Former Director of Defense Intelligence Reveals “Meeting” of Local Political Leaders and Their Foreign Allies

The intelligence of the Saltian Armed Forces has solid information and evidence about the actions of some politicians in this country who often hold meetings with influential parties abroad.

Former Director-General of Defense Intelligence, Lieutenant General (ret.) Darren Tell, who made the disclosure, said the local politicians also received "help and moral support" from the foreign parties.

Speaking in a special interview with the local newspaper, Saltbridge Sun, he, however, refused to reveal the identities of the local politicians involved in the "activity". "I want to say it's solid. That's enough, needless to say. It's just clear that when he was in some countries, we also did monitoring. Who he met and so on. But we don't know what is being discussed. "

"But there are meetings with some people who have their moral support from abroad," he said in the interview. Tell said the military intelligence had strong information and evidence about the meeting from the date of the meeting, the location, and the identity of the political leader involved who held the meeting with the foreign party. "When he was in several countries, we did monitoring. Who he met and so on. But we don't know what is being discussed. But there are meetings with some people who get moral support from abroad, "he said.

According to him, who served in the armed forces from 1970 to 2018, the involvement of outside parties, especially in the elections in Saltbridge, is more useful to provide assistance to parties in the country. However, he said, his party had no evidence that the aid was handed over directly (to internal parties), but information obtained by military intelligence showed that several organizations in the nearby countries had played a role. “… We only get information that some leaders in this country, are very keen to continue their position and strength in politics. They are also given moral support. ”

“That is clear, through the actions of (some political leaders) who often meet with influential parties abroad. That information we got (about the meeting), ”said the former Director of Defense Intelligence.

Climate change, the country is threatened

CLIMATE CHANGE refers to long-term changes in climate that occur decades, centuries or longer. Scientists have found that climate change is caused by an increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere as a result of human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and petroleum. The fact is, climate change not only puts pressure on the environment, but also affects the economy, society and politics. Thus, in the Sustainable Development Goal 2030, 'Climate Action' which is the 13th sustainable development goal recommends immediate action to combat climate change and its adverse effects.

Scientists warn the effects of climate change are now getting worse with various natural disasters occurring more frequently bringing far more serious catastrophes than ever before. The 21st century has seen many natural disasters and the effects of global climate change have also contributed to more severe hurricanes, unusually heavy rains, and extreme heat. Disasters caused by climate change and environmental degradation have deviated from normal and are now increasing in intensity, frequency, and complexity and over an uncertain period of time.

The Global Disaster Report 2019 revealed that disasters are now more difficult to determine the type, location, or area for preparations to be held before facing them. Saltbridge is also not immune to the physical and transitional risks of climate change. The effects have been and are being experienced by the country. The Saltian Meteorological Department confirmed that the effects of climate change have occurred in Saltbridge with the average temperature in East Saltbridge has increased 2.4 degrees Celsius in 100 years. The increasing intensity and frequency of climate-related events result in physical risks and liabilities to the national economy. In the past two decades, Saltbridge has experienced more than 50 natural disasters that have affected the lives of more than three million people, including forced displacement as well as injuries and deaths.

The frequency and severity of major floods and droughts, for example, have severely affected the source of income, especially for the population involved in the agricultural sector. Recorded between 1998 to 2018, the Saltian economy has suffered S8 billion in damage as a result of this disaster. In the period 1998 to 2015, the phenomenon occurred more frequently, that is once every three years, regardless of whether it occurred in weak, moderate, or strong conditions, causing Saltbridge to experience extremely hot weather. According to records, Saltbridge faced this phenomenon 12 times from 1951 to 1998. The years 1982, 1988, and 1997 were the worst records ever experienced by Saltbridge resulting in water rationing, haze, crop destruction, and pollution.

Mining resources: Saltbridge signs a uranium exploration contract with a foreign company

Is the Saltian subsoil full of uranium? there is no doubt. And for good reason, exploitation contracts have been signed with foreign companies in charge of mining exploration and then exploitation. The companies mentioned in these contracts are the Stevenian Union Precious Metal (UPM) and Washington Mining, a consulting geologist company working in the field of the evaluation, acquisition and exploration of uranium prospects in this region

“This agreement announced today securing Union Precious Metal a path to Saltian uranium opportunities marks our first entry into uranium exploration in East Zecrarth. We are already working with the team regarding sourcing new uranium opportunities and I plan to report on developments there soon,” said Marvin Darkclouds, CEO of Union Precious Metal.

“At Union Precious Metal, he continued, we see an opportunity to further develop our uranium profile. This will be accomplished by exploring our existing exploration portfolio, acquiring additional interests, as well as participating in new uranium-focused entities that we can help create.”

