect on both and came close to destroying Marje as she was unwilling to let go - but they could never make it work and things ultimately collapsed in the end - but it did provide a foundation for "Hopeful Soul".

☆ P E R F O R M A N C E
Marje stepped out onto the party-hat-esque stage after the mass confusion of the Placely Placingtonian entry. Stepping over the remaining shards of the smashed piano that had just been thrown onto stage, she positioned herself at the very large platform's centre. Stepping over these stray pieces of wood, Marje felt a tinge of irony (or perhaps a splinter), as she recalled her staging involved quite a few shards. The lights do not shine on her, but rather out towards the audience as she takes a couple steps forward. Thanks to the relatively lax rules of the contest, Marje was the only person on stage. If not for being allowed to use pre-recorded backing vocals, there would've surely been a choir on stage like the Eisteddfod Côr Iffrwff. On the other hand, being the only person on stage in front of an impossibly large audience gives Marje a sense of foreboding.

The music began with violins, always Marje's favourite instrument, and after 18 seconds (though to some it would've felt like 18 years) of intro the white spotlights began shining onto Marje as she began to sing the first verse.

Once was a follow through
Now thrice is a farce again
On again, off again my lover
Rhythm of rain
Our love proverbial
I could contend
Only exists in peripheral vision
When will it be at its end?

Marje's outfit soon became apparent. She was wearing a delicately constructed dress with protruding bands of silk in red and cream, just begging to fly around in the wind. Naturally, they were granted this pleasure as a fan was turned on, causing them to flutter around as Marje began to move into the chorus. It was at about this point when the screens behind her flared to life. At first showing a steady water stream, the current began to pick up as an envelope of sorts seemed to be dropped into it. As if at Marje's command, the envelope was soon flung against the side of the screen as she positioned her hands to her right, and it shattered into countless red shards at the first "Float into the distance". The shards remained at the bottom of the screen as a framed picture suffered the same fate throughout the second part of the chorus.

Oh, don’t crush my hopeful soul
We’re bound to repeat into infinity
Sever the ties and
Float into the distance
I’ll always be a hopeful soul
Over the sky, all the land and sea
Sever the ties and
Float into the distance, float into the distance

The destruction was calmed down throughout the second verse. A track cam followed Marje as she strolled along the stage, producing wilted petals from her dress, which were scattered onto the ground. She changed her direction midway through the verse, now throwing the petals into the air as she walked towards the satellite stage to meet with the adoring crowd. As the verse neared its end, the pre-recorded backing vocals became more useful as Marje fought the urge to sing all the song's parts by herself.

Run your bloody course
Back into my heart
Say we’re both not good enough, go again
Await the restart
Wait for the fall (wait for the restart)
Oh, can we do it? (can we do it?)

The destruction of property began once more with the coming of the second chorus. Marje's movements throughout this chorus were intensive, from fast spins (at "Sever the ties and") to powerful poses (like one at "Float into the distance) as a music box and a vase were shattered into red pieces, perhaps a commentary on her tumultuous feelings throughout her relationship.

So don’t crush my hopeful soul
We’re bound to repeat into infinity
Sever the ties and
Float into the distance
I’ll always be a hopeful soul
Over the sky, all the land and sea
Sever the ties and
Float into the distance, float into the distance

Immediately after the chorus, Marje transitioned into the bridge as she readied herself for the final chorus. Almost falling to the floor from all the movements she'd been performing, she swayed with power as she launched herself onto the floor (at "You kick me down"), before picking herself back up (at "Unsteady crown"). On the screens behind her, the destruction continued with yet more romantic memorabilia from pictures to peonies being shattered like glass. She stretched her hands out for the final two lines, causing smoke to be released from machines at both ends of the impossibly large stage.

You kick me down
I recover
Unsteady crown
Bearing the weight (bearing the weight)
You kick me down (kick me down)
I recover (I recover)
Unsteady crown (kick me down)
Bearing the weight
Of the world
On my shoulder (on my shoulder)

After a very brief intermission, Marje burst into the chorus as the cacophony of instruments in the backing track rang out across the arena. Her powerful voice projected itself as the red shards she'd left on screen formed into an uneasy red heart - though like the rest of the objects it was soon shattered. Fighting through the smoke for an incredible finish, Marje stood at the tail end of the stage as spotlights in red, cream and blue lit up the smoke in their colours.

So don’t crush my hopeful soul
We’re bound to repeat into infinity
We sever the ties and
Float into the distance
I’ll always be a hopeful soul
Over the sky, all the land and sea
Sever the ties and
Float into the distance, float into the distance

Marje's arms remained outstretched as the song approached its end with the hope of the backing vocals. After the cacophony of voices ceased, the lights focused on Marje, who wiped the sweat off of her forehead before releasing a hefty breath. Her sense of foreboding had very thankfully not been realised, and the audience gave the Uthossian-Carrelian a resounding applause as she bowed profusely.

"THANK YOU SOUTH BATOKO, TÄNAN SIND VÄGA!"

15. Obrela

Nation Name: Obrela
Official Broadcaster: Obrelan National Network 1 (ONN1)
Song Title: Teuila Blossom
Tune: 24/7 - Common Kings
Artists' Name: Teuila Sisters
Songwriters: Malia Teuila, Leilani Teuila, Moana Teuila

Summer 2016
Tipturgavi, Obrela

"Thank you! Thank you Obrela!" Leilani Teuila waved to the crowd one last time as the curtains swung closed. The sun was setting, and it pierced through the chink in the fabric, the beam of light setting the sisters' hair ablaze with fire.
"Well, that was a good performance." Her older sister, Malia, collapsed onto a chair backstage, with Moana sitting at her feet, "I think that was the biggest crowd we've ever played to."
"Well, the weather was fine, and the waves were calm. There was no reason not to watch us." Moana lay down, then promptly sat back up, wincing, "Ahh, my eyes!"
The three sisters shared a laugh. Then, Leilani noticed something out of the corner of her eye, "Hey. Who's that man talking to Father?"
Moana got up and went to peek through the curtain, "Well he can't be from around here. He's wearing a suit!"
"Stars above, he must be boiling!" Malia laughed, then pushed through the curtain, leaping down to stand with her father, "I'maura Tana! Did you like the performance?"
"I'maura Malia. Come here, all of you." He held out his arms, and the three girls ran up to him. He enveloped them in a huge hug, swinging them around and around.
"Girls, I would like you to meet Mr Murphy. He's come all the way from Canada to hear you sing."
The man smiled, "Please, call me Jason." Shaking each of their hands in turn, he went on, "I've heard about your talent, and after seeing you all in person, I believe I was right to come here. I would like to offer you a contract with Oceania Records."
Malia blinked, "You can't really be serious? Tana, is this true?"
"Indeed it is." Her father grinned, "I always told you that you would make it far girls. But only if you want to."
Malia turned to her sisters, "Are you two ok with this?"
They nodded, and she shook his outstretched hand, "Sir, we have a deal."

