Jenna Raven Cup 3/16th Women's World Cup Everything Thread

Welcome one, welcome all to the third edition of the Jenna Raven Cup, also trading as the 16th edition of the Women's World Cup!

The Incorporated Football Federation is pleased to see 24 countries who have decided to send their teams to this competition and help write a new story in the annals of the sporting multiverse. With 24 nations, we will have a double-round robin competition consisting of six groups of four teams each. The group stage will take place in individual nations; all knockout round matches will take place in Sarzonia.

Pursuant to the sign-up thread, the group stage will consist of matches played once per day until a one-day break to end the first half of qualifying. Following that, there will be a day off between the end of qualifying and the start of the knockout rounds. If there is to be a playoff match or playoff matches, those matches will take up the day off between the end of qualifying and the start of the knockout rounds. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout rounds. The four best group winners will receive an automatic bye into the quarterfinals. The remaining teams will compete in a Playoff Round match. The winners of the playoff round will take on the other teams in the quarterfinals.

Should the tie be broken at any point in the above and eliminate one team from the tiebreakers, the tiebreakers will either revert back to the three-way tiebreakers in the case of it being more teams or will revert to the two-way tiebreakers listed above.

OOC Note: Matchday 1 will begin on 2 September. The day off between the two halves of qualifying will be on Monday, 5 September, which coincides with the U.S. Labor Day holiday. There will be one off day between the end of the group stage and the start of the playoff round. If there is a requirement for a play-in match, we will then push back the schedule by a day.

In the heart of the capital of Galliena, Stade Pierre Brunel is the Stadium of Olympique Lutetia FC, a team of Gallienese first division in both male and female football. Olympique is currently the strongest team in Lutetia, despite having a fanbase far smaller than its archrivals, ASL Lutetia. Despite not having too much of a tradition on international football, Gallienese fans are quite loud. Expect for lots of flags, some pyro and a very loud audience. Gallienese women are a common sight in stadiums, even more when it comes to Women's Football. They are usually loud, and their vocabulary is no kinder than that of men. Regardless of gender, expect some unpronounceable words from the fans, including offensive adjectives, suggestions that the participants of the match abandon football and choose certain professions, references to the insertion of objects in certain parts of the body and insults to the family, not only of the opponents, but also of the referees or even the players of the team itself.

The women of Schima Bas made an impressive debut last time around, tied first for least number of goals allowed in the group stage (6), and winning Group E. Wright proved his coaching prowess extended beyond domestics, but failed to progress past the quarterfinals after losing a heartbreaking match against a strong Qasden team that went on to win the entire tournament.

Off the pitch, the team was not without drama, as an altercation between defenders Amira Otago and Gamila Horus after matchday four left Otago with a cut below her left eye, and Horus with a quick flight back home to Schima’s shores. The manager decided to wipe the slate clean, as both players will not be returning to the competition this time. Instead, young Attica Houseman takes over at left back. Untested last cup, Houseman has two years of experience playing for Dos Arbores, and will be a player to watch.

Women’s football in the country experienced a growth in popularity due to the national team’s success in reaching the knockout stage of the last tournament, but the Basian FA has not made any further announcements regarding the future of the women’s game. The Basian Women’s Sporting Association is far from having national reach, although attendance for the Coastal League has risen gradually along with television revenues.

Kioli is coming out of her box more, and has taken a liking to making her presence felt among opposing strikers. Tall and dominating with her presence, the smaller Tame will need to continue to prove her acumen to keep the starting spot.

The defense looks to move forward from its off-the-field controversies while maintaining its stellar performance last time around. Homer Laisa played only two games, but showed enough grit to make the cut. Rita Lawrence possesses a strong ability to stick to defenders, and has shown promise in building the attack. Djamila Farah is an exciting prospect for a wingback, and has a higher ceiling than any of the defenders out wide in the squad, although it's unsure if she will ever reach the high expectations set for her.

We’ve got some new faces here in Bullos and Poker. Bullos has a wealth of defensive acumen, and is a disciplined force in the midfield. She has a strong sense of where she should be on the pitch, and her off-the ball movements have provided many opportunities for club and country.

