Iranian arrested in violent video deported following tax fraud trial
Christchurch, Drongonia
August 1, 2022 | Isabelle Turner

Image
A still from the arrest video, which circulated widely online last year.

The man at the centre of a violent arrest video has been scheduled for deportation after being convicted on multiple charges related to tax fraud and undeclared income from his Middle Eastern restaurant in Christchurch.

With interim name suppression being lifted, TVDG can now reveal that Kamran Farahmand, who appeared in the video after a drunken arrest in May 2021, is due to be deported to Iran next month, along with his wife and two children.

In the video, which sparked accusations of racism and police brutality from members of the online community, Farahmand accused officers of the unjust use of force during his arrest following complaints from members of the public. Following the circulation of the video, Police defended their actions, saying that "incidents like this that were shared without context often did not tell the full story."

Farahmand was initially charged with Breaching the Peace and Assault of a Police Officer, with the assault charge being dropped by Police prior to trial. Farahmand was found guilty of the charge of Breaching the Peace and was sentenced to 72 hours of community work and ordered to pay $1,756.12 compensation to a business owner for signage that had been damaged during the arrest.

However, following the initial arrest, Inland Revenue launched an investigation into Farahmand's Central Christchurch restaurant, Taste of Arabia. Investigators say what they found was a trail of financial inconsistencies, earnings discrepancies, and a massive under-reporting of tax obligations. Initial estimates by Inland Revenue suggested that the restaurant could have been liable for over $550,000 of unpaid taxes since its 2014 opening, however, this was revised to just over $322,000 in the final case which was brought before the National Financial Court in September 2021.

Following the guilty verdict, National Financial Court Judge Justice Fred Price convicted Farahmand of multiple counts of fraudulent declaration of business earnings, and sentenced Farahmand to 3 years' prison time. The ruling also stated that Inland Revenue was to be paid the money his business owned, plus penalties and court costs. In total, the ruling demanded Farahmand or his restaurant pay over $465,000.

Farahmand's lawyers appealed the ruling but were unsuccessful. Under current immigration law, anyone who is not a citizen or permanent resident is liable for immediate deportation if convicted of a crime which carries a prison sentence of three years or more, or a fine of $250,000 or more. Upon Farahmand appealing the immigration ruling, officials found Farahmand met the criteria on the grounds of the three year prison sentence he was due to serve, as well as "the gravity of the offending on display". Immigration did change the nature of his deportation, however. Initially, Farahmand was due to serve his sentence in full before deportation. However, as his crime was only financial and non-violent, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will attempt to recover the money from the Iranian government upon his deportation, and he will simply be barred re-entry to Drongonia for life.

Farahmand told DNN in an interview that he "has no choice" but to take his family with him to Iran as they "simply will not survive on their own in this country". He also expressed disappointment that "they [the Government] are allowed to be this blatantly institutionally racist and get away with it". Farahmand also stands by his assertion that it was racist members of the public who had him arrested, and who subsequently complained to Inland Revenue about his restaurant. He also referred to the trial as "a massive sham" during the interview.

Preperations for Trinity Day Speed Up as Holiday Draws Near
Fayette, Carolina
Published On: 1 August | Authored By: Quinn Anderson

Amauritans all over the nation are excitedly preparing holiday festivities as this year’s Trinity Day rapidly approaches.
Image
Grills sizzle up in preparation for barbecues across the country.

Trinity Day, traditionally celebrated on 12 August, commemorates the first use of atomic weapons during the First Scinfaxi War on 12 August 1950, which is widely seen as the turning point of the invasion of Earth. Following the first Atomic bomb being dropped on Scinfaxi forces outside of Las Cruces in the State of Mexico, a Scinfaxi retreat soon turned into a rout, as the alien invaders were forced to evacuate their holdings on Earth by 1951, as a result of additional atomic strikes being carried out by the United States, Great Eilean, the Soviet Union, and the Republic of China with Amauritan assistance. Had President MacArthur refused Joint Chiefs’ initial proposal for the deployment of Atomic weapons against the Scinfaxi, many historians agree that Humanity would have been subjugated and annihilated by the Alien invaders. As such, the holiday celebrates the Nuclear Triad that saved Humanity from certain extinction.

