Overview

The 2023 Card Awards return for another year, brought to you by the North Pacific Cards Symposium. It's time to look back at 2022 and recognize the efforts of traders across a variety of categories!

Rules

• Nominations last from now until 3/26/2022 at 6:00 AM CST.
• Nominated items must be relevant to the time period of January 2022 - December 2022. Please keep this in mind to minimize recency bias.
• You cannot nominate yourself or your own dispatches.
• You may nominate multiple people for one award if you please, but you may only vote for one of each award.
• A trader may win multiple awards.
• Nominations must be made via a post in this thread.
• After the nomination period ends, a voting form will be posted. Voting lasts until 4/8/2022 at 6:00 AM PDT.

Notes

• If possible, please provide explanations for each of your nominations.
• The nominee with the most votes wins the awards, and second-best wins the runner-up.
• When using the nomination and voting forms, fill out the stuff you actually want to fill out. Leaving certain things blank is completely fine.
• Nominations and votes will be voided if foul play is suspected.

Award List and Descriptions

Individual Awards

• Best Overall Trader: No matter where you stand in cards, you know that this trader is a big deal. They're not only everywhere, but they absolutely dominate in what they do. They may be a villain, a community leader, or a friend but one thing is for sure... they are the best of 2022!
• Best Rising Star Trader: The user who is a Rising Star is one who is new but shows promising potential. They have made numerous contributions despite them just starting out, whether it be for their collection, the market, or organizations specializing in cards.
• Hero of the Year: Whoever is picked here has shown themselves to be of exceptional help to the cards community. This may include providing help to other traders or regional cards organizations.
• Villain of the Year: Whoever is picked here has done the exact opposite of what the Hero does. They terrify the cards market by picking on the less wealthy traders, destabilize the economy of certain cards, or other things considered dastardly!
• Most Innovative: This person went out of their way to introduce new methods to tackle the cards market, whether it be developing new trading tactics, tools to facilitate trading, and more!
• Most Popular: This user has proved themselves to be well-known all across the cards community. Which one would you say has been “spotlighted” the most?
• Card Award 7845: Unofficially dubbed “The Makasta Award,” which user ended up making so many card puppets that it’s obvious that they're up to no good?

Awards Given to Various Card Things

• Card Event of the Year: Whether it be a user suddenly selling all their cards, the forming of a cards organization, an extremely long auction, et cetera, which 2022 cards-based happening was the most interesting to you?
• Card Surprise of the Year: What unexpected card event, update, or anything else related to cards managed to capture your eye the most during 2022?
• Card Fail of the Year: Not everything goes to plan for some traders! To you, which failure (whether it be someone getting heisted, a collection not being completed, etc) happened to be the most mind-boggling and/or upsetting?
• Card Publication of the Year: Yep, there’s even been news articles that detail happenings within the cards community! Which publication has been your personal go-to?
• Card Tool of the Year: If you use scripts (such as card farming scripts) and/or consult tools that provide needed card info, which has been the most helpful to you?
• Card Idea of the Year: For one reason or another, some user’s trading card idea really stuck to your mind and you’re wondering how implementing it would work. Which card idea was the most memorable to you?

Awards Specifically for Cards/Card Collections

• Card of the Year: Come on, you have to have one! It can either be a card that you personally favor or a card that’s definitely made an impact this year.
• Card Collection of the Year: Just because one user is the greatest in cards doesn’t necessarily mean that their collection is also the best. Sometimes, other users may prove themselves to possess collections of tremendously creative merit!
  
• Best Season 1 Card: Cards were completely different in value and appearance in season 1. Which one was the best for you?
• Best Season 2 Card: Season 2 dragged on forever, but surely a season 2 card still has a special place in your heart.
• Best Season 3 Card: What is currently your favorite season 3 card and why isn't it AoCI?
  
• Best Common Card: This card makes up the majority of all the cards in the game. Which one stood out the most to you?
• Best Uncommon Card: Cards that similarly make up a huge number of cards in the game, but with greater value. Which was your favorite?
• Best Rare Card: Rare cards aren’t the easiest thing to come by. You’ll occasionally find them in packs but not in every single one. Did any particular rare cards catch your fancy?
• Best Ultra-rare Card: Even harder to obtain than rare cards is ultra-rare. Many players appreciate the value of these and it’s hard to find a favorite. Which ultra-rare card did you like the most?
• Best Epic Card: Being the 2nd most valuable card rarity, epics are some of the most sought-after cards in the game! Choose wisely~
• Best Legendary Card: The rarest and most valuable cards in the game! Did any of these particularly catch your eye?

Absolutely Amazing, Alliterative, and Acclaimed Accolades

• Maddeningly Mad: Which user performed the weirdest, most entertaining, or craziest card stunts this year?
• Wealthy Beyond Words: Some traders possess so much bank that they can effectively monopolize multiple cards at a time. Which user made you feel broke the most?

Best Overall Trader: Vylixan, who has spent more time than probably anyone else in finding cards to collect and curating multiple collections even after deck capacity constraints, including several featured in the Collection Thread, as well as developing several scripts to help collectors; Vylixan is underrated and definitely deserves the recognition!
Best Rising Star Trader: Apexiala, founded at the start of 2022, and within one year has certainly made their mark on the community, as one of the select few nations to have ever had more than one million deck value and as a great collector with dozens of very diverse and unique collections.
Hero of the Year: 9003 for continuing his quest to collect every common even after deck capacity constraints were imposed and a month later all his extant bids were wiped after the Christmas outage.
Most Innovative: Racoda, whose RCES script has continued to dominate the issue answering for card farming scene even after script rule changes, and overall is a player among the most notable contributors to card scripts.

Card Event of the Year: The Great Inflation and Deflation, I'm putting those together since they happened on the same day and were overall a fun event to perform and also a much needed jolt of activity for the cards community.
Card Surprise of the Year: Season 3, which no one thought would come.
Card Fail of the Year: The Inflation Debuff, because unlike some people think, inflation is still very much alive!
Card Publication of the Year: Giovanniland Stole My bank, an epic saga of a heist that took place in the first day of 2022.
Card Tool of the Year: Atlae's One Click Bid or Ask for making the lives of collectors immensely easier.
Card Idea of the Year: Inflation once more, very prevalent than any previous year even after the market changes.

Card of the Year: Season 3 Lubiar, the first card placed on the market for Season 3.
Card Collection of the Year: 9003's collection of every season 2 commons, continued even after deck capacity changes and bid wipes.
Best Season 1 Card: 9003, not only for being most valuable within the season but also because the flag is a "work of art" and 9003 is a nice person.
Best Season 2 Card: Varanius, for Vara's use of it for inflation several times.
Best Season 3 Card: Overthinkers, awesome design and fits perfectly with the Ultra-Rare color.
Best Common Card: Season 2 Judea-Jerusalem, since I'm not yet at the stage of seeing which common card I'll be needing as the last one to complete my TWP S3 collection.
Best Uncommon Card: Season 2 Varanius for the same reason as above.
Best Rare Card: Season 3 You lose the Game, for making multiple people (including you that are reading this) lose The Game.
