Introduction

Welcome to the twelfth edition of the CMFA Mandalanusa Cup (formerly CMFA Melayu Archipelago Cup). The CMFA Mandalanusa Cup is the most prestigious football championship in the region of Mandalanusa (formerly Melayu Archipelago). The championship is organized and managed by the regional football confederation named Confederation of Mandalanusa Football Associations (CMFA).

Participation

Any nation who wants to participate in the championship must first be an active member of the CMFA and membership to the CMFA is limited to Mandalanusan nations only. Membership to the CMFA will be revoked if the member nation signs up for the IAC. Therefore, only Mandalanusan nations not competing in the IAC are eligible to participate in the CMFA Mandalanusa Cup.

Each user may enter up to two nations. The second nation, known as a puppet must be declared and confirmed by the first nation.

Sign up for the championship in this thread. Submit your host bid in this thread too if you wish to host the tournament. Hosting shall be determined by a host bid vote, those wishing to host should be well-versed in xkoranate. A tournament like this serves as an excellent launching point for those wishing to get into hosting.

Otksarin's bid for CMFA Mandalanusa Cup 12

With the Gothanita Isles Football Confederation (GIFC) failing to secure enough funding to participate in international football competitions, TGI has stopped participating in WCC competitions. Nevertheless, football-crazy Otksarin continues to push for avenues to participate in football, and has gotten private funding from Otksars to participate in the 12th Mandalanusa Cup. This is also accompanied by a host bid, with the hopes that revenue from foreign teams and visitors could provide extra income for the Otksarin football team.

The Format
Regionals have always been an avenue for teams to try new things, showcase their culture (in football or otherwise), and give younger players an experience of the big stage. As such, we will adopt a format where we try to have at least 50% of the teams qualify for the knockout stages.

Preferred Group Stage formats will be as such. Ranks updated to MAC11 will be used as the basis of seeding, with no automatic Pot 1 status for Otksarin should the rankings determine as such. Single round-robin will be used regardless of the format.

15 teams (current number): 3 groups of 5. Top 2 teams and 2 best third-placed teams qualify for the knockout stages.
16 teams: 4 groups of 4. Top 2 teams qualify for the knockout stages.
20 teams: 4 groups of 5. Group winner qualifies for Quarterfinals, next 2 teams qualify for Round of 12

Group Stage Tiebreakers
1) Points (3 for a win, 1 for a draw)
2) Points from games between tied teams
3) Goal Difference from games between tied teams
4) Goal Difference
5) Wins
6) Coin Flip (OOC: Scorinated games between tied teams, with draws turned off)
Should multi-way ties appear, we will go down the list until at least one team is eliminated from the tie, then restart from the top with the remaining teams.

In the knockouts, teams will play each other in a straight knockout format, with a bronze medal match for the losing semifinalists. The bracket will be a fixed bracket based on group positions in the group stage, designed to minimise meetings till later stage in the tournaments. It would be similar to what is typically employed in the World Cup.

OOC Scorination details
The tournament will be scored using xkoronate, with the NSFS formula. For the knockout stages, any games involving the host will be scorinated by a third-party. Cutoffs will be held every 48 hours where possible, giving participants ample time to RP. The cutoffs will likely be around 8pm Singapore Time (UTC+8), or 12 noon UTC, 1pm Central European Time (UTC+1).

For every cutoff, a cumulative RP bonus scale of 0-4 will be used. Apart from any RP bonus raked up, the host will be given an additional host bonus of 2. The RP bonus will be given primary based on quality and effort of RP, regardless of the medium of presentation.
A roster bonus and no-roster penalty system will be used. To encourage rosters to be posted before the first cutoff, up to 1.5x the RP bonus will be given for all rosters posted before that. (Rosters posted after first cutoff will continue to be given a roster bonus, up to the max RP bonus.) For teams without roster, a no-roster penalty of up to 50% will be given. The roster penalty will be incremental such that at the end of the group stage, the roster penalty reach the cap, ie. 50% of a team's rank.

Any other matters
With the rise of Artificial Intelligence Programs that can generate images & large chunks of text, the host believes that any use of the AI Programs as part of roleplaying should be declared. In particular, we believe that AI-generated text should not be given any roleplaying credit. Should any roleplay posted for credit be found to have utilised such AI programs, the host will take action similar to that of RP plagarism.

For AI-generated images used as part of an original roleplay, the host would consider them to be similar to using online-found stock images. No additional credit would be given for usage of such images.
