World Cup of Hockey 47
Squornshelan Remnant States

The Squornshelan Hockey Federation is proud to welcome participating nations to the Forty-Seventh World Cup of Hockey. For the first time in several cycles, the multiverse’s premier hockey tournament returns to the shores of Atlantian Oceania, in the far north of the region. Once again the best in the world will take to the ice to crown a champion. Cities across the Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant States will play host to the preliminary round groups, with each group based in one particular city, and the best 32 of the 56 teams entered advancing to the knockout rounds.

OOC: Host Bid. As specified in the bid, this tournament will have a first round featuring seven group of eight teams each. These groups will play a single round robin at neutral sites after which the top 4 teams of each group plus the 4 best 5th place teams will advance to single elimination knockout rounds. Matchday schedule and tiebreaker details can be found below. Any OOC discussion or questions should be posted here.

 5. Total wins
 6. Overall goal difference

Roster Considerations:
Listed participants may begin posting rosters and RPs following a reserved post for host venue information to be announced. Please do not reserve posts for rosters. All participants are strongly advised to post a roster, and reminded that failure to do so will result in a penalty of half of the rosterless nation's rank points.

In your roster, if desired please include a style modifier between -5 and +5. This will describe your team's style of play with +5 representing all-out attack and -5 representing all out defense. Also please include a section on RP permissions similar to the following template.
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Y/N
Choose Scoring Events: Y/N
Godmod Scoring Events: Y/N
RP Injuries to my Players: Y/N
Godmod Injuries to my Players: Y/N
Assign Penalties to my Players: Y/N
Eject my Players: Y/N
Godmod Other Events: Y/N

Good luck to all!

Postby Squornshelan Remnant States » Mon Dec 05, 2022 3:42 pm

The Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant states is a nation of approximately 230 million inhabitants, which is found in northern Atlantian Oceania. It is a diverse nation with a population comprising five different major native ethnic groups: Squornsh, Brantid, Algolian, Sivolvian, and Han. The Confederacy is comprised of eight member states, four of which will play host to the visiting hockey teams and their fans. Its left-wing government, based at Chalesem in the state of Megabrantis, is composed of a unicameral legislative council, a President as chief executive, and various courts. The climate ranges from warm oceanic in the south, to subarctic in the far north. As it is IC late spring in the Confederacy during this tournament, temperatures will generally be in the 40’s to 60’s Fahrenheit, (5-20 Celsius), though there is the risk of a cold front bringing a late snowstorm and brief below-freezing temperatures, particularly for Groups B and D.

World Cup of Hockey 47 Host Cities:

Group A - Brantisvogan, Megabrantis
With some 8 million inhabitants, Brantisvogan is the largest conurbation in the Confederacy. As with any city its size, you can find nearly everything here. Communities of more ethnicities than many people realize exist, and restaurants to match. Whether you prefer clubs, museums, or sightseeing, Brantisvogan has something to offer you. One landmark in particular is the Viceroy’s Palace from the old days when Brantisvogan was the Imperial capital of West Squornshelous. It has since been converted into a museum and memorial to the stories of the Imperium’s victims, and is a powerfully sobering experience. Regular ferry service across the firth to Vankkavalta, Aboveland is also available for those visitors wishing to check two nations off their list in one trip.

Group B - Han Wavel, Han Dold
The smallest of the cities selected to host a group, Han Wavel is still respectable in size, with just under 200,000 citizens. Han Wavel’s visitors and inhabitants will often remark that it has the amenities of a city and the cultural feel of a small town. The greatest draw for the city is definitely ecotourism, with the spectacular forested ravines of Canyonlands State Park easily accessible by road, provided no late spring snowstorms intervene. One event not to be missed is the Han Wavel Lilac Festival, where one of the multiverse’s largest collections of lilac varieties all come into bloom in the course of one week.

Group C - Vogsphere, Isle of Squornshelous
The former capital of the fallen Imperium of Squornshelous, Vogsphere is a gleaming metropolis of glass and neon, perched atop a foundation of crumbling concrete. Visitors interested in history can view and tour the monumental, concrete brutalist edifices of the old Imperial Government Center, and tour the sites of the battles of the final revolt against the last Emperor, which was fought in the streets of Vogsphere less than a decade ago. For those more interested in the present, Vogsphere abounds with bars, clubs, VR lounges, and other diversions for the avid pleasure seeker.

Group D - Han Dold, Han Dold
Han Dold City is the original birthplace of Squornshelan hockey, and the gateway to the north of the country. Despite being quite a bit smaller than the massive cities further south and east, Han Dold City is no stranger to welcoming international sport. It played host to several events the AOlympic Winter Festival two cycles ago. Han Dold is quite close to Han Wavel, and connected by bus and train routes. It also enjoys easy access to the canyonlands, and nearby ski resorts will have alpine slides and hiking routes open now that the snows have mostly melted. The city also has a reputation as a center for the visual arts, particularly photography, and the downtown districts numerous galleries will provide something to do on off days. Further information about Han Dold from when it hosted the AOlympics.