Poker is more helpful in the attack, and possesses a high level of ball control, though her slight lack of next-level pace prevented her from reaching the starting lineup.

The midfield, as in last tournament, is a key focus for the team, and high hopes rest on the creative power of Jestina Drake, who has become a solid leader in the midfield. Drake scored three goals last time out, and assisted in many of the team’s highlight plays. The last two years have only made her a more solid player overall.

Lots of shakeups in the striker squad! Hudson finds herself out of the starting spot, but will still be likely to find playing time this tournament. Hadi Zion has exploded into the game, and with her 6’2 (1.88m) frame, she’s found it easy to get to balls on set pieces and find the back of the net. Still, she has some inconsistencies in her game, and is working with the coaching staff to reduce her likelihood to be caught offside. Expect the three to rotate regularly as coach Wright fits each of them into his system.

All Hail The Jovannic - Women's Football National Team Roster for the 3rd Jenna Raven Cup (16th Women's World Cup)

The representation of Jovannican Women in Football has currently been limited to two editions of the Olympics, both times not completely covering themselves in glory and exiting in the group stages.

Our biggest win came in our first match, playing in The XIV Olympiad, a 3-0 thrashing of Siovanijia and Teusland. This would unfortunately be our only win in 7 games, as things went downhill from there. A drab 1-1 draw against Eraman, A 2 losses - 2-1 against hosts Liventia and 2-0 to the Royal Kingdom of Quebec forced the Emperesses to look to the next edition for another chance at silverware.

It only got worse in the XV Olympiad, as The Jovannic lost 2-0 to Greater Vakolicci Haven, drew 1-1 with Vdara and came out worse in a sluggish 5-3 goalfest against Kriegiersien.

However, these ladies have another chance to prove themselves, being the first Jovannic sporting delegation to be sent abroad after it took a hiatus from participation.

A simple measure has caught the attention of the sports media this season. The Words "FFC" (with an extra F for "Feminino" or "Female") "Women" or "Ladies" have almost disappeared from all three divisions of local women's football.

This measure, proposed by the clubs and supported by StarLeague, Premiership and FLF, put an end, at least dialectically, to the division between "men's football" and "women's football". From now on, men's and women's clubs will be registered jointly with the Lisanderian Football Federation, without the specific need for a "women's football department".

"Men have never had to play 'men's football', why should we?" - Said US Lesportaise goalkeeper Laura Heynze, a member of the StarLeague Athletes' Commission. - "Small discussions like these need to take place so that more and more people 'get the click' that we are equal to Premiership players."

The football system for women (so named to clarify that it is the "women's system", not "women's football") is made up of three leagues, and only two teams will temporarily retain their current names. Despina FFC and CFF Lesport Belle continue to retain the "shame F", but they are special cases.

The first team is completing the process of absorbing its "brother" club, Despina FC. The merger of the two teams should come accompanied by a rebranding that will abandon the gender distinction.

CFF Lesport Belle, a symbol of an era where women's football still needed financial support at the naming rights level (Belle is a cosmetics brand), has been temporarily rebranded as the B team of US Lesportaise, and its licence should pass to a new team at the end of this season.

Negotiations in the latter case have been moving quickly, as it is a Premiership rule that all teams in the men's system have two more years to be in the women's system as well.

Nickname--since the end of the 1960's the National Team has been known as "The Bees", a period when the team's uniforms consisted of alternating black and gold hoops.
Previous to that time and subsequently through periods in the 1980's and 90's, the team was usually referred to by the county's national animal, the Elks; the women's National Team were always 'Lady Elks' until the advent of mixed gender play, which was revived during the Jenna Raven Cup and there are still numerous mentions of Elks in the supporters song “We are the Gold & Black”, which currently has close to 175 stanzas.