The Teuila sisters hail from Tipturgavi, a small coastal city in the south east of Obrela. The band is comprised of 3 sisters, Malia (26), Leilani (25) and Moana (23). They began singing around the age of 9, and enjoyed performing for their family at parties, family gatherings and celebrations. Their music style is characterised by the influence of traditional Obrelan folk and reggae music combined with the sound of more mainstream popular music.

After the girl left school, they decided to pursue a full time music career and started playing in small venues all over Obrela, often on the beach or in the open air. In July 2016, they were approached by Jason Murphy and signed a contract with Oceania Records. This was also when they started writing their original music, and released their debut album, titled "Fire Dance" on 12th October 2018. Since then they have released 2 more albums, and are gaining fame worldwide. This is their first Worldvision and they are honoured to have been chosen to represent their country.

The three women stood in front of the mic, hearts hammering in their chests. The curtain had yet to go up, and Moana grasped Leilani's hand tightly. They had rehearsed for months, but this was the biggest performance they had ever done. The curtain went up and the lights shone down, red and pink hues that faded back to purple in the background. Malia stepped up to the microphone, her red dress sparkling in the lights.

She's my flower
As bright as can be
I let everybody know
You're the one I need

As the sister's swayed, the lights shifted from red to pink and back again, and Leilani stepped up to the mic, letting her two sisters take the backing vocals.

She bloomed in the sun before me
Her petals unfurling so red and free
I love it when she pulls me under
Her lovin' like a drug to me
I can't let go now
A beauty to behold
So rare and so fine
She has to be mine, ooo

Stepping back, she let Moana take the lead this time, her orange dress rippling as a faint wind blew across the stage, ruffling the dresses and their braids, and blowing some red petals across the stage. One got in Moana's hair, but she brushed it off quickly and continued singing.

Her flower so bright and beautiful
Hey she's like a perfect work of art
She's my blossom, my heart's desire
I fell so hard for her right from the start
Can't let go now
I'm so addicted to your heart
You are my flame, never burn out
And I love how you do this to me

Moving into the chorus, Malia took up lead vocals once again while Leilani and Moana harmonised. A band became slightly visible off to the side of the stage, and the sisters swayed in rhythm as the rest of the red teuila petals wafted across the stage and out into the audience.

You stole my heart away, my Teuila Blossom
I know I've hit rock bottom
But all that I want
Is to be here in your lovin' oh woah oh oh
You take me over oh woah oh oh

You stole my heart away, my Teuila Blossom
I know I've hit rock bottom
But all that I want
Is to be here in your lovin' oh woah oh oh
You take me over oh woah oh oh

Two more microphones had appeared on stage during the chorus and the two younger sisters took one each, the three spreading out across the front of the stage and sharing the lyrics to the bridge as the lights dimmed to a clear calming blue.

Oooh, girl, you are worth the chase
Oooh, girl, when I look at your face
Oooh, girl, you know I'm drunk on your love
And you that I can't get enough

As they moved into the last proper verse, the lights went back to pinks and reds, and spotlights panned over the cheering crowd bouncing below them. They all smiled as the backup dancers came onto the stage for the final verse and choruses.

You get me all turned around
Don't know where I am
Take me so high, ain't comin' down
Cause you're the bloom
And I am your bee
And I love how you do this to me

The party really had started down in the audience, and phone torches were out, sparkling across the bowl of the arena. Some glowsticks were waving, and as the spotlights panned over, you could see some people moving to the catchy beat.

You stole my heart away, my Teuila Blossom
I know I've hit rock bottom
But all that I want
Is to be here in your lovin' oh woah oh oh
You take me over oh woah oh oh

You stole my heart away, my Teuila Blossom
I know I've hit rock bottom
But all that I want
Is to be here in your lovin' oh woah oh oh
You take me over oh woah oh oh

Mmmm, won't let your lovin' go-oh-oh
You take me over... Mmmm
And girl when we're together-er
It's all I need...

You stole my heart away, my Teuila Blossom
I know I've hit rock bottom
But all that I want
Is to be here in your lovin' oh woah oh oh
You take me over oh woah oh oh

You stole my heart away, my Teuila Blossom
I know I've hit rock bottom
But all that I want
Is to be here in your lovin' oh woah oh oh
You take me over oh woah oh oh

Ooooo, girl, oooo, girl, uh
ooooo, girl, oooo, flower
Ooooo, girl

The song finished with a flourish, and Leilani raised her hand to the audience, just like she'd done all those years ago, "Thank you! Thank you, South Batoko! Goodnight!"

Hi, I'm Adalwine Stickel. I'm a 19 year old singer, songwriter and pro boxer from Schaarstel, Norrp. I've been writing music since I was a kid and started performing in college. My music is inspired by my Norrpian heritage and culture, and it's full of stories about love, life, and hope. When I'm not creating or performing music, I'm usually painting or exploring nature. Nowadays, I write songs about the things that make me happy and the things that inspire me. I love making art that connects with people's emotions!

Adalwine Stickel is an electro-pop artist who made waves with his debut EP “Handbuch” in 2021. He has since been releasing a cavalcade of hypnotic dance hits and vulnerable sad bops, all while being unsigned. Adalwine Stickel's music tows the very fine line between expressing hardship but finding solace in dancing it out. The best offense is a great defense of one’s psyche. While most of Adalwine Stickel's singles seem to resonate that aforementioned mantra, none so much as “More and More.”

Released in 2023, “More and More” articulates the experience of a one-sided relationship. In Avery’s case, his partner has been unfaithful, inconsiderate, and just plain hurtful to the degree that he musters up the power to ask, “what if the roles were reversed?” As listeners, there’s a degree of separation which allows us to be intrigued but have no stakes in our opinion. Yet, there’s also an undercurrent of accessibility in that we have all “baggage.” We as people have unique, nuanced thumbprints of trauma, but we find solace in the similarities of our feelings surrounding it.