Group E - Arkintoofle, Megabrantis
Arkintoofle is the busiest port in the mainland SRS, with a natural deepwater harbor located in the far east of the state of Megabrantis. Like many of the large Brantid cities, Arkintoofle is fairly cosmopolitan, and relatively affluent due to the income the thriving port brings in. If Arkintoofle were a person, it would be a gruff construction worker with a heart of gold. Arkintooflers have a reputation as rude and unfriendly, and in a sports context occasionally vicious. It’s definitely a bit overblown though, and visitors who mind their manners and have the patience to get to know their hosts will find that there are few people more genuine and willing to share their city with newcomers.

Group F - Lutenblag, Molvania
Lutenblag is the state capital of the Confederacy’s easternmost state, Molvania. An amalgamation of different architectural styles and eras reflects the spastic nature of Lutenblag’s development. In the days when Molvania was an independent nation, Lutenblag was its capital, and the testing ground for a long series of inadvisably zealous governments with definitely foolproof ideas about how the city should be redeveloped. The Confederate era has brought a more sensible, stable style of government. Visitors are advised to take in sightseeing tours, as well as local cuisine which, while intimidating to the uninitiated is generally delicious. And be sure to try to traditional local favorite, zeerstum, a variety of fermented garlic schnapps that is only half as bizarre tasting as it sounds.

Group G - Santraginus, Isle of Squornshelous
Santraginus is a major port and third largest city on the Isle of Squornshelous, situated across the straits from Arkintoofle, and in some ways is a twin to that city. Some have joked that Santraginus is Arkintoofle reflected in a cracked mirror. Visitors are generally advised to stick to the Downtown and East End districts as the west side of town, particularly Dockside and Newport can get a little dicey at times. Still, for the adventurous tourist who can accept the risk of and involuntary parting with their wallet, there is no better place to experience raw, unfiltered Squornshelan street culture. Get a piercing or tattoo, or even a stylish new prosthetic upgrade, and enjoy local beer at a nameless dive bar. You never know where you’ll wake up the next morning.

Goalies

G Wugeld Zudalu (23) - West Coast Blizzards
G Kristo Laaksoog (25) - Straudum Ice
G Ausugo Aurtinia (22) - South Aevanna Storm

Janszoon is the face of this generation now. Zudalu isn't far behind him even though the two vary in style a little bit. Janszoon is more engaged with the team, good and bad, while Zudalu tends to eke out a higher save percentage - his tactical shortcomings mean that he faces more shots, though. Laaksoog and Aurtinia are fairly similar but clearly a step behind the other two.

Substitute
LD Aodofe Aoalen (21) - South Aevanna Storm
LD Otaulune (f) Monokudhen (20) - Lamau-Dartha Hunters
RD Aolare Aemo (20) - Egevea Islanders
RD Gerhild (f) Casselaer (20) - Straudum Ice

Aenec and Winterhaag got their experience on different pairs but have emerged as the starting pair for the future. Both are immensely talented and very mature for their age: both lead the defence at their clubs. Akinaga and Ehoni balance each other out in experience (Akinaga the obvious junior there) but also in aggressiveness (Ehoni going for risky interceptions and poke checks). Nammagun and Aiaros are a bruising pair that won't let many slip by them. The substitutes are all younger options and next in line should Ehoni and Aiaros retire. What's immediately obvious is that ice hockey isn't an exclusively Aerellen sport anymore: sure, there's Aoalen and Aemo - but there's a lack of northeasterners (Winterhaag and Casselaer the only ones here) in favour of a West Strand Ridinger (Nammagun) which isn't super surprising given the West Coast Blizzards having had a long term stable operation, but there's Akinaga from Yoshima - they don't even have a team - and Monokudhen from the Capitals.

Forwards
Line 1 (Scoring line)
LW Kjell IJsberg (31) - Noordrug Bi-state
C Mathias Loenaren (23) - Lamau-Dartha Hunters
RW Woutre Heerekornuit (25) - Straudum Ice

Line 2 (Balanced line)
LW Bren Groenstege (31) - Serevne Northerners
C Birtle Montrose (19) - Aevanna Scouts
RW Tiele Loenaren (21) - Noordrug Bi-state

Line 3 (Checking line)
LW Aone Aenec (26) - Aevanna Plains Wanderers
C Aelocu Aurtinia (25) - Serevne Northerners
RW Aerine Aorifi (31) - South Aevanna Storm

Line 4 (Defensive line)
LW Jacob IJzerkroon (21) - Lamau-Dartha Hunters
C Aorinne Aelloma (25) - Aevanna Plains Wanderers
RW Arinia Aolopei (25) - Serevne Northerners

Substitute
LW Robert Dartett (21) - Straudum Ice
LW Augane Evos (23) - South Aevanna Storm
C Pieter Zwanenzanger (19) - Noordrug Bi-state
RW Aerca Aedeise (23) - Egevea Islanders