Returning to improve upon their 4th place finish in the last Jenna Raven/Women's World Cup, the Commonwealth of Baker Park Women's National Team will look towards a mix of experience and rising stars in the squad, with Tony Weiss in charge for a second straight JRC/WWC; ten uncapped players plus three others with fewer than five international appearances will look towards 13 veterans, led by Co-Captain Lainey Wadsworth who will be part of her final National Team squad in a reserve role. Amy Reynolds and Alicia Craig will also share the captaincy with Wadsworth--the first time three players will be in the leadership since Colin Riordan had a tri-captaincy for the 1975 International season.

The Queen Victoria Stadium in Ezriquay [capacity 37,475] has hosted matches in two World Cups and two Atlantian Oceania Cup tournaments, with the WWC opener being the 24th time it will host a Baker Park National Team side (19 matches for the men/mixed gender squad, 4 prior BPWNT fixtures). One of the most famous venues in the Commonwealth for memorable sporting accomplishments.

The Newport Stadium [capacity 32,000] is home to Newport City FC, the Naval Academy Football team, the Newport Broncos of the Professional Football Division and is one of the most popular venues for the Baker Park National Team outside of Belle Haven; the United Adaikes fixture will be NCS' 24th time hosting a senior NT squad--the third time for the women alongside the 21 previous men's/mixed gender NT contests.

The Commonwealth's newest stadium [capacity 36,000] replaced historic President's Park as St Leon's central sporting venue. This will mark the third National Team match played the stadium, following matches in Eagles Cup 13 and World Cup 91 Qualifying.

A budding rivalry is building between those nations, both on the club and international level, and the Claws will hope to hold one over the neighbors. In a landmark move, they will share the same jerseys as the men's team as part of the SFF's unity campaign. Veteran goalkeeper Zoe Laguna actually came out of retirement for this tournament. They will continue to play in the fabled, now-renovated Sultan Stadium, with their home game against Drehda on MD2 to be the first game there since it started renovation after th group stage of the first Jenna Raven Cup. The sport of football is the most popular sport in the Ziwana Archipelago. The game has been played since the 19th century. However, in all the years that the sport has been played, there has never been a place for women to play the sport. Several times women's side have been formed over the years but they have been forced to shut down. In the new era of football led by the Ziwana Football Federation (ZFF) which replaced the now defunct Royal Ziwana Football Association, women can finally be involved in the beautiful game. A woman national team has been founded by the ZFF. This team has been formed after trials where carried out in Ziwana for the last 6 months, with the team training together for the last 3 months of that 6 months. INFORMATION

After a rogue Cenian FA member threw the Cenian national team forward in time 20 years in a vain attempt to remove archenemy Andrew Arrowsword from international contention, the Cenian football scene plummeted into disarray. The world-leading Terranean League disbanded, as did the Cenian national team itself. Many players continued plying their trade abroad, but a significant number also hung up their boots. Now that the forsaken team has returned, the Cenian FA reluctantly approved a return to World Cup competition. After a relatively successful WC campaign, and some political changes as well, the FA has grown more receptive to broader international competition. Ceni recently won the U-18 cup held in Gortolekua; with that success, the Cenian FA decided to enter a team in the Jenna Raven World Cup to be held in Sarzonia.

Manager: Allison Swan

Following the U-18 World Cup, Allison Swan — a stalwart midfielder for the Cenian national team — has been given the task of managing Ceni's first foray into the Jenna Raven World Cup, a foray that will determine whether Ceni continues to enter this competition. She has taken some cues from Andrew Arrowsword in managing the team; given that Ceni's female player pool leans towards the defense anyhow, Swan will also play with four defenders.

For scorination purposes, Ceni will play with a +1 style modifier this tournament.

Ceni does not usually play rough, but more cerebrally rather than anything else. The most likely way a Cenian will pick up a caution is arguing with a referee, probably over a very technical or minute section of the Code.

Home Stadium
Ceni will play its home games in the Cenial Halcyon National Stadium, located in the Halcyon Park in Cenial. With a capacity of 85,000, the stadium has an unique roof which is retractable in case of inclement weather, preserving the optimal climate for spectators inside the stadium; the stadium also has won plaudits from national team players who say the stadium is one of the best grass pitches they have played on. Built by the international firm Cityscapes Architecture and Construction, the stadium has connections to Cenial City Airport on Line D of the Metro and Cenial International Airport on Line C, transferring at Broadgreen Station.