NPTV were hoping they could improve on a run of good results especially after finishing 16th with 118 points in Għain in Malta Comino Gozo. Norrp got 12 points from the Achaean Republic and 61 points in the televoting. Having never broken the top 10 a lot was now riding on their next entry!!

The stage was ready for Norrp. The postcard ended and the beat kicked in. The LED screens flash a light sky blue. The cameraman walks towards Adalwine who is standing on the centre of the stage with a confident posture. His ankles is surrounded by a mist that is around his shoes. He is hanging his head as he sings the opening lines. He is wearing the same clothes as the picture above and his hair is gelled right up. A classic teenager look!!

(Hey, hey, hey)
(Hey, hey, hey)

Adalwine steadily looks up towards the camera without changing his expression. He runs his hand through his hair a little to excite the crowd. He was a very attractive guy after all!! Then he swaggers forward slowly to the beat. As the camera backs up we can see he is not alone. He is in a club and 2 groups of club people are on either side of him towards the edges of the stage. They move very slowly as if time is slowed. Some are dancing and some are just chatting. They are having a great time. He sings the line "Lookin' around everyone seems so lost" and turns around to a specific girl in the group to his right, who isn't engaging with the music of her friends but turning around very slowly to face in his direction. She is dressed in a fancy creamy yellow dress. Adalwine has now reached the front of the stage.

Talking dude, drinking at the party
We can't ignore the history
Behind us here tonight,
Lookin' around everyone seems so lost
Let me be the one, the one to help you out

We reach the chorus as the beat kicks up. The camera shows a view of the stage as it flashes yellow right at the drop of the beat. Adalwine sings towards the camera that pans around him clockwise he holds the mic in his left hand and sweeps his right to the camera and winks. His attractive good looks certainly pulling on the heartstrings of the younger viewers.

The stage floor glows a fantastic blue and the LED screens flashes various colours. The camera then transitions to a stage shot as we see the girl slowly walking towards him. She is down and sad but still looking for a guy. She is drawn into him as her group of friends are not engaging with her and she feels sad. We then see him turn to her and sing towards her. The camera is now from her angle as we see him beckon her so he can comfort her now. The cameraswtiches to a front view from the floor looking up to him then fades to black.

Oh, it's so hard, so hard to cope now
We're losing more and more of our hope
And when days get rough I'll be there to assist you
Oh, oh, it's so hard,
So hard to cope now oh...
Just let me help you so you never resist
It's so hard oh!
Oh, it's so hard!

The pair are now on the floor together legs crossed as they sit and chat and eat fast food. They are lit by a golden spotlight. The fog drifts around them. For the third line he puts his right hand around her back and she leans in and places her head on his muscular shoulder and smiles.

Eating in the dark, we can't deny
The struggle of a life so hard to abide
But if we come together nothing can stop us now!
We'll take our fate into our own hands... somehow!

Burts of blue and white lights fire outwards from the top of the stage. Adalwine and his lady friend turn to face one another as he serenades her. They walk in a circle around each other. His vocals are supported by the people in the back. Their voices harmonise.

Oh, it's so hard, so hard to cope now
We're losing more and more of our hope
And when days get rough I'll be there to assist you
Oh, it's so hard!
So hard to cope now oh...
Just let me help you so you never resist
It's so hard oh!
Oh, it's so hard!

The claps echo around the massive arena, and he feeds off the energy the fans of WorldVision are giving. The backing singers carry on singing. The lights on stage brighten and flash along with the beat and Adalwine and his backing dancers pound and stomp their way through the chorus. Our camera view is on the stage following him.

Oh, oh, oh (Oh, it's so hard)(cope now)
We're losing more and more of our hope (this hope)
No... (hey, hey)
(Mm)
Just let me help you so you never resist (The better way!)

The lights dim and the only light left is the lone light shining down on him. The camera view was now a facial shot. Adalwine stared intently into the camera and scanned the crowd and soaked in the excitable audience. Adalwine loved performing for large crowds.

Let me show you a brighter, better way
We'll prove that no matter what,
We can make it through the day

The beat burst back in and a quick pyro firework shoots up from the stage perimeters. The stage is lit in a light yellow tone. A suspended camera shows off the sage from above the spectators.

If we all stand strong, together as one oh...
No force will ever bring us down, we'll overcome!

The camera races across the audience towards the stage before it swaps to a view of Adalwine. Adalwine is stood centre stage serenading the lady and holding her hand. The club goers party in the background as well as supporting his singing. They have their arms up high and their heads sway as they enjoy the beat.

We're losing more and more of our hope (yeah)
We're losing more and more of our hope (oh)
We're losing more and more of our hope (hey, hey,)
(Mm), And when days get rough
Then I'll be there to assist you

Some fireworks splay up from the main stage, a whoosh can be heard as the sparkles take flight. Adalwine is breathless but elated with the performance.
The arena erupts with spontaneous flag-waving and cheering, and Adalwine smiles and waves and leaves the stage ready for the next entry!!

Not only had the nation placed third they had done it on home soil in front of thousands of fans and had ultimately done the little island country very proud indeed. Malta Comino Gozo was no stranger to hosting the contest, this was their fourth time doing so, which, for the contest's smallest country was quite the feat. Pallix and Kate Meilak's anthemic song "Melody" was a huge risk and it paid off! The contest was only the second contest to be an outdoor event. Għain had put on a stunning and fabulous show that would go down in history! The legacy would live on for years and years.

With 10 points from Aenglide, Illdonya and debutants Uthossia and 12 points from The Fatiman Federation and second place in the Telvoting, this was again another huge achievement for the country. With a podium finish the song blew up all over the multiverse. Of course, it topped the charts in Malta Comino Gozo but also in the Fatiman Federation, Aenglide, Uthossia, Illdonya and the WMCA countries. Next time you're out hitting the town, you may hear melody and you'll feel your body move and sway.

Five years ago, Fakawi played their first Malta Comino Gozoan headline show in the FCC. The venue held around 10,00 fans and was a sellout! It’s no wonder frontman Franġisku Ross is bounding so keenly around the stage like he’s just inhaled some Haribos. “Holy f*cking shit!” he yells as he surveys the mass of young punks (and a fair few older ones) before him with colourful hair and tartan clothes, for whom Camden Town would seem like a natural habitat.

2
Three years ago the band sign a record deal with top MCG record company "Railyard Studio".

1
Fast forward to October 2022 to the 67th World Hit Festival in Playas de Rocas where the band placed second with their hit "Feel so Special", a song sound-wise that has massive rock energy mixed with grunge and a sexy but catchy dynamic at the same time.

