Depends. I was here last year for the third one. That got big real fast, with over 30,000 players arriving during the first one as far as I know. This looks like something minor in comparison, given it's Tiktok and scrolling past certain videos exists.

Honestly, the first thing that comes to mind (for me) when these sudden spikes happen is how many of them will be deleted and inevitably banned. Because these social media booms tend to attract low quality players. Really hoping it'll be different this time, but since it's from TikTok, my expectations are quite low.

Honestly, the first thing that comes to mind (for me) when these sudden spikes happen is how many of them will be deleted and inevitably banned. Well, also keep in mind that in any of these booms, it may only seem like a higher-than-normal number are getting nuked right out of the gate. In reality the percentages probably don't shift too much. If 1% of all traffic are insta-DEAT rulebreakers, 1% of normal traffic is always going to seem a lot smaller than 1% of flood traffic. The Russian TikTok flood was a little bit of an outlier in that regard, but that may be owed to coming from a less-common geographic region than most of our traffic along with... urm... let's be diplomatic and call it "current global events in that region."

In the interests of accuracy, the Russian-language boom was in November 2021. Russia didn't march troops into Ukraine until February 2022.

True, though the tensions were building well ahead of the actual invasion and it seems like Russia's had a higher-than-average amount of Nazi-flavor rhetoric even longer than that too. Hard to say, especially since I don't know the language/culture particularly well.
