Royal Quebecois Volleyball Federation (RQVF) is delighted to welcome the twenty-four competing nations of the Volleyball World Expo to the Kingdom of Quebec and Shingoryeo!

As the 'Everything Thread', this place is where you will post your roster and RPs, and also where the match results and fixtures will be posted. All games will be played within Quebec and Shingoryeo. IC information about Q&S and the host cities will be available on the post right below that of the OP, to be released at the end of December 4th.

Rosters

First, and arguably the most important step of your participation in any NS Sports tournament is to post a roster. It provides you with a rough with an overview of the team to work off of and helps others to roleplay with you! So, while it's perfectly fine for you not being able to RP, it is recommended that you at least post a roster.

Over the years, I have been asked multiple times by many users what would constitute the appropriate size of the teams or how many positions can the players hold. At a minimum, this should be a list of 7 players including a libero. This also means that you should aim to have at least one Right Side/Opposite, 2 Middle Blockers/Centres, 2 Left/Outside Hitters, a setter and a libero as well.

There is a bit more mix (and debate! too) with the maximum size of the teams - IRL it's 12 players + alternates for Summer Olympics, and 14 players for all senior cups hosted by FIVB (World Cup, World Championships), and Volleyball Nations League 14 players selected from a 25-player pool every week - and we have to consider how long the international competitions can take in indoor volleyball both IRL and ICly.

Thus, my general recommendation would be 12 players for squads with weaker depth/less money (important to remember that weaker depth =/= overall team strength) and either 14 players or 14 players + alternates for teams with stronger depth/more money for the federation to send more players to the competition. In this case, you should also aim to bring at least 2 Right Side/Opposites, 3 Middle Blockers/Centres, 3 Left/Outside Hitters and 2 setters. Beyond that, however, feel free to adjust the numbers as you need to do so.

Quebec & Shingoryeo Information

Quebec & Shingoryeo is a gigantic nation of 84 million people located in the Calania continent of northwestern Anaia, consisting of 12 provinces.

That said, due to its geographical location, as well as the complexities of the territorial planes over the Quebecois Realms, it identifies itself as a nation of both Calania and northwestern AO, and handles its border/territorial situations accordingly. Quebecois Realms and the N.A.F.T.A. Zone of five nations that are, for some complicated reasons soon to be RP'd in the last quarter of the OOC calendar year 2022, located in Anaia and Atlantian Oceania. For official administrative purposes, it is recognised to be within an Anaian location.

In Anaia, it borders former Semarland and New Gesem to the southeast and Huayramarca to southwest. In Atlantian Oceania, it borders Lacfroid to southeast and Whitecroft to southwest. South Detroit Free State, as a former Quebecois territory, is considered a dual-region state and qualifies under same regulations as the Quebecois Mainland in terms of border control. In terms of water, it faces Salamantic Sea and the Northandryun Strait to the West, Xile Sea to the East. North of the Quebecois borders stand Blood Sea, the maganimous ocean that stands between Anaia and Atlantian Oceania to Rushmore.

The land that is now known to be part of Quebecois Realms, which share boundaries with aforementioned nations of the N.A.F.T.A. Zone, is inhabited for millennia by the indigenous people present in the region. In the year 1404, the fleet of Joseonite exiles from the would sail into the so-called RL-verse move into areas that nowadays constitute the Acadie province and the capitol of Joongyeong, where the kingdom was founded in the same year by Henri I, who negotiated treaty of coexistence among all peoples of the nation, whether indigenous or Koreanophone.

Over the subsequent centuries, the nation would grow in size and technology. With the quiet incorporation of the neighbouring peoples, the expansion of maritime trade between Atlantian Oceania and Rushmore (and to some degree Tyran and Esportiva), subsequent industrialisation of the country's industries, and inconsistent operations of the interrealm portal, the Quebecois Empire would grow to incorporate territories across many regions.

The Empire, while formed by military warfare and supported by its allied nations (see: Gatchingerrak Union's constituent nations), was an odd one of own. It did not suppress the peoples or the cultures, but focused on the equal standings between the locals (this being mostly the ruling elites of the territories) who would fall under the mostly similar administrative and economic frameworks (citation needed for latter btw). Thus, the Empire was stood to be a short-term option with nations fostered to develop their own, nationalistic path over time. With the growing inequalities faced domestically at home, and the overseas territories becoming increasingly unmanageable in economic terms by the early-1900s, decolonisation and the further bloc-ification of the Quebecois Empire and its allies were inevitable and encouraged.

Eventually, the Empire would turn into that of the Quebecois Commonwealth, a loose political and economic union of two-dozen nations, with the process finished by year 1949. The nation, now without a glitter (and grime) of an empire, had to embark on their own path to redefine themselves. Continued encouragement of immigration from both Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth nations, which had coincided the postwar decades' excitement and calls for cultural liberalisation, would further diversify the nation. At the same time the resilient strength of the nation's economy, even after all the booms-and-busts of economic cycles, nationalisation and privatisation and re-nationalisation policies, would too ensure that Quebec and Shingoryeo, just over a century after the nation-defining Southern Rushmori War and the de-markation of the Quebecois Empire, and just under a decade after historical Foxchester Declaration, is still a darn good place to live, if slightly expensive.

Quebec and Shingoryeo is a federal parliamentary democracy and semi-constitutional monarchy, currently led by Christine II as the head of state. There are three official languages - English, French and Korean - with local indigenous languages spoken in regional capacity. Quebec and Shingoryeo has one of the largest economies in both regions, which is built upon its strengths in heavy industry, finance and agriculture.

As the seat of the former Quebecois Empire and the current Quebecois Commonwealth, Quebec & Shingoryeo has stood as a major power in Anaia and Atlantian Oceania. It has also maintained its historical status as one of major international powers in culture, science and philosophy - a feat achieved partly through the existence of Quebecois Commonwealth and its geopolitical location between Anaia, Atlantian Oceania and Rushmore, but also through long history of social and cultural homogeneity that originated from the nation's founding day. That said the nation, once an active participant in international wars, has stayed peaceful and relatively conflict-less, and is expected to uphold the past forty years of peacetime.

Travelling to Quebec and Shingoryeo is a fun, multi-planar experience (lol) of own. It can feel daunting and all that - I totally understand it!

So, with this in mind, here are some travel tips you could use for next the month of fun on the Quebecois west coast:

1. Laws, laws and laws.

Quebec and Shingoryeo is known to be a fairly liberal country in terms of certain laws, and it's partly true. That is probably why you are smelling a bit of marijuana and may be drinking too much on an outdoor patio of a local delicatessen while walking down the street.

