[DRAFT] On Badge Hunters

Postby Collection Session » Wed Dec 07, 2022 1:33 am

This may be in response to a certain someone, but I'm not gonna namedrop anyone. Because that's just rude!

Oh, and this is a declaration, but that's probably noticeable to begin with.

First Draft.
This is also a horrible writing, because I'm highly inexperienced, but that makes the most fun, people get to tear me apart across the world! Wait, where was I? Oh, right.

Believing that Badge Hunters are people who only seek the badges handed out by the Security Council and General Council on their profile.

Understanding that not everyone is always there just for the badges, often writing in the general/security to make the world a better place one submission at a time. However, Hunters are always lurking.

Knowing that some regions, some minding their business, may be stuffed into the spotlight that can negatively affect them, and if they're not ready to defend themselves from this attention, it can lead to undesirable and unwanted actions on their region if they don't have the right resources.

Hoping that these hunters can be addressed by the council, and work together to prevent these people from trying to campaign their way into undesirable actions from the region-mates.

Noting that while the help of natives can sometimes destroy most unwanted attention in their tracks, they may not always be there to help stop the hunters in their track, forcing people to unnecessary try and stop the hunters from pushing unnecessary and potentially harmful stuff.

HEREBY declares its stance against Badge Hunters.

This is gonna need, a lot of work, and honestly I doubt this will even go anywhere. Ok, I'm rambling too much nowadays. Let's just say I want to either trim the edges, fix this poor fellow up, because wow, I bet he's making me look like a tot- wait I said I was supposed to stop.

Second Draft
Believing that Badge Hunters are people who only seek the badges exchanged out by the Security Council and General Assembly for their authorships for resolutions

Understanding that most authors are not in it for the badges, often writing in the GA and SC to make the world a better place one submission at a time.

Knowing that some regions, some minding their business, may be stuffed into the spotlight which can negatively affect them, and if they're not ready to defend themselves from this attention, it can lead to undesirable and unwanted actions on their region if they don't have the right resources.

Noticing that some authors spend no time on the problem/situation at hand and attempt to poorly piece resolutions together and sent it out to the voting floor.

Aware that some situations for the Council are sometimes dire, penmanship is still the key to helping everyone grow and improve.

Hoping that these hunters can be addressed by the council, and work together to prevent authors from trying to campaign their way into undesired actions from the nominees in question.

Noting that while the defense of regional natives can sometimes counteract the effects of unwanted attention from the Council, it may not always be enough to stop the badge hunters in their tracks, forcing the Council into unnecessary action to try to stop the hunters from pushing unnecessary and potentially harmful proposals to the voting floor.

HEREBY declares that the Council discourages the practice.

Current Draft:
Sneering at people whose sole goal is to clog up the boxes of the WA with useless and meaningless proposals that ultimately either get discarded by the SC’s arbiters of legality or thrown away to be forgotten about.

Chuckling at the fact people of this caliber have been appearing more in recent times, with them clogging up the boxes even more to a degree than before.

Confused by how effortless and thoughtless their writings can be, without much of a merit, only looking for either attention or overall wars about how completely meaningless said proposal is.

Bewildered that these people keep going with their posts, often going against their critics in horrifically pointless and terribly thought-out proposals that keep appearing at more a rapid pace.

Regretting something like this even needs to be conjured up and sent out into the world, hoping that these finally are put to rest, at least for the time being.

Self Aware these may be glorifying them, but nevertheless was never about giving them glory or attention, and just showing that the world stage doesn't want them on the assembly throwing paper around the place with no merit or penmanship

Believing Penmanship is key to everyone's success, and abuse of it is deemed completely offensive as it puts focus on the wrong people, and causes actual talented writers to feel buried as the world focuses its eyeglasses on horrific writings.

HEREBY declares that these people are causing great pain on writers' moods around the world.

Oh, and I know the irony on this post, but I just want to improve my writing skills, so I probably won't even do much more about this.

With a bit of work this could be polished up into something quite amusing. Certainly there’s the potential for that.

Interesting proposition. Surprised this idea wasn't taken up by any prior badge hunters in the past.

Firstly, you should probably not put your current draft in a spoiler.

Collection Session wrote:Believing that Badge Hunters are people who only seek the badges handed out by the Security Council and General Council on their profile.

*General Assembly, also I don't know how legal it would be to say "profile," perhaps exchange the wording with "badges handed out by the Security Council and General Assembly for authorships of resolutions."