Three creative stars on line 1, icons of sensibility on line 2, three angry bois on line 3, and a mixed bag on line 4. The first three lines will get noticeably more time on the ice than line 4 - and it wouldn't be weird to have the substitutes mixed in there. The Loenaren brothers are back but still not on the same line - Mathias was always going to be a big name but if Tiele would break through remained to be seen. He's still just 21 but looks a long term addition to the national team. IJsberg is the legend, Heerekornuit is no longer up and coming - he has arrived as one of the best players in the Ko-orenite league. On line 2, Montrose is an unorthodox choice: nobody can deny he's good, but he's also not from Aerellen or the north coast so he's automatically viewed with suspicion, let alone that he is the starting centre on the biggest team in the league, the Aevanna Scouts. Line 2 might look very different as time goes on, with Montrose and Tiele Loenaren maybe a little worse than expected. Aenec-Aurtinia-Aorifi is a big and tough line, with Aenec having a better pass and Aurtinia being better technically than most would give them credit for. Aorifi is here to fight, as that's illegal in the Ko-orenite league. IJzerkroon is another talented winger, while Aelloma and Aolopei have a lot to prove. Dartett, like Montrose, is undeniably good but not from the 'heartland'. Evos and Aedeise have their careers ahead of them, and Zwanenzanger probably fits in the Loenaren conversation as the unofficial third brother.

Powerplay
Aenec-Aiaros-IJzerkroon-Loenaren-Loenaren

Penalty Kill
Nammagun-Aiaros-Aenec-Aurtinia-Aorifi (4 out of 5)

The Ko-orenite league cracked down on fighting to speed games up. Don't be surprised if the Dragonflies don't respond to a call to arms. Ice hockey is a regional (but not necessarily small) sport in Ko-oren, limited to frigid Aerellen, the temperate (but cold) northeast, and parts of the unwelcoming west coast. Venues are limited, and Aerellen's largest venue hosts multiple games per day while the season is on, so speeding up games and keeping them plannable is key. Languages used by the team are Dutch and Aerellen (Ko-orenite). Aerellen names are easily recognisable, they start with vowels, featuring many Au, Ao, Ai, Ae combinations at the start of each word. Tarrashall is also a culture that you'll run into, famous players from there include Hallady Buck and Yaller Nyan, and they often play for the West Coast Blizzards.

The league has made the move from amateurism/semi-professionalism to fully professional over the last year. To get there, some teams were moved, some merged, others folded while new teams (in different locations) sprang up to fill the void. This has left part of the fanbase bitter and resentful: their team might have moved, a 80+ year old rivalry might have disappeared, etc. The rest of the fanbase has been very welcoming: more of Ko-oren can enjoy the fastest team sport in the multiverse. Still, the league didn't exactly expand beyond its usual borders (Aerellen, the northeast, and the north coast). There's also the matter of Banija's team in Schemerdrecht: while opening up the city to ice hockey, it has taken away expansion opportunities.

Name: KUANG Deniigi
AGE: WCOH+2
Nationality: Kajinazumi, Shaojin Province, Fire Nation
College: Republic City State University (Class of 2012.2)
Degree: BS, Sports Kinesiology
AHL History:
Makapu Flames (Season 2012)
Kyrimorut Kamikade (Season 2013 – Season 2021)

World Cup History
Reserve - WC 17 (2012.3) – WC 21 (2014.1) | 9 caps | 3 G, 5 A
Start – WC 23 (2014.1) – WC 43 (2021.2) | 141 caps | 78 G, 115 A

Being born in the Fire Nation doesn’t exactly exude a future storied career in a sport played on ice. Yet in the small village of Kajinazumi, a household name would be born in the Kuang family; in their middle child Deniigi. Playing youth hockey all the way through the system before getting a full-ride scholarship to Republic City State University, where under one of the best hockey programs in the Republics Kuang would find himself making the Reserve Roster for the Gyatso-kai National Ice Hockey team at the age of 19 for the Seventeenth Edition of the World Cup of Hockey. He would make nine appearances on the reserves, often times subbing in for an aging Ito Pakku. His transition to starter after the retirement of Ito, as well as his continued development, led to an integral part in the first World Cup of Hockey victory for the Ice Bisons.

Following his retirement, Kuang has accepted a position at his alma mater, as an assistant coach for the RCSU men’s team. He has been entertaining coaching positions for a few AHL and RHL teams, and even an Arendallic team. His defensive style of coaching, though, might be just the perfect fit for the Dragonflies of Ko-oren, who have always been a far more defensively minded team than most others on the multi-verse stage.