This year’s Trinity Day celebrations are to be marked with festivals, parades, barbecues, block parties, and other festivities across the nation. As in years past, the largest celebrations will be held in the Federal District of Columbia, with other large scale celebrations being held in Alderney, San Pedro, Indianapolis, Augusta, and other large cities across the United States. The Trinity Day celebration in the Federal District is set to be one of the largest, as the annual fireworks display on the National Mall is expected to draw a crowd numbering in the hundreds of thousands as it gets dark out. During the day, the National Mall will host one of the largest fairs in the nation, on a scale where expected sales revenues are expected to exceed the billion Thaller mark as fair goers enjoy food, beverages, games, contests, and other events. Domestic tourism around the Federal District is also projected to spike over the long weekend.

If you don’t feel like making the journey to the capital or the nearest urban metropolis, many local fairs and parades are being held in small towns across the nation. As in previous years, many towns and villages have announced well in advance that primary roads would be partially or completely closed off over the long weekend to allow for street fairs and festivals. County and State Fairs, meanwhile, are set to be hosted in County and State Parks across the nation, including the Carolina State Fair, being held this year in Fayette. Local celebrations are often one of the best ways to celebrate the holiday, according to a survey conducted by the University of Carolina, as 72.467% of Amauritans stated they would plan to travel locally over the long weekend, with only a small number of residents, 12.482% of all Amauritans, stating they would be travelling cross country.

Readers should be reminded that Trinity Day is a Public Holiday under Federal Law. As such, all non-emergency government institutions will be closed, including Post Offices and Federal Courts, as well as State government offices, local government offices, State Courts, and Local Courts. Banks will also be closed in observance of Trinity Day, and most stores and restaurants will have limited hours. Any processes and procedures handled online will also not get processed until Monday, according to Federal officials, whether it be through a Federal Office or your local bank. Local Police and Fire Departments are also advising residents to exercise caution if the need to handle fireworks arises, as well as outright telling residents to only allow professionals to handle firework shows over the long weekend. Police and Fire Departments will remain on high alert all weekend, as to ensure that the celebrations continue safely for everyone in the public.

New edicts promulgated by the Emperor!

Postby Imperial Old Mexico » Wed Aug 03, 2022 9:47 am

3 August, 2022
The Veracruz Hidalgo

Emperor Jose-Agustin I addressed the Imperial Senate today and proclaimed the following edicts to take effect posthaste:

1. Divorce is formally and permanently banned and no annulments may be granted without the consent of the Roman Catholic Church in the case of a Catholic sacramental marriage or an active, sitting judge in all other cases. Only cases of bigamy, consanguinity/affinity of blood, non-cohabitation/non-consummation, and fraud may be valid for the purposes of annulment.
2. All marriages must be registered, licensed, and witnessed by at least three witnesses, but may now be officiated by either clergy, judges, alcaldes (mayors), ship captains, notaries, or registrars. Previously, only clergy of recognized religions, alcaldes, judges, and ship captains could perform weddings.
3. Blood tests must be provided prior to the issuance of all marriage licenses.
4. Proof of non-consanguinity must be provided prior to the issuance of a valid marriage license.
5. Marriage between siblings, step-parents and their step-offspring, uncles and nieces, aunts and nephews, parents and offspring are explicitly prohibited, nor may former in-laws marry. Nor may ex-fiances/fiancees of siblings or parents or avuncular relatives or offspring marry. Nor may anyone marry anyone who has fornicated with a parent, offspring, aunt, nephew, uncle, niece, or sibling. Marriage between first cousins, however, is perfectly legal, provided that they are not also siblings or other relations.
6. Same-sex marriage and polygamy remain illegal.
7. Concubinage is legal and so is domestic partnership, though the legal benefits are more circumscribed than those of marriage. No concubine may be a close relative of a spouse or former/deceased spouse.
8. Episcopal dispensations may only have validity at law if issued by the Roman Catholic Church.
9. The minimum age of marriage is eighteen for both husband and wife.
10. No marriage will be legally valid if one or both parties is known to be sterile prior to the nuptials.
11. In all matters of legal doubt or uncertainty, Catholic canon law is the final source of authority.

