The Blackfyre Rebellion - A Game of Thrones RP

Welcome to another Game of Thrones RP! We hope you will consider joining.

Premise:

This RP will take place in the world of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. The history presented by Martin will be largely accurate, but we will diverge from that history beginning in 200 AC, for players to make their own history and characters. You shall RP one of the Houses of Westeros jostling for power, and you may create whatever characters you wish as part of that house, within reason. As such, although characters may be similar to the characters created by Martin, each character will act as an invention of the person RPing them.

As explained above, players may change the history of their houses beginning in 200 AC. There are a handful of important historical events to know about:

The Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion - took place in 236 AC where Daeron Blackfyre, leading an army from Essos, was defeated by the Westerosi. Your older characters may have participated, or at least have memories of this war.

The Tragedy of Summerhall - A terrible fire broke out at the Targaryen’s residence at Summerhall in 259 AC, just one year before the start of the RP. The result was the death of King Jaehaerys Targaryen’s son and heir, Aerys Targaryen, leaving him with no male heir.



Rules:

1) No metagaming, goddmodding, etc.
2) No one-liners; every post should be at least two paragraphs, with 8 sentences minimum.
3) No fast traveling; the Game of Thrones world is huge, and it takes time to travel. In some circumstances, it may make sense for characters to retroactively predate their posts such that they arrive within a reasonable time, but characters cannot have knowledge of events that should not have reached them yet.
4) It is Game of Thrones; all characters can die.
5) Accept the rulings of the OP and Co-Op
6) If you do not post in the OOC, IC, or notify either the OP or Co-OP of an absence for more than a week, we may take control of and/or reassign your house.

The year is 260 AC. The Tragedy at Sumerhall, a terrible fire that broke out in the royal palace at Summerhall one year prior, left the elderly Jaehaerys Targaryen as King of the Seven Kingdoms without a male heir.. His eldest son, Aerys, was tragically lost to the fire, leaving his daughter, Rhaella Targaryen, set to inherit the Iron Throne. The Lords and Ladies of Westeros behind closed doors lament the idea of a woman as heir, and some have looked to another: the King’s nephew, born of his brother Daeron Targaryen. Aegon Targaryen, however, was born of Daeron’s love for a commoner, and many view him as not well suited to take the throne.

There is yet another option for the Lords of Westeros who would prefer to see a powerful king with the blood of the dragon. The claim of House Blackfyre, after failing to take the throne no less than four times prior, appears to be stronger than ever. Daemon Blackfyre IV, captain of the Golden Company, eyes the Iron Throne from his villa in Volantis, awaiting the right moment to claim his throne. With the Targaryen heir throne in doubt, some believe that now is his time.

Most likely to support this claim are the Lords of Westeros who have been most snubbed under Jaehaerys rule. Jaehaerys friendship with his Hand, Allistor Reyne, has led to the Reynes becoming one of the most powerful families in Westeros. Having been granted Harrenhal several years prior, the Reynes now command as many men, horses, and as much wealth as any other family in Westeros. So much has the wealth of House Reyne grown that there are doubtless numerous houses who are unnerved by their rise.

Characters:

Lady Lehna Reyne (80 years old) - Lady Lehna Reyne is the current Lady of Castamere in the Westerlands. She inherited it from her father after her younger brother died of an illness as a child. In her youth, she was known for her cleverness, and outspokenness. But now she is too old and sickly to even oversee audiences in the great hall of Castamere. She has shrunk down, and walks with a hump.

Lord Alvar Reyne (58 years old) - Lord Alvar Reyne is the first son of Lehna Reyne and heir to Castamere, and currently oversees Castamere. He grew up as the Reynes were coming into their wealth, and became a shrewd expert at managing the Reyne’s operations. Currently, he rules over Castamere in his mother’s stead. Alvar is average sized, and has been bald since his early thirties. He was raised to become a knight, but was never quite skilled enough to gain such acclaim.

Lady Allysane Lefford (deceased) - Lady Allysane was the wife to Alvar Reyne. She died giving birth to Trenis Reyne

Lady Eyva Reyne (22 years old) - Lady Eyva is the eldest child of Alvar Reyne. She is of average height and appearance, with brunette hair and dark blue eyes. Lady Eyva is her grandmother’s clear favorite. She is an avaricious reader, and collector of knowledge. While generally considered a position unsuitable for a woman, Lady Eyva works closely with her father to oversee his books and papers calculating the yield of Castamere’s diamond mines. She was recently wed to Tristian Tyrell.

Lord Trenis Reyne (16 years old) - Lord Trenis Reyne is the only son of Alvar and Allysane. Due to complications from his birth in which his mother died, Trenis was a sickly child. He recovered, however, and while he would never grow to be even average height, he proved to be a skilled swordsman, and was given the opportunity to squire for Dallar Reyne in King's Landing. He has brown hair, like his father, and dark blue eyes.