When elected as the host of Baptism of Fire 63, the Cenian FA decided to upgrade some of the facilities at the stadium, including the press box and VIP box, as well as installing WiFi access for all seats, following the example of the Alexander I National Stadium. Notably in the history of the Cenial Halcyon Stadium, Ceni qualified for its first World Cup on the grounds of this pitch, defeating Gregoryisgodistan (now South Covello) on penalty kicks to qualify for its first ever World Cup. The Halcyon National Stadium counts itself as one of the greenest buildings in Ceni, making use of solar panels wherever possible, recycling water and heat through its system (so that water used to water the pitch can be used in the toilets, etc.), making use of recycled materials in constructions, and other eco-friendly measures to reduce its energy footprint.

Key Players
Miri Windtide and Ariana Guri-Montague will anchor the defense, as two of the most experienced defenders in Ceni. Each has dozens of caps at the international level; as two of the more experienced on this team altogether, they will provide a crucial mentoring role to the younger women on the team as well.

In the midfield, Sofia Falcón is one of the best examples of a box-to-box midfielder currently playing in Ceni; she will make effective use of her chemistry with Windtide and Guri-Montague to link the defense to the offense and keep the ball moving forward. She'll also serve as a key mentor to Anthea Tyadexo-Pyeredax (nicknamed ATP or TyPy), a budding "builder"-type midfield.

And in the striker's box, despite being only sixteen, Nova Daneraj will take the lead on the offense. As a veteran of the successful U-18 campaign, she knows how to be in the right place at the right time to score goals. The striker and attacking midfield pool is relatively diverse and even in talent, though, so opponents can expect Swan to make semi-frequent substitutions in this area, with Athena Foyner-Evatee (daughter of tennis player Elaine Foyner and midfielder Davalei Evatee, and brother to tennis player Xander) being the most famous among them.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - WOMEN'S

This is the third time that Abanhfleft will participate in either the Jenna Raven Cup or the Women's World Cup. The women's team has participated in a fair few number of World Cups, representing Abanhfleft in all of them, but this is the first time that they will be taking part in a tournament that is explicitly marked as the Women's World Cup. With the Samahang Futbol ng Abanhfleft still somewhat undecided on whether to take part in the next edition of the Di Bradini Under-21 World Cup, the SFA has taken the opportunity to blood players from the fringes of the senior national team in this particular tournament to hopefully get a feel on how the young women of today will perform against the other football-playing women of the multiverse.

GK: Inocencia PENDERGRAFT 24 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas
Inocencia (or Ina for short because let's face it, Ina is much easier to say that Inocencia) is a good goalkeeper by most metrics. However, poor passing skills and the fact that her pace is pretty unsatisfactory in an era of sweepers pretty much kept her rooted to her current club in the second tier of the Fleftic Women's Premier League. She is pretty much expected to stick to staying inside her box as much as possible as she doesn't want her lack of pace to be exposed even more than it already is.

RB: Ilda FAUSTI 24 y/o, Uthilmir United
Ilda Fausti is, for all intents and purposes, a very good defender. She has good pace and can quickly recover from a situation where she might get caught out, and her stamina is in such an excellent state that she can cover the entire right flank for the entirety of the ninety minutes and still have enough to spare. The only thing she can't really do is score a goal, and that's not really part of the description of being a fullback, is it?

RCB: Rose BANE 25 y/o, Uthilmir United
Rose is perhaps the only member of the defense in that under-18 team in the 13th Under-18 World Cup who managed to escape that collapse with her reputation still fairly intact. Her reward for this is gaining a starting spot in the women's national team for the Jenna Raven/Women's World Cup. Rose generally has a good defensive head on her but is still often overcome by the rashness of youth. Age and experience has finally blunted her eagerness, but there are a few moments here and there where she will still go all in on that slide tackle.

