"A match against Cassadaigua, even in a tournament such as the Brevity Cup, is going to be a tall order," said Oberour manager Bertele Juillet. "A win and the Dragoons are on their way. A loss and we're on the backfoot going forward."

"Powers and Authorities protect us!" he exclaimed.

50 word prompt response

There are several musicians in the team. Tommy Bernauer plays guitar in a hardcore punk band called No Inflection Point; Dragotin Klanènik plays the traditional Ruhntuhnkuhnlander mandolin; and Aaron Pfeifer has a strong baritone singing voice. Lukas Wolf, a fingerstyle guitar picker, is the most talented musician in the team.

* Technically, players such as Dragotin Klanènik are Ruhntuhnkuhnlander, but in practice, ‘Schutzenphalian’ is used as an omnibus descriptor for everyone from the United Iron Principality.
Team nickname: Mountaineers

Staff

Head coach: Max Renner (56)
Assistant coach: Oliver Uhe (30)

Renner is a coach who likes adaptable players capable of covering multiple positions. Uhe is a young advocate of analytics who never made it to professional football after spending some time in the semi-pro ligen.

All players play in the Schutzenlige unless otherwise stated.

A random person entered to the offices of the Brevity Challenge Cup organisers to provide them with an envelope, there was a note with a list of 25 players inside of it, with basic data of them and also a little information of what they do in their daily lives.

The person, who argued to be a representative of the Huayramarcan Football Federation left the place and laughed after it, his plan was working well and nobody would suspect it, he thinks.

25 random people, from all different walks of life, from criminals to professionals who haven't seen to each other in their lives, without knowing what they do, a complete surprise in the list of players to field in the Brevity Cup. Their style is offensive (+5), they can go for everything in a football match, they just want to win no matter what.

Who on Earth thought that fielding a team featuring a drug dealer, a police officer, a dog trainer, a random guy picked from the main square of a village was a good idea? I guess that nobody except a dumb guy, it had to be Huayramarcan, we are all crazy!

Team Cassadaigua- Brevity Cup 4

Coach- Hannah Shanley (Starksville United) (48)
Starting defender from World Cups 80-83, and then served as a regular substitute in World Cup 84. Has served in this role since World Cup 85, and that includes while she was still active as a player for a little while. Some are beginning to think that Shanley might be a little too focused on the national team, given Starksville United’s struggles of late. Shanley has been a regular assistant of Byers, but did not serve as such in the Copa Rushmori 40 title run. Has had some opportunities to manage junior teams, but is getting a chance to be the manager here. Being named to this position does not imply that Brittany Byers is not going to be back to her role.

Assistant- Chelsea Blake (Rutland FC) (49)
Respected World Cup defender for many cycles, and a regular teammate of Shanley’s on the field. As such, they remain close friends and Blake gets a taste of international duty here. With Rutland FC, she has managed a mid-table, at best, side. The fact that Starksville United and Rutland FC are bitter rivals as not impacted the friendship of the coaches.

Starters in Green
Subs in Blue
Reserves in Red

Goalkeepers:
#20- Sophia Harlowe (33) (North Granby)- Reserve WC 92
#21- Erica Knapp (21) (Concord Heights City)- International Debut- Senior teams
#30- Meghan Lewis (20) (Starksville United)- International Debut- Senior teams

Expect Harlowe to get most, if not all of the work here. She’s a great story of player who got better with age and was named as a reserve to the World Cup team as an appreciation for her career. Now, the Brevity Cup gives her a chance to get regular time. Knapp and Lewis are names to watch for the future.

Defenders:
#6- Rachel Becker (21) (New Lakeland SC)- Reserve CR 41, Sub WC 92
#4- Alyssa Marlin (19) (Winchester City)- International Debut- Senior teams
#3- Maddie Hertel (21) (White Mountain)- International Debut- Senior teams
#2- Ashley Crossman (28) (Concord Heights City)- International Debut- Senior teams

#23- Kirsten Hughes (19) (Brattleboro FC)- International Debut- Senior teams
#24- Kevin Renberg (18) (Winchester Traditional SC)- International Debut- Senior teams

#25- Brian Bennett (19) (Fairfax FC)- International Debut- Senior teams
#26- Allie Cloverfield (26) (Victoriaville South End)- International Debut- Senior teams

CASE has high hopes for Rachel Becker, and she has been performing very well with New Lakeland SC and made the most of her opportunities in the World Cup. Marlin is someone that is expected, in time, to get at least Copa Rushmori playing time if not World Cup time. The other names will need to make the most of this opportunity to make an impression.