According to the information, the existing project objectives have been established and the company is working to plan the next stages of exploration as well as to seize new opportunities as soon as possible. Already, a first step has been taken with the signing of an agreement with the Saltian State, and the creation of the Saltian subsidiary of Union Precious Metal. “Union Precious Metal is to establish a wholly-owned operating subsidiary, to act as a holding company for uranium interests,” we learn.

On the Union Precious Metal website, it is specified that "once the transfer of the newly acquired interests in the Saltian subsidiary known as UPM-Saltbridge Mining has been successfully completed. Union Precious Metal already has uranium sites in Stevencousin and other countries in its portfolio.

DFFA built a fish fillet process factory, meeting the needs of the downstream industry

The Saltian Dept. of Foods, Fisheries & Agrarian (DFFA) drew up a new plan involving the construction project of two fish fillet processing factories to meet the needs of the fish-based downstream industry, especially the manufacture of crackers, thereby addressing the issue of price manipulation by middlemen. The Secretary of DFFA, Brandon Bardolph, said one of the factories involved is currently under construction in Bittenbrook, Manlow, and is expected to be completed this October and can operate as early as next year, while another is still in the process of identifying a suitable site in High River, here.

He said that the two factories involved were each able to accommodate the storage capacity in the frozen room amounting to about 500 tons, with the ability to process 10 tons of fish fillets per day. He informed that so far, there is no fish filleting factory under the supervision of DFFA, instead, the existing ones are only small-scale operations by individuals and the private sector. "fish fillet has an extensive market and is needed by the cracker industry. In fact, the demand for the supply of fish fillets from the East Coast state will increase. Therefore, the planned strategy is to buy fish from fishermen when the price is cheap in the market, to be processed into fish fillets.

"It is then stored and sold when fish prices are high, thereby reducing price manipulation by middlemen. "When DFFA and government agencies appoint a company that is given the role to buy fish and process the contents, it (the company) will make stock. We can buy landed fish and the price will be controlled because there is no middleman involved," he told reporters today.

"In Bittenbrook, there is a lot of fish landing (area) but I want to build the factory in High River with the capacity to process 10 tons of fish fillets per day, involving a construction allocation of more than RM5 million," he said. However, he said, the strategy depends on DFFA's ability to buy fish from fishermen consistently between 10 to 20 metric tons per day to compete with the control of fish prices by middlemen. "The fish we buy, of course, we want to resell. However, not all our fish can be sold, especially small fish that cannot be eaten. "Therefore, we make the small fish as fish fillets to be used in the cracker industry. From the 10 tons of fish we get, (usually) we will get five tons of fish fillet," he said.

Wolfeberg takes over Unity Medic for $180 million

Image
Wolfeberg HQ in Steenburry, Brigketh

Wolfeberg Corp received permission from its shareholders to take over 100 percent of the equity interest in Unity Medic International at a price of $180 million. The company's shareholders also approved the proposal to diversify its business into a healthcare business and the proposal to change its name to Hextar Healthcare. Its Executive Director, Dr. Peter Wolfeberg, said the acquisition provides an opportunity for the group to venture into the healthcare sector, as the pandemic has increased health and safety awareness and created high demand for healthcare products and services in the market.

"By expanding our product offering, we hope to raise our profile in the market. The healthcare business is complementary and synergistic to Wolfeberg's core glove business. "Diversifying business into healthcare is in line with the group's overall growth strategy to venture into profitable and sustainable businesses for the long term," he said in a statement today. He said, as proof of Wolfeberg's commitment to the healthcare sector, the company proposed and received approval from shareholders to change its name to Hextar Healthcare International. Wolfeberg's owner and single largest shareholder, Mr. Scott Hextar said the name change would reflect the group's core business and its efforts in expanding the healthcare sector in the future.

"We believe that Wolfeberg's new identity under the larger Hextar family will pave the way for new growth in terms of markets, networks, and distribution channels, in Stevencousin and around the world," he said. All the proposals are expected to be completed this year. At the close of trading, Wolfeberg shares rose 2.38 percent to 0.43 cents with 1.53 million shares traded.

Anjung Courtyard 2022 – 51,000 units have been ordered so far, 7,682 units have been delivered to customers

Image

When announcing the sales performance for the month of August yesterday, the president and CEO of Anjung Motor, Dr. Aiman Tino also stated that only after two months of launch, the new generation MPV model Anjung Courtyard 2022 has now been ordered by as many as 51,000 units so far.

