USA- Courts in Texas and Connecticut have ordered far-right conspiracy theorist and InfoWars founder Alex Jones to pay US$965 million for verbal diarrhoea about the Sandy Hook massacre. Die to the fact that the court case has been settled, I have no obligation to say "alleged" verbal diarreah.

The absolute nut case was sued by victims and families of the school shooting for claiming that the shooting was faked, (because you know, it's completely reasonable to attest that so many people are capable of maintaining the same lie). This is the same nut case who was spewing verbal diarreah about chemicals making frogs gay, and makes squillions from his conspiracy theory website, Infowars, where he spews this kind of crap. Jones stated that he's not gonna pay the court ordered payment, which of coarse he's not :roll:

and is claiming that the decision is an infringement on his free speech.

No Alex, no. I am as pro-free speech as the next guy, but you can't go around ruining people's lives by claiming that they lied about a mass shooting. I pity those who take him seriously. Anyways, NSG, what do you guys think?

I agree that he ought to be punished for slander and damages. But to me, this was a clearly politically motivated ruling. Just IMO. How, you may ask? To keep people like him from doing what they do. I'm not just talking the slander here, I'm talking EVERYTHING. All the anti-government stuff they talk about. To me this was a clear indication by someone saying "You people better not pull this sh*t again", and not just in the way of slander once more... if you know what I mean. Shut up or we'll shut you up, seems to be the message.

The system worked but nobody had the patience to wait for this outcome. Because of Jones' stupidity and the backlash against him, YouTubers' livelihoods were ruined as anything remotely controversial was demonetized and delisted. Jones is in fact Patient Zero for mass censorship on Facebook and Reddit too.

This ruling is a sniper shot to Jones' stupid head but all the while our society was dropping cluster bombs all around him. There's a whole lot of collateral damage.

As someone who has been at the butt-end of a lifetime Google demonatisation, and lost my life savings because of Google lying to the government about it, I completely sympathise with these people. (Google owns YouTube). Terrorists were profiting from Google, now anyone who talks about terrorism, even to condemn it or neutrally report on it is demonatised. Google can't pull their finger out their arse to do actual moderation, so they ban key words and demonatisae based on that. God forbid they make a penny less than a trillion dollars to hire people to ensure a just demonatisation policy

$1 billion is the compensatory damages, they haven't ruled on punitive damages yet.

Not letting people ruin the lives of others without consequences sets a dangerous precedent that will lead to the NWO being established by next Friday.

The issue being that for actual damages there needs to be harm that requires that much to fix. 300 million is an insane amount of damages sustained, more then the vast majority of people are capable of sustaining. Even if we are generous with the therapy costs that still only gets you into the first couple million. I expect we will see the damages brought down to the the 20-30 million range.