Midfielders:

#19- Kaitlyn Millikan (20) (Concord Heights City)- Sub WC 92
#8- Jenna Stokley (21) (New Lakeland SC)- Reserve WC 92
#16- Marquis Miles (22) (Victoriaville City)- Sub WC 92
#12- Alyssa Mueller (20) (Victoriaville City)- International Debut- Senior teams

#27- Courtney Edwards (19) (White Mountain)- International Debut- Senior teams
#32- Abby Piscitelli (19) (Concord Heights Suburban)- International Debut- Senior teams

#34- Stephanie Sykes (26) (Starksville Coastal)- International Debut- Senior teams
#36- Hannah Corbitt (18) (North Granby)- International Debut- Senior teams

While everyone here is capable, the go-to players are Millikan and Stokley. Scouts are raving about the potential of Kaitlyn Millikan, and she made the most of her World Cup time. Marquis Miles is seen as the best homegrown male talent we have seen in a very long time. Courtney Edwards might not see a lot of playing time, but if you have never heard her play the trumpet, you are truly missing out. If soccer never worked out for her, she would most definitely have a future as an entertainer. Though fans in White Mountain are more than aware of her talent. She has played the Cassadagan national anthem as a trumpet solo before games on plenty of occasions.

Forwards:
#9- Allyson Perry (23) (Winchester City)- Sub CR 41, WC 92, Starter DBC 52, Reserve WC 91 (TEAM CAPTAIN)
#43- Lexi McGregor (18) (Starksville United)- Reserve WC 92

#38- Kelsey Whitman (27) (Brattleboro FC)- International Debut- Senior teams
#44- Heather McKinstry (29) (Concord Heights Suburban)- International Debut- Senior teams

#29- Lacey Sherwood (18) (Rutland Dockside)- International Debut- Senior teams
#28- Tyler Pickett (19) (Grande Mountain Men’s Club)- International Debut- Senior teams

A great chance for Allyson Perry to be the go-to, featured player. Being a year than World Cup starters Chloe Anderson and Rachel Boldin makes it hard for her to get starting time herself, but whenever Perry has been used as a substitute, she has been highly effective. Lexi McGregor is a player with a ton of flair (aka arrogance), and feels that she is the best player in Cassadaigua already. She has backed that up to an extent, and made the most of very limited playing time in the World Cup. Scored one goal and executed her now signature cartwheels after scoring a goal.

Ketiou is a young nation located in south-west Rushmore on the Goose Coast, next to Djocoranga and Mwembamba. The Ketioulais were colonised by Prahecq centuries ago and are still recovering from the scars of colonialism, a bloody revolution managed to push the Prahecqois out and the key dates of 1093 and the whole month of August – regarded as a revolutionary month – are venerated across the country. Ketiou’s relationship to the colonial metropole can be seen in the make-up of their national team, with 18 of their 26-man squad playing in the Prahecqois Championnat, most of these players being born in Prahecq to Ketioulais parents. Only six players play for domestic sides, with the other two – Antoine Mushiya and Damilola Camara – plying their trade in Mytanija’s Druga Liga.

Ketiou is currently run as a federal Utilist-Tolikist one-party socialist republic, with political dissidence harshly punished. The lack of political freedom has been somewhat mitigated by the country’s economic and social development under this system. Revolutionary President Amidou Kassambara’s ambitious policy programme has seen the country nationalise all land and mineral wealth; launch a nationwide literacy campaign; redistribute land to peasants; large-scale road and rail construction; and a drive for agrarian self-sufficiency. Public health has also been an important area, with enormous vaccination programmes; newly-built medical dispensaries in every city, town and village; and the outlawing of female genital mutilation. Kassambara has pursued an anti-imperialist foreign policy, shunning foreign aid, pushing for debt reduction and regularly criticising Prahecq for their colonial terror.

The best players in the squad are towering Étoile Rouge centre-half Maxi Dumont and tricky Douanes’ winger Manu Bethuna. There is a wealth of promising young talent sprinkled throughout the squad, particularly midfield creator Ghislain Nana and young strikers Connaissance Mambeka and Kanga Mbo Mbo.

“Look,” President Kassambara gestured to the foreign sports magazine in his hand, seething. “They have us down here as Brevity Cup debutants ‘KEITOU’, ignorant imperialist pigs!”

“Hmm, it must be a mistake…” Frédéric, his eternally harassed chief aide replied quietly. Unimaginable power and a misprint is what he focused on.

Delaclava will be bringing a lot of strong players to Banija for the Brevity Challenge Cup. Current stars, veterans seeking one last hurrah, possibly some new blood too?

The Phoenixes face Drawkland first. The Elite Eleven ought to be very strong. It's too bad this isn't a sixteen team tournament.