Bookings for this MPV have already been opened on 23 June 2022, which is before it was officially launched on 20 July. When it was launched, the order had already reached 30,000 units. With this latest booking amount announced, Courtyard 2022 booking momentum is seen to continue to be consistent even though it will no longer receive sales tax exemption incentives for those who book after 30 July 2022.

Dr. Aiman also stated that of all the orders, a total of 7,682 units have been successfully handed over to customers so far. Around 4,000 Courtyards have been delivered to customers by the end of July 2022, and this means that more than 3,000 units of the MPV have been delivered to customers throughout August, meeting Anjung Motor's previous target of producing 3,000 Courtyard units per month.

The Courtyard is offered in three different petrol engine options; Single-Turbo and Bi-Turbo 2.0 inline four-cylinders and 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoPeak V6. There's also a 2.3-liter EcoPeak four-cylinder petrol engine, although this will only be offered in select markets from next year. The courtyard is also equipped with a range of technologies, with several digital instrument clusters and touchscreen infotainment, depending on the variant. The same goes for safety and driver assistance, with available features including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, AEB, and more. The number of airbags is now nine, covering all three rows of seats.

General William T. Otis

Will the government increase defense allocations in the 2023 budget?

Will the government agree to Fallenstorm Armed Force's request that the defense allocation in the 2023 Budget that will be presented early next month be increased to 1.5 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) compared to 1 percent at this point? The request was voiced by the Commandant, National Defense Command General William T. Otis, Army recently, when the issue of "obsolescence" of the national armed forces' assets was being discussed by the media and the public. It was a blow to the government when senior officers of the Fallenstorm Navy publicly stated that between 61 percent and 75 percent of the assets owned by the Fallenstorm Navy were categorized as "obsolete". Some of the Fallenstorm Navy's fast attack ships are half a century old but their services are still billed.

What has the government done or not done to result in the Fallenstorm Navy being categorized as an "obsolete navy" due to most of its aging assets? How long will the Fallenstorm Navy and other branches of the national security service have to rely on half-century-old assets to preserve national sovereignty and security? Until when to make diplomacy the first defense of the country? Indeed, the issue of an insufficient defense budget is not a new issue because it has been around for a long time and is said to be one of the main reasons why our military assets lag behind those of neighboring countries. Perhaps the government does not have the "political will" to spend heavily on the defense sector due to the actions of the opposition who often use defense as their "political ammunition" to attack the government.

However, the opposition will also have no reason to attack the government if every procurement of new assets for the armed forces is carried out orderly, without any elements of corruption, and completed on time. Ok, back to the issue of Fallenstorm's low defense allocation, there is no denying that it is indeed much lower than our nearest neighboring countries. The country's military sector received $16 billion of funding in the 2022 Budget, that is $11 billion for operational expenses while $5 billion is for development expenses. In comparison, the defense allocation of other countries this year is around $65 billion even though the GDP between Fallenstorm and our southern neighbor is not much different. $ billion versus $16 billion? Naturally, we will always lag behind neighboring countries with such provisions.

The National Defense Command (NDC) will receive an additional allocation of RM8 billion to spend next year. The Commandant, of National Defense Command in a meeting with the media, recently said, increasing the defense allocation to 1.5 percent of the GDP will enable the NDC to defend the sovereignty and interests of the country. "In the end, no one else will take care of (national sovereignty) except us," he said. Yes, the question is, when do we want to depend on "others" to defend our own country?

Alternative crops can guarantee the country's food security

The introduction of new alternative plant sources such as yams with high nutrition is one of the initiatives that can ensure the country's food security. Secretary of Foods, Fisheries & Agrarian, Dept. of Foods, Fisheries & Agrarian (DFFA) Brandon Bardolph said the introduction of several new yam varieties can reduce the country's dependence on a single source of food crops. He said the transfer of yam plant expertise to the target group, especially farmers, can also help generate the economy of that group.

In the meantime, he said the challenge of strengthening food security in the face of climate change is the core of climate-smart agriculture research led by the Saltian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (SARDIN). "Food security is one of the main elements supported by DFFA and in the research aspect, SARDIN continuously helps the ministry to ensure the Subsistence Level (SSL) for the country's food is always at an optimal level," he said. Secretary Bardolph said this while speaking at the Agrobiodiversity and Agroenvironment Symposium (AGROES) 2022 here, today which was also attended by SARDIN Director General Dr. Nick von Goftenberg.