The minimum age to purchase and consume substances vary in what substance - 14 for alcohol, 16 for marijuana, and 21 for tobacco. Possession and consumption of said substances (which also include a narrow list of recreational drugs) outdoors are predictably legal as well, though some boomers and fitness maniacs may openly judge you if you do them in a park or somewhere that is public.

There is a total ban on indoor public smoking, however, and this extends to sporting events in general. Drinking on indoor venues, while not prohibited, will be frowned upon. Besides, why would you drink indoors when there is just a pub down the road with way cheaper and better quality Anju? Drugs trade, unless they are from a legal vendor and for legal substance, is banned. So if you are a local or a tourist, you are more than welcome to go to a state-owned Cannabiscorp or a co-op store and buy stuff instead.

What is no different than other past hosting nations are firearms. Firearm ownership, let alone use, is heavily restricted in Quebec and Shingoryeo with exceptions only given to those whose work requires it (e.g. shooters, pentathletes, some members of the police and the military), or those who have likely survived months and several dozen pages of the application process for a hunting rifle. For the sake of this competition, let's just assume that it's probably not a good idea to not bring your favourite Glock or Colt .45 to Quebecois soil.

2. Quebecois Pound (Q£) is the national currency. The exchange rate is roughly Q£1 = NSD 2.00. Foreign credit cards will be accepted into most bank ATMs.

3. As seen above, Quebec and Shingoryeo has three official languages - English, French and Korean - with local indigenous language(s) also used on a regional capacity. While all three languages will be used in an official capacity, the language dynamic there is a bit more complicated - the best way to describe this is by using a quote from Sylvain IV 'The Thinker', the great-grandfather of current Christine II - 'I speak English to a Banker, French to a Dancer, Korean to a Thinker, and the Original Tongue to a God.' In the Northwestern part of Quebec, English and Korean are primarily spoken.

4. Quebecois people are usually known to be talkative, celebratory and most importantly blunt, and they will rarely apologise or remain polite unless on close capacity. While those in need of help or directions will always be helped, and you will be set for a long time after that, it is expected that the help is asked first by those to whom this may concern. That said, once the help is sought out and all goes well, you will be set for the rest of your time here, and may have found yourself a lifelong mate to come stay over or drink with.

5. The rights of freedom of speech and assembly are guaranteed. That said, this does not mean freedom from consequences.

In adherence to the security protocol established back back in the Games of the 16th Olympiad, there will be strict security checks when entering the venues and team hotels, with additional personnel placed across the city. Unlike with the Olympics, however, there will be more lax security regulations -- flares, obscenely large banners and limited display of hooliganism will be tolerated. Displays of hate speech will not be tolerated, however.

6. The question of religion is a complicated one, perhaps even more so than languages. Traditionally, Roman Catholicism, Mahayana Buddhism, Anglicanism, and Indigenous religions are considered as four religious pillars of state and are viewed with particular interest by the state and people. All four pillars, as well as other minor religions, incorporate various elements of native shamanism and folk traditions and do not always follow the rules from Vatican or Canterbury, something that has complicated the authority-to-authority relations over the Interrealm portal.

The rights of religion are unquestioned here, and this will remain the same throughout the course of your stay in the country. People tend to be careful being aware of other person's religions though, and their way of addressing it is usually not asking about them. At least not on the first impression/moment, or else they are viewed as rude.

7. If you need police, fire or most importantly medical help, please call 777. (Yeah, it's literally 777).

Visitors and athletes of delegations will be able to receive excellent and prompt care from the city's hospitals and walk-in clinics under the People's Healthcare Services (PHS). Specialists may take a little bit longer time to reach, but for the most part, will be there for you in time. Those interested in consulting services re: traditional medicine will be given referrals, but those likely require a friend or two, or a local jack, who knows one.

8. Food and alcohol here should be fine, if slightly spicy. Influenced by the indigenous fare and the influences of haute cuisine coming from the Joseonian settlers of old, the Quebecois cuisine is largely based upon rice, and other diverse kinds of grains, vegetables, and meats. In this part of Calania, moose, lamb and caribou are known to be particularly popular, which have long survived the wave of delicacies that are no longer eaten.

They are also known for their intensive use of spices, sauces and pastes. Seafood is extremely popular across the country, though their affordability remains up in the air unless you reside on the West or East Coast - more inland parts usually consume freshwater fare instead. Quebecois do not have a particularly picky taste of alcohol in general, though what alcohol you drink usually depends on your cultural background and socioeconomic demographics. Smoking culture is massive here, and while cigarette smoking is very slowly declining over the years, marijuana's prominence in society is not something that's being challenged anytime soon.

HOST CITIES

The Ministry of Sport and Recreation, as well as its internal body, the Imperial Sporting Council, has loosened its preference toward a region-based hosting system for the international tournaments hosted in Quebec and Shingoryeo. The system, while used promote easier, more environmentally-friendly travel, as well as fostering regional interest in a sport of concern, has faced increasing amount of opposition from the more powerful federations involved with the ISC, one of those being the RQVF.

Thus, in a bid proposed by the Royal Quebecois Volleyball Federation, there will be four cities hosting the fifteenth Volleyball World Expo. Three of them - Songak, Joongyeong and Bathurst - have all served as host cities for past VWE competition. Attawapiskat, while not a past VWE host city, has served as a host city for the 24th Handball World Cup. To see the travelling logistics and schedule needed check below:

Group A, Third Round & Group B, First Round - Attawapiskat

The first host city announced is the city of Attawapiskat (popn: 750,000). Built by the Quebecois Government in hosting a central location for both the indigenous peoples of the Quebecois northwest, as well as the hundreds of thousands of immigrants from what's now Gatchingerrak Union back in the mid-1800s, Attawapiskat has always been viewed as the 'the northern city of oddities' in the eyes of southerners or the Capitoliens. With this in mind, it has always been home to the most progressive of social and cultural trends, with many of the policies that have built the Quebecois social net being tested here before making their way to Joongyeong or Songak. It has also meant that the city, while not being left out politically unlike those out on the west coast, has seen plenty of tensions over the years. Unlike in Manitoba, where the socially progressive NPD or the Greens have dominated for a few decades, Attawapiskat remains a war zone between NPD, centre-left PJLQ and the Greens, with the Indigenous Alliance having solid power as well.