Lord Alastor Reyne (55 years old) - Lord Allistor Reyne is the current Lord of Harrenhal, and Hand of the King. The second son of Lehna, Alastor was not set to inherit anything he did not take for himself. Availing himself of his family’s massive wealth, he was able to negotiate a position for himself on the small council as Master of Coin. After several years in King's Landing and befriending the King, he was appointed Hand of the King, and later, in 258 AC, granted Harrenhal. Alastor is of average height, like his brother, but unlike his brother he kept his brown hair. He is dutiful, calculating, and ambitious, but comes off as amiable, which has led to his befriending many a lord of the Seven Kingdoms.

Lady Ellyn Reyne (age 48) - Formerly Ellyn Tarbeck, Ellyn Reyne is the wife of Alastor Reyne and mother of Dallar and Olivar. The youngest daughter of her family, Alastor Reyne was deemed an acceptable match, despite the fact that he was a second son with no titles to inherit. She was resistant at first, as Alastor was not particularly attractive, nor was he a great warrior or particularly chivalrous. But she quickly grew to like him, and Alastor her. While she was intelligent, and had a knack for administration, she disdained politics. After Alastor was awarded Harrenhal, Ellyn was sent to the ruin to manage the lands, and prepare for the Reynes to eventually inhabit the castle after Alastor’s tenure as Hand comes to an end.

Ser Dallar Reyne (28 years old) - Ser Dallar is the eldest son of Alastor Reyne and heir to Harrenhal. Dallar is taller than his father; at 6’1, he towers over most of the Reynes. He is intelligent, like his father, but is also an incredibly talented warrior. He brought his family further acclaim during their precipitous rise in the past few years by placing in a number of tournaments, becoming a household name. However, being one of the most skilled warriors in the Seven Kingdoms and having grown up in one of the wealthiest families in the Seven Kingdoms, Dallar is a massive narcissist, and to some extent delusional. He is gregarious, and spends most of his time not spent fighting, drinking and whoring in King’s Landing. Dallar has dark brown hair, darker than his father’s or brothers, and dark blue eyes.

Lady Dyanne Reyne (25 years old) - Formerly Lady Dyanne Rykker, Lady Dyanne was married to Ser Dallar in 252 AC. She detests Ser Dallar, and generally remains at Duskendale, only occasionally traveling to King’s Landing. Dallar is not very fond of her either, and for many years they failed to sire an heir. However, just recently Lady Dyanne announced she was pregnant. It is unclear whether the timing works to match Dyanne’s last trip to King’s Landing, and a number of lords speculate that the child is not Ser Dallar’s, although no one has made such an accusation.

Lord Olivar Reyne (24 years old) - Olivar is Alastor Reyne’s youngest child. Olivar is of average height, and his hair is lighter brown than most of his family. Similarly, his eyes are a brighter shade of blue than most of his family. Unlike his brother Dallar, Olivar could never become a great warrior, having spent years training to be at best mediocre with a sword. Olivar grew up jealous of his brother, who always got more attention. After failing to match his brother’s sword skills, he turned to other pursuits. His father (Alastor) named him his clerk and head of his household guard, and for years Olivar has attended Small Council meetings, although standing in the background with the Kingsguard, without a seat at the table. With his position as head of the Reyne household guard, and being privy to Small Council meetings, Olivar has developed a network from which he can determine information throughout the Red Keep, and King’s Landing.

Dran Waters (8 years old) - Dran is the bastard child of Dallar and a prostitute in King’s Landing. Discovered by Dallar’s brother Olivar, Olivar arranged for the child to be brought into the Red Keep and used in the kitchens as a busboy. No one knows of the child’s lineage other than Olivar and Dallar; Olivar has not even shared this information with his father. However, the child’s resemblance to Dallar grows by the day.

Military Strength: 15,000 men split between Castamere and Harrenhal

History of the House: The Reynes had long been a wealthy house, but it wasn’t until Lady Lehna Reyne became the Lady of Castamere that the House became one of the wealthiest in Westeros. Under her leadership, the Reynes grew to rival even the Lannisters in terms of wealth. This put the Reynes in a dangerous position, as the Lannisters do not look kindly on their rivals. In 237 AC, the Reynes held a tournament at Castamere to celebrate the birth of Alvar Reyne’s first child. The Reynes offered a large prize to the winner, and knights and lords from all over the Seven Kingdoms traveled to Castamere for the tournament. It was after this tournament that Alastor had secured his position as the next Master of Coin, and he moved to King’s Landing.

Dallar and Olivar grew up in King’s Landing with their father as Master of Coin. Both children knew little of Castamere, only seeing their family occasionally, and usually at King’s Landing as opposed to the Westerlands. Dallar’s success as a warrior gained him some attention, and his name was floated as a candidate for the Kingsguard when he was just 18. Alastor quickly put an end to that idea, however.