According to him, in addition to actively carrying out the development of rice varieties, SARDIN also conducts studies to assess the effects of climate change such as high temperatures and haze on crops such as grain corn, pineapple, and papaya as well as an assessment of insects in the highlands. "The technological research and innovation planned and carried out at SARDIN are to support DFFA and related agencies such as the Department of Energy, Environmental & Transport and other agencies in preparing adaptation and mitigation strategies for the agricultural sector against climate change," he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. von Goftenbergi said AGROES 2022 themed "Agrobiodiversity Driving Food Security" was jointly organized by SARDIN, the Saltian Forestry Research Institute (SaltFORI), and Almeshill Town University. According to him, the symposium focused on food security in the face of global challenges, agro-environmental management in the face of climate change challenges, the sustainability of yam crops for food security and ecosystem management, and biological control for sustainable agriculture. Dr. von Goftenbergi said it coincided with the country's current needs and direction for the agrobiodiversity and agro environment cluster.

"It is hoped that this symposium can provide an opportunity for scholars in this country to express their opinions and evaluate the importance of agrobiodiversity and agro-environment on the scientific stage and discuss ways to face these challenges," he said. At the event, SARDIN also launched the book “The Hidden Treasure - Crop Wild Relative” which describes 25 species of wild relatives of plants found in this country and categorized as species that are less well known and independent in their own habitat.

The purpose of producing the book is to record the details of all species of wild plant relatives that have been collected and conserved by SARDIN.

Image
Westprince Royalmount Hill plantation

Leading solar solutions leader, Astrocorporation Solar, will install solar solutions worth almost $2 million at the facilities of the world's leading tea plant, Westprince, located in Royalmount Hill, Holmdock, and Edgar Height, Pretihouse.

In April 2021, Astrocorporation Solar started Phase 1 of installing its solar solution at the Westprince factory in Holmdock, while Phase 2 in Edgar Height is targeted to be completed by December 2022. With a legacy of over 90 years, Westprince is committed to becoming a fully sustainable tea grower and producer in the near future. Westprince is one of the few companies in the world that grows, processes, packages and markets its own brand of highland tea. The global tea market is estimated to reach a value of nearly US$30.3 billion by 2027 and has shown a CAGR growth potential of 5.6% between 2022 and 2027. Currently, tea is the most enjoyed beverage in the world after water. Post-pandemic, the tea industry has also become the primary choice of consumers who want a healthy natural drink, with increased demand for tea being seen as consumers want the natural antioxidant benefits found in it.

"Only with the right environment can we prepare the perfect tea brew. This is why sustainability is an important part of Westprince's business, accompanied by a focus on complying with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

“We chose Astrocorporation Solar because they have the right experience and technical expertise to support our journey to become a sustainable tea grower and producer in the near future. Investing in renewable energy is a natural next step for us, as this is the company's commitment to continue to contribute proactively towards a positive impact on the environment.

"We are very happy with the immediate electricity savings of 33% seen following Phase 1 of the solar solution in Royalmount Hill, Holmdock. Once both of our facilities are powered with this solar solution, and within 25 years, the resulting positive impact on the environment can be translated into the planting of approximately 500,000 trees and able to avoid the release of 11,000 tons of carbon,” said Montimer Gassmouth, Chief Executive Officer, Westprince Plantations Ltd. Sustainability has become an important focus in the entire operation of Westprince. This achievement demonstrates Westprince's best practices in meeting environmental, economic, and social sustainability for all processes in its tea gardens.

"It is an important achievement for the tea industry, especially for a brand that is synonymous with and closely related to heritage and history in Stevencousin. Be aware that every cup of Westprince tea enjoyed is also an important step towards sustainability - because it is powered by renewable energy. This is a significant market changer and we expect this effort to have a greater overall impact on the food and beverage industry. "As a change-maker for environmental solutions, Astrocorporation Solar collaborates with businesses to meet their sustainability goals. We provide clean energy solutions that produce a positive impact on the environment and help businesses involved to operate more efficiently and responsibly. We focus our efforts on multinational companies that have the commitment to align with the global renewable energy community,” said Rico Fairmould, Group CEO & Co-Founder of Astrocorporation Solar.

FEDEQ sells Emperor Burger to Silverthorn's approved consortium

Image
Emperor Burger outlet

Federal Equity Group (FEDEQ), a government investment arm sold its entire equity interest in Emperor Burger to a Local consortium endorsed by Silverthorn's Holdings Group (Silverthorn's) for $95 million. Following the sale of fast food restaurants (QSR) in Emperor Burger's portfolio which includes Stevencousin and Chandelier Group, FEDEQ sealed a share sale agreement with the Local consortium that was signed by Silverthorn's Holdings Group (Silverthorn's) today. The move to sell is a follow-up to a comprehensive restructuring of FEDEQ's food and beverage (F&B) portfolio. FEDEQ in fact today said the consortium concerned was selected on merit after a thorough sales process was carried out, which has attracted the interest of four local and international parties. According to FEDEQ, the consortium that was approved by Silverthorn's presented the best and most competitive offer in terms of price, financial resources, operational capabilities, and stability of social objectives, including ownership of Local.