Nova Anglicana World Cup of Hockey 47 Roster

Head Coach: Sherm Willis, DC Oilers
Style Modifier: +1.5
Captain: Darren Gordon
Assistant Captains: Sean Harper, Marc Broussard

1st Line
RW Ricky McCoy - hard worker who is harnessing raw talent, athletic build
C Sean Harper - steady, firm, even-keeled, leader, but his on-ice abilities in passing and shooting are excellent too
LW Andre Messier - sharp-tongued Acadien chirps at his opponents, but silences them with his wicked shot and skating abilities

2nd Line
RW David Manning - Capable of a four-point performance one night and looking lost the next, but finding his groove
C Alistair McDaniel - McDaniel is an artist with the puck on his stick, able to find both the net and his teammates, but he can get pushed around a little
LW Francois Coderre - Coderre is a shooting machine, shooting early and often, but the good thing is, it often goes in the net and he varies his shots well

3rd Line
RW Cedric Caldwell - a sniper, incredibly fast with a good body
C Peter Frazier - passes well, speedy with an eye for finding holes in the defense
LW Aaron Shelton - quick with his legs and his shot

4th Line
RW Garrett Brock - hustles, plays good defense, not afraid to lay a lick, there to wear people out
C Jean-Marc Belanger - passes well, moves well, not a scorer, but has good intangibles
LW Alain Marchand - small and speedy, tough to keep up with, big part of this hustle line, decent shooter

Pair 1
Marc Broussard - Broussard is an incredible talent, a two-way player who is at home on both ends of the ice, has become more of a team player
Matt Morrison - Morrison is tall and lanky, excellent at harassing opponents without a lot of physical contact, better than average shot

Pair 2
Stephen Barnett - Barnett is a big body, but not as slow as he looks, has a heavy shot, not afraid to defend his teammates, has become a leader
Patrick Drake - not a big guy, but pretty quick, heads up player with a positive disposition and excellent stick checking abilities

Pair 3
Daniel Ford - Ford is a hulking bruiser who can take your head off with a shot or with a check, but not particularly fast or skilled
Chris Kelley - Kelley is also a physical specimen, will fight if necessary, blocks plenty of shots

Goaltenders
Darren Gordon - technically and tactically sound but athleticism isn't top-tier
Joey Perry - a big body, blocks the net well, but can be beaten by skilled players

DARKMANIA

Darkmania made their debut at the 46th World Cup as 1/4 of the Novapax in the jointly hosted Mercedini - Novapax WC but was knocked out of the tournament in the group stage. However, given the surprising match results and the holdouts from the national team they gave before defeat, it was ultimately decided to give them another chance and thus are back on the ice rink.

Not much has changed with the team other than that some players have had their birthdays, and that Krÿster Kälami has announced that this is his last tournament as he want to focus on the league-games as well as spend more time with his family.

HURON LEAGUE
Rosters and Information
Image

Huron League is making their return in the WCoH, with a similar roster to the one used in the WCoH 45 and in the 16th Winter Olympics in Liventia that won silver in the men's competition. The Huronian delegation to the 47th WCoH is made up of EHHL stars, as well as multiple up and coming highly touted young prospects. Unfortunately, due to the Western Huron Hockey League being in it's final season before the merger with the Eastern Huron Hockey League, players from the WHHL were not allowed to join the WCoH delegation. New additions to the roster include Theo Eaton, a sure fire top HHL draft pick, and incredible goaltender Louis Harvard, who will likely duke it out with Eaton for number one pick in the HHL draft two seasons out. Eaton was granted exceptional status to play with the Kisa Buccaneers, a major junior team in the HJHL. He has lit up the league with 33 goals and 28 assists in 40 games, leading the league and flummoxing goaltenders with his crafty dekes and pinpoint-accuracy shot. All of Huron League’s hockey fans are watching to see how he stacks up to the worlds best players here in the WCoH 47. Louis Harvard, son of famed EHHLer Steven Harvard, is pretty much a wall with his major junior team, the Picham Kings, posting a 1.20 GAA and .973 save percentage. Harvard is the third goalie in rotation, although is B2 behind Adrian Canilo, star EHHL goalie.

MADRINPOOR NATIONAL TEAM
WCoH XLVII

HOCKEY HAS A weird history in Madrinpoor — despite being an incredibly dense city state on the ocean, with little room for large stadiums or club leagues, the sport has taken off since the 1970s, especially among poorer, urban youth. Madrinpoor is a deepwater port along a warm water current, built of over 1,100 original islands and reclaimed land. The city is built almost vertically, in a complicated three-dimensional blueprint of pedestrian overpasses, ladders, back alley staircases, and suspended bridges that have proved totally impossible to transcribe on a 2-D map and does not lend itself well to cars. While wealthier, newer areas have roads and train tracks, the oldest and densest parts of the city — mostly found in Madrinpoor's southeastern section — are connected by large canals, which facilitate much of the mass transport in those areas.

The canals in the worst parts of the city are often poorly maintained, grimy, and narrow — which means they freeze thickly over for three to four months in the winter, reconfiguring the realities of transportation and allowing a very unique hockey environment to thrive, not unlike that of basketball in the hoods or football in the favelas. Madrinpoor "canal hockey", or "遊び事溝渠", is raucous, violent, and chaotic — teams range from six skaters to nine to even twelve on a team, but well organized "informal" canal hockey games are played with the same rules as regulation ice hockey — if significantly more violent. Hockey players cultivate dangerous, thuggish personas — many sport tattoos, earings, Bōsōzoku jackets, silver chains, and a multitude of metal rings said to make their checks and blows "more deadly" (though rarely is hockey played while wearing metal rings in Madrinpoor — that's incredibly unsafe and painful to the wearer). Now, Madrinpoor's National Ministry of Sport and Culture has spent the last six months putting together a team for its inaugural debut on the World Cup of Hockey stage. Coached by toothless veteran of professional hockey from Lacfroid, Luc Beauséjour.