In 255 AC, Alastor, after having sat on the Small Council as Master of Coin for over 15 years, was named Hand of the King. Being close friends with the King, Alastor was granted Harrenhal in 258 AC after the House of Lothson unceremoniously disappeared, making him one of the most powerful lords in the Seven Kingdoms, and undoubtedly unnerving a number of families across the Seven Kingdoms wary of the rise of House Reyne.

The Blackfyre Family:

• Daemon IV, Pretender to the Iron Throne and Captain-General of the Golden Company (47): The ninth of the Blackfyre pretenders, Daemon IV is very similar to his namesake and grandfather in appearance; tall, with strong Valyrian features. Unlike his grandfather and father, Daemon IV is a quiet, soft-spoken man, slow to anger but terrible in wrath when roused, capable with a sword but careful about knowing when to draw it and growing slower with the blade with age.
• Trianna of Volantis, His Wife (41): A woman of Valyrian descent from a noble family of Old Volantis that lives behind the Black Wall. Intelligent and quick-witted, her marriage to Daemon was primarily for political reasons as the Old Pretender, Aeron I, sought to move the Blackfyres further away from Westeros as a buffer against assassins and to seem less dangerous. Westeros is a strange, alien and foreign land to her, one she does not quite understand her husband's desire to 'reclaim.'
  
  • Daemon V, Their Son and Heir Apparent (19): An eager, energetic man, Daemon 'the Younger' as he is sometimes called is much a mirror image of his father, with Valyrian features but with the aquiline nose of his mother. Eager to prove himself worthy of his grandfather's name and test his mettle, he seeks both to win glory in battle and to finally see Westeros with his own two eyes rather than the stories told by greying veterans of the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion and exiles.
  • Baela Blackfyre, Their Daughter (16): A thin slip of a girl with Targaryen features, Baela is quiet, but under her mother's tutelage has proven herself more intelligent and capable than her elder brother in every way except for with a sword. She has no desire to go to Westeros, instead preferring to remain in the Blackfyre's villa in Volantis, behind the Black Walls, where she has all she could ever want.
• Relon Draytis, His Cousin (43): A Blackfyre through the female line, being the son of Aerea Blackfyre and a Pentoshi merchant prince, Relon nonetheless considers himself as much a Blackfyre despite his lack of the name as Daemon IV, and his appearance backs his claim with his silver hair but having green eyes. A learned, studious and intelligent man, Relon serves as Daemon IV's advisor, is the Golden Company's Paymaster and negotiated the deal with Alequo Adarys for his ships.

Their Fellow Exiles, Courtiers, Sycophants and Other Assorted Hangers-On:

• Aegor II Bittersteel (58): Bittersteel's second and only surviving son, a greying bearded man who has numerous scars from all the battles he has fought with the Golden Company across the Disputed Lands. A close friend of Daemon IV, a capable fighter and a veteran of the Third Blackfyre Rebellion as his father's squire and the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion, which he only narrowly escaped across the Narrow Sea from, Aegor intends to finish what his father started and see a Blackfyre sit the Iron Throne. A serjeant of the Golden Company.
  