ACTION!

Image
Alwiġi Manzoni, Andrew Visanich, Franġisku Ross & Louis Castelletti
Equal parts brit-pop, glam rock and art-punk, Fakawi has amassed over 600 million streams throughout their career and earned a legion of cult-like fans with their adrenaline-fueled, Rock n’ Roll circus. First landing in Valletta as teenagers, Gozo-bred boys Louis Castelletti (electric guitar) and Franġisku Ross (lead vocals), joined Alwiġi Manzoni (drums) and Andrew Visanich (electric guitar) to form the band we have now and worked their way up through the ruthless MCG rock scene while briefly living out of their car, soon finding themselves supporting arenas and touring the multiverse with the likes of Fradel and Spies and Simeon.

In an unexpected yet auspicious turn, the band’s new single "Corrupt" emerged from a much-needed break in the chaos, returning to their roots and composing most of the same named album on piano. Equal parts ecstatic head rush and in-depth meditation on the state of the human psyche, the result is Fakawi’s boldest and most visionary body of work to date.

Fakawi has gone from strength to strength and definitely brings the juxtaposition of glitz and grime! Gretsch guitar tones that shimmer with reverb, drums that shake and pound, vocals that claw forth with the electric urgency of the early punk movement, all swirling together with the swinging cool of the 1960s and the swagger of latter-day Brit Pop bands such as The Libertines and early Arctic Monkeys. Looked down on by the elderly but respected by the youth, Fakawi has carved itself a home in the MCG music scene. Their tours are like a travelling circus. Clad in scarves, hats, paisley shirts, and makeup, as the Soldiers of the Royal Council attest, it’s the Fakawi lifestyle. Summoning a thrilling spirit, with throwback sonic crunch, visual flair, and reckless live performances, Fakawi has quickly earned a legion of obsessive cult-like fans.

Now, they were the first act to represent Malta Comino Gozo in WHF and now WorldVision. It was a big ask and something the band had toyed around with for quite a while.

Andrew: " I remember we wrote that song on the beginning cycle of Side A, and it was a different chorus, there was a completely different melody, ... We needed something that kind of followed up "Feel so special" for like a new audience, and I think "Corrupt" was like a new imprint for us of showing our live show a little bit, like having riffs for the first time in our tracks and stuff was a huge thing because they were just ... melodic songs and whatnot..."

Franġisku: "I remember it took us 5 months to write that chorus for Corrupt finally, but once we did, we knew it was something special. It's still one of my favourite songs."

Louis: "Everyone had a different view of what Side B should have been, we saw it as a completely separate album, some people saw it as a continuation of an album, but honestly we needed something that was able to take something that was ... a very easy listening song, like "Feel so Special; on the recording, it's not that harsh at all. When we play it live, it's a lot more distortion, a lot more energy, but Corrupt captivated what people saw us [sound like] for two years touring..."

Alwiġi: "...I think whenever we played that, in like rehearsal rooms, I would always just get so excited, and that's how I knew it was going to be our WorldVision single because I was just so excited to play it all the time."

Franġisku: The contest wasn't really in our intentions, although we had spoken about it briefly we normally just brushed it off but the idea stuck to us and grew and grew and like Alwiġi pointed out there was something in Corrupt that just screamed Worldwide audiences,

‘Corrupt’ is a step into the new world of Fakawi’ claims frontman Franġisku Ross. ‘Steaming from the live show atmosphere, we took the moments of aggression, violence and excitement by putting in all into one song. ‘Corrupt’ was written from the perspective of a schizophrenic patient. In today’s society, everyone around you will always say ‘it will be fine’. In this song, we address the topics that people tend to not frequently talk about, mental health and freedom within existence.’

The nation's postcards ended as the stage was now ready for Malta Comino Gozo. The camera view is from the very back right corner of the arena. The flicker of an old movie-like credit scene completely overlaps the entire stage's LED screens accompanied by the sound. The fast-moving crisp white lights flickered and just briefly illuminated the crowd. The camera cuts away to black.

The quite light-hearted beat kicks in. The camera is suspended above the stage looking downwards. A dirty white lonely spotlight appears and reveals Franġisku lying on the stage floor. Apart from that everything else is in darkness. Cocooned he is sealed in tight a straight jacket, his arms tucked up inside. Scribbled all over it were the words "Patient X" and "I am floating in and out of totally fine and dysfunctional".With a dazed and broad grin, he grins menacingly up at the camera and squirms. His hair is ruffled and gelled into spikes. His rosy red eye shadow glowed against his pale skin and drew the viewers into his earthy brown eyes. In those earthy hues was his soul, not in the way of those cheesy romance novels, so obsessed with lust, but with the kind of beauty that expands a moment into a personal eternity, a heaven you wish to be a part of.

Quite the sticky situation he has got himself into... but how did he get here? He frighteningly rolls his head trying to crack his neck before he begins to sing. Still grinning, finding the whole thing rather amusing, he rolls his eyes and begins to sing his story. He was quite the actor and totally in character portraying those movies of a "crazy person" locked up in some dingy asylum. The camera drops nearer slowly but surely. He shifts his body. His bare feet poked out the straight jacket rubbing against the floor of the stage. Whilst singing the last line he frantically tries to break free.,
Do you try to navigate?
Well let's get something straight
You're adrift from yourself and you just can't seem to clear your mind
Tensions will escalate
And you cannot tolerate
This corruption has decided to make a home in your hollow mind

The suspended camera lowers even more so we have an upper body half view of Franġisku and repeatedly draws ever nearer for each "Oh no no no" His devilish smile is still on show for the viewers. His glance, watched the camera the way a tiger watched its prey. He rolls his body side to side, struggling desperately trying to escape, his legs kicking, his head thrashing. Shuffling around for the last line, he winks to a camera positioned on the floor to his right. The camera suddenly cuts to black for the drumroll.

