Something else to note here about "finding the other person" is that RP permissions exist for a reason and we could have them in cricket.

I.e. you could post the score 250 (50 overs)-150 (40 overs) and then have something like:

Let my opponent pick how many wickets fell Y/N

I think reworking the scorinator is the better option but there's no reason not to do something that's pretty standard in other NS sports.

So yeah, I'd like to arrange a bilateral series with someone. I know it won't count for rankings points, and in a bilateral RP bonus would be pointless, so this is outside the norms of NS Sport but then again have you seen my roster. Tests + ODIs + T20Is.

Hiya, welcome to NSSports! In cricket, we use the final score from xkoranate to make our scorecards. While there is no automated scorecard generator as such, many of us use this scorecard maker, where we put in the values for each of our players, etc. and let the google sheet spit out the score in a format that is rather aesthetically pleasing on the forums. If you do choose to use this, make a copy and ensure you read the instructions. Other people have their own, personal scorecard makers, so there's no reason why you can't just create your own, while it is completely okay to not create scorecards at all.

So, how you get individual player scores?

You make them up yourself, which gives you the freedom of deciding which players can do well and which don't do as well. Of course, there's nothing stopping you from trying to make something to automate individual player scores if you want to, but I don't believe anyone has seriously attempted that yet due to how tough it would be to do accurately. Another thing some people do is find similar, real-life scorecards to that outputted by xkoranate and modify them to suit the exact scorelines, so if you're not confident enough to create your own individual player scores, then there's always that option.

Posting this in the cricket discussion thread rather than the scorinator one because as far as I know, cricket may be the only sport that this effect affects.

Hi all, after playing around with the T20 cricket code this morning in preparation for a bid (which is still in the works), I noticed something very strange. Although I had made noticeable changes to the code, reversing those changes still produced the same trend, of which I shared to the Discord, but with no explanation as to why what happened did happen. Essentially, as the below pictures show, the style mod a team uses - even if they share the same (such as both +5) - the higher the style mod, the more likely the higher ranked team is to win. In the below simulation, with home advantage off, Maxrankville has, yes, you guessed it, max rank while Noobistan has no rank. Both teams have a style mod of +5.

Image

Meanwhile, in the below simulation, both teams have a style mod of -5.

Image

As you can see here, Maxrankville wins 150 more games with a style mod of +5 than a style mod of -5. With a 0 style mod, the chances of Maxrankville winning is around halfway between those win numbers in 1000 simulations, as you would expect. But it doesn't stop there. Although, thankfully, ground modifiers and weather modifiers are commonly used in place of team modifiers, the below results should still be considered. When Maxrankville has a style mod of +5 and Noobistan has a style mod of -5, this happens.

Image

For the cricket scorinator, that's kind of abnormal, although my tinkering may have had an impact there. However, there is no real explanation for this, when Maxrankville has a style mod of -5 and Noobistan +5.

Image

The odds of Maxrankville defeating Noobistan are essentially equal despite the two having opposing ranks.

Thankfully, this trend does not appear in either of the two primary association football scorinators but whether in cricket or another sport, has this been identified before?

Many thanks to Ko-oren, Quebec and Vilita for helping me with this.

The plan for the rest of this RL year is probably doing T20 signups/tournament in July-Aug, then ODI signups to coincide with the RL World Cup in Oct with tournament in Nov.

Pending Syle's permission, I'd like to share the modified T20 file. I believe it's a result of both of us fiddling with it, but mainly him.

In my opinion the scores this tournament were generally much more realistic. On the downside there weren't many really big scores or blowouts, but certainly for the latter stages of the tournament, this formula seems better than the old one.
