What was your nation doing during WWII?

How was your nation during the WWII period, more specifically 1939 to 1945? Are you involved in the war, or quietly remain?

The Empire of the Aquaria was one of the nations which joined the Axis. This was due to Kajetan Kocurek, the 14th Chancellor's far-right catholic fascist ideology, which causes him to believe that it is better to give up the traditional alliance with France and Britain and become a close ally with Nazi Germany.

Kocurek's term as the Chancellor only started 3 years before the war. With the support of a large part of the military, he made a coup d'etat in 1938 to declare the Imperial Declaration, that he officially own the power as the eternal Regent of the Aquaria, being a succeeder of the monarchy to revive the Aqua race from the severe Great Depression (with the monarchy remains but have practically no power), and to conquer the world under one state, one religion, one race and one leader.

However, without proper preparation for war, at least much shorter than how long Hitler prepared, the Aqua imperial military was somewhat not a too effective force when the war really outbreak. In 1940, Norway, Iceland and Sweden were occupied by the Empire, but that is pretty much all for what the Empire have done. They are unable to fight the US-backed Britain militarily, and Kocurek even have to face disapproval and rising tension with Hitler, since both aim to conquer Europe.

Things never go expected. In 1943, the January Revolution outbreak in Laïkrina quickly spread nationwide. Nikola Lieblein, with the Communist Party and several other anti-Kocurek forces, formed the People's Republic of the Aquaria, and officially become an even larger threat to the Kocurekist regime. Along with the revolution, various colonies also declared their independence from the Empire, which severely damaged its strength of it. The PR Aquaria declared neutral and exit the world war, to focus fighting against the fascists.

A civil war come between 1943 and 1947, but of some sudden, both the United States and the Soviet Union stopped the attack on the Empire, which already fled to the South to become the South Aquaria. It is quite controversial on the action, but many people consider it a result due to the new cold war between both sides. The United States wanted a regime to contain the communist Aquaria's strength, while the Soviet Union will need a rest from war so that their power to fight the US will gather.

That is also a base of the North-South Division situation during the cold war until 1978.

We were on the allies side. We were occupied by the axis in late 1940. Under axis occupation the axis restablished the Monarchy, the ExKing had been in exile in Italy since he was forced to abdicate by the Marshall Jofre coup in 1926.
A National Government-in-exile was formed in London. Also a resistance movement was formed under allies help. My resistance Also helped with intelligence collection, the evasion of refugees (as Jews), downed allied aircrew, evaded pows and French and Belgians that wished to join their free forces.
On the other hand collaborationists served in the East front in the Heer and luftwaffe.
Also a Free Catalan Forces were formed from from evacuated troops, volunteers nationals and foreigners as Spanish exilées and Catalans resident abroad and colonial troops. Requipped first by the British (all my actual AF Squadrons with 3xx were Catalan maned RAF Squadrons during the war) and later also by American lend and lease. Thanks that most of the Navy joined the allies the Government in exile managed to secure our overseas colonies, from 1940-1942. Proaxis authorities allowed German and itaian submarines to replenish in their hunting runs in the Caribbean, South Atlantic and Indian Ocean and monsun missions. also my vessels served in the mostly in Mediterranean and Atlantic TO. In 1941-1942 the Japanese blitzkrieg conquered our East-Asian Posessions. That were not recovered before the end of the war.
Free Catalan Forces served in the Western Desert, Malta, Campaign, Italy and France in the liberation of our Homeland in 1944.
Inside my country not only there were struggles between both collaborationists and resistance, but also among resistance groups.
With operation Torch we recovered the Balearics and they became bases for the allied bombing campaign. Aside from direct confrontation between free Catalan Forces and royal armed forces. There were fights between the free Catalan Forces and the most radical elements of the resistance, that would became a civil war 1944-1947 after the liberation of our homeland continental part.

My forces liberated my territory in August September 1944. From 1944 my ports were used to supply allied troops. But my forces from October started disarming and integrating resistance forces in the new military that derived into a civil war as the radicals inside the resistance tried to start a revolution.
In 1945 my destroyer Oceà served as Token force in the Pacific integrated in the British Pacific fleet.
An expeditionary force was summoned to serve in the recovery of my East asian colonies but their landing scheduled for October 1945 was cancelled due to the surrender of Japan. But, was engaged in a post war colonial conflict 1945-1947.

Gandoor officially declared itself a neutral nation in regards to all foreign wars with the passage of the First Amendment to the Constitution of Gandoor in 1925 (with this amendment having been created in response to the unpopular involvement of Gandoor in World War I) and this neutrality remained during World War II with the Democratic Republic not becoming involved in the war.

In December 1941, shortly after the start of the Pacific Theatre of World War II, a treaty was signed between the Governments of the Empire of Japan and the Democratic Republic of Gandoor in which the Japanese government affirmed their recognition of Gandoorese neutrality and guaranteed that the Japanese Empire would not make any attempts to invade or otherwise conduct any military actions against the Democratic Republic of Gandoor.

Tangatarehua supported the Axis but was officially neutral, and its main contribution during World War II was facilitating supplies to the Japanese navy and providing intelligence on British and American ship movements in the Pacific.

The reason Tangatarehua was aligned with the Axis was because historically Britain and France have been Tangatarehua's main threats and biggest enemies and so the country has always tended to align itself with anyone opposing them. The fact that from 1943, the country fully embraced fascism was probably also a factor.

However Tangatarehua was very careful not to get involved in the war as it knew that it had no hope in hell of winning a war against the United States and so tactically remained neutral.

Aquilara, at the time, was officially neutral but suffered from on-and-off occupation by Axis powers. The country was small and was a key trade and port location; pushing back large invaders was difficult. Local militias acted in a guerrilla capacity, the thick jungle providing ample resources and cover.