Oh no no no
In your corrupted mind
Out of time
In your corrupted mind
Oh no no no
Oh no no no

We up the tempo as the chorus begins. A straight-on-camera angle of the entire stage now reveals Franġisku off the floor with his arms free from his straight jacket prison. He's now at the centre edge of the stage gripping a vintage microphone with all his strength. Poignant neon blue lights light up the floor of the stage which is beginning to be flush with dry ice whilst the rest of the stage remains black. Our only glimpses of the rest of the band are their podiums lit with neon blue which lit them in a dull glow and the odd swirl of the strobe lights. Although mostly dark their suited-up figures were visible. Apart from Alwiġi who played the drums with vigour, the rest of the band on electric guitars stood there motionless. Their confident posture was almost menacing amongst the chaos of the lights that swirled around the stage and arena. On our left in the background was Louis in a dappled grey suit with a silky pink neckerchief loose around his tattoed neck. A scruffy strawberry blonde goatee adorned his mouth. Centre back was Alwiġi on drums dressed in a white suit and black formal shirt. With his sleeves rolled up, his half-sleeved tattooed and olive-skinned arms thrashed away at the drums. His wrists adorned with bracelets quivered and danced with each drum hit and on our back right was Andrew also on an electric guitar. His head and ears were hugged by a bushy and messy man bob which aligned with his chin. He is wearing a light grey suit with a white formal shirt. Dark grey eye shadow hid his eyes making his eyes look much larger and scarier amongst the shadows of the stage.

Each LED screen displays a glitching corrupted video file. The camera straight on bursts inward with some force spinning anticlockwise like a rollercoaster through a helix towards the stage for the last line "Close your mind, look away and carry on". He carried on singing with vigour and confidence.

Corruption is the total sign
A sign of the destruction of your lives
Don't act indestructible
Close your mind, look away and carry on

A golden flash and a quick drum roll introduce the next part of the chorus before the neon blue lights return. The camera is now close up to Franġisku giving us an upper body shot as the cameraman rushes left to right in front of him like an annoying wasp. He sang with grit and passion. It was raspy and pained but remained charming. As the camera swings to our right the brightness increases, and as it swings to our left it decreases showcasing the balance between sane and insane. With a crazed expression he watches the camera float around him whilst seizing the microphone and leaning forward, his left leg in front for balance. His beady eyes penetrated the camera lens.

I am floating in and out
Of totally fine and dysfunctional
My minds let loose now

Now floating on the periphery of his left, (our right) with the brightness just off two figures dressed all in black robes their faces masked in black too, grab Franġisku from behind as he finishes the line, locking his arms behind his back swinging him around to the right and the camera fades to black. Another "Just carry on" echoes out into the arena.

So close your mind, look away and carry on
Just carry on

The camera fades back in and Franġisku bent forward is sat in a wooden chair centre stage, still in his straight jacket. The tempo fades down again. The camera stays at an angle just off to his left side so we can see him all in the frame. Twisting and turning around his legs a grey ghostly fog dances. Although it looked ethereal and fragile, it packed a punch far above its weightlessness. It writhed and coiled with delight, its ghostly scarves wrapping the chair in a maze of mist. Disorientated and with a whispering tone he began to sing. Disorientation was part of the magic, part of the fascination of the new and interesting. When all this becomes normal, remember this moment and feel blessed. His head twitched ever so slightly like a malfunctioning robot which resonated well with the lyrics but robots were not what the band was referencing although it seemed like they were. Trapped in his corner the man's spark, despite the insanity inside him, still shines. Almost begging the camera now at this point with a dismal expression he explains he is just like the rest of "I am shiny just like you". The pressure in him builds.

Underneath, this metal skin
Not as tight - as this corner
That I - painted myself in,
I am shiny just like you

He rolls his head backwards and then back to normal. The drums build and the lights begin to flash. With no response and no one to set him free, he begins to get angry. The rational Franġisku was offline and the primitive Franġisku was emerging again. Suddenly his liberal opinions were gone, his ability for nuance and emotional generosity were gone too. He begins to wriggle about in his chair. The camera cuts to a shot of his hand tied behind his back as his hands curled into fists. As the verse progresses the drums build more and the lights begin to flash even more erratically. His sexy tone became more angry and raspy. The last line echoes out into the audience as we have a close-up shot of Alwiġi but only his arms and hands dramatically building up the chorus, which cuts away to Franġisku bursting free again, and back and forth very rapidly between Alwiġi and himself in time with the drum beat. As it does the camera fades into a slight sepia tone.

Just like you
Just like you
Just like you
Yeah
I'm just like you
I am like you
Just like you
Yeah...

We have a strobe of violent dazzling white spotlights whirl around the arena as we have a quick shot from the back of the arena. THE LED screens remain black. The stage lit in a furious golden glow enriched by the sepia effect. The band members sway behind Franġisku as he clunches the microphone whilst jumping up and down. Franġisku does a phenomenal job of amplifying the emotions being conveyed by the lyrics. His beady eyes stared into the cameras and erratic movements and finger-pointing at his head helped add to the vibe. At times his eyes were shut as he screamed the lyrics. The camera work becomes intensely chaotic as it clips from stage shots of the rest of the band and Franġisku interacting with them on their podiums before racing out from the stage over the crowd to shots of the eager crowd jumping, their arms waving above them. We clip between various shots of the crowd and to a shot of Louis from his right, who is now at the front of the stage. He takes no interest in the camera as he concentrates solely on his electric guitar.

Corruption is the total sign
A sign and destruction of your lives
Don't act indestructible
Close your mind, look away and carry on

More shots of the screaming crowd cut back to Franġisku as we have a jumble of shots from behind him, his side and then a close-up as he leans into the camera positioned in the audience right below him at the edge of the stage. The whole time he sang menacingly, almost possessed, his immaculate vocals soared.

I am floating in and out
Of totally fine and dysfunctional!

The camera cuts away to Alwiġi on drums as he plays with abandon before it cuts back to a close-up of Franġisku as he actresses the mic seductively his head tilted back, as the fog floats around him eerily. He clasps at his hair while singing "Close your mind". The whole time the lights around him shimmer slowly between off and on while a moody white spotlight remains on him.

My minds let loose now
So close your mind, look away and carry on

The lights flash menacingly like lightning as the two hooded and cloaked figures emerge from behind Franġisku again yanking him into the darkness. The beat fades into an explosion of an awesome drum solo from Alwiġi, merged into an electric guitar solo from Andrew which invoked cheers from the crowd. The camera buzzes around him like a bee as he has his moment in the spotlight. An eery and haunting La la la la la la echoes out into the arena. Franġisku's hysterical smiling face in a straight jacket appears on the back LED screen. We have various quick chaotic shots of each band member playing their instruments seriously with none of them looking at the camera floating around them. Franġisku's spoken vocals ring out as the camera cuts to a shot from the back of the hall showing the entire stage amongst the chaos. The lights rush around like helicopter searchlights searching for a criminal. The message was powerful and profound. The figure on the screen struggles and shuffles and finally breaks free of his straight jacket prison as the lights plunge to black.