  • His Son, Aenys Bittersteel (26): Aegor's son, Aenys is more bemused by the desire of many to return to Westeros. The most capable fighter among the Golden Company and Daemon IV's court, better than his father or Daemon the Younger, Aenys would much rather stay and fight in the Disputed Lands for coin to spend on whatever he wishes, not fight for lands he has never seen and titles that are meaningless to him. Daemon V's sworn sword, and a close friend and to a lesser degree, mentor. A serjeant of the Golden Company.
• Ser Derrick Fossoway, 'the Bad Apple' (31): A knight of black reputation with hair to match and brown eyes. Born to the 'Red-Apple' Fossoways as a third son, Derrick was exiled following his murder of his elder brother, the Lord of Cider Hall, during a tourney as part of a plot to take the lands for himself. Aligning himself with the Blackfyres to retake his claimed rightful lands, he is a fearsome fighter, second only to Aenys with a sword and better with a lance, but is quarrelsome and prone to drink. A serjeant of the Golden Company.
• Spotted Tom the Butcher (36): A former butcher from White Harbour, 'Spotted Tom', so called for his spot-ridden face and the spotted cat upon his shield, was exiled from Westeros for the crime of poaching on Lord Manderly's lands to get meat to butcher and sell. Enlisting in a small mercenary company, Spotted Tom after a decade of service would come to command the company, renaming it to the Company of the Cat for his shield. Coming to the notice of Daemon IV after a battle in the Disputed Lands, Spotted Tom and his small company of a few hundred warriors attatched themselves to the Blackfyre cause. Balding with green eyes.
• Liomond Lashare, 'the Lord of Battles' (64): An old sellsword and close friend of Aegor II, Liomond Lashare is a Tyroshi sellsword and captain of the Long Lances. A friend of Aegor II, although often taking the field against him, Liomond Lashare is said to have never lost a battle without winning the war with his defeat. An extremely experienced and capable commander. His grey hair is usually dyed a vibrant green to match his eyes.
• Uther Peake (34): A brown-haired man with a bushy beard and a scar over a missing eye, Uther Peake is the grandson of Gormon Peake, who died in the Second Blackfyre Rebellion. Seeking the return of his family's lands, castles and prominence through a Blackfyre restoration, Uther is a loyal and zealous supporter of the Blackfyre cause. A serjeant of the Golden Company.
• Marq Toyne (29): A thin man with a crooked nose and jaw and dirty blonde hair, Marq Toyne follows the legacy of his father in his support for the Blackfyre cause, desiring to reclaim the lands lost under the reign of Aegon IV promised to his grandfather by Daemon I. An experienced fighter and commander, Marq is one of the serjeants of the Golden Company.
• Roy Strickland (27): A balding man with a big round head and grey eyes, Roy Strickland is the grandson of Will Strickland, who fought for the Blackfyres in the First Blackfyre Rebellion and lost his house's lands for it. A cautious, nervous man, Roy is a serjeant of the Golden Company.
• Alequo Adarys, 'the Silvertongue' (47): A Tyroshi merchant prince of a particularly ruthless nature, Alequo Adarys dyes his hair silver and has deep blue eyes. Alequo supports the Blackfyre cause not for land, but for wealth, with Daemon IV offering him some fifty thousand gold dragons for safe passage to Westeros on his fleet, to be paid along with more wealth and lands after his victory. Reluctantly, he is accompanying them to ensure his investment is both worthwhile and successful.

Military Strength: 10,000 men, the vast majority being from the Golden Company with smaller groups from the Company of the Cat and the Long Lances. The Golden Company is a force of highly-experienced, disciplined and well-equipped professional mercenaries hailing from Westeros, formed around a core of Westerosi exiles but including significant numbers of recruits from Lys, Myr and Tyrosh. The Company can muster around five hundred knights armed and armoured in the Westerosi fashion and another 500 squires as lighter cavalry, two-dozen elephants and a thousand archers, split between Myrish crossbowmen and Westerosi archers. The bulk of the company is its heavy infantry, heavily armoured in mail, plate and carrying long spears and large shields, numbering 6,800 strong. The Company of the Cat brings five hundred pike and the Long Lances bring seven hundred light horse.
History of the House:

The history of House Blackfyre is one of exile, rebellion and stubbornness. Following the exile of House Blackfyre at the end of the First Blackfyre Rebellion, Aegor Rivers led the surviving Blackfyres, the oldest only seven to Tyrosh where they found safety and sanctuary with Rohanne of Tyrosh's father, the Archon of Tyrosh. Under his protection, and tutored by their mother and Aegor, the next generation of Blackfyres was taught of their birthright, how it was stolen, and the importance of its reclaimation. To hold the exiled Westerosi together, Aegor founded the Golden Company, an army that would become the core of the Blackfyre Rebellions.

They would try again, repeatedly. The Second Blackfyre Rebellion aimed to achieve through subtlety and conspiracy what force could not. Using a tourney at Whitewalls to gather many Blackfyre loyalists that still held sympathy to the cause or simply wished to regain what they had lost in the First, Daemon II aimed to raise an army at Whitewalls from former supporters and march on King's Landing, to be reinforced by the Golden Company landing near Duskendale. But the Hand of the King, or the Master of Whispers or *someone* learned of the plot and thwarted it before it even began, and Daemon II was imprisoned beneath the Red Keep for another three years until his death in 219.

Hearing of the death of his brother, Haegon crowned himself as the newest Blackfyre pretender and invaded Westeros at the head of the Golden Company. The invasion, which landed on Massey's Hook, ended with Haegon and his younger brother Aenys both slain in battle and Aegor and the new Blackfyre pretender, Daemon III Blackfyre, Haegon's son, fleeing back across the Narrow Sea. Daemon III Blackfyre would die during the Siege of Myr while with the Golden Company, and so the title passed to Daeron I Blackfyre. Ever an eager and impetuous man, Daeron led the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion in 233 which was crushed shortly after landing at Massey's Hook, seeing almost no support from the lords of Westeros other than the rebellion of House Peake in the Reach.

Finally the title of pretender to the seventh of Daemon I's seven sons, Aeron. Never having seen Westeros, and only knowing it through stories and seeing his elder brothers repeated defeats, Aeron instead determined that the Blackfyre cause would have to wait. Instead, he moved to Volantis, where he married into the Volantine Old Blood and ingratiated himself into the court politics of the city, building up wealth and connections and maintaining a close relationship with Aegor Rivers as a father figure of sorts and raising Aegor's son, Aegor II, when Aegor was on campaign.