ROSTER
FIRST LINE:
C: #8, KANADA Aoi (Captain)
LW: #41, SEO Yasuhiro
RW: #91, YUNO Rishi

The starting line. Led by Kanada Aoi, a focused and disciplined center who sees his main job as coordinating attacks for the wings and creating opportunities for them to score, rather than taking the puck to the goal — his conservative style stands at contrast to his wings. Seo Yasuhiro is speedy with fast reflexes, an excellent playmaker but not especially tough. He is recovering from a muscle sprain in the practice season. His partner on the right, Yuno Rishi, is the opposite. Violent and aggressive, Mr. Yuno tries to fight his way through defenders instead of using complex tactics like Mr. Kanada; he is the most likely to end up in the penalty box.

SECOND LINE:
C: #11, YANAGI Kazuhiko
LW: #83, HANDA Hayai (Captain)
RW: #74, Oleg SERGEYEV

Led by Handa Hayai, a first line-quality left wing who may often be substituted for Mr. Seo, the second line is more cautious and relies on capable two-way skaters that can drop back into defense if necessary. Yanagi Kazuhiko, the center, is the youngest player on the team — he is also one of the best skaters, who relies on dekes and speed rather than his limited physical strength. Oleg Sergeyev was smuggled illegally to Madrinpoor by his parents as a child — he was granted a passport, finally, in order to travel for this tournament. Sergeyev was a top defender before being moved to the right wing, and his purpose is to physically stop attacks. Handa Hayai is a veteran like Mr. Kanada, one of the very few on this team to have played hockey on a high level in the past. He and Kanada are a threatening duo that bounce off each other and can pass around defenders; in this line, Mr. Handa works a similar role to Mr. Kanada's in the first line, coordinating attacks and defensive drop-backs. It is likely that Mr. Handa and a second-tier offensive player could be brought in for Mr. Seo and Mr. Yuno in a closely-contested, dragging match.

THIRD LINE:
C: #10, Evgeny RYOTA (Captain)
LW: #65, IP Yoo-Bon
RW: #15, MAKI Hotaka

This line is a checking line, which may be brought in against a team that outmatches Madrinpoor in the early minutes to wear down their attackers and limit their scoring abilities. The third line is very physical and defensive, with effectively no offensively-oriented players — they cannot sustain or win a match, but they have their purpose. Evgeny Ryota is half-Madri, and had never visited the country before being asked to play in the national team; he is also a top-level wrestler and aspiring judoka. He leads a side with Ip Yoo-Bon, drafted for the team upon his parole from a Madri prison, and Maki Hotaka, the second-youngest player after Mr. Yanagi, 6'7 and nicknamed "変わり種", or "the freak". According to medical experts, though he is 23, he has not finished growing.

FOURTH LINE:
C: #77, SHIGOMOTO Minoru
LW: #9, SHIMADA Tadashi (Captain)
RW: #32, SAZAMA Shoji

THe fourth line is made up of skilled skaters and scrappy, aggressive attackers. They play for a brief period as an "energy line", to boost the morale of other players and give them a chance to rest. Shigomoto Minoru is an up-and-coming young player who is known as a "pest" — he taunts or trash-talks the opposing team, makes vulgar gestures from the penalty box, and performs illegal moves when the referees aren't watching, like hooking. Shimada Tadashi, the captain, is an archetypical "enforcer" — an underground boxer who only learned to skate only after being selected to go to the WCoH. He will probably get frequently into fights. The right wing, Sazama Shoji, is a talented skater who will be substituted for higher-line players.

DEFENSIVE PAIRS
FIRST LINE:
LD: #9, MASATO Kane
RD: #50, SUGIYAMA Shigeru

The starting defensive line, which will probably play a good majority of matches.

SECOND LINE:
LD: #28, OKADA Koichi
RD: #44, IMADA Mari

Okada Koichi is more of an offensive player, whereas Mr. Imada often stays in the back a solid pair to relieve the first line.

THIRD LINE:
LD: #3, KANO Kin
RD: #16, KINOSHITA Mamoru

The third line is for a case in which Madrinpoor is outmatched — the third line is conservative, stick close to the goal, and their purpose is to shut down any scoring opportunities by any means necessary, instead of trying to build out of the back.

GK: SOGA Hideo (Starting)
GK: KONISHA Yuki

Kelssek has a physical and aggressive style of play, with a tendency to forecheck aggressively. Its hockey culture also puts inordinate emphasis on board play; losing board battles implies shame, weakness, cowardice, hormonal inadequacies, etc. There is also a cultural divide between whether players should adopt complex offensive tactics or dump-and-chase. Duncan prefers the former, but older players especially are more comfortable with the latter.