I am a corrupt transmission
Just a load of damaged information
A slave living under this error

The camera reconvenes as we see Franġisku has reappeared in the middle of the arena in a parting created by the audience, to loud cheers. Franġisku was reckless and always tested the limits with his live performances. A lot of rehearsals had gone into making sure this was timed perfectly. Illuminated in a white spotlight he grins to the camera in front. Out of his straight jacket, we can see he's wearing a formal black and white horizontal-striped suit. His vocals are calm as he gulps for breaths after each line, preparing his vocal cords for the last chorus and run. He takes a few tender steps forward. A quick cut to a drum roll cuts back to Franġisku as the camera pans outwards as the crowd rushes inwards enclosing him as he sprints forward.

Try to think however hard you do
This false information begins to screw you
We won't be held responsible for what happens to your kind

The camera amongst the erratic swirling spotlights carries on panning out and up at an angle as he sprints towards the stage. We cut to a shot just below the edge of the stage as he vaults onto the stage to join the rest for the second line. He spins to face the audience. His sensual vocals soared as he gave it his all. The effort he gave was phenomenal especially after running to the stage. The LED screens violently strobe an off-white. Then came the wind machine with some force which blew against him as he lunged forward. Accompanied by various head bangs he thrashed and wandered around the stage and engaged the audience. For the last line, we switch between him and a frontal shot of Alwiġi on drums rapidly as we build into the next verse.

Corruption is the total sign
A sign and destruction of your lives
Don't act indestructible
Close your mind, look away and carry on!

He crumples to his knees as the close-up camera switched to a ghostly black and white. The lights flash violently around him giving him an excessively spooky and frightening appearance, his eyes cast in shadow barely visible, his speaking white teeth shimmering. His head bangs violently again. He jolts back up to his feet and drills his left index finger into the side of his head. With an evil smug smirk, you know, that creepy sinister kinda smile that makes a person look deranged, he glared into the oncoming camera but behind that icy stare was a mountain of pain as he sang from deep within.

I am floating in and out
Of totally fine and dysfunctional!

The camera pulls out from Franġisku as he straightens up and then gets back to his feet. The strobe lighting is blinding to the point the entire arena pulses with brilliant and flashing lights. The rest of the band plays their instruments to the extreme. The camera cuts to the middle of the arena and pans forward back to Franġisku whose clutching the vintage microphone violently as he leans it forward. His eyes were ablaze and his face pained as he belched out the last lines. The spotlights convene on him as he sways the microphone stand one last time before a shot of Pyros shoots into the air with a bang, ending the song.

Don't act indestructible
So close your mind, look away and carry on

Ecstatic applause erupts immediately as we cut to an upper-body shot of Franġisku. His face dripped with sweat he breathed heavily. His shoulders rose and fell with each breath as he soaked in the cheers, The rest of the band appear behind him and playfully ruffled his hair. Franġisku let out a sweet little smile. The band close in on him concealing him a tight hug! The camera cuts to an aerial shot of the audience as "MCG" chants rang out through the e-Hall. We cut back to the stage. "Thank you," Franġisku says modestly before bowing and then blowing a kiss. WorldVision, TICK! They had done it. Now only time would tell if they had done enough.

Song Title: Worth my Time by Birds in Cages

Greetings one and all, welcome to Millenhaal's entry in the WorldVision Song Contest! We have a fabulous show lined up, so buckle up! The song is Worth my Time, by Birds in Cages! A fabulous song, sure to please eager listeners! The raw power of Njels Brun's voice is really something to behold! Millenhaal has earned itself a reputation for bringing unique and interesting songs to WorldVision after last competition's song.

Image

Njels Brun, lead singer of Birds in Cages

Birds in Cages has just finished a world tour, so it must be daunting going straight into WV! They can handle it, we've come to expect the best and they've been happy to deliver. Gallifrey Sharrough, drummer from the band, and notably the first WV competitor from the Millenhaals colony of Corraghan, has been quoted saying "BiC is more resilient than a cockroach, and likely sounds better." We eagerly await their entrance onto the stage. Hopefully Millenhaal shall claim victory! It's uncommon for such a new nation in the Song Contest such as us to do as we have last season, but we're eager to top even that score!

Njels walks onto the stage, clutching his guitar. It's deathly silent; you could hear your own joints move. He stands there for a moment; silent. It feels like forever. The pale red spotlights dance around the stage slowly, an eerie lavender light surrounding the scene, until they converge on Njels. He looks up. He is bathed in white light from behind, as if he was among the clouds. He snaps into the opening riff, filled with intensity, a song befitting of a warrior. The rest of the band, obscured by black flowing curtains, slowly emerge. the light glinting of their instruments. Njels pulls up to the microphone and sings, the sound echoing throughout the room.

You try and demean us,
and you belittle our defense,
with these discordant noises,
we amplify our voices, create
a cause undefeated, the revolution's on its way
if we accept the poison then
our souls will die and slowly waste away

Rising up from the ground
The light that we've found will guide us
You emerge from the ground
You're coming around
To fight this war

Repeating a mantra that will usher our demise
Your posturing is pointless
You'll never change the choices we make
Metallic deceivers
From a planet far away
The way we lead our lives is ours now, so run on home or
We're gonna make them pay

Rising up from the ground
The light that we've found will guide us
You emerge from the ground
You're coming around
To fight this war

I saw how the universe wept
When it took you, don't let the fire make you ash
I see you for you and that's all
Know I'm with you,
You aren't facing this alone today

Rising up from the ground
The light that we've found will guide us
You emerge from the ground
You're coming around
To fight this war

Rising up from the ground
The light that we've found will guide us
You emerge from the ground
You're coming around
To fight this war

Rising up from the ground
The light that we've found will guide us
You emerge from the ground
You're coming around
To fight this war

Rising up from the ground
The light that we've found will guide us
You emerge from the ground
You're coming around
To fight this war

The 105th Worldvision Song Contest in Għain, Malta Comino Gozo recently concluded, and the contest was Aenglide’s second participation in the island nation, and it was also Malta Comino Gozo’s fourth hosting, and first hosting outside of the capital and largest city Valletta. It was also one of Worldvision’s few - if not one of the only Worldvision contests to have been hosted outside. The competition saw Aenglide’s first ever performance from a returning artist, which was rock band The Mercantiles.