LCB: Margo KAHN 25 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Women
On the surface, Margo looks like she's a very good defender, and to her credit, she is. It's just that the other parts of her game are very lacking, to say the least. She can't pass to her fellow center back or the goalkeeper to save her life, and once an opposing player gets past her, that's pretty much the end of Margo's defensive involvement. However, Margo is actually good in the air, and that makes her a threat in set pieces no matter who's taking them, her team or the opponent.

LB: Ashley JAXSON 23 y/o, Xemlice Rovers Ladies
There isn't a lot that makes Ashley stand out on the pitch. She's a good defender with average stamina and adequate pace, meaning that she can patrol the left flank to her heart's content so long as she isn't exerting herself. She can even send in the occasional cross, but don't expect it to do anything but hit the first defender trying to block it, and even then, Ashley understands that that isn't really part of her job description. But Ashley does stand out on the pitch literally as the only player six feet high or above currently representing the Lady Revolutionaries in this tournament.

RM: Whitney ZILAHI 23 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Ladies
Another player whose looks (or more accurately, what her skills look like) are very much deceiving. Whitney looks like a box-to-box midfielder to the casual observer, and it would look like she has the skills to do the job. Her stamina and pace are both excellent for the job of going back and forth between the boxes, and her passing is so formidable that she can pretty much pass the ball wherever she wants. However, all of this hides the fact that she is actually a poor defender. Then again, with an enforcer like Tatiana Tos by her side, does Whitney really need to be that good at defending?

LM: Tatiana TOS 28 y/o, Xemlice Rovers Ladies , captain
Every team worth its salt needs an enforcer in the midfield, and Tatiana Tos is that enforcer. Tatiana was born in the Fhulghamous Peninsula but chose to represent Abanhfleft instead because the Fhulghamous' women's football program is simply woeful, to say the least. This will surely make her want to prove that she truly deserves the call-up to the senior Fleftic team. Five years on and she's still trying to prove herself as she's always been on the outside looking in. Maybe this time, she will finally prove herself to the SFA.

RW: Mae WILBANKS 25 y/o, Riuwiee United Women
Mae might just be the winger that Abanhfleft has been looking for all of these years. She has an engine that can make her go up and down the flanks for as long as she needs to, and she has those pinpoint-accurate crosses in her arsenal enabling her to find teammates in the middle of a sea of defenders. She can even get back and defend in the event of a counterattack; she's just that fast. But Mae is really at her best going down the wings and being a threat from the sides, and if she can't cross then she can just go for goal herself.

CAM: Josefine VITAGLIANO 24 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Women
Another bright spot in that disastrous DBC 48 campaign. Josefine would prefer to be able to become a second striker or a false 9 drifting in and out of pockets of space, and while she is still unable to do that at the moment due to tactics, at least being a central attacking midfielder puts her in a somewhat similar position. Josefine will just have to come from deeper from the field than she would like.

LW: Lily NATIVIDAD 26 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Women
Lily is of a similar mold to Mae Wilbanks, a creative and effective winger with the speed to come back and serve in defense if needed, but just like Mae, Lily is best utilized as an out-and-out winger who sends crosses into the box and provides a goalscoring threat for the opposition's defense to worry about. However, the one downside to Lily's game is that her stamina sucks. After playing sixty minutes, she just falls off a cliff and is barely even a player. But apart from that, she is no doubt a threat on the pitch.

ST: Hiroko KELLERMAN 27 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Women , vice-captain
Kellerman won the Golden Boot in the Fleftic Premier Development League 1 for Rosen City Women with a 23-goal haul in the 2028-29 season, earning her a promotion up to the senior women's team where she continued her goalscoring form with 21 goals for 2029-30, making her the highest goalscorer for the Citizens that season. She earned a call-up to the under-21 team for the 48th Di Bradini Cup, where she was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disastrous campaign which once again convinced the SFA to boycott the Di Bradini Cup yet again. The boycott didn't last for long, but Hiroko herself has become a mainstay in the Fleftic women's team during that time, and she will continue leading the line in the Jenna Raven Cup.

3RD JENNA RAVEN CUP: SO HOW ARE WE GONNA MESS THIS UP THIS TIME?