Parmilo Surpasses Boldonia City in Population, National Population Now Reaches 7 Million.

Boldonia City, de facto the national capital and former largest city, was recently surpassed by Parmilo in population. Both cities were neck in neck with around 500,000 population, however very recently Parmilo surpassed the capital with around 501,000 population. This was alongside a quick national increase from 6 million population to 7 million.
Most of this population still isn't from births however, as the percentage of population increase from birth still sits at 12%. In reality, most of the increase is from immigration from the United States, as Americans still don't require any visas or even a new passport to become a citizen. Certain people, most especially the elderly, are worried about the low birth rate as more and more Boldonians are choosing to forgo giving birth in favor of more freedom of movement and work. Only 38% of women in the nation are expected to give birth before they die, with the rate even lower in the larger cities such as Parmilo, Boldonia City, and North Point.

Aumbura to Conduct First Ever Televised Nuclear Missile Test

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Following an announcement on August 4th that confirmed the existence of Aumburan nuclear weapons, President Leland Friece issued a statement confirming that Aumbura will be conducting the nation's first ever televised nuclear test far off the coast of the Norwegian Sea.

President Friece said that the test is expected to be conducted on August 8th, and that extensive preparations have been made in order to ensure a controlled procedure.

"This test will be done in a safe, controlled manner, far away from any civilization," said President Friece.

The announcement comes amid protests of Aumbura's nuclear arsenal, with massive demonstrations taking place in cities such as Fischer and Freremacht.

Minister of Defense Nikolai Rhubachev voiced his support for the tests.

"Aumbura is a nation that always seeks to move forward, whether that be socially, economically, or militarily," he said. "This is an important moment in our country's history."

With concern arising among some regarding the implication of these tests, President Friece has rejected any notion that the test is meant to signal aggression.

"This is simply about ensuring our nation's security," said President Friece. "Many nations possess nuclear weapons. We simply wish to observe the effectiveness of our own. Aumbura is certainly not a hostile country, nor is it one that wishes to project intimidation."

The test will be broadcasted live on several news channels, including FNN, CSN, and ANB among others.

FUX host defends saying "womp womp" to disabled child turned back at border
Christchurch, Drongonia
August 7, 2022 | Eric Peterson

Image
A still from the segment, which aired on
FUX News yesterday.

Long-time conservative FUX News host Leroy Malinowski has refused to apologise following his on-air mocking of a disabled migrant girl who was turned back at the Drongonian sea border during a segment of FUX News' Primetime current affairs programme. In the segment, Malinowski was debating head of Open Borders for Drongonia Kurt Klein, on issues such as immigration and border security when Klein made the point about the ten year old girl and her mother being denied entry.

Klein stopped his argument mid-sentence to question Malinowski, who doubled down and defended his mockery of the girl by pivoting towards the greater border crisis, and commented that it was "no big deal" that she was turned around at the border, thanking the Customs and Border Security staff "for ably doing their jobs and keeping us safe".

Following the live airing of the segment, critics were quick to condemn Malinowski both on TV and social media, with one commenter calling him a "racist piece of trash." Many online seemed to share the sentiment, with Malinowski being labelled racist over 10,000 times on Peaker and YouTube, according to an automatic search performed by TVDG. Melanowski defended the remark in a Peaker post, calling it a joke and saying "Some peeople really need to chill out. They're acting as if what I said helped get her deported or something."

The incident that the debate pertained to was that of ten year old Samoan girl Angel Fa'alesa and her mother Lusi Fa'alesa, who were taken into custody along with several other migrants after their small dinghy was intercepted by Customs and Border Security staff near the Drongonian sea border. Following the arrests, the girl was separated from her mother for what Lusi Fa'alesa described as "a very hard two days".

