Mother and Father and even Parent carry many cultural contexts that exist independently of one's biological contexts.

We are mostly mammalian so that works the same (well unless you're a dragon or are egg laying avian-mammal hybrid like a griffon)

Adoption, altersexual reproduction, and so forth prove that mother and father are not about biological functions especially in cisnormative terms.