Hello and welcome to The Football Fallacies. Right, it’s once again time to break myself out of the glass case marked IN CASE OF EMERGENCY since yet another football competition is upon us. What is this new football competition that’s around the corner? I hear you not asking me at all. Why, it’s nothing else but the 3rd Jenna Raven Cup, which also apparently is now the 16th Women’s World Cup as well. It’s probably a similar deal to how the Di Bradini Cup became the Under-21 World Cup as well. Well, all I know is that Sarzonia is hosting it for the third time running, and this is also the third straight time that the Lady Revolutionaries are taking part. But are they finally going to be able to do better than they did the last time out? Because they did pretty poorly the last time out, if I recall correctly!

But let's let bygones be bygones and look at what we've got to look forward to here in the 3rd Jenna Raven Cup. Abanhfleft have been drawn into Group B along with Schima Bas, Soldera, and the Jovannic Empire. Unfortunately, lads, there just isn't a lot that I could tell you about our opponents. I think this might be the first time that we're meeting them, at least in football. I do recall a brief memory of our baseball team playing a baseball team from Schima Bas. I'll have to take a look at Ibrahim Ahmadinejad's blog history and check if my memory is right or if I'm just talking out of my arse once again. Shoutout to the Armored Dinner Jacket, and if you're into baseball just as much as you are into football then feel free to pay him a visit and tell him I sent you. Oi, Ibra! You're not paying me to plug your bloody blog yet, but you might as well get started on that now! Only kidding, only kidding, of course. But if you'd like to make a personal donation to the good old bank account, my business email is right there…

In all seriousness though, there isn't much that I could tell you all about our groupmates. Our first match will be against Soldera, and there isn't much that I could tell you about them except that I've seen them around before. Some people say that they only got into this competition because of some sort of collusion with the Sarzonian federation, but that sounds a bit far-fetched, even for a conspiracy theory. Then we're up against the Jovannic Empire, another nation that's been here and there for some time but not really making those big waves that you would expect of some nations that have been taking part in these things for a long time. And finally, there's Schima Bas. We played them in baseball once, and that's pretty much the extent of my football-related knowledge about them. If we take all of these things at face value, it seems almost obvious that we are going to be the favorites to win Group B. But remember, we are Abanhfleft. Even if we are the favorites for a particular match, I never believe it until the final whistle is blown. Believe me, I've been burned too many times to trust the bookies anymore.

Now who else should we take a look at in the other groups? How about our former groupmates from the last Jenna Raven Cup? The 14 Stars, that country that always seems like they're being drawn in the same group as us, have finally been put in a different group, but they'll have Galliena for company in Group H, along with Muralos and United Adaikes. StrayaRoos, our third groupmate from the last JRC, is in Group A alongside the hosts Sarzonia, the Vans of Qasden, and the old enemy HUElavia. I really hope that Sarzonia, Qasden, and StrayaRoos absolutely trash HUElavia because I really do not want to play against those yellow-kitted bastards in the Round of 16 once again! Saterun, the nation that knocked us out in the Round of 16 of the first ever Jenna Raven Cup (or it might have been the Mike Sarzo Memorial Cup or the Over-50 World Cup, I can't remember) are in Group D alongside Kriegiersien. Let's hope that those two get embroiled in a race to the bottom of their group. I want to see neither hide nor hair of those two teams near my Revolutionaries!

Look, I really wish that I have more to say about our groupmates or the tournament itself, but there really isn't a lot to go on at the moment. It's a World Cup for women, and though our group looks easy, looks can be very deceiving. I don't expect much against Soldera, but I'm pretty sure I'll still be disappointed anyway. BP Women look to take next step

The Baker Park National Women's Team will open play in the 3rd Jenna Raven Cup/Women's World Cup 16 when they face Ceni at the Queen Victoria Stadium on matchday 1, and the focus in camp leading up to competition has been on integrating 10 uncapped players into the squad to play alongside a core of veterans that range in experience from Lainey Wasdsworth (104 caps) to Beth Rossi, who will start in goal on her tenth NT appearance.