Short History: Île de Richelieu (formerly known as Jan Mayen Island) was discovered by Dutch explorers early in the 17th century and served as a whaling base until it was abandonned. France claimed the island in the 19th century and renamed it Île de Richelieu (Richelieu Island) but the island's jurisdiction was finally given to Norway. The French speaking majority, led by the clergy, declared the independence of Île de Richelieu in 1948.

Ice hockey is the most popular sport in Elejamie, followed by football/soccer (both are acceptable in Elejamie) and rugby [union], In fact, the men's national team - nicknamed the Ice-a-phants as of 2021 - are one of the best teams in the multiverse, winning four times (29th, 31st, 35th and 43rd), being runners-up in the finals three times (30th, 32nd and 44th) and getting three bronze medal games (28th, 37th and 46th); although the B-team won a gold medal in the men's ice hockey at the 12th Winter Olympics, they're considered a different team and as a result their achievement is not counted alongside the three WCoH wins. While they're still looking for a new permanent head coach, with the legendary Michael Madgwick leading them to a third place at the last one and WCoH-winning and subsequent runner-up Alex Sorenson coming back to take the reins on another temporary contract, they're confident that they'll be able to find someone by the 48th tournament.

Home to the Davenport Dockers - the most successful team in the ENIHL (Elejamian National Ice Hockey League) - and the national team. Built in 1992 to replace Dockside Stadium, which was eventually demolished in 1995, Davenport Stadium is the largest ice hockey arena in Elejamie, with a capacity of 18,500. The stadium was originally known as the Davenport Stadium but it also spent a brief spell in the early 2000s as the Rapid Beer Co. Stadium. Eventually, it was renamed the Declan Madgwick Memorial Stadium just in time for the start of the 2015/16 season, in honour of famed politician and diplomat Declan Madgwick (1927-2015).

For the record: In the northwest of Elejamie, the term "stadium" is used for any building which hosts a professional sports team even if they don't play on a pitch.

Built in 1989, the HomeFiller Arena is also known as the Coventry Arena, especially in situations where HomeFiller isn't sponsoring the event in question. With a total capacity of 17,000, it is also home to the Coventry Puffins; the backup stadium for the national ice hockey and basketball teams; home to the junior and U-18 ice hockey teams; and home to the Coventry Nets basketball team. It entered a sponsorship deal with furniture store HomeFiller in 2013, which is due to expire at the end of the season and isn't expected to be renewed.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Yes
Choose Scoring Events: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes (but nothing too serious; one person at a time and they can't be out for anything longer than two games. Killing is definitely out)
Godmod Injuries to my Players: Yes (see above)
Assign Penalties to my Players: Yes (but try not to make my players seem dirty, especially since Cerin Meloten and Harrison Blackburn are two of the nicest players on and off the ice and Stacy Saunders is more interested in getting points rather than getting himself into trouble)
Eject my Players: Yes (one ejection per match with a one game suspension and they have to serve their suspension before another player can be ejected)
Godmod Other Events: Depends on what it is (fighting I'm OK with and gave a list of people likely to fight in the "Everything Else" spoiler) but I'd recommend TGing me if you've got any other ideas

 • "Keh-reen Mah-loh-tahn"; "Ah-lah-YEHM Mahn ees-hoh-kee teem".
 • Stacy Saunders is still a guy, if anyone's wondering. So, if you do mention him in your RP, make sure you say "he", "him" and "his" instead of "she" and "her".
 • In the event that any of my players interest you and you want to sign them, please tell me which one you want, which club wants them and all the details.
 • Please get back to me with RP info by 8pm BST. Otherwise, I'll go ahead and put my own stuff in.
 • My main enforcers are Lupe, Carlos Sierra, Ethan Swinburne, Mike Keller and Bill Judge (who was Elejamie's main enforcer during WJHC8). The only players that don't fight are Stacy Saunders, Cerin Meloten and Harrison Blackburn. Everyone else can fight, just not as often as those first guys I've mentioned.
 • Elejamie will wear their alt kit on MD1 and either the quarter-final or the semi-final if they're not the home side for the QF.
 • Although "Carpio" appears on his jersey, Kiko Carpio is usually on a full name basis when he's being commentated on. I won't complain if you just call him "Carpio", though.
 • Danilo and Felipe Barajas are twin brothers, with Danilo being the oldest by about five minutes.

ATHEARAN NATIONAL TEAM - World Cup of Hockey XLVII

Atheara rumbles onto the ice once again in the 47th edition of the WCoH.

Atheara makes another cycle of ice hockey as The Republic officially decides to participate in the 47th edition of The World Cup of Hockey. Within the previous cycle, Atheara failed to qualify to the knockout rounds after losing out in 3rd place to Graintfjall and Banija, which to be fair, would have been a massive hurdle that the team couldn't accomplish at the time. But this time, it might be different. The team certainly has grown ever since the first time they've been assembled for WCoH 46, and we are all excited to see how far they will go this time around. Will they go further than last time, or will they have to settle for the same results? It's time for us to find out as we unveil our (Mostly similar) roster for the 47th World Cup of Hockey!