Aeron died in 255, and his son, Daemon IV, became the Blackfyre Pretender. Having served with the Golden Company and eventually become Captain-General, and with Aeron's work in building up a Blackfyre powerbase in Essos, Daemon IV led the Blackfyre cause at its strongest for decades. Rather than invading immediately, Daemon instead adopted his father's approach of patience, gathering more Westerosi exiles and Essosi sellswords and recruiting his cousin, Relon Draytis, to find him a fleet to bring his host across the Narrow Sea. His patience was eventually rewarded.

The Tragedy at Summerhall scythed through the ranks of the Targaryens. With Rhaella Targaryen left as heir, and already facing a potential rival in Aegon Targaryen, the son of Daeron Targaryen, the time seemed ripe for a Fifth, and hopefully final, Blackfyre Rebellion.

Yes that's accurate, although I believe he will also be RPing King Jaehaerys (Rhaella's father) right now, with Rhaella set to inherit once Jaehaerys dies (although I will let Quendi correct me if I am wrong).

Titles: Princess of Dorne, Lady of Sunspear
Characters: Princess Myriah Nymeros Martell (32 years old) - The reigning Princess of Dorne, Myriah Nymeros Martell ascended the throne at the age of 23, some 12 years ago, after the death of her mother. Myriah, even in her middle age, is a spirited woman, well known for her sharp tongue, flair for the dramatic, and taste for adventure. She is also a renowned warrior - having mastered the spear and shield of her people, she is well known to personally lead her troops into battle, something that scandalizes many outside of her realm. Unlike many Dornishmen, she has little interest in court politics, preferring the clarity of combat. She is quick to anger, judgemental, and reigns with utter surety in her actions. As a young girl, she was Lady-In-Waiting to the then Princess Shaera with whom she struck an unlikely friendship that had continued since she became Queen. She was also very familiar with Shaera's young daughter, Rhaella. Since her husband's appointment as Master of Whispers, she has only seen him infrequently, making a yearly trip to court.

Prince Derion Nymeros Martell (36 years old) - The second son of the Lord of Godsgrace, Derion Allyrion gave up his name at the age of six and ten to become the husband of the heir to Sunspear. A handsome man, Derion is cautious and amenable in public but hides a cunning and ruthless streak behind this courtly persona. He often tempers his wife's more blunt personality, and had taken his eldest son, Doran, under his wing. While now true warrior, he can wield a sword well enough - though his real weapon remains his mind. In the later part of King Aegon V's reign, he has served as Master of Whispers, a role he also assumed under King Jaehaerys II.

Prince Doran Nymeros Martell (17 years old) - The eldest son of the Princess of Dorne, Doran is the future of House Martell. Wise beyond his years, Doran has grown up in the swirl of politics. While closer with his father than mother, Doran recognizes the strength of will required to lead. He is fascinated by politics and the subtle art of courtship. He is utterly devoted to his family and currently seeking a bride to continue the family line. He remains at Sunspear, ruling in his Mothers name on the rare occasions she is outside of Dorne.

Prince Mors Nymeros Martell (16 years old) - A hulking, if plain looking, young man, Mors Martell dwarfs his elder brother, standing nearly six and a half feet in height. Princess Elia Nymeros Martell (4 years old) - A babe of but four years old, Elia is the only daughter of the Princess of Dorne. She is a happy, if rather weak, child, that shows great signs of beauty even in her infancy.

Prince Oberyn Nymeros Martell (3 years old) - A babe of but three years old, Oberyn is an eligible marriage match for any wishing to secure the allegiance of Sunspear. A difficult birth, he is a wild and willful child - the terror of the Water Gardens.

Military Strength: 25,000 men - Despite it's thinly distributed populace, Dorne has a fearsome reputation, one that House Martell has actively stoked with rumours of their ability to field up to 50,000 spears.

The Lords of Dorne primarily fight ahorse alongside their retinue, Dornish armour is noticeably lighter than Northern plate, consisting of a combination of silk robes, leather padding ring and scale mail. Unlike their Andal and First Men counterparts, Dornish cavalry is generally lightly armed and utilized best for scouting, skirmishes, and flanking the enemy.

Dornish infantry is likewise less well armored and primarily rely upon long spears and shields in tight wall formations. Curved scimitars and daggers are common, as are short recurve war bows made from the limited timber found in the southern Deserts.

The Dornish prefer to avoid direct confrontations and are experts in stealth, guerilla warfare, raiding and scouting, freely utilizing such unchivalrous tools like poison to do their work for them. Despite this, many of the world's finest warriors haul from the sands of Dorne.