Most surprising is the inclusion of Sherwood Forest Ladies star Alicia Craig without her club teammate Ayana West; Manager Tony Weiss explained the thinking of the brain trust at Birkenfeld in electing to split the prolific forward duo up.
"We asked AC if she wanted to play more of the role she plays at Forest than the way we've used her on the NT, which is what Tree (Daniel Pryor) brings to their partnership. Lainey is not going to play as much and we want to get her in the lineup with Karrie (Price) and Ser (Serena McDavid). We want to mix & match and find some more pure forwards who are comfortable in the slot position so moving AC higher in the attack will give us a better balance in rotating lineups over a six match group stage"

The first time cappies come from a cross section of the rising talent in the WNL and the National Conference; Lucy Fallon of Lima City United will make her NT debut at 28 after having been squeezed out by the numbers crunch in defense and will be a rare first time cap in the mixed gender era who has no previous age group NT caps.

With utilization of home and away group stage fixtures, Weiss was able to bring in a few extra selections to get more depth across the squad; having Hailey Reinhart-Zavaros as his #2--who managed the last Wonder Cup squad that included a few of this group's current members--will bring better understanding of the strengths that individuals bring to the pitch.

HUElavia enters the Women's World Cup with optimism and momentum for the tournament!

Once again, HUElavia returns to the Jenna Raven Cup, formally known as the Women's World Cup. Las Amarillas/As Amarelas are coming in with some of the members having been part of the National Team that successfully defended their title in the 16th Independent Associations Championship, along with new faces. For the team and the fans, there are murmurs that this could be a team that can go deep.

Coach Aveiro has been tasked to manage the Women's Team once again, given his success with the National Team so far, and has picked his regulars from the roster that was used in IAC 16, while also picking some more younger players, mainly from the U21 team, to develop them and look into using them for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. Some of the notable new faces for this tournament includes Lacerda, Si, Belluci, Xuan, and Hwangbo.

HUElavia was drawn into Group A with the likes of Sarzonia, StrayaRoos, and Qasden, which is a pretty strong group for the level of talent all four nations possess. There is optimism that while it is a strong group, they can advance to the knockouts if they perform well.

The HUElavian Government, Local Governments and the HUElavian Football Association have negotiated for the venues to be used in the Group Stage, and three have been announced for the three home games Las Amarillas/As Amarelas will play. They are as follows: Estádio Costeiro (78,000) in HUEsilia, Estadio Hueti (63,000) in Jinaqa, and Hangul Stadium (55,000) in Gyeongan. The stadiums will host Sarzonia, Qasden, and StrayaRoos respectively.

Fans will be flocking to the stadiums to watch the games, where ticket demand has been very high, and the HFA has allowed 85% of tickets to be sold to the HUElavian public, while 15% is sold to the visitors to allow their fans to travel to HUElavia.

It may be a challenging group, but such is expected in a growing tournament as the Women's World Cup. Here's to hoping our opening match versus StrayaRoos is a great one!

Memories of Sarzonia - The Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy

With the Jenna Raven Cup being organised by Sarzonia, this will lead to some long term fans remembering The Jovannic's surprising run in the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy, reaching an unprecedented third place and giving our country our first top three finish in a major tournament outside the Olympics. While this was achieved by the Men's team, we hope this ability can be translated over to the Empresses.

This started with a 4-1 demolition of the Busoga Islands, which had a KGB of 16.16, about 8 times more than our team had at that point. Making use of blistering runs through the defence, we were clinical in every opportunity that came our way. The "Portland Final" would be against Melbergia, which would prove to be a much tougher game; both sides would be stuck on 2 goals apiece at the full time whistle, and it would take a moment of brilliance from substitute Sami Ning to bring us to the semi-finals after extra time.

A finalist appearance would be interrupted by Oakwood Landing, who took us on blow for blow, with us coming out worse in a 2-1 affair. While this stopped any chance of a Historic 1st Place. Our 3PPO was against the Cordian Isles. It was merely a formality, but The Jovannic took no chances, blasting three past without reply.

This happened a rather long time ago, but we hope the attacking prowess we showed throughout that competition will translate well to the Empresses as they take on Schima Bas on Matchday 1.
