The Taliban have taken full control of Afghanistan, after preparing for years. Their leader, Haibatullah Akhundzada, started a coup, murdering the President and his loyal advisors, which started a five year long civil war. Multiple border skirmishes occurred on the border of the USSGR in the later months, and as they did that, they started the “Sharia Law”, and destroyed basically all of womens rights. Many women and men fled the border to the USSGR, but many who did not were murdered by the Taliban. These humanitarian crimes were condemned by the UN, and multiple times the Security Council, consisting of the United Socialist States of Greater Russia, the United Kingdom, the Germanian Republic and Japan, discussed on what to do about the situation, although only the UK sent soldiers to aid the former government.
June 1st, 2023
The Taliban initiated a bombing raid on the bordering Greater Russian city of Tebiz. The UN condemned this action immediately, and the Tsar of Russia demanded compensation. The Taliban refused and escalated the conflict, sending soldiers into the city. The USSGR continued to demand they remove their troops, but didn’t stop, and then attacked the other bordering city of Dusti, and ended up killing 2000 people.
Due to this, the USSGRs Tsar, Sergei Antonov, declared war on the Taliban, along with the support of the Warsaw Pact. They sent soldiers to attack the Taliban and pushed them out of their territory. What the other countries in the UN, ACP or FTO remains to be seen.
OOC: Welcome! This is the signup and OOC discussion thread for The Russian-Afghan War. I will make the IC later. It’s my first time making my own RP Thread so pls don’t be too harsh, and read my factbooks, like the map, timeline and military to get a feel of what happened.
The sides
The Warsaw Pact: Russia, known as the United Socialist States of Greater Russia, founded this during the Cold War. It contains some governments that are incredibly close (Imagine Puppet Goverments) and close allies, although some countries like Serbia and Italy, who are socialist, are drifting from them. The Warsaw Pact has announced its full support for the USSGR, and say they will send lots of soldiers to aid them.
The Taliban: The Taliban, or the Islamic State of Afghanistan, is an Islamic fundamentalist group. Their leader is Haibatullah Akhundzada, who rules with an iron fist and has started Sharia Law. Pakistan, the UAE, Syria, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait have all officially announced support for the Taliban, but they might start spreading their ideals to Israel, who may be easily susceptible to their ideology.
Alliances:
The ACP stands for the Anti-Communist Pact and contains Turkey (the founder), the UK, the Free States Union, Spain, and Israel. They are against Communism and work to stop it, but due to this conflict they *may* have an uneasy alliance.
The FTO stands for the Freedom Treaty Organisation, why try and keep peace, and are rivalled to the ACP. They also contain France (the founder), Bosnia, Albania, Croatia, Sweden, and New England.