History of the House: House Martell was founded by Morgan Martell, an Andal adventurer who carved out a small realm along the banks of the Greenblood for him and his descendants. The Martells did not rule on their own; they served for many years as vassals to greater Houses of the region including Houses Allyrion, and Yronwood. In this state, they were a fairly unimportant family when the Rhoynar fled Essos. Nymeria's arrival in Dorne presented Lord Mors Martell an opportunity; their marriage united the Rhoynish and Dornish peoples, creating the House of Nymeros Martell, and greatly strengthening their position in Eastern Dorne. Through Nymeria's War, House Nymeros Martell conquered their former lieges and united all of Dorne under their rule.

The influx of Rhoynar into Dorne caused great demographic change, with many Andal customs being discarded in favour of Rhoynar traditions. For instance, House Nymeros Martell rules Dorne as Princes, not Kings, and female family members were treated as equals to their male counter parts in terms of inheritance. This has led to Dorne having several ruling Princesses compared to the male dominant Houses of Westeros.

Dorne resisted the conquests of House Targaryen, defying Aegon himself and many of his heirs. Daeron I died in the sands of Dorne, as did thousands of Westerosi knights and aristocrats. Utilizing guerilla warfare, Dornish independence was secured from House Targaryen and the Iron Throne. In this time, enmity between Dorne and the neighbouring realms of the Reach and Stormlands continued. Dorne was eventually incorporated into the Seven Kingdoms peacefully with the marriage of Daeron II Targaryen to Myriah Nymeros Martell, as Daeron and the incumbent Prince of Dorne negotiated a settlement whereby Dorne was given special rights and privileges in exchange for bending the knee to the Iron Throne. These included the right to be styled as Princes and exemption from certain royal taxes. The current Princess of Dorne, Myriah, is named for her great grandmother, who united her realm with the Seven Kingdoms.

Since the peaceful annexation of Dorne, House Martell has remained keenly loyal to the Targaryen King's, including throughout the repeated Blackfyre Rebellions.

She has no desire to go to Westeros, instead preferring to remain in the Blackfyre's villa in Volantis, behind the Black Walls, where she has all she could ever want.
• Relon Draytis, His Cousin (43): A Blackfyre through the female line, being the son of Aerea Blackfyre and a Pentoshi merchant prince, Relon nonetheless considers himself as much a Blackfyre despite his lack of the name as Daemon IV, and his appearance backs his claim with his silver hair but having green eyes. A learned, studious and intelligent man, Relon serves as Daemon IV's advisor, is the Golden Company's Paymaster and negotiated the deal with Alequo Adarys for his ships.

• Aegor II Bittersteel (58): Bittersteel's second and only surviving son, a greying bearded man who has numerous scars from all the battles he has fought with the Golden Company across the Disputed Lands. A close friend of Daemon IV, a capable fighter and a veteran of the Third Blackfyre Rebellion as his father's squire and the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion, which he only narrowly escaped across the Narrow Sea from, Aegor intends to finish what his father started and see a Blackfyre sit the Iron Throne. The most capable fighter among the Golden Company and Daemon IV's court, better than his father or Daemon the Younger, Aenys would much rather stay and fight in the Disputed Lands for coin to spend on whatever he wishes, not fight for lands he has never seen and titles that are meaningless to him. Daemon V's sworn sword, and a close friend and to a lesser degree, mentor. A serjeant of the Golden Company.
• Ser Derrick Fossoway, 'the Bad Apple' (31): A knight of black reputation with hair to match and brown eyes. Born to the 'Red-Apple' Fossoways as a third son, Derrick was exiled following his murder of his elder brother, the Lord of Cider Hall, during a tourney as part of a plot to take the lands for himself. Aligning himself with the Blackfyres to retake his claimed rightful lands, he is a fearsome fighter, second only to Aenys with a sword and better with a lance, but is quarrelsome and prone to drink. A serjeant of the Golden Company.
• Spotted Tom the Butcher (36): A former butcher from White Harbour, 'Spotted Tom', so called for his spot-ridden face and the spotted cat upon his shield, was exiled from Westeros for the crime of poaching on Lord Manderly's lands to get meat to butcher and sell. Enlisting in a small mercenary company, Spotted Tom after a decade of service would come to command the company, renaming it to the Company of the Cat for his shield. Coming to the notice of Daemon IV after a battle in the Disputed Lands, Spotted Tom and his small company of a few hundred warriors attatched themselves to the Blackfyre cause. Balding with green eyes.
• Liomond Lashare, 'the Lord of Battles' (64): An old sellsword and close friend of Aegor II, Liomond Lashare is a Tyroshi sellsword and captain of the Long Lances. A friend of Aegor II, although often taking the field against him, Liomond Lashare is said to have never lost a battle without winning the war with his defeat. An extremely experienced and capable commander. His grey hair is usually dyed a vibrant green to match his eyes.
• Uther Peake (34): A brown-haired man with a bushy beard and a scar over a missing eye, Uther Peake is the grandson of Gormon Peake, who died in the Second Blackfyre Rebellion. Seeking the return of his family's lands, castles and prominence through a Blackfyre restoration, Uther is a loyal and zealous supporter of the Blackfyre cause. A serjeant of the Golden Company.
• Marq Toyne (29): A thin man with a crooked nose and jaw and dirty blonde hair, Marq Toyne follows the legacy of his father in his support for the Blackfyre cause, desiring to reclaim the lands lost under the reign of Aegon IV promised to his grandfather by Daemon I. An experienced fighter and commander, Marq is one of the serjeants of the Golden Company.
• Roy Strickland (27): A balding man with a big round head and grey eyes, Roy Strickland is the grandson of Will Strickland, who fought for the Blackfyres in the First Blackfyre Rebellion and lost his house's lands for it. A cautious, nervous man, Roy is a serjeant of the Golden Company.
• Alequo Adarys, 'the Silvertongue' (47): A Tyroshi merchant prince of a particularly ruthless nature, Alequo Adarys dyes his hair silver and has deep blue eyes. Alequo supports the Blackfyre cause not for land, but for wealth, with Daemon IV offering him some fifty thousand gold dragons for safe passage to Westeros on his fleet, to be paid along with more wealth and lands after his victory. Reluctantly, he is accompanying them to ensure his investment is both worthwhile and successful.