Understanding that not everyone is always there just for the badges, often writing in the general/security to make the world a better place one submission at a time. However, Hunters are always lurking.

My proposed rewrite to just make this a little cleaner-
"Understanding that most World Assembly authors are not in it for the badges, often writing in the GA and SC to make the world a better place one submission at a time," and then include the "hunters lurking" part in a different clause.

Knowing that some regions, some minding their business, may be stuffed into the spotlight that can negatively affect them, and if they're not ready to defend themselves from this attention, it can lead to undesirable and unwanted actions on their region if they don't have the right resources.

Full support for this clause, however maybe you should consider a separate clause about other effects of badge hunting such as unnecessary and poor, rushed resolutions being passed or taking up time on the voting floor.

Hoping that these hunters can be addressed by the council, and work together to prevent these people from trying to campaign their way into undesirable actions from the region-mates.

You should probably capitalize Council, and the rest could definitely be written to be more clear and make more sense. As it's written now, I'm not entirely sure what this is supposed to mean.

Noting that while the help of natives can sometimes destroy most unwanted attention in their tracks, they may not always be there to help stop the hunters in their track, forcing people to unnecessary try and stop the hunters from pushing unnecessary and potentially harmful stuff.

Some good old proofreading does the trick here, here are my proposed changes-
"Noting that while the defense of regional natives can sometimes counteract the effects of unwanted attention from the Council, it may not always be enough to stop the badge hunters in their tracks, forcing the Council into unnecessary action to try to stop the hunters from pushing unnecessary and potentially harmful proposals to the voting floor,"

HEREBY declares its stance against Badge Hunters.[/spoiler]

You can go a little further here, and say that the Council discourages the practice, but considering neither wordings are binding, it's completely up to you.

All in all, I think this has a lot of potential and I like the creativity here.

Ok, here it should be now, now polished and everything, I will remove this post once I'm home in like 7 hours, so it'll be a while.

I'll be changing the wording around because I'm sorta just copying what was given to me 1 to 1, so eventually, I'll get around to tweaking it just a bit more.

Thanks, Jedinsto for making this go along a bit better, if this is going to even come close to actually happening.

Definitely in favor of this. Strongly against badge hunters. I'd even be ok with making the wording stronger, maybe change discourages to condemns or denounces.

A stance taken against badge hunters, by someone hunting for a badge? It doesn't get much stupider than this. Why hide behind a puppet? Just use your real nation and some credibility might be given.....

I'm not hunting for the badge, the badge was never really my intention, I only plan on submitting this via my main account, however, I use puppets all the time for about everything I do in nation-states, it is my play style. I just want to help curb the future of these people, no matter what.

How is this a badge hunt? It's a pretty solid start and the author is receptive to feedback. Sure, it's their first time, but declarations are a good start for many nations trying their hands at WA writing.

I'd honestly concur with Wayne on this one. The entire WA's community's stance on badge hunting is pretty obvious, I fail to see the need for a declaration.

Plus the irony of trying an easy resolution specifically on the topic of badge hunters.
800 wrote:I just want to help curb the future of these people, no matter what.

Declarations are toothless for the record. If you thought this will stop badge hunters... think again.

Oh no, badge hunters, the travesty!!!

We don’t look down on people that try and collect achievement trophies, and badges are the closest thing that NS has to trophies. Let people play the game how they want to play. If individuals purely seek a badge but write a garbage proposal and put zero effort in, we can go after them for writing a garbage proposal and putting in no effort. If someone seeks a badge but actually does a good job, that shouldn’t be looked down upon.

Strong against.

Here's the version that is complete nonsense.

Aware that these "Badge Hunters" are always lurking like hawks to come down and swoop in for potential freemium badges on their profile.

Understanding that some people are not there for the badge, however, some are, and they're always watching, waiting to try and get anything and everything they can grab their hands onto.

Determined to help put a stop to this one declaration at a time, no matter the cost and efforts to defend from these hunters.

Knowing that these people can't be trusted with any sense of dignity due to their nature of being completely badge-crazy and having nothing else of substance to them.

Sneering at the people who always wish to only gain badges, no matter what the cost is, no matter how many days they may waste of fellow members.

Ready to stand and defend against the badge hawks, or badge hunters, and keeping the place safe from time being wasted

HEREBY declares its stance against Badge Hunters.

Of course this Draft is a total meme, why wouldnt it be.