This isn't the first time Melanowski has been embroiled in controversy, with the host joking in July 2021 that trans people should "just shoot themselves as soon as they come out" as it would "speed up the process."

FUX News has not released a statement regarding Melanowski's on-air mockery of the girl, and FUX executives were unable to be reached for comment. Melanowski's show remains on the air and he has not acknowledged the incident on his show.

Parliament returns from recess with loaded agenda
Author: Iust́inâne Ḱaḱačó
Sunday August 7, 2022

Image

Tamara - On the first day of August the Agausian Parliament returned from its summer break to begin the autumn session of 2022. At the early hour of nearly 08:00, local time, Chairman Žaḱub Ramont́i (SD) gaveled in the autumn session of the 11th Agausian Parliament, which already has a busy itinerary and a loaded agenda.

This session is the final congress before November's parliamentary elections, and the minority government, with their supporting parties, are hoping to fulfil campaign promises and rally voters ahead of the elections.

The war in Ukraine, a cost-of-living crisis, tax reform, an infrastructure bill, nominating a finance minister and a judge for the superior cassation court, plus a controversial trade deal with Russia are all issues that the Agausian Parliament will discuss in the next few months. "We have to ensure our security and sovereignty, while simultaneously improve the lives of all Agausians. It is our duty to serve the people of this great nation and that is what we are here to do." Chairman Ramont́i said in his speech opening parliament.

The opposition is also hoping to use this time to rally their voters. The second deputy Chairman of Parliament, Daviti Vagt́ani (AL), had this to say. "The government has had their chance to improve things and have failed over and over again. Inflation is at an all-time high and people are having to choose between paying their rents and providing food for their families. This is unacceptable. Let me also tell you this, cozying up to the Russians is no way to solve the problems of Agausia."

Despite the divisions in the political arena, the lives of regular people living in Agausia need to be improved, and this congress has a very limited amount of time to do so.

Homestead Race to Go Ahead, Despite Protests
Astoria, Ogallala
Published On: 9 August | Authored By: John Giordano

Despite ongoing protests from conservationist groups, a Homesteading Race has been scheduled to occur on 1 September of this year in the State of Ogallala, following a transfer of public land from the National Forest Service to the State of Ogallala’s Department of the Interior.
Image
A Field from the recently created Orange Springs Farm in Dakota

As of 9 August, approximately one hundred million acres, or roughly 405,000 square kilometers, of land administered under the Cedar River National Grassland was returned back to the jurisdiction of the State of Ogallala under executive orders from the Federal District of Columbia. Over the next five years, the State has announced intentions to survey and partition the land for commercial and agricultural development. At the conclusion of negotiations between the Federal Government and State’s respective Departments of the Interior, 81,000 square kilometers will be reserved for infrastructure, utilities, and 24 urban areas that will serve as the region’s main commercial and administrative centers. The remaining 324,000 square kilometers of land will be partitioned into individual homesteads of 1,000 acres each, totaling out to 80,000 homestead properties. As per the agreement made between the State and the Federal Government, a minimum of 200 acres per homestead must be forested under the Timber Conservation Act.

Overall, the land transfer between the Federal Government and the State is expected to create enough residences for upwards of 74 million new residents to move into the area, and creating as many jobs multiple sectors of the local economy. To determine who will get to move into the newly allotted homesteads, State authorities have decided to honor a tradition from Amaurita’s Old Western Days and hold a race. Potential buyers who register prior to 24 August will convene in the State’s Capital the day of, and the first buyer to a plot will be entitled to purchase the plot for 16,000 UST, or 16 UST per acre of land. From there, new land owners will be permitted to construct their own farms, ranches, and other agricultural ventures. Mr. Lage Stenberg, who immigrated to the United States two years ago from Norway, had purchased a homestead after a similar event occurred a star system away in the State of Nakota. When asked, this is what he had to say:

”Personally, I think that these types of events serve up all sorts of benefits, especially to folks like myself. I was given an honest chance to get my own piece of ground, and now that said ground is in my name, I get to live out the Amauritan Dream, and pass that dream down to my descendants. To me, that’s amazing.”