Attawapiskat is essentially a city of two halves, separated by the steep mountains that differentiate them and their industries. Northern half of Attawapiskat is mostly what the tourists, and those who have only visited it a few times for sporting purposes, recall - City of Attawapiskat Stadium (Zenit Attawapiskat's football division), the Northwestern University and the Zenit's sports complex. At the same time the northern, sea-level half of Attawapiskat is also remembered for Arlenian-era townhouses built in the Norsk style, the Royal Quebecois Air Force Museum, and high volumes of restaurants and local markets. This is the half where the districts have become younger by demographics, with houses becoming more expensive and rooms smaller as the people from rest of Quebec strive to move there. Whether this will affect small, cozy nature of the city remains to be seen.

On the southern, inland half (altitude: 1,700-2,000m), the Inner-Attawapiskat was first developed in the 1940s and 1950s, with the largest Royal Quebecois Air Force base in Quebec moving there from the northern tip of the city's borders, while the suburban houses and relatively newer office buildings dot the rest. It is home to the University of Attawapiskat campus and the on-campus Quebecom Arena, home to the QHL team Attawapiskat Avalanche and QWBL team Attawapiskat Nuggets, and often hosts the Quebecois national basketball and hockey team games. The road system continues to become nightmarish, and the expansion of the metro system has been ongoing for 2 decades in order to not only alleviate the pressure, but also to improve road safety - it remains one of the riskier cities in Quebec to drive.

1. Quebecom Centre, Attawapiskat South - Capacity: 21,360

Located on the southern, inland half of Attawapiskat, Attawapiskat south is a lot more spread out area in terms of density with a small core of high-risers and many districts of low-floored houses built in the postwar era over a century ago or in the 2010s (already 40+ yrs ago!), a major decade of prosperity for the city. Unlike the city proper, which is known for being religiously diverse and ambiguous, the southern half of Attawapiskat is more known to be Lutheran or indigenous, though this does not change from the high tolerance the Katians have maintained in the decades. The Quebecom Centre, built 40 years ago for Attawapiskat Avalanche, has slightly aged, but the arena remains in great shape partly thanks to the consistent renovations and upgrades done by the QHL club's ownership over the years.

2. Gwangbok Centre, Attawapiskat North - Capacity: 10,700

While the Royal Quebecois Air Force base had long moved, the RQAF's Zenit Attawapiskat multi-sport organisation remained in the heart of the city's northern half. With its sports complex located right in the centre and the City of Attawapiskat Stadium just 200m away, the Gwangbok Centre is accessible from anywhere in the city and its network of canals and six islands. Downtown Attawapiskat has become more ethnically diverse in recent decades, but for the most part, it has retained its Norsk heritage, with the signage and street/place names still mostly written there, and the National Heritage Foundation placing heavy restrictions on demolishing or altering buildings or houses. As for the arena, Gwangbok Centre is an old arena built in 1945 and required a renovation before the opening of the second group stage.

Group A, First Round & Group B, Second Round - Bathurst

The second host city introduced will be Bathurst. Wildly considered as the midway point between Joongyeong, the nation's capital, and Dongnae-Halifax County, the fourth-largest municipality with a strong economy and industry, it also connects the industrial southern half of Acadie and agricultural Saguenay province on the northeast of the country. It is generally viewed as the centre of the Acadie province's less developed, mountainous and more traditional northern half, and has leaned more conservative in past. The powerful presence of Quebecois aristocracy, as well as the landed gentry, often means that their political and economic representation has gone somewhat back and forth in the contemporary period.

Having served as the provincial capital until 1868, Bathurst is traditionally associated with its status as the regional centre in almost every capacity, with its relative prosperity and modernity attributed to the industries it was able to keep. Economically it still holds a lot of its stakes to agriculture and fishing, with by the Gonyang Plains to its direct west, and the fishing villages to its east, even as the largest employers are the Quebecois Government, the Royal Quebecois Air Force and museums. Centred by historical buildings that house those institutions, as well as its three universities, including Mount Ester University, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country, and many secondary and other post-secondary institutions that attract students from all over the province, Bathurst has survived the past waves of economic stagnation in the region and emerged a stronger city.

Due to its relative distance from the largest cities, as well as the social climate of the region, Bathurst is a relatively homogenous city in terms of demographics, with most of the ethnic minorities coming from those of the Quebecois Commonwealth and/or their time as students. Greater concern does come from the language dynamics in the city, where the aristocracy and the middle class tend to be English and Korean-language speakers, and likewise with those to the west of the city's boundaries, while those east of the city's borders is primarily French speakers with greater disgruntlement. Otherwise, the city has stayed relatively quiet, conflict-free and peaceful, with the key focus lying on rural affairs and the much-opposed development of its suburbs. The residents are often proud of their city and may identify closer to Joongyeong than Dongnae-Halifax County, due to the great three-way divide inherent in the province.

1. Hersey Centre (Capacity: 13,450)

Just two squares walk from the QNR station and the City Hall lies the Hersey Arena. Sponsored by the Hersey Investment Group based here, it is located in the city's Downtown, which has stayed quaint and charming even as the city continues to evolve. The Downtown residents, usually of Middle Class or Mount Ester students, are usually known to be snobbish, early adaptors with particular attachment to local sports teams. The multipurpose arena, built twenty years ago for the QOVO-women's team Drillers, is nowadays about ten years old with two dozen boxes on the top floor, and a local sports museum attached to it.

2. Ssangye Arena (Capacity: 5,680)

Ssangye is a small city located about thirty minutes drive or twenty minutes train ride just west of Bathurst. While a small city of 45,000, Ssangye is an inland city known for its mountains, small villages draped across the boundaries, and the never-ending rice paddy layers over the rolling hills, and its own reputation in volleyball. Ssangye Arena, while usually for the Ssangye College, a local liberal arts college, as well as the Bathurst Board of Education, is a decently-sized arena eligible for IBC and VWE regulation matches, and is selected for that purpose. The arena, home to occasional youth national teams' training camps, too shares a long history of the national team and professional alumni coming from the city, and its intimate atmosphere reflects such. Outside the arena, there is a beautiful flowers festival that's renowned across Quebec and Shingoryeo, so if you are curious to enjoy the late-May vibes, this time of the year may be the best time to do so.

Group A, Second Round & Group B, Third Round - Joongyeong.

Located at the midway point between Fleuve Saint-Henri and the mouth of the River to the East Sea, Joongyeong is the nation's capital and widely viewed as the 'Soul of the Nation'. Founded in 1504, when Henri I, the founding monarch of the Jeong House, established the kingdom on a treaty between the indigenous tribes of the area, and named it 'Joongyeong', as the centrally-located capital, on the meeting place of all forces of power. Like with Songak Joongyeong quickly grew as did the Quebecois nation and subsequently the Empire, as Quebec City was the heart of the country where the intelligentsia argued about its identity, the nobility about how to survive and evolve in consistently changing world around them, and the foreign interests looking to take part in their own missions.