Loyo isn’t a nation known for football. Baseball was her first love, and the traditions of the ancients hold her citizens in a captivating grip. Still, the game has found a new popularity since the nation opened itself to the world again. Children play the game in the streets, kicking plastic bottles around in lieu of proper balls. Passionate fans crowd around fields that were once used for farming, but now host traveling groups of footballers that thrill locals with the foreign game. Small-town celebrities have been made overnight with stellar performances loudly applauded, and schools are abuzz with talk of domestic and international stars.

Many find in football a return to sport for sporting’s sake, allowing for men and women alike to participate in the joy of the beautiful game after a long week’s work. Yet more see opportunity in the social gatherings that accompany the game, with the more casual atmosphere more conducive to recreation and relaxation than the rabid energy of Loyo’s baseball league.

Manager Han Tamada has been the driving force behind the team’s appearance's since the Baptism of Fire campaign, and his connections within the Communist Party of Loyo have played a part in ensuring the national team will be supplied with the meager essentials to compete. Plans to construct a stadium befitting a national team have been held up, but success on the pitch may free up the project’s roadblocks.

The team itself is a mixed bag of talent from the country’s touring semi-professional clubs. Captain Tsujii Matashichi, will captain the team, selected for his management skills on and off the pitch. He functions as Tamada’s right hand, carrying out the will of the manager, whom he has known for his entire life.

The best player on the pitch is likely to be creative attacking midfielder Osuma Jinaowa, who caught the eye of the manager while playing a pickup game only a month before the tournament. Jinaowa has a natural gift for the game, and has impressed manager and teammates alike with his crafty movements. However, he’s fallen into a bit of a situation with the manager, Tamada, for his critical comments of the team before the Baptism of Fire final, which Loyo ended up winning in tense penalty shootout.

Musical Info

Argayagoyena has a wonderful deep singing voice, and captain Matashichi plays the flute with wonderful mastery. Han Tamada plays the horn, and most of the military men and women can play some instrument or another.

What’s the hardest thing about football in Loyo? The ball. A lack of support for the game leaves many rural football fans forced crafting their own balls from a creative list of parts: plastic bottles, string, and torn-up sneakers.

Even though they’re torn, they’re the best balls in the world.

ROSTER FOR BREVITY CHALLENGE CUP 4

It's brief, y'all. (This is the team that Ceni would have sent to the DBC preceding WC 92 which did not happen, for reasons.)

Tara Moacyr plays the piano. Kyn Koriden somehow plays the mountain dulcimer. Jacob Temarch-Montella is learning to play the Electrumite nose flute, but poorly. And if pressed, Andreia Tiburão will demonstrate her uncommonly good knowledge of the double flagiolet. (No, I didn't make that up.)

Wasa Sohna was sitting, looking at the banjo in his locker.

"This banjo? It provides me power." Sohna thought to himself. "Dad bought me this banjo after I won a U7 final. This banjo has given me direction. And after I score tonight- I'm playing this thing all night long."

Zoan: I'd love to make a song with Droozle. We could be like Simon and Zarlunkel, with his angelic voice accentuating my lyrics.

Excerpt from my lyrics notebook:

'He droozles on da pitch
And all over ya bitch'

Bars right? Maybe we could get hired to officially write Lozhoan anthems.

I detest playing that football manager game. You start with a lowly side in some backwater league, you devote time and energy, and you slowly fall in love with those black and white stripes, that hot prospect and the old defender. And then they sack you for bankrupting the club.

Ed Rodriguez is "that guy" who brings his guitar to a party. After the loss, Ken Nelson has the guys over for a bonfire. Ed plays the blues, but Ken's wife whispers in his ear. He looks nervous, but strums while she sings an old song in her haunting soprano.

“You know, boss,” Emma Arthur, mesmerized, told Saad Kaykali, “I never knew you could play piano that good. We should do a duet sometime.”

Saad nodded without looking back, fingers dancing on the keys. “My wife was much better than me.”

“Was she a great pianist?”

“Best I’ve ever seen.”

“Well would you look at that,” Combbrush said as his team walked off the pitch. “It’s like the Cup of Harmony bug never left us.”

“Try to say that again, Dr. Lucas,” replied goalkeeper Asad "The Best" Music.

“Another one? Please, we have two games to go.”

“Ask Liam Barney.”

My name is Petr Zeman. I am a soccer forward, and I play the oboe. I am simply flawless at it. Flawless.

Yesterday we lost a game to Drawkland, three goals to one. We tried our best to fight it, but it's true: Drawkland is my big strong power daddy.

The Mountaineers, one of world football's least successful sides, picked up a rare win courtesy of a Lukas Wolf free kick and a brace of goals from Lucas von Wolfberg. Substitute Kai Röthke headed in a fourth, questionably offside, though there weren't enough words left for a video assisted review.