Not everyone was enthusiastic about the news, however. Conservation groups have decried recent events, arguing that commercialization is the exact reason why federally protected lands should remain under the guardianship of the Federal Government. However, counter arguments have pointed out that many of these same conservation groups are based in the eastern regions of the United States, where federally owned land is not nearly as common. Analyzing ownership of public land in the United States has revealed that in several western States, such as Ogallala, Nevada, Mexico, Utah, and others; most of the publicly owned land is managed by the Federal Government’s agencies, such as the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, the National Forest Service, and the Department of Defense. As such, issues such as the ones presented in this scenario have a disproportionate impact on the States in the western regions of the United States, whereas the impact on States on the East Coast are not as severely impacted.

Also seemingly to be interested in the internal affairs of her rival, the Soviet Union also publicly condemned the recent transfer and development of land in Ogallala. Mr. Vladimir Sokolovsky, the Premier of the Soviet Union, referred to recent developments as ‘shameful’ in a post from the Premier’s official account on Chirper. When pressed for details, Premier Sokolovsky asserted that ‘land is a commodity and luxury to be available by the public as a whole, not enjoyed privately by those with money.’ Premier Sokolovsky’s account later followed with a Chirp arguing that land should shared by the public at large. President Andrew Cunningham soon joined the conversation, sharing a Chirp quoting Mr. Sokolovsky’s post, with the response: ‘This is Amaurita. We don’t share land down here.’

Electoral Commission to launch probe into People's Front election funding
Christchurch, Drongonia
August 10, 2022 | Anna Stevenson

Image
PF leader and Deputy PM Simon Baker speaking to
supporters during a rally last month.

Parliamentary proceedings were interrupted today as members of the far-right People's Front party left en masse mid-session, after leader Deputy Prime Minister Simon Baker received word that his party was being investigated by the Electoral Commission.

The DEC announced the probe today as part of its months-long Enhanced Openness and Transparency Programme, which seeks to further investigate all aspects of the electoral and Governmental process, following the hire of an additional 150 auditors last year. As part of the programme, each party's funding for the 2020 General Election is currently being scrutinized. So far, only the National Party has been through a full review, with a 51-page report released on Monday detailing no discrepancies or irregularities found with the party's election funding or in-party finances.

Although not directly confirmed by the DEC, insiders believe the discrepancies in the People's Front funding is to do with receival of funds from overseas. Leaks from within the party last year had suggested that several unnamed overseas donors allegedly flouted the $10,000 maximum donation rule, by funneling their donations through multiple channels or using bank accounts of their spouses' or other family members to make payments.

If its found that members of the party had broken the law, it's possible that People's Front could be removed from Parliament entirely, with each of their electorate seats going through by-elections. However, the enforcement of breakage of laws like these is largely uncharted territory for Drongonia's legal system, as there has never been an allegation of this nature proven before. The last time an investigation of this nature was conducted was in 2020, during which it was found that the Labour Party, while having links to China, never received any campaign donations over the legally enforceable threshold from a foreign donor.

Deputy Prime Minister, and leader of the party, Simon Baker, posted on Peaker today that the probe is "Utter rubbish" and "...an typical waste of time and money at the DEC." Other members of his party were less vocal, with no official statements or social media posts regarding the investigation from the other members of the party's caucus.

Very little has been said by other members of Parliament, with the only comment coming from Labour MP Kelsey Smith's Peaker account, reading "If you follow #dgpol you should not be surprised about this investigation. The right is full of corruption. Do you really think the fascists assumed power fairly?"

It is expected that the results of the probe will be available in the coming weeks.

Navy Recives New Toys From Norfolk

Just when we thought Boldonia was done with relying on the US for weapons and supplies, the IRBNF (Independent Republic of Boldonia Naval Forces) recently received a massive order from Norfolk, Virginia. The order includes 2 Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers, 1 Ticonderoga Class Cruisers, and 1 Nimitz Class Carrier. The new Nimitz Carrier, to be named IRBS Hawaii, is ment to supplement the aged IRBS Kitty Hawk and extended the IRBNF's range across the globe.