As the Quebecois Empire peaked in mid-1800s to early 1900s, the finest legacies of the era were often said to be 'built on Songak, Kingston and Halifax's might, the reach of the Quebecois National Railway Company, and flowered in Joongyeong'. That's why what we remember as Quebecois fin-de-siecle, one of the finest periods mentioned in history, literature art history textbooks, is heavily focused on the city itself. Unlike Montreal, where the romanticist and ideological movements were based more around nationality and also the class, philosophical and political movements continued to remain more abstract and existential in the 'Northern Paradise', guarded by Universite St. Croix's famous Seongyoongwan University College and its constituent colleges, as well as its cafes, sporting venues (horse races, polo, Taekgyeon and Sseuireum were lot more common back then) and salons.

There was for a period of time, especially in the 1940s-1960s during which the Capitol, partly due to the divide between Quebec and Novopetrogradian Soviet Union that brought temporary cold war before their reconciliation, as well as the Post-wartime euphoria, had seemed to be frozen back in time. Unlike Montreal, however, Joongyeong was able to maintain consistency in its own significance as both the Palais Royale, the Parliament and the house of all four Quebecois pillar religions (Buddhism, Anglicanism, Catholicism and Indigenous Religions) remained in the country (not that it was gonna leave anyway), and with innovative urban planning processes, Joongyeong has become the seat of relevance it sought on own.

Being the heart of Quebec, the 'City of Eternal Lights' is a traveller's paradise as hundreds of museums and monuments form the city. Among them, the most popular ones are the Commonwealth Museum, the Garam Museum of National History and Northern Calania, as well as Sainte-Victoire Gallery and Royal Shingoryeoite Gallery. The Royal Quebecois Ballet and the Quebec Philarmonic Orchestra, two largest among hundreds of classical arts organisations, are hosted in the Royal Walton Hall and Pavilion Bakhmeteff. While the nobility and haute bourgeoisie usually stays out of public celebrations and events, the city's force majorite is usually out in many festivals that dot the city's calendar - the most famous being QBC Proms that mark the city's summer. For those who come here to see some of the city's older histories, they would be charmed by the Daemyeonggong Palace, Sandringham Abbey and also Arlene and Richard Museum which do their best to explain the fabled history of the royals.

The Quebecois sports teams usually host at least one home series in the nation's capital's various state-of-art venues, most notably so with The Reneegrad, the new temple of Quebecois football. CSKA Quebec, the other pan-sport organisation in the country, is the major draw here (and in many sports, the only draw), due to its developmental system that incorporates the entire city, association with the IRSEA program, and the universal fanbase that is only rivalled by that of Montreal Koreana.

As for the arenas themselves, Arena Jacques-Lee-Woodpecker is located on the Alexandre IV District of Quebec City, just 5 minutes walk away from Bibliotheque Nationale de Quebec on east and 10 minutes west of Parc D'Armistice, the largest urban park in the Downtown area. Located right next to the Colisee Royale, this is where CSKA Quebec, the second-winningest men's and winningest women's volleyball team in Quebecois history, plays its volleyball matches. It is a slightly-aged arena that could see some upgrades on refurbishments, something that had limited its use for non-volleyball purposes in the recent decades, but 'The Woodpecker', as a volleyball-specific arena, holds sight lines and stands very close to the audience and is considered to be particularly audience-friendly as a result.

On the other side of the Alexandre-IV District, about a fifteen-minute walk away from the city's other arena for this tournament, lies state-of-art L'Arc-en-Ciel. The 21,580-seater, while normally used by CSKA Quebec's basketball teams, sees diverse use across most indoor sports and has hosted a half-dozen international competitions up to this point, including the VWE 11 and 14. It is filled to the brim, and the regular renovations and additions have continued to maintain it as a top-class venue for both domestic and international competitions.

West Barack and East Obama National Volleyball Team

A Brief History of Obaman Volleyball

Volleyball as a sport is prohibited in West Barack and East Obama, along with other team sports such as football, rugby and paintball. This is because the prevalence team sports has a strong correlation to organised crime, violence and political dissidents, so all attempts at forming groups are prohibited. However, West Barack and East Obama has established an official national volleyball team to help promote Obaman values on the international stage.

The inaugural West Barack and East Obama National Volleyball Team will make its debut at the 15th Volleyball World Expo, hosted in Quebec and Shingoryeo.

PEMECUTAN WOMEN'S NATIONAL VOLLEYBALL TEAM

Pemecutan is back again to perform at the 15th edition of Volleyball World Expo. It is the 7th appearance of the country in the event. Their best result was in 14th edition where they were finished in Quarterfinal. In the end, they placed 8th after a defeat against Bollonich in a positioning match.

Just as previous edition, Pemecutan is represent by the all-female team. This is in coincidence that only women's domestic league that is running. Although VAP have hinted the plan to establish the men's league.

Cassadaigua has appeared in the Volleyball World Expo often throughout its history, and were the champions of the sixth edition, which came one tournament after hosting the fifth VWE. They are coming off a runner up finish in VWE 14, and had that same result in VWE 4. As such, there has not been much turnover with the roster. Unfortunately, the one player no longer on the roster is Kristen Kruse, who at 34 is still active domestically, but has retired from international play.

Many have asked regarding the sudden absence of the United Adaikes in international sporting competitions.

The biggest sports-related corruption scandal in which former United Adaikes Sports Commission (UASC) Chairman Pouria Barr was implicated also included domestic league match-fixing, and bribery, among others.

Regular patrons, both individual and corporate, and even minor sponsors pulled out their support towards national teams of the United Adaikes. At the same time, while most of the wrongdoing was done domestically, patrons and sponsors won't return to supporting the national teams unless a whole cleansing of the United Adaikes Sports Commission is done by re-electionist candidate and current President Lucas Salazar.

Currently, in election season, Salazar is barred from appointing any officials to the government and must wait until 45 days after being sworn in again as the country's chief executive, as political pundits are dead-sure that despite the scandal, Salazar will still be re-elected.

The commissioners and other third-level officials in the Commission resigned because of the said incident. The current highest-ranked official in the UASC is the National Sports Association (NSA) Affairs Head Ezra Moors, who is currently the de-facto caretaker of the Commission approved by the three branches of the government. Moors was also allowed to have assistants in making sure the Commission could continue performing its mandate.