The Mercantiles managed to take out fifth place, with a total of 187 points with their song “Raging Wildfire”. While not a bad placing at all, it was a slightly unideal placing for them, as their first participation in Norfolk Pinewoods, Beepee for the 97th Worldvision Song Contest where they performed their song “Benevolent Frequencies” was a runners-up placing. Back then, they amassed a runners-up placement only behind Polkopia, with 179 points. While Raging Wildfire gave the band 8 more points than their first participation did, they were three places behind their original second place, and four places behind winning, which is what they wanted to seek entering Worldvision for the second time.

The Mercantiles were hoping for a better result, and things looked hopeful when one set of 12 points was given to Waisnor very early on in the jury votes, however looked not so great towards the middle and the end of the jury votes. While a total of four sets 10 points helped to keep Aenglide’s high position up, this was shadowed by a continuous streak of eight juries that left an empty pit with Aenglide’s scores. The band showed some immeasurable disappointment during this time but did not let it ruin the fun that they’ve had for the rest of the night, and the gratitude that they’ve shown with the nations that did vote for Aenglide.

Unfortunately, their dream of moving a place higher to victory and Worldvision history did not become a reality. Luckily for them, this was still an excellent placement for Aenglide and nonetheless, Aenglish fans were still very supportive of the band for their great performance. In The Mercantiles’ fashion, they managed to keep the night alight with overwhelming enjoyment and happiness all around. But, now that Worldvision 106 was fast approaching, the Aenglish Worldvision fans, like every edition, wondered who would be representing the country next.

Regine at a stylist photography studio for Worldvision promotion

Regine Diane Andrassen, better known by her stage name as Regine, is an indie singer-songwriter from the City and Municipality of Knalheim, in Aenglide’s Fersor Province. Born on the 20th of July 1999, the 23 year old singer songwriter began to play piano at the age of eight, and has studied music throughout her educational life. While growing up, she watched Worldvision and became a fan of the contest, having the dream and aspiring to finally make it on the Worldvision stage.

After leaving school, she continued to pursue her dreams of being a musician, after also learning how to play the guitar and experimenting with electronic music. She released her debut album, entitled “Lucky Ones”, recorded in a studio in Knalheim. After establishing her musical career, she moved and become based in the Aenglish capital, Keterig, like most Aenglish musicians do. She’s released other singles and albums, with a couple of songs having previously made it on the Aenglish weekly music charts.

Cover of the 2023 single “Weave” by Regine

Weave is the title of the 2023 single by Regine, which has been internally selected by ÆTV as the Aenglish entry for the 106th Worldvision Song Contest. It is an electronic-dream pop song, and contains lyrics about “being free, and passing love around to everyone, weaving it around.” Written by three other music and lyric producers, this song was actually created a year ago, but searching for a call from ÆTV about Worldvision, it was only released before the contest.

After the song's release, the song has currently placed itself on the Aenglish music charts, peaking at fourth place as of now. It has gained decent reception from Aenglish Worldvision fans, who mostly describe the song as “cute, however not strong enough for the contest”. They predict that the song will end up as a possible mid-table entry on the final leaderboard, unlikely to beat previous entrants The Mercantiles. It’s gained very minor traction in other Worldvision countries.

The 106th Worldvision Song Contest was later revealed to be hosted in Buaka, South Batoko, after the city placed the only bid for the contest. It’s the first time that the nation has hosted the contest - after attempting to numerous times. They’ve finally succeeded in the hosting this time, and all of their previous attempts has made this contest worth it for them. Regine could not visit for long before focusing on Worldvision interviews, rehearsals and media, but she managed to arrive at the South Batoko capital a day before the whole show business began. Luckily, travelling to the city was not difficult, as South Batoko is a friendly regional neighbour in Novapax.

Out of her day, she managed to quite a bit, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to see it the next day. as she had to head back to her home in Keterig after Worldvision. However, she managed to tour the city, spotting historic sights such as Jaldan Church and the Tölsti Towers, which made Regine feel like she stepped back in time. The ruined state of both of the buildings really put into perspective just how old they really are.

On the grand night of Worldvision, it was announced that Regine would be performing in the 20th spot, coincidentally like The Mercantiles, who also participated in the 20th position last edition in WV105. Aenglide was performing in between the second Worldvision entry from Millenhaal, and an entry from our WMCA+ friends Waisnor. Regine is called to enter backstage to prepare for her performance, about five performances earlier. Unlike last edition in Għain, Malta Comino Gozo, where The Mercantiles performed after the sun went down the horizon, Regine did not have to be concerned at all about what time at night she was performing, as this time around, the contest is being held indoors, rather than the outdoor stage that WV105 provided.

Regine was incredibly nervous and afraid to enter the stage. After all the rehearsals and preparations for her performance, it was still not enough to quickly overcome the anxiety of the large crowd that would be sitting in front of her. She took a few deep breaths to take out the fear - and those breaths were all that she needed. Regine, despite being more or less a stranger to the international stage, was ready to take on her Worldvision performance.

As the performer from Millenhaal concluded their song, the venue lights were all shut off and dimmed. Regine was given the thumbs up to enter the stage, and the South Batoki stage crew helped her onto the stage, as well as bringing her microphone stand, placing it onto the centre of the stage, and setting up the stage smoke effects that would be clouding her stage and also setting up the lights.

As the postcard finished for Aenglide, the lights in the e-Hall brightened up again, and revealed Regine, who was wearing a long white dress, that went to the stage floor, with stage smoke covering the stage for extra effect to her performance. She is on the stage barefoot. The crowd cheered as soon as she was revealed on the party hat-shaped stage. Soon after her reveal on the stage, the music recording began to play. The intro begins with a roughly 10 second introduction of piano, before the synth drop kicks in and pink lights follow with every beat, reflecting upon the smoke on the stage. The background also shows cloud-like scenes with pink hues. Regine begins to sing the first verse a few seconds after.

Carry my heart on
Let it weave through the willows
I’ll let you possess my crown
Wear it how you want
I’ll come at your request
Treat you like the beautiful deity you are
And I’ll sing out my cries
Search all out for your love
I’ll weave it down the river
And send it down your line
Carry it beneath your path
For you are so divine

For the pre-chorus, she takes the microphone off of the stand, and walks with it towards the front of the stage, or the ‘top of the party hat’ if you will, as the stage is in fact based upon a party hat. While Regine makes her way to the front, various camera angles capture her walking with a few angles of the Buaka crowd, with many colours and flags mixed in.