National smoking ban killed in committee
Author: Sofâ Pavili
Friday August 12, 2022

Image

Tamara - For the third time since 2010 a national smoking ban has failed to pass in the Agausian legislature. On Tuesday the ban was swiftly rejected by the Committee for social protection, health, family and human rights in a 7-10 vote. The vote saw MPs from all across the political spectrum voting for and against the measure.

Agausia is one of the few European countries which does not impose a national ban on smoking. While smoking is prohibited in schools, hospitals, public transport, and government buildings most other institutions are able to prohibit smoking, at their own request. It is common in Agausia to see patrons smoking inside restaurants clubs and bars.

Oldim Nioraže (SD), an MP on the committee for social protection, health, family and human rights, voted against the ban and told reporters why, "A majority of Agausians are not smokers, so imposing a ban on a minority of the population seems undignified. The public is already forbidden from smoking in most public places, and private institutions have the right to regulate smoking as they see fit."

Investigation into Director of the Mint continues

Berlin- Earlier this week in a press conference from the Ministry of Finance building, the Inspector-General of the Ministry of Finance, Clemens Auerswald, announced an anti-corruption investigation into the Director-General of the National Mint, Karl Eichwald. Auerswald claimed that Eichwald used his position as Director-General of the Mint to “skim money off the top” of each batch of new money being printed, and ordered secretaries to fudge the books or lose their jobs. The secretaries are also being investigated for being accessories to corruption.

According the Office of the Inspector General of the Ministry of Finance, Director-General Eichwald was confronted by the Ministry of Finance during his scheme, wondering why production of money was down. Eichwald blamed it on defective printing equipment and requesting funding for more printing equipment. That money then disappeared from official budget reports. It is suspected that Eichwald pocketed the money instead of buying new printing equipment, as no new requisitions were made for new printing equipment by the Directorate-General of the Mint to the Directorate-General of Government Equipment.

Director-General Eichwald as well as 10 of his secretaries have been charged with corruption and accessory to corruption, respectively. It is unknown what Eichwald did with the money he took, as he made no unusual purchases according to the Inspector-General.

Nelson's governance split after election - Labour's mayor vs National's councillors
Christchurch, Drongonia
August 18, 2022 | Anna Stevenson

Image
Mayor-elect Justin Fairbright attended Labour Nelson's
victory party with his daughters Shae and Emma.

The results of Nelson's local Government election have been finalised and a bittersweet taste has been left in the mouths of those on both sides of the political aisle, with a soon-to-be deeply divided city bureaucracy on the horizon.

The DEC certified the results yesterday morning, with Labour-backed Justin Fairbright winning the mayoral election over National's Paul Price by approximately 15,000 votes. It's not all good news for the Labour Party, however, as the city's 20 Local Wards, with two councillors each, were mostly won by National-backed candidates. Of the fourty councillors elected, 20 are affiliated with the National Party, and eight are independents, leaving only 12 seats in control of the Labour Party.

Geographically, the results trend with the income levels of the Local Wards, with the higher-income northern and eastern areas voting overwhelmingly in favour of National, and the south sitting firmly with the Labour Party. Labour suffered its largest losses in the middle-class western suburbs and the central city, however. In the 2020 Local Government election, Labour won all but one of the four western Local Wards. In this election, however, they won only one.

Prior to the election, National only held eight Local Wards, with three in the north and three in the east. Now, they are in full control of both areas. Independents also won out, with only veteran Nelson politician Isaac Brackenfield sitting as an independent prior to this election. Next week, he's due to be joined by three more.

Political analysts have predicted that there may be trouble ahead for the City Council and wider Council-Owned Enterprises such as Watercare and VOLT, the city's water and electricity maintenance entities. Of particular concern to voters is the operation and policy direction of CityTrans, the city's transport management entity which works directly with central Government.

Many of the policy objectives campaigned on by National-backed councillors are directly counter to initiatives sought by CityTrans, such as the inclusion of more bus and bike lanes around the city's motorways, as well as the potential introduction of a congestion charge in some central city areas.