Commissioners and chairpersons from the domestic leagues and national sports associations related to the scandal have also resigned, including the Adaikes Premier Football league system, the United Adaikes Basketball Association, the United Adaikes Tennis Association, and the proposed domestic league for gridiron football, among the high-profile sports seen that had seasons stopped midway and national team practices canceled.

The only remaining domestic league system that could continue was the Adaikes Volleyball League.

While three teams were initially investigated, and the allegations were minor, the Supreme Court did not see the need to halt the games. With that, the national team, currently ranked 14th in the world, was not disturbed and continued preparing for participation in the 15th edition of the Volleyball World Expo.

Chromatik volleyball has reached a niche, cult-following status - it's not necessarily mainstream, but the fans are rabid and really believe that their team is one of the best.

The Starting Six remain the same - they're used to playing with each other by now. Most attacks will come from Samuel Jung, Kim Do-Ya remains the best overall player on the squad, and Nancy Niles is the team's ace. Don't be surprised to see Allyson Gandorf come in for Lance Gerard as needed, while Marseille Vicero is a very good Setter and can sub in for Nancy Germain as well.

Nothing short of a title is needed to gain the attention of the Chromatik public at large. Whether or not this team is capable of doing that remains to be seen.

Volleyball continues to be quite the niche sport within Atheara. Despite the somewhat success of an Athearan National Volleyball Team back in VWE 13, the country failed to capitalize on the momentum due to being unable to participate in the 14th Volleyball World Expo. Not only that, many of Atheara's players back then have decreased in terms of skill, meaning a new team would have to be formed. Once again, the Volleyball World Expo will be hosted by the nation of Quebec and Shingoryeo. For team Cassadaigua, the hope is that once again, they will reach the finals but perhaps do one better and win the championship again. The last time they were here, Quebec knocked off the Fillies in an exciting game. It's now been two years, but the roster is mostly the same with one exception, which unfortunately is the international retirement of Kristen Kruse. The 34-year old still participates at home, but acknowledges that her level of play is not the same as it used to be, and thus she did not want to be considered for the national team. That was refreshing for manager Shannon O'Rourke, because she would have had to deal with a lot of criticism, even if it was unwarranted, for leaving Kruse off the team. But let's make sure to give Kristen her due, she was a great player for this team for many Expos. Now, Alyssa Thomas, who has served as her backup, will get her chance to start. Otherwise, the lineup is the same other than new face Brittney Waldman, who takes the backup spot that Thomas moved up from.

It will be a long group stage. 24 nations signed up, but the hosts opted for two groups of twelve over other arrangements. This will mean an eleven game group stage, which is a single round robin, all played in Quebec. Of the format, first time captain Gabrielle Nugent stated, "It's going to give the home fans a lot of volleyball to watch, and keep players and any traveling fans in the host cities for a longer duration of time. That will be good for the various local economies. For the players, it might get a little exhausting as it wears on, but it is a friendly format that will allow for the true best nations to rise to the top over the long haul. This is a game we love, and no one should be complaining about more opportunities to play."

Also a story is the retirement of coach Shannon O'Rourke following the tournament. The 65 year old told reporters, "I had this ear marked a little while for when I would step down. It's the right time, it has been a real honor to coach such amazing players over the years."

This is once again a women’s team, which reflects in part the weak state of men’s volleyball in Græntfjall. This is perhaps surprising as the “land of the frost giants”, pumping out Big Fucking Græntfjallers in everything from football and basketball to handball and water polo – but then that’s the point, there’s simply too much competition for talent, and few tall men would choose a relatively niche sport when ample opportunities exist in other games. But with the women’s basketball and handball scenes lagging, a stronger talent pool seems to have emerged among the women.

The Royal Quebecois Volleyball Federation, in continuation of its practice also shared by Basketball Quebec (BQ) and Quebecois Handball Federation (QHF), is proud to continue its practice of sending mixed teams with expanded rosters to international competitions, even as the QOVO.1 leagues remain gender-separated. In terms of who the team plays, the RQVF maintains a different policy than BQ, and will maintain a straightforward policy:

Quebecois men will play against male teams. In case there is no specified team due to lack of roster in past (generally counted as tournaments VWE 9 onwards), or there is a mixed team that mostly consists of male players, the male team will play.

Quebecois Volleyball In Nutshell

Alongside (ice) hockey and basketball, Volleyball's considered one of the three indoor jewels of the Quebecois winter sports. It is one of few countries in the Multiverse where both men's and women's indoor volleyball have remained highly popular, and the QOVO.1 and QOVO.2 leagues sees fairly even television ratings and attendance figures among both sexes.

Unlike the basketball teams, the volleyball teams maintain separate heights, with the women being slightly taller than average (OOC: compared to RL, that is) and men having roughly average heights, and the RQVF competition policies reflect this. The parity of talent and international success shared between the Quebecois men and women, as well as the fact the two national team programs had played against each other for most part, means that there is less need and even lesser need to double-squad the benches. That said, as the returning world champions, this version of Grim Reapers aims to be no different than most of their top 10 opposition in their ability to ride the benches, and will actively use the substitutions where needed. One may argue that is where their strengths lie - consistent depth - but that may also be a different word for 'lack of a clear best 7'...

Four years have passed since the Grim Reapers, arguably in the middle of a golden age, won their second straight world title on home soil. With Quebec and Shingoryeo being awarded the hosting rights for the 16th Summer Olympics, the RQVF and the IVF agreeing to postpone the hosting of the 15th Volleyball World Expo until 2057, one year after the Olympics (OOC note: up to an individual user to say whether it was 2/4 years or longer). The decision, viewed to be controversial within Joongyeong circles for prioritising Olympic competition at the expense of world championships, has caused major controversies, with the IVF President, David Mainville, having to apologise for its poor handling of the tournament.

Anyways since their home victory a lot had passed. The Quebecois would end up performing well in the Olympics with the men's team, led by team's world-class setter, Jin Chang-Wook, in what's a very strong pool of young talent, won their second consecutive gold medal to cap off their era of dominance. While their second consecutive gold was no doubt sweet, there is a minor sentiment that it does not hold as much weight due to home advantage and the absence of their biggest rivals in the Bollonischians. As for the women's team, however, they would end up facing great competition, one that is expected from the strong state of women's volleyball in multiverse, that would last all the way to the gold medal match when they fell short to a very deserving Banijan side.

Following the Olympics, changes started to come. Pierre-Stephane Jobin, the team's coach for the past decade, was given a contract extension, while assistants Yi Joon-Cheol and Andrew Bryant-McCullis, former managing the Olympic team and latter contributing majorly to the VWE team, were also retained. While little has been officially announced, it is expected that Yi and Bryant-McCullis, who have both played a great part in the current group of national teamers, are expected to compete for the succession.