Military Strength: 10,000 men, the vast majority being from the Golden Company with smaller groups from the Company of the Cat and the Long Lances. The Golden Company is a force of highly-experienced, disciplined and well-equipped professional mercenaries hailing from Westeros, formed around a core of Westerosi exiles but including significant numbers of recruits from Lys, Myr and Tyrosh. The Company can muster around five hundred knights armed and armoured in the Westerosi fashion and another 500 squires as lighter cavalry, two-dozen elephants and a thousand archers, split between Myrish crossbowmen and Westerosi archers. The bulk of the company is its heavy infantry, heavily armoured in mail, plate and carrying long spears and large shields, numbering 6,800 strong. The Company of the Cat brings five hundred pike and the Long Lances bring seven hundred light horse.
History of the House:

The history of House Blackfyre is one of exile, rebellion and stubbornness. Following the exile of House Blackfyre at the end of the First Blackfyre Rebellion, Aegor Rivers led the surviving Blackfyres, the oldest only seven to Tyrosh where they found safety and sanctuary with Rohanne of Tyrosh's father, the Archon of Tyrosh. Under his protection, and tutored by their mother and Aegor, the next generation of Blackfyres was taught of their birthright, how it was stolen, and the importance of its reclaimation. To hold the exiled Westerosi together, Aegor founded the Golden Company, an army that would become the core of the Blackfyre Rebellions.

They would try again, repeatedly. The Second Blackfyre Rebellion aimed to achieve through subtlety and conspiracy what force could not. Using a tourney at Whitewalls to gather many Blackfyre loyalists that still held sympathy to the cause or simply wished to regain what they had lost in the First, Daemon II aimed to raise an army at Whitewalls from former supporters and march on King's Landing, to be reinforced by the Golden Company landing near Duskendale. But the Hand of the King, or the Master of Whispers or *someone* learned of the plot and thwarted it before it even began, and Daemon II was imprisoned beneath the Red Keep for another three years until his death in 219.

Hearing of the death of his brother, Haegon crowned himself as the newest Blackfyre pretender and invaded Westeros at the head of the Golden Company. The invasion, which landed on Massey's Hook, ended with Haegon and his younger brother Aenys both slain in battle and Aegor and the new Blackfyre pretender, Daemon III Blackfyre, Haegon's son, fleeing back across the Narrow Sea. Daemon III Blackfyre would die during the Siege of Myr while with the Golden Company, and so the title passed to Daeron I Blackfyre. Ever an eager and impetuous man, Daeron led the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion in 233 which was crushed shortly after landing at Massey's Hook, seeing almost no support from the lords of Westeros other than the rebellion of House Peake in the Reach.

Finally the title of pretender to the seventh of Daemon I's seven sons, Aeron. Never having seen Westeros, and only knowing it through stories and seeing his elder brothers repeated defeats, Aeron instead determined that the Blackfyre cause would have to wait. Instead, he moved to Volantis, where he married into the Volantine Old Blood and ingratiated himself into the court politics of the city, building up wealth and connections and maintaining a close relationship with Aegor Rivers as a father figure of sorts and raising Aegor's son, Aegor II, when Aegor was on campaign.

Aeron died in 255, and his son, Daemon IV, became the Blackfyre Pretender. Having served with the Golden Company and eventually become Captain-General, and with Aeron's work in building up a Blackfyre powerbase in Essos, Daemon IV led the Blackfyre cause at its strongest for decades. Rather than invading immediately, Daemon instead adopted his father's approach of patience, gathering more Westerosi exiles and Essosi sellswords and recruiting his cousin, Relon Draytis, to find him a fleet to bring his host across the Narrow Sea. His patience was eventually rewarded.