Mayoral Results:
LAB 44.6% | Justin Fairbright
NAT 42.9% | Paul Price
OTH 12.5% | Other candidates

Northern Wards:
NAT 4 | Northbridge, Dalefield Heights, Prosperity, Ambridge

Southern Wards:
LAB 4 | Railside, Bakerby, Windy Beach, Lake Pollen

Eastern Wards:
NAT 4 | Highlands, Lucknow, Dorset, Lakes

Western Wards:
IND 2 | Osterley, Ramsfield
LAB 1 | Westfield
NAT 1 | Amberleigh

Central Wards:
IND 2 | St. Kilmer's, Garland
LAB 1 | Central Nelson
NAT 1 | Point Erran

Ward Totals:

Aumbura Conducts First Ever Nuclear Weapons Test

On the 13th of August, 2022, at 11:23 a.m., Aumbura conducted its first ever nuclear weapons test.

Originally scheduled for the 8th of August, the date was pushed back due to supply chain delays briefly caused by the Marajarbian-Janpian Trade Conflict.

The necessary supplies became available to the Aumburan government on the 11th of August, and the test promptly proceeded.

No injuries, deaths, or malfunctions were reported to have occurred during the test, which saw the explosion of two newly created Aumburan nuclear missiles.

President Leland Friece oversaw the test, and regards it as a great success.

"Despite the delays, everything went very smoothly," said President Friece. "The test was conducted cleanly, and without fault."

Also present at the test was Aumbura's Minister of Defense Nikolai Rhubachev, as well as Aumbura's top general, Hans Roemer.

Rhubachev was very pleased with the results of the test.

"I'm very confident in the abilities of our military, and in Aumbura's ability to defend itself from harm," said Rhubachev. "These tests have only strengthened that confidence."

No further nuclear weapons tests have been announced, or are thus far scheduled, but President Leland Friece has not ruled out the possibility of them taking place in the future.

AmariTrak Passes Receive an Upgrade
Plainview, Altacado
Published On: 18 August | Authored By: Simon Velasquez

The federally owned railroad operator announced that new boarding passes would be introduced at the end of the month, much to the delight of commuters and long planetary distance travelers across the United States.
Image
An AmauriTrak train between Plainview and Henningsdale, ALT

In a press conference on 18 August, AmauriTrak’s Chief Executive Wesley Graham announced an overhaul of the current pass system used to board trains operated by AmauriTrak. Under the currently used plan, commuters and travelers could purchase a day pass for 10 UST, or a one month boarding pass for 100 UST. Now, under the new plan, commuters can also purchase an annual boarding pass for 400 UST, which would allow a pass holder unlimited use of AmauriTrak trains for the entire fiscal year. AmauriTrak users can purchase their passes directly from the AmauriTrak app and scan the digital barcode on the AmauriTrak app to board their train. Pass holders will still have access to all the onboard amenities, including internet connections and dining facilities. The new yearly passes can be purchased by AmauriTrak users starting on 1 September and will go into effect on 1 January of next year.

As of writing, one in three Amauritans are regular users of rail transit to commute, with another one in five Amauritans using the railway system on a semi-regular basis. While AmauriTrak carries the plurality of commuters that use the rail system, AmauriTrak also has to compete with a wide range of rail operators that are both owned privately and by state and local governments. AmauriTrak, however, has one of the best annual boarding passes available in the United States, according to a recent survey conducted by the Amauritan Transit Institute, which is a privately run foundation that studies public transit within the United States and abroad. Furthermore, AmauriTrak is the only passenger line that is legally permitted to carry mail under its current agreement with the United States Postal Service, giving it a unique advantage over its competitors in the transit sector. This is especially handy in more remote or Alpine regions, as mail can easily be delivered via train to post offices that service these communities.