As for the women's team the changes were more apparent, as team coach Kim Yu-Jin decided to take time off from coaching, allowing Miguel Jorge Arrado, her long-trusted assistant, to take over in her place. Arrado's appointment, one that involved his selection over renowned youth coach Naomi Heo Goldbloom (also known as the wife of legendary baseballer Heo Myeong-Shin), was considered controversial, due to most of Arrado's coaching career coming from assistant and analyst stints on both national and club sides. With Arrado on a very short leash, especially in comparison to well-liked Goldbloom, it is expected that any extended stretch of struggle would cause turmoil within the team.

In any case, both men and women's teams see the players coming from the pre-existing pool of players with past national team experience - all of Olympics, IVF WorldLeague and the VWE - and this tournament is expected to figure out a team for future cycles to come.

On men's side, there is a particular wealth of outside hitter talent with Elmedin Bratusa, the son of Mytanar basketball coach Vahid of Kingston Raptors, and former team ace 'Ivan Stankic', well established as starters. Both libero and setter spot continues to be Team Quebec's strongest spot, howeverm with Zackaël Lapierre, who has announced his retirement post-VWE, and Jin Chang-Wook, team's world-class setter and two-time Olympic tournament MVP, returning. But for their respective strengths they also have shortcomings. The men's lack of a clear-cut option on the opposite is nowadays an issue, with neither Yeo Tae-Joon, a short, left-handed speedster or powerful Benoit-Antoine Aplin convincing the coaching staff on post-olympic times, something that many have suggested could become a problem this cycle. Middle blocker spot is also less than ideal, with Sung Han-Yong expected to do his work, but Mariusz Stanislawski slow on footwork and Ethan Homebush is prone to make untimely errors. Men's team's success or failure will most likely come down to how they overcome these issues, and less so on expecting their pre-existing strengths to do well.

As for the Quebecois women, the challenge is to maximise the utility of its two biggest stars - outside hitter Yang Soo-Gyeong of Atletik Thessia (MYT) and Montreal Koreana opposite Natalie Wesoloski-Okafor - and to find their answers elsewhere. It does enjoy strengths on libero spot, where 35-year-old Nadine-Erin Page continues to be a human dig machine, and a very stable middle blocker rotation with solid height. Their challenge, however, lies on figuring out the wing depth, especially with Wesoloski-Okafor's occasional stretch of struggles even mid-match, and Natalia Horakcova's retirement exposing a major hole in the team that aims to avoid relying too much on Yang or Wesoloski-Okafor. The team remains positive about the outlook, however, and intends to use their backup options wisely. Yulia Sabanadze, a high-flying opposite with rapid swing motion, and explosive Kang Seon-Mi are capable of doing the job offensively, but in the case where on-court defence is shaky (note that they have only brought Page as a libero), more all-arounded Nathalie Charest and Sarah Morin-Lanfair will be called upon for the action.

Fillies win opening pair,

Team Cassadaigua won their first two games of the 15th Volleyball World Expo, including an absolutely wild one against the same team that crushed their dreams in the final last time out: Quebec and Shingoryeo. When asked if the intense five set win would be a measure of revenge, captain Gabrielle Nugent simply laughed it off. "They still have the trophy. It's not revenge, but it is a nice win, and I believe that we can be happy with that." Ratings for the match in Cassadaigua were about as high as they were for the opening game in the World Cup of Hockey, but we should not take anything more from that than the appeal of the opening day opponent. In their second game, the Fillies trumped West Barrack and East Obama in four sets, although even that was a closer game then it would have seemed. Head coach Shannon O'Rourke, who is retiring after this Expo, told reporters, "This a long group stage, but we showed a lot of character in these victories, because they were indeed battles. Each opponent made us earn it, in every aspect, and we were up for the challenge!"

Atheara kind of shocked the group quite a bit by winning their first two matches.

Though most would argue the fact that both matches could have gone either way, the reason for shock was because Atheara defeated nations that were ranked above them, back to back and seemingly with some ease as well. Within the first match of this year's edition of the Volleyball World Expo, the matchday one shock was Atheara defeating 20th ranked StrayaRoos as the 26th ranked nation. While the rank gap doesn't seem huge, the gaps within the sets. The Republic won 3 sets to 1 from StrayaRoos, with two of those sets being won by 12 points and the other being won by 5. StrayaRoos won their set by only 7 points and that was in the 2nd one. They failed to pose a challenge within the next ones and this says something about the team's mentality right now.

Lyna Grezna - Keylahaven has somewhat formed this team to be a team that would do their very best and fight their hardest even when they know a victory is impossible. It's this type of team that she has a vision of creating when it comes to Athearan volleyball and she has started on doing just that from the opening day. The second matchday was even more odd as Atheara defeated 15th ranked Natanians and Nosts (Or as we Athearans like to call them, NnN). Two extremely tight sets which Atheara won through hard fought battles, and the third set going wrong for NnN. A national team that can actually get through the grit to win it.

Grezna - Keylahaven has already revealed in a post match interview that she wants and hopes this team can potentially grow and challenge for something in the future. A hope she truly believes in.

1783 VAP ProLiga

The 1783 VAP ProLiga is the third edition of Pemecutan volleyball domestic league after the reorganization of the domestic league in 1781. 30 teams are competing for the title. Kerobokan Westwind was the defending champion. There is a change this edition. The division separator is change from north-south club position relative to the country's map to geographical position. Clubs located in the mainland are grouped into Giri Division. And clubs located in the outer islands are grouped into Nusa Division. A slight compromise is made to make the division spread evenly. As mainland club count at 16, one of the club is placed in Nusa Division. Ubung Sailor is randomly selected.

Instead of traveling the whole country in home and away match, ProLiga use a session system. Each club will have to play 28 matches in the division stage. In the knockout stage or play off, another 2 host cities are selected for each division. This format also slightly change from the previous two editions. Top 8 from each division will be playing against one another before. For example 1st place in Kaja Division will be playing against 8th place in Kelod Division. But this edition, they will be only playing against club in their division. For example, 1st place and 8 the place in Nusa Division will meet each other. So in the final, there will be one delegation from each division. The change is made with the fact that clubs from outer islands are more successful. In the past two editions, 3 out of 4 semifinalists were clubs from outer island. Sanur Tebenan and Tonja Hornbill are the only mainland based club that manage to reach semifinal. While no mainland club have ever reached final in the new ProLiga editions. Carangsari Great Lakes, Abiansemal Squirrel, Munggu Surfer and Kerobokan Westwind are all outer islands clubs who have managed to reached semifinal in the past two editions.