HURON LEAGUE NEWSWIRE

Image

Huronian team captain Arlo Archambault’s training regimen never gets easier. After 14 years being constantly scrutinized at every step of his on and off-ice hockey career, he knows he has to stay as strong as ever to continue competing in the new Huronian Hockey League, and against the worlds best at the WCoH 47. “Just because I’m leaving my prime doesn’t mean I don’t have to work as hard. It means I have to work harder. To stay competitive and continue playing at the level I do, against the best of the best from across the world and against the best of all of Huron League next year, it’s necessary for me to work harder than ever at practice and on my own time.” Archambault, who plays for the Krisposaa Reindeer of the EHHL, has had 10 all star seasons in his 11 years in the EHHL, and 9 consecutive. In the EHHL’s short season, Archambault achieved 59 points and 28 goals in just 40 games in the final season of the league before the merger with the WHHL. “I’m proud of my play in the E, but I know I’m going to have to get my stamina up to continue to put up points at that pace for a full 82 game season in the HHL. It’s all gonna be an uphill battle from here, so I should work as hard as I can now to alleviate a little pressure when I’m older.” According to his coach for Krisposaa (who is also coaching for the Huronian delegation at the WCoH), their team’s training regime requires 15 hours a week of personal training, whether that’s on-ice or off-ice conditioning. She says that Archambault easily puts in 25, showcasing his immense dedication to his field. “I’m really proud of the person he is and excited for the person he will be, as a workhorse player and just as a human. He’s a really nice guy, and just rubs off on our younger players, which will be good for Jackson Brite and Theo Eaton to develop some under his mentorship in team practices.” Expect Archambault to put up piles of points in this WCoH, helped by his excellent sniper line mates Callum Melli and the young Arlen Kestrel. More on them in upcoming issues.

The merger between the Eastern Huron Hockey League and the Western equivalent has been much debated and awaited by national and international hockey fans. The two competing leagues drove down their broadcasting costs to earn better deals with prominent Huronian broadcasters which noticeably hurt the finances of both leagues. Fans, owners and execs alike noticed this years ago and since then, the road to a deal has been underway. With revenues declining each year even with record viewership and attendance, time was running out to save both leagues. After 8 tumultuous years of deliberations and discussions for the directors and owners of both leagues, a decision was made. The leagues would completely merge, keep current rosters, play an 82 game season and have a strict salary cap of $90 million, which would be adjusted for inflation yearly. Stay tuned for news and background on the merger in upcoming articles.

Canadian Dominion comes back to the WCoH with a vengeance and a hope for advancement to at least the round of 16 and just to make a deep run into the playoff stage in this championship. After a humiliating failure in a shoot-out against Atheara in the World Juniors and then the loss against Gyatso-Kai in a shoot-out.

CDSN provides a look at the Canadian Dominion Roster

The Canadian Dominion gander squad would look different, with older men retiring and younger guys slipping into the roster as Canadian Dominion prepares for a deep championship run. Some notable names coming back into the CD roster would be Nolan Dawson and Jakob Hawley, two stars on the CD roster returning for a third straight WCoH. Some newer faces on the senior team would be an up-and-coming defenseman, Bastien Cohen. He got drafted and played for the Whitetuchil Sawbucks in the domestic scene. The starting goalie for this year’s WCoH would be Lucas Bell, who now plays for Goose Bay Beavers and who also started for the Junior Goslings. Another player would be Xavier Ostell, who played for the Goslings before he turned 20. He has dedicated most of his life to the sport playing for the Moose Stersqui GrayJackets on the third line for the Gander squad. The gander squad would be well-balanced, and the coaching staff had already released the lines for the team. Still, the power play and penalty kill have yet to be released, or as inside sources say, “Other lines haven’t been finished due to wanting full confidence in the lines they set out.”

Canadian Dominion ranking and pot revealed and many try to predict a group.(Done before the group draw)

The gander squad has shown good grit and went from rank 43rd up to 16th, managing to slip ahead of some major hockey nations and with this small sense of pride for the fans of CD hockey. With some people predicting a group of death but most sports analysts building a group from scratch and it will be shown down below:

Elejamie: A team who has had many deep runs in the WCoH and with the ability to win these tournaments.

Banija: A team that can be seen in the Ro32 and above but with the state of their hockey team and how it looks, I can’t see them getting past the round of 16.

Canadian Dominion: You know ‘em, you love ‘em!

Squornshelan R.S: The lovely hosts of this competition! Their hockey program has started back up on the domestic scene. I could see them making a deep run in this World Cup of Hockey.

Evinea: Well before we appeared on the AO planet, we played the Evinea in a small Ice Hockey championship in The South Pacific and we could see them doing… ok?

Ile de Richelieu: A solid team, we have seen their junior team thrive in WJHC 19, but will they be able to do the same here?

