A deep dive into how good people turn evil...
THE LUCIFER EFFECT
Or, how good people turn evil.
A deep dive into how good people turn evil...
THE LUCIFER EFFECT
Or, how good people turn evil.
This is not me locked up with you...you are locked up with me.
In 1971, Stanford University professor Philip Zimbardo launched an experiment now known today as the Stanford Prison Experiment. 24 subjects, all without criminal backgrounds, psychological impairments, or medical problems, were randomly assigned as "prison guards" and "prisoners" for a one-week experiment. It quickly went awry, as the prison guards started mistreating the prisoners; on the sixth day, the experiment was stopped.
Eight years later in 1979, the Ancorians invaded the Royal Commonwealth, sacking the fertile lands of the Federal Republic of Cagayan until they were repulsed and driven back to whence they came from in 1982. Men, women, and children were all brutalized by the Ancorian horde, stopped only in their southward advance by the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, the city of Tuguegarao at the delta of the Cagayan River, and by the countless brave Palmyrians who laid their lives in defence of the Royal Commonwealth. The Cagayan Valley region, once Palmyrion's prided breadbasket and the regional pinnacle of the food industry, never fully recovered, the area still plagued by Buddhist, Catholic, and Communist rebels.
It is now the year 2022. The geopolitical situation looks dire, with masses of troops at both sides of the Palmyro-Ancorian border. The Royal Commonwealth faces northeast in anticipation of an Ancorian invasion, as they clear the area of Buddhist insurgents and Communist rebels. Stability in the region is now teetering at the edge of a precipice, and it seems there is no peaceful way to defuse the situation.
Faced with financial problems about funding her stay in medical school, a young woman was left with no choice but to join the military in perhaps the least violent role she could possibly serve in: as a combat medic. Two years on in her service, would she learn to reconsider her obstinate abhorrence to violence? How would she swallow the harsh reality that sometimes protecting a life can be at the expense of another? Last but not the least, would she soon embrace - and relish - violence?

Greetings, NS, it is I, Palmyrion, bringing you a roleplay that features a deep dive into one of humanity's biggest questions about moral attitudes: how do good people turn evil?
As per the intention of this RP, it would revolve significantly around character roleplays, but at the same time would also feature your classic roleplaying of troop movements. Your character RPs would revolve around the perspectives of your individual characters, but don't forget: at the end of the day, this is still a military RP, so please roleplay the movement of military assets such as divisions, brigades, what have you.
Here's the application for the RP. This application is mostly for archiving and tracking purposes.