And for the final play off, the capital Pemecutan Puri is selected. Although both finalists are eligible as Pemecutan entry to IVF Volleyball Champions League event. However, starting for this edition, a third place match is also held as Pemecutan gained one extra spot at the competition.

The future of Chromatik volleyball hangs in the balance as Chromatika has started the VWE by sweeping their first two matches against Unranked Teams. With the Chromatik Sporting Council stating that the Chromatik Volleyball League's expansion is contingent on results, Paul Granderson's squad has taken that to heart. There will be tests in the form of HUElavia, Mytanija, and Pemecutan, and with only the top four teams making the playoffs, they must stay the course.

"We would love to expand to sixteen teams," remarked Samuel Jung, "And if we need to win to do that, we'd love to show everyone why we deserve that."

Chromatika used solid passes and great outside hitting to win their first two matches, Jung and Gerard combining for most of the kills.

Games against Pemecutan and Mytanija come up next. This will be a great early litmus test to see where this team can end up.

The Volleyball Vignettes

Hmm. So far, so good for the moment, I guess. I mean, you can’t really argue with the results at the moment. Abanhfleft are sitting pretty on top of Group A here at the 15th Volleyball World Expo, once again being hosted by Quebec and Shingoryeo. Isn’t it both funny and strange that four out of the previous five Expos have been hosted by the same country? It’s almost like nobody else really wants to host this particular competition. I mean, I get it. Volleyball is kind of a niche sport in most parts of the universe if I’m looking at things the right way. Not a lot of countries really invest much into it, if at all. Abanhfleft might just be one of a handful of nations which actually care enough about volleyball to actually put some effort into trying to win the Expo, but at the same time, why aren’t we bidding to host this competition? I mean, our infrastructure looks decent enough. We’ve already hosted handball and arena football before; volleyball shouldn’t be much different from any of that, right? Right?

The Abanhfleft volleyball team (usually nicknamed the Volleybelles because we send our women’s team to the Expo, kind of like how we used to send the women’s team to the World Lacrosse Championships before we decided to go coed in that sport and add some men into the mix) are currently two wins for two in the current Expo, and we’ve managed to clinch victory in only three sets in both games. For those of us who were thinking that dropping Casey Sanders from the team would potentially set us back a couple of years, what do you have to say for yourselves now? It’s not Iyanna Cabungcal’s fault that she’s stepping into the shoes of possibly one of the greatest liberos that have ever played for the blue, orange, and green. Those are some very big shoes for her to fill, but at the moment I would say that she’s filling them well. However, I would dare say that much of the credit has to go to Alessandra Vallejo for taking command of this team and making sure that everyone else was on the same page just as a new team captain should. It’s a thankless job sometimes, being team captain, but when it’s done right, we should take some time to both appreciate it and tell the player that we appreciate their efforts. Because that’s the truth. I do appreciate how Aly Vallejo has taken the reins from Casey and is now ready to lead the Volleybelles to what could potentially be Abanhfleft’s first real shot at the Volleyball World Expo championship.

Abanhfleft’s first game was against West Barack and East Obama. I think we’ve already played them before, but not in volleyball. I think it actually might have been football where we met these guys for the first time. Since they’re new, they don’t have any ranking just yet, and it definitely showed in the way that our Volleybelles outclassed them in straight sets. The Obamans did manage to give our girls a close fight in the second set, but it only lasted for the entirety of two rallies before we taught them their place, and then the result of the third set was pretty much a foregone conclusion. However, what I didn’t expect was that we would get an almost similar result against Huayramarca. Bloody Huayramarca! If you told me that Abanhfleft would be able to defeat Huayramarca in the Volleyball World Expo in straight sets, I would have thought that you were crazy! Need I remind you that this is Huayramarca we’re talking about! Sure, they might not be as crazy for volleyball as we Flefts are, but they’re still quite a formidable sporting nation at the end of the day! And they didn’t get to become the 22nd best volleyball nation in the Expo just because. They actually worked hard for it! And yet our Volleybelles tossed them aside like they were nothing. I don’t even know what the world is coming to anymore.

These two wins should set us up nicely for a deep run into the Expo. At least that’s what everyone who still watches this competition hopes for. Not that I’m saying that people are not tuning in anymore because Abanhfleft has been trying and failing to win this thing for quite a few years now, but I can’t deny that there are some fans who aren’t really that interested in watching the same thing happen time and time again. Here’s to hoping that this time it’s finally gonna be different, and the Volleybelles will finally give the fans a reason not only to come back but to keep supporting the team through thick and thin. This isn’t really how I thought I would close out this post, and yet here we are. It probably doesn’t help that I’m typing this up in the wee hours of the early morning, when the sun hasn’t even shone yet. Hopefully the next one I put up related to the VWE will be a bit more coherent than this. That’s the hope, anyway.

After seven roll call votes, 48 committee hearings, 677 amendments, and 8,146 hours of parliamentary debate, the RADIOHEAD ARE A WILDLY OVERRATED BAND Act will become law this week when it sent to Queen Júlíana for her approval. The passage of the controversial legislation, which began life as the more humbly named Beginning A New Direction Act as the second plank of Prime Minister Kaija Michaelsdóttir’s overhaul of the criminal justice system, represents a personal triumph for the Prime Minister and her staff. Tales of arms being twisted, votes being won through bribery and nepotism, and dark deals being done at the dead of night abounded from the feverish Whip’s office for the last month as the first Prime Minister to be elected with an absolute majority of the vote stared down an unexpected revolt from within her own party that nearly handed her an embarrassing defeat. But problems still abound, so much so that some within her own Cabinet privately believe allowing the bill to be defeated might have saved further battles in the long run.

How did the BAND Act sprawl to this extent?

The RADIOHEAD ARE A WILDLY OVERRATED BAND Act is the largest and most comprehensive policing reform act passed in the modern history of Græntfjall. It has its origins in the Beginning A New Direction initiative announced in the wake of the inquiry into policing methods following the race riots in Laafjörður and violent beating of a suspect by the Háttmark Constabulary, captured on the officers’ body-worn cameras. But the modest ambitions of introducing more accountability within the police force, including civilian review, compulsory sensitivity and de-escalation training, and a greater emphasis on non-lethal use of force has taken years to progress to the stage of an actionable Thing bill. Packed with amendments – much of it, critics charge, “soy-tofu-imitation-pork barrel”* spending to attract the votes of politicians on the fence about the reforms – the final version bill stretches to over 9,000 pages. Its table of contents takes ten minutes to read. Its annexes weigh 12 kg in total. It is, in the words of even its primary sponsor, Kaija loyalist Aron Hallvarðsson, a “behemoth”. A secondary aspect was the rebellion from the right of her own party faced by the Prime Minister. Needing to mollify their criticism of elements including the creation of a Race Relations Review Board, she allowed controversial riders to be attached. It is those that have attracted the renewed round of protests that turned violent this week. A bill born in the blood and smoke of riot appears to have initiated a new day for Queen Mob.