Texas Jaguarundi: Um, we don’t have too much insight on this team but, from what we do know about them… they are new and they haven’t fully shown their roster.

The Greater Onvares: We would say the same about these folks and Texas Jaguarundi so yeah.. Oh! Their roster was just posted and it seems as if they are a more defensive team.

The groups revealed and CD seems to be in a tougher group than last thought.

Abanhfleft: A great team ranked 29th, they could have a strong start and a great chance to qualify for the round of 32 and make a fairly deep run in the competition.

Texas Jaguarundi: We will keep the same opinion of them, that they are new, and the team is releasing only part of the roster.

Gyatso-kai: Ohhh boy Gyatso-kai we have a lot of things to say. This team quickly ended the WCoH 46 run. They are a fantastic team, and we could see them leisurely topping the group. All of us at CDSN do hope they make a good run in the play-offs but we will try and beat them at any turn.

Golyna: This team having a more offensive play style, we don’t think they will do well on their first run. They could qualify but they might be out at the Ro32.

Trolleborg: The team that fell in the Ro16 due to one goal… Their team is great on the defensive side, generating chances when they can and they have been known to go far in the championships.

The Greater Onvares: Great defense but we haven’t seen them play so we can’t nit-pick their play style! We will update when we can though, but they seem new and look like they could cause some upsets!

Juvencus: The 53rd ranked team and tied for 53rd with 9 other teams, other than that Juvencus ended 1 - 0 - 3.. Coming up last in the group B in WCoH47, Although they could manage an upset.

In the most extreme reaches of a sea too remote for most to have ever felt it necessary to navigate it, there lies a solitary island hidden away from the world by a cloak of impossibly thick mist. Those enfolded in it say the shroud is immortal: they say that it has not subsided or even faltered in a thousand years; that it has concealed the Rock within it like a filthy secret from time immemorial. Coterminous with this island is the Commonwealth of Eden and Cambersey, a hermit nation populated by plucky isolationists who once waged a war of independence so unspeakably bloody that upon finally achieving independence, the nation's leaders declared that the island was to undergo exactly one hundred years of solitude. All travel in and out of the island was barred, all contact with the outside world ceased, and the fledgling nation altogether exiled itself from the world stage to allow itself the time and space necessary to grieve, reflect, and rebuild.

It has now been exactly one hundred years to the day since Eden and Cambersey's Century of Silence began.

The Bloody Mist Clears
Eden and Cambersey to compete in World Cup of Hockey in first appearance at an international sporting event since war of independence
Natalie Bowen (@NHBowenUP)
Sports | Pompey, Eden and Cambersey
ImageSHARE THIS: Image Image Image Image

POMPEY, CAMBERSEY — Eden and Cambersey's delegation to the World Cup of Hockey departed Pompey Tuesday morning, leaving one rump state behind for another as they set off for the Squornshelan Remnant States to contest the first international sports tournament in Edenocambrian history. The Mist Knights are among the very first Edenocambrians to leave the Rock's shores in a century following the implosion of the REDACTED Union and the wars that followed.

Little is expected of the Edenocambrian side, who have not once played a foreign team for the entirety of its hundred-year existence: indeed, their brand of hockey evolved completely free of any influence from the rest of the hockey world on account of the CEC's closed-nation policy. A number of obvious disadvantages arise as a consequence: the Mist Knights will be oblivious to every tactical innovation in the sport to have come about in the last hundred years, while their opponents will be employing them with a level of fluency attained by decades of practice. Conversely, there are some who argue that the vice versa is also true, that the Mist Knights are advantaged to a certain extent by the very fact that they play 'Rock-Hockey': as a consequence of having been forced to play hockey in a vacuum for one hundred years, the Mist Knights have developed a brand of the game so foreign and so bizarre to anyone not from Eden and Cambersey that they may well be able to use the element of surprise to spring a surprise or two on their adversaries.

That being said, it must be recognized that the Mist Knights are very much minnows in a group of much bigger fish. You would most likely need only the fingers on one hand to count the players who could conceivably keep up with the level of play expected of E&C's more seasoned groupmates, and all of them would probably be on the top two offensive lines. Freshly 20, top-line center Tristan Halley is the poster boy for the future of Edenocambrian hockey, but it will realistically be his linemates, the mercurial Francis Brekespear and archetypal power forward Adrian Rosewarne, who will be responsible for the majority of Eden and Cambersey's offensive output. The Begbie twins, who each don an A on their jerseys, could also prove to be difference-makers on account of their exceptional coordination and passing ability, but especially because of their unpredictability: if ever there were two players who embodied the sheer esotericism of Rock-Hockey, it was them.

The Mist Knights will contest their first ever international game against Evinea on Monday, before then facing Madrinpoor, Banija, Independent Athletes of Quebec, New Folgore, and finally, the tournament hosts, the Squornshelan Remnant States. All of Eden and Cambersey's games will be played at the Synesoft Center, located in the port city of Arkintoofle.
