[Draft] Repeal Commend Haiku SC#138

I spotted on the Idea forum that someone write a repeal for SC #138 in the form of a Haiku as the original was written this way, I figured it couldn't hurt to give it a shot and this is what I came up with

I would love Ideas on how to Improve this, however remember a Haiku must consist of Five Syllables in the first line, Seven in the Second, and five more in the final.

Decent effort but lacks execution. Some of the verses do not make sense given you are constrained within the haiku format. Besides, it will be hard to actually repeal this creative commendation.

This is my position as well: A commendation that is passed with the style of being a meme of its target makes sense. If you are writing haiku in the repeal, however, you're signalling that the target has merit, and so much so that it influences where a repeal is allowed to tread and not. So, you're already losing political ground because you are acquiescing to the target's rules and legitimacy (which it is not intrinsically owed).

Unlike Honeydew, I do think that a repeal of 183 has potential viability. Of all the well-constructed and enduring regions, those that add to NationStates' culture, vitality and perpetuation, I'm not sure why Haiku of all places was selected for commendation on the grounds of 1,200 relatively short RMB messages that were functionally posted in a vacuum. Certainly we've shot down more developed regions for commendation, and repealed them with the argument that the author went through too many versions in drafting. So defending this one is somewhat of a nonsensically arbitrary line in the sand.

I think if I were to go about this repeal, I would contrast it with other well-known regional commends, what their achievements and contributions were, and how Haiku's merits do not measure up to expectations. They don't come up too often, but I think the general mindset with regional commends is "how did the region change NationStates", and this one plainly has not. This would be supplemented by how the target resolution makes the case with five RMB posts-worth of content at most (translated into IC language).

The quality of that hypothetical repeal draft will need to be much higher than the draft you've presented here.

The other thing about this draft is that it doesn’t really address the contents of the resolution it’s attempting to repeal.

It, in essence, just says poetry and haikus are not worthy of a Commend which is just the OP’s opinion rather than a solid argument.

Anyway, no support from me. I like Commend Haiku, it’s original in format and should stay on the books.