Are the Hulks back?

The Hulk program has come to be regarded as the darkest misstep post-Communist Græntfjall took. (A lot of heinous shit has been done in Montaña Verde and Jabal Akhdar, but Græntfjallers don’t appear overly troubled by any of that.) Newly free Græntfjall opened its doors to immigrants to power the miracle of the early 21st century economy revival, a ‘miracle’ actually born of the hard work of those who came from afar willing to work hard, only to slam those doors shut and imprison, sometimes for years, entire families on cramped and unsanitary holding boats moored in the freezing North Sea. The shuttering of the Hulk program was widely hailed even on the political right. But in the years since successive governments have manifestly to come up with alternative means of processing immigrant arrivals, and the revelations of the Martinsson Commission that two of the Steinaux attack terrorists had passed through Græntfjaller immigration processing unchecked despite having been flagged by the GIB intelligence service have further added to demand for renewed scrutiny of arrivals.

Which is why, when earlier this month a ship carrying Kijanis fleeing ethnic violence in the troubled socialist country’s eastern interior was forced away from the Hofvinger coast by Græntfjaller Navy cutters, eventually laying up at anchor in the Komodo Channel, concerns began to be raised in the Thing that this was a return to the policy of off-shore detention. The Prime Minister insisted that she “categorically would not preside over any return of the Hulks”, but the RADIOHEAD ARE A WILDLY OVERRATED BAND Act does not, its critics charge, specifically prohibit the government from appropriating funds for off-shore detention – and an amendment to do that, packed by the Left-slate, was voted down on the Prime Minister’s orders. “Just because they’re not being held on our hulks doesn’t mean their situation is any better,” says Refugee Action spokesman Lórenz Önundsson. “In fact, in some ways the new normal, of informally detaining people – completely in violation of their right under international law to seek asylum – in their own boats is even more dangerous, as these craft are not rated for their seaworthiness.”

Why are animal cruelty provisions in a policing bill, and why are they so controversial?

Surprisingly, it is some of the amendments that passed by the largest margins that are now facing the most intense heat of criticism. Provisions criminalizing badger baiting, bear baiting, hare coursing, and various other blood sports, all passed as amendments with >90% majorities. But now, they are being criticized as “racist”, a charge that Kaija perhaps unwisely laughed off in an interview with GTV, leading to her private residence being targeted by protestors. “The issue is that most of the activities being criminalized haven’t been practised by Græntfjallers for centuries. Most of the blood sports are instead traditional activities of the Hómin people. This is a blatantly targeted attack on a vulnerable population, and an attempt to criminalize Hómin men and boys.” So says Hafi Sailvar of the Earth’s Children organization that lobbies for Hómin interests.

Less well known than Græntfjall’s other itinerant population, the Kamdyr, the Hómin are a peripatetic people who traditionally travel by caravan – though wooden, horse-drawn carriages have largely given way to motorized RVs. According to their defenders, the Hómin have faced centuries of discrimination and repression from settled Græntfjallers; others charge the Hómin with high levels of criminality, poor treatment of women, and limited engagement with schooling and the conventional economy. “When David Austmannsson raised trespass to a criminal offense, it was seen as targeting the Hómin without his ever saying their name,” explains political journalist Seselía Auðkelsdóttir. “Even Zóphonías Juliusson of all people was accused of anti-Hómin prejudice with his initiative against domestic violence. So Kaija is just experiencing something all Græntfjaller Prime Ministers go through.” Public polling is heavily on the side of the law, with 78% of the public backing the animal cruelty laws, reflecting an increasing concern with environmental matters (see below also). But, says Auðkelsdóttir, it “adds another layer of concern to an already fraught bill”.

Why the urgency in passing such a complex bill right at the start of the new Thing?

The reason Kaija wanted the bill finished with before the end of the Thing session has to do with its provisions on public order. Next year Græntfjall is hoping to host CORN-COB 33 (pushed back from its original planned date this year), a climate change conference involving Rushmori stakeholders. The conference was delayed as concerns were raised about the security situation in Græntfjall, with terror police foiling a plot to bomb the inter-city high-speed-rail line only last week. “Because most of Græntfjall’s homeland security legislation was abolished with the demise of the Communist Union and its sinister Left Hand secret police, the legislative basis for policing powers is really only a couple of decades old and very haphazardly jury-rigged,” legal commentator Dæja Estefansdóttir explains. “The general feeling was, the whole system needs to be completely rewritten to balance police powers to deal with legitimate protest, such as the anticapitalists expected to appear outside the conference, while keeping foreign dignitaries safe.” But, she says, “the legislation is so complex that it remains to be seen whether rushing it into service was really the best move”.

Cold Starts for a Hot Nation

HUElavia takes opening losses to open up VWE 15.

Once again, HUElavia returns to the Volleyball World Expo, looking to get another title and to retain their No. 1 ranking in the Multiverse. In yet another edition, the VWE has returned to Quebec and Shingoryeo, a reliable host and nation that has the sport popularity and infrastructure to organize such a tournament. For HUElavia, this nation is a familiar place, especially with the fact that HUElavia has won their only title in said nation. In the previous edition, HUElavia finished in 4th place, despite a close elimination to Cassadaigua in the Semi-Finals four years ago.

Now, the team returns with a decent mix of veterans and newbies, but the matches have been horrible. The opening game saw Las Amarillas/As Amarelas lose to Permecutan 3-1 (13-25, 13-25, 25-23, 17-25), which was a surprise to the team, especially for their caliber. But the second game was a bitter close loss, as they fell to Mytanija 3-2 (13-25, 25-23, 25-13, 23-25, 15-10) and hit a terrible start to the tournament. As of this moment, HUElavia sits in an abysmal 9th Place (out of 12) with a 0-2 record and 1 Point to their name.

There is some hope for the next two matches though. HUElavia will play against unranked Sannyamathland and Xanneria in their next two games, as they look to assert themselves in the group and put up hopefully a quick sweep and gain points. After all, the Top 4 advance directly to the Championship Knockout Rounds and the expectations for HUElavia is to make a deep run in the tournament.

Here's to hoping the next two games are more enjoyable and memorable for the team and fans alike.