The Tragedy at Summerhall scythed through the ranks of the Targaryens. With Rhaella Targaryen left as heir, and already facing a potential rival in Aegon Targaryen, the legitimised bastard son of Daeron Targaryen, the time seemed ripe for a Fifth, and hopefully final, Blackfyre Rebellion.

Looks good, although I believe Quendi plans for Aegon to have been a legitimate son of Daeron, just that Daeron married a commoner for love. We can wait for Quendi to verify though.

Yes, I think this is what was agreed upon. Its funny about Daeron; the World of Ice and Fire identifies him as being gay and in a relationship with Jeremy Norridge but Ser Barristan remembers all of Aegon V's children marrying for love so there is a discrepancy there. I was thinking maybe we can have Daeron outlive Jeremy Norridge (who in GRRM's timeline died alongside Daeron in 251) and then maybe marry Ser Jeremy's sister (who is not strictly speaking lowborn but from a house of dubious distinction), and be sufficiently fluid in his sexuality to produce Aegon before dying himself at or before Summerhall.

Hi there, I have a provisional application for House Stark handy. I believe I've RPed with some of you a long time ago. Would love to jump back in to the game after seeing House of the Dragon.

Did my homework to try and sync up canon characters with changes, and I left Errold Stark's current disposition as a placeholder in case he could be a candidate to be Kingsguard (or Small Council). Also open to making changes that fit with feudal society, such as lady companions, fostering, marriages, etc.

House Leader/Lord: Lord Artos "Art" Stark of Winterfell (39): With a long face, grey eyes, and often a dour disposition, Artos Stark has spent nearly three decades sewing the north up tightly under his rule. First blooded against wildlings alongside bannermen such as the Umbers and Boltons, he's worked to develop the Stark system of powerful personal relationships with the northern nobility and landed gentry. It was his father, Artos the Elder, who organized his betrothal to Bethany Redwyne. But it was Art who arranged the marriages of his siblings, however, securing valuable connections with important northern houses. In his youth he was an ardent reader, and has maintained that habit with a particular interest in history. The study of recent history has possibly soured his feelings towards House Targaryen, with its constant civil wars. He has maintained an open house policy towards his bannermen, hosting many of them and their children for months or years at a time.

As a young squire he fought alongside Ser Duncan the Tall in the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion, but left with a distaste for House Targaryen in its weakness over suffering another such revolt. Close to Artos, he has been favoured with the creation of a lordship: Moat Cailin. The dowry from his marriage into House Manderly has helped the renovations his father began, turning his seat from simply a deathtrap to a formidable stronghold in its own right. His household is small, and his family spend as much time in White Harbor as they do at the Moat.

• Errold Stark, Uncle of Lord Artos (56), Kingsguard to Jaehaerys II: The first lord of Salt Harbor, Errold Stark was sent south by the young lord to act as an envoy to the court of King Aegon V. He brought his wife, sons and nephew Brandon with him to attend court while he plead Lord Artos' requests for the return of the New Gift, a city charter for Salt Harbor, and royal financing to extend the kingsroad to Barrowton and White Harbor. Errold, his sons, nephew and personal guard rallied to King Aegon V during the Fourth Blackfyre Rebellion. With Errold safeguarding the king's life while his nephew Brandon tore through Daemon III's protectors alongside Ser Duncan the Tall. Afterwards, Errold accepted a place in the Kingsguard out of respect for the Dragon King's valor.

Negotiations have been ongoing for years, and it is rumored that Artos may need to offer the Iron Bank a minority share in return for starting capital. He ordered a survey of the western lands of the wolfswood and rills, marking underdeveloped tracts than can be granted to second sons and men who serve House Stark. This survey work has inspired him to seek for the New Gift's return to Winterfell's control, as the Night's Watch lacks the manpower to fully work even Brandon's Gift. From the arranged marriages of Rhaenys Targaryen, to the brutal Dance, to successive Blackfyre rebellions, rumors have drifted out of Winterfell of Lord Artos' dissatisfaction with Winterfell's history with King's Landing. Brandon Stark, a younger brother and newly minted Lord of Moat Cailin, even went so far in his hasty youth to name his bastard for a Targaryen.

Did my homework to try and sync up canon characters with changes, and I left Errold Stark's current disposition as a placeholder in case he could be a candidate to be Kingsguard (or Small Council). Also open to making changes that fit with feudal society, such as lady companions, fostering, marriages, etc.

We have got a lot of good allies for Princess Rhaella, with the Tyrells, Reynes, and Martells. Hopefully someone will chose to be the Lannisters, and lead the Westerosi opposition to Rhaella, or else the Blackfyres are gonna have a fifth failed rebellion.