During WW2, we were aligned with the Axis until 1944, with Sarpei's (Dictator of Cascadia, 1933-1943) hope of establishing a Greater Cascadia to consolidate his power upon. Sarpei himself went into power from a coup in 1933. They mostly served as a major support and a transport base, until 1941, when the United States declared war on Japan, and the Axis followed suit against the United States.

After 1941, the Cascadians Launched an Invasion against Canada and the United States. It initially went well, but Geographical Boundaries like the Rocky Mountains, the Great Basin, Cascade Mountains and the Forests made it hard to supply troops. Not only that, but protests in Cascadia started to heat up, fueled by execution of political opponent and author Joshua Moyes, leaks of genocides of Slavs (Mainly Russians), poor living conditions and other leaks televised. While the government was able to suppress the protests in earlier years, with more resources and loyal citizens, they couldn't stop them without pulling well-needed resources from their fronts.

As the protests boiled into riots or rebellions, The Cascadian Revolution started ravaging the country. Even with their power, they couldn't stop the US advances against Japan and their own land. Soon after, the Roosevelt and the Alberta Campaigns began, which helped push back the Cascadians far into their homeland with the loss of major cities, like Santa Marie or Boise.

As Sarpei sank down to rock bottom, the surrender of Sarpeian Cascadia came in January 2, 1944, one month after Sarpei was shot twice in the heart and lungs, crawling away from his destroyed motorcade and dying in the beachfront of the Okanogan River near Kelowna. His brother took office and surrendered soon after.

After Sarpeian Cascadia Surrendered, an Provisional Government led by former Cascadian National Party member Callie Chávez was set up, with portions of land being given out. The Cascadian Provisional Government continued to serve by the Allies Side, participating in D-Day, the liberation of France and the Benelux Countries, and assisting the US with its Pacific Front against Japan.

The Kingdom of Atrito, under the isolationist policies of King Christian II, tried to stay out of the Second World War, partially because of the damage that the Atriton Civil War (1928-1933) had done to the country. The isolationist policies of Christian II did not defend the country from the expansionist Empire of Japan, which repeatedly attacked Atrito, especially in the southern islands of Varasia and Garasia (the parts of Atrito closest to Japan). These attacks did not prevail in subjugating Atrito.

After the final Japanese attack on Atrito was repelled in 1942, the Atriton Navy attacked the Kuril Islands and Hokkaido, doing significant damage to coastal cities on Hokkaido. This attack was the only military operation that Atrito took in the war.

Despite fighting against the Japanese, Atrito did not join the Allied Powers, despite the United States and the Soviet Union both calling for the country to join the alliance. Atrito is officially described as an "Allied Co-Belligerent Power". Because Atrito did not join the Allied Powers, the country never signed the San Francisco Peace Treaty, or in fact any peace treaty, so the Atrito-Japanese War is technically ongoing, despite no military action happening since 1942.

We were neutral. Both sides had agreements not to visit Telbnis, but after the start of the war, they realised we were in a perfect tactical position and therefore would be very useful if we were on their side. They both came with their planes and boats, and somehow miraculously the islanders fought them off. That could be considered the first time Telbnis had contact with the rest of the world, but it was only with planes and boats, not the actual people, so it doesn't count.
(In terms of the perfect tactical position, Telbnis is bang in the middle of the Barents Sea, between Norway, which was controlled by Germany, and Russia, which was allied with Britain and the USA. You can see why both sides wanted us)

We were leaning to the allies from 1939-1940 but after the pearl harbour attack America went to war, and this brought its ally, Calorine, with it, Calorine played a crucial role in the pacific and a not-so crucial role in europe with around 15,000 Carolinee soldiers being sent to the Western european front, the majority of which in the invasion of southern Italy and around 5,000 in D-Day.

We were funding the Black Shirts of Italy as well as the Nazi party in exchange for protection against the British Raj and the Soviet Union.

Portzania tried staying neutral, but it was to no avail. Being a small chain of islands in the Mediterranean, they could not please the italians and British at the same time, and caved into Italian pressure, after a coup from the far-right party "The Black Hundreds". Shortly after the coup, from the Italians meddling with the politics, Portzania joined the axis. It had basically been a puppet of Mussolini.

40,000 Portzanian troops participated in the naval invasion and eventual siege of Alexandria in March 1942, but it turned out to be a military disaster, completely pushing the italians back to Tobruk, and both the Portzanian and Italian navies being destroyed due to their outdated equipment and officer incompetence. Portzanian was invaded in June 42' by British and Australian soldiers, and despite much resistance from the populace, Portzania capitulated in only 2 months later, though much of the guerilla war resistance kept fighting. Many of the naval ports and arms factories were blown due to the pro-axis government not wanting to be used as a spring pad into a Sicilian invasion, but it was to no avail. British suppression was particularly brutal to the populace and many citizens died in the occupation.

Following the end of ww2, the first president of Portzania, signed a treaty to officially recognize a democratic, presidential republic of Portzania. Although no territory was taken from Portzania, their military was neutered and were forced to pay immense reperations. Portzania is still a developing country today.

The nation of Ratitoue was a very advanced nation that sided with the commintern AKA the soviet union and was apart of the Battlr of Stalingrad and helped push Nazi Germany back into its homeland Ratitoue was also one of the only nations to raise the ratitouen flag in berlin we also faught in the battle of Moscow, Ratitoue had the strongest navy leading RAtitoue to many naval victorys across the Globe we a;so ahd a very good air force with planes that sir passed even germanys jet fighters in Ratitoues museum of national history we have a nazi flag in display. this flag was captured in the battle of berlin and was signed by five of the greatist generals in Ratitoue. these generals names were:
