Do you have a preferred way that you would like YN to be pronounced?
I know that this is primarily a text-based medium, but I see lots of nation names and I sometimes scratch my head about how they are pronounced, and I wonder if people look at my nation name and think, "okay, I can think of two ways of pronouncing that, which way would the poster pronounce that name?" This thread is an attempt to provide greater clarity (and pronunciation is a great thing to add to a Factbook!)
I'll start. As for Shrevashal, the natives would call it SHREV-uh-shal, but they're happy that you're making the effort.
We have a lot of posters here whose first language is not English. For those speakers of IPA phonetic it is /'ʃrɛv.ə.ʃal/ Even that's not a "universal language" since IPA phonetic is tilted toward English.
Maybe we try Esperanto? Ŝrevaŝalujo?