"This release recorded a negative gross internal return rate (IRR) of 21 percent and the amount of investment received back was 0.64 times the capital invested through the two funds," said FEDEQ, following this fact. FEDEQ owns 95 percent equity in Emperor Burger Stevencousin and acquired a 100 percent interest in Emperor Burger Chandelier Group progressively in 2017 and 2018. Following that fact, the decision to reorganize the F&B portfolio was made after conducting a detailed review of FEDEQ F&B portfolio and assuming that the QSR trade required additional financial investment and operational efforts to redevelop the range of branches to achieve profitability. "The portfolio restructuring exercise will allow FEDEQ and (its) F&B company, Instant Foodies Group (IFG) to put a special focus on and develop the casual food restaurant segment and confectionery and beverage franchises under various brands such as Bell Pizza's, Snowpeak and ExCafe. ,” he said.

Reviewing this development, the Chief Executive Officer of FEDEQ, Larry Sellforth, said that his party was happy because, after five years of operation, interest sales activities were now running smoothly and trying to realize returns. "The restructuring of FEDEQ' F&B portfolio will allow us to further expand our casual food restaurant business, namely Bell Pizza's, Snowpeak, and our recently launched brand, Farm Beef, as well as provide focus on the development of the ExCafe series," he said. Collectively, the brand casual food restaurant and confectionery franchise under IFG has a combined revenue of $280.1 million and currently has 407 branches in Stevencousin and across the region. With the announcement of the release activity, FEDEQ will collect revenue totaling $640.4 million once the process is finalized and is expected to continue posting exciting financial results for the current year.

Anjung Motor started using solar energy for the factory in Peremba; save more than $5million a year on bills, environmentally friendly

So far, Anjung Motor has not yet given any indication of launching fully electric models. But this does not mean that the national automotive brand does not directly take any steps towards carbon neutrality. Today, Anjung Motor officially announced that its factory in Peremba has already started generating electricity using solar power for operations at the facility. In order to generate electricity from solar power, the factory has already been equipped with solar panels installed in the transit parking space (temporary parking space for cars that have just been completed, before being transported to distributors across the country), with an area of 23.4 acres.

The 22,116 solar panels now allow 2,510 new cars that have been completed to shelter under them while generating electricity. The solar panels that are installed are also of the dual-face type - this means that solar power is not only received from the light directly on the top, but the light that is reflected back on the surface of the car body can also generate power through the face of the solar panel on the bottom. In this way, Anjung Motor does not need to use additional land to develop the massive solar facility. The pole structure for this solar roof is also designed by only using the pole in the middle, reducing the risk of any part of the car hitting the pole during operation.

The facility to generate solar power is provided by Teretak Energy Co. and its associate Kelapa Bayas Solar Ltd. This facility is claimed to be the largest solar facility in Anjung Batu at the moment and is capable of generating 9MWp (Megawatt peak). Together with the solar panels that have been installed on the roof of the factory, a total of 12MWp of electricity can be produced, or 25% of the total electricity used in the factory. According to Anjung Motor, the solar panels installed in this parking lot, it has the potential to save electricity bills amounting to $4.39 million per year, while the panels installed on the roof provide savings amounting to $1.46 million per year. Anjung Motor has actually started taking steps towards becoming carbon neutral starting in 2015 through five phases. The first phase involved the implementation of a Company Energy Management System (CEMS) in its factories and headquarters to assess consumption data. As a result, after two years, Anjung Motor was able to establish an energy baseline in all its facilities that can provide a deeper picture for more efficient energy use.

The second phase involves energy efficiency measures where several projects have been implemented. Among them are the installation of LED lights, the replacement of the cooler with a magnetic cooler, and using the master compressor unit to speed up the supply of compressed air to meet the current demand at each part of the production. This is followed by phase 3, which focuses on waste and water management by implementing a system where recycled water is used for the compressor cooling tower as well as used as supplementary water for the hydrant tank at the Peremba factory. The use of renewable energy such as electricity generation using solar systems is the fourth phase step planned by Anjung Motor. While phase 5 involves digitizing all its energy data in the cloud server to introduce AI technology and Big Data Analytics to enable the company's energy management with forecasted energy consumption and prescriptive measures to reduce energy consumption in all factories and office facilities. In a five-year period from 2015 to 2020, this initiative has achieved energy bill savings of $20 million or the equivalent of 55,000 MWh savings and more than 40,000 tons of carbon dioxide emission reduction into the air.