Oh baby, forever ‘till you start to leave
(‘Till you start to leave)
Oh baby, let your love continue to weave
Oh baby, before the day turns to the dark
Oh baby, place your weary mind at ease

The LED screens behind Regine show a river within a blossom-tree lined forest filled with lots of pink tones, to reflect the mood of the song. In this verse, there are some shots of the stage in general, showcasing many various angles of the whole stage with Regine, as well as closer mid-shots and close-up shots of Regine. She begins to walk down the right side of the party hat.

I will never skip a beat
Of your heart, for how it sings
Carry it on into your dreams, and
Let it sing within
I’ll weave it down the river
And send it down your line
Carry it beneath your path
For you are so divine

The song gets to a bridge, and the lights are dimmed down lightly, as this part of the song has a slow, soft feel. Regine takes one knee at the front, facing the audience in front of her who are watching the performance from the right side of the stage. She takes a kneel on her left knee, buries it in the stage smoke, and looks up off into the distance while singing calmly. The cameras capture shots of only her face for the whole bridge.

Weave through you, and I
Weave it through our lives
Weave through you, and I
Weave it through the sky

Regine gets back up from kneeling and walks back to the centre of the stage, roughly where she began the performance at. The lights brighten back up and the impulses of light when the beats strike return. The cameras follow her walking across the stage, as well as general shots of the stage.

Oh baby, forever ‘till you start to leave
(‘Till you start to leave)
Oh baby, let your love continue to weave
Oh baby, before the day turns to the dark
Oh baby, place your weary mind at ease

After the second pre-chorus, the song breaks for a more or less 15-second long short instrumental, breaking the performance up. During this instrumental, Regine walks around the sides of the stage, and winks at a member of the audience to her left. The cameras follow her around, while also getting a shot of the crowd in the e-Hall, who can be audibly heard cheering during the instrumental. Shortly after this, Regine returns to the top of the party hat, to sing the final four lines that make up the last chorus of the song. She sings the lines beautifully.

I’ll weave it down the river
And send it down your line
Carry it beneath your path
For you are so divine
(You are so divine)

A little pre-recorded echo of the last line there ends the performance. At the end, the camera shows a face-on shot of Regine and the stage, who lets out a massive “THANK YOU!” to the Buaka crowd. She can also be heard panting, as she falls out of breath after the amazing performance that she had just put out to the entire world. As the lights fall in the e-Hall, the crowd is heard cheering and celebrating the performance from Regine and Aenglide, and the camera shows a woman in the audience with an Aenglish flag waving it around in joy.

Regine exits the stage, and the Waisnorian performer, who was placed to perform after Aenglide, prepares for their song and swaps with Regine for the stage. Regine is rushed off the stage, and back into the green room, where the Aenglish delegation comes to congratulate her on the success of the performance. Hugs are shared, tears of joy are cried, and an overwhelming amount of support comes to greet Regine from everyone around her.

WAISNOR

Svetlana Mikhalkova - Ne moy tsar'/Tune: IRU - Idea

Almost 20 edition ago, Svetlana Mikhalkova was among the first Waisnorian representatives in WorldVision. She took part in 87th edition in Peeto, Polkopia and placed 14th with the song "Sorvat' maski", which was actually a joint for the best Waisnorian result at the time. In the following 20 editions, a lot has changed, with 14th place not being seen as something incredible, and after scoring some new hits and getting her name firmly in Waisnorian music scene, Svetlana returns to WorldVision to bring Waisnor something more fitting their new form in this contest.

Going to the performance: she is seen appearing on stage wearing a black dress with some pretty big sleeves, but most importantly, she wears a little crown on her head. The lights on the stage are flickering to the tune of the music and the background for now is pitch black. And while all of this is happening, Svetlana begins to sing:

Говорил ты мне
You told me

Я не та
That I'm not the one for you

Что только во сне
That only in a dream

Я тебе чета
I'm equal to you

Ты думал, что меня можно взять и убрать
You thought you could just take me away

Ты думал, что мной можно повелевать
You thought you could control me

Я долго терпела
I endured for a long time

Но я протрезвела
But I sobered up

As the chorus kicks in, Mikhalkova is joined on stage by four people all dressed in black and hiding their faces behind masks, maybe as something of a reference to her previous WorldVision entry. When these people approach Svetlana when the chorus is repeated for a second time, they began circling around her and dancing while doing so. At the same time in the background several lines appear, becoming bigger and smaller, reacting to Svetlana singing.

Ты больше не мой царь, я больше не твоя служанка
You are no longer my king, I am no longer your maid

Я больше не буду для тебя партнером в смертельном танго
I will no longer be your partner in this tango of death

Лучше мне жить одной, чем быть с такой змеёй
I'd rather live alone than be with such a snake

Не думай, что буду скучать
Don't think I'll be bored

Soon enough these white lines on black background stopped reacting to Mikhalkova's singing and began forming a shape of the house with a lot of apartments in it. And as the background begins doing down, closer to the ground, the men in black are leaving Svetlana for a while, doing their own dancing behind her.

Правду говоря
To tell the truth

Ты плох во всём
You are bad at everything

И ты для меня
And you are

Ни о чём
Simply nothing for me

Ты думал, что меня можно взять и убрать
You thought you could just take me away

Ты думал, что мной можно повелевать
You thought you could control me

Я долго терпела
I endured for a long time

Но я протрезвела
But I sobered up

On the background, meanwhile, a figure of women leaving the apartment is shown, still drawn in black and white, along with some anime style imagery (although you could better call it manga style), consering the whole black and white thing. The men in black approach her once again and surround her on all sides, supplemented by some dancing from Mikhalkova.

After repeating the chorus once again, the men in black begin to take her arms and legs, separating her from the ground and preparing to take her somewhere. On the background, meanwhile, the screen is separated in three parts, showing the conflicts or the pair before the breakup, once again styled after the manga.

Не буду больше я тебя терпеть
I won't tolerate you anymore

Мне уже тошно на тебя смотреть
I'm tired of looking at you

Я могу без тебя прекрасно жить
I can live well without you

Ничего не будет меня тяготить
Nothing will bother me

And during the longer than usual break between the verse and the final chorus, men in black carry over Svetlana to the ladder, which is revealed to the viewers. Just as the chorus is about the kick in once again, Mikhalkova is placed on the very top of the ladder. Meanwhile on the background an image of woman standing at the top of the cliff appears, towering over everything below her.

After finishing the song, Sveltana waves to the crowd and says: "Thank you, people! So nice to see you all again! Waisnor is here!"