The popularity of the Amauritan railway system and AmauriTrak specifically can largely be attributed to its efficient and extensive service. Every major city, town, and village in the United States has access to a railway station with punctual and efficient service, with trains arriving every half hour on weekdays and every hour on weekends and holidays. Regular service can even be accessed in remote areas, with stations servicing trail heads and ski lifts being extremely common in popular recreation areas. Rail service is also widely popular with nature enthused tourists and locals alike, as AmauriTrak trains that service recreational areas have Bike and Hike Passes, which allow bikers and hikers to conveniently store their outdoor gear in specially designed lockers near the entrances of their railroad carriages, which can be booked in advance on the AmauriTrak app. And, now with the annual boarding pass feature, everyone from commuters to adventurers can get more out of their traveling with the AmauriTrak passenger service.

Opposition presidential candidate leads protest
Author: Valent́ina Bonḱa
Thursday August 18, 2022

Image

Tamara - The scene on the streets of the Agausian capital today could be described as tense and chaotic as more than a thousand protestors rallied against President Aioviḱara and his Social Democratic government. Protesters gathered at the request of opposition presidential candidate Niḱolâ Kasrâni, who took to social media earlier in the week calling on his supporters to occupy the capital to protest the cost-of-living crisis.

As of June 2022, Agausia's inflation rate has been hovering near 11%, up from a year ago when inflation was steady at 6%. Ultimately, despite interventions from both the government and the national bank, nothing thus far has translated into cheaper prices for the Agausian people.

The demands of the protestors were made clear as the angry crowd shouted, "lower our rents!" Standing outside of the Palace of Klementina, Kasrâni addressed his supporters before leading them on a march towards the Assembly Hall, Agausia's seat of parliament. Once there the crowd rallied against the minority government. Kasrâni was joined by several powerful Agausian Liberal MPs including, Daviti Vagt́ani and Aleksandre Umdaže.

With the recent election polls indicating a tight race Kasrâni does have the advantage of being "the" opposition candidate, a role that he has played well. This isn't going to guarantee him a secured win in the first vote, but it could make him a more competitive candidate in the September runoff.

Boldonian Military Starts to Replace Service Rifle

The IRBMF (Independent Republic of Boldonia Military Forces) officially made an announcement today that they are going to gradually phase out the M16A4 as the service rifle, instead replacing it with European designs. Two rifles will simultaneously be designated as the official service rifle, the Steyer AUG and the H&K G36. "We feel that this change will strengthen the ties we have between Boldonia and our NATO allies in Europe." said Secretary of Defense Andreas Williams. The two rifles have already been proven effective in the hands of Boldonian soldiers before, with the famous 1st Naval Assault Division having used it as their service rifle for quite some time. This comes as the Independent Republic of Boldonia Ground Forces goes through a process some call "Euroization" where they start to ethier replace, or start locally producing, US equipment in favor of European equipment. Truly making the independent republic more independent from its former owner.

Hyperspace Route to be Re-Opened
Schenectady, Saratoga
Published On: 29 August | Authored By: Donovan Barnes

The U.S Intersystem’s Hyperspace Route 87 was reopened today much to the relief of many, following a several day closure following several collisions between automated cargo freighters on the Intersystem Route.
Image
The Ramapo Service Station witnessed a large collision which
prompted closures on I-87

Intersystem Route 87 is classified as an Intersystem Minor, which connects the Middle and Inland Star Systems of the Atlantic Region of the United States. Intersystem Route 87, which connects the States of Saratoga, Alderney, Jersey, Guernsey, was shut down temporarily by the the Federal Department of Hyperspace on Thursday after a major collision occurred on the Route in close proximity to the Ramapo Service Station in Alderney between two cargo freighters, and a second collision that occurred on the Intersystem 87 next to the Wanaque Service Station near to Jersey. Both incidents involved automated cargo vessels with minimal crew, primarily maintenance and navigational staff. No crew members from these vessels reported any major injuries, much to everyone’s relief. The Intersystem Route was cleared for reopening late Saturday, after clearing the wreckage from the surrounding space, which would have tampered with navigational computers and created potential for vessels to collide with any wreckage or debris.

Chief Frank Lombardo, who is currently serving as the Chief of the Hyperspace Division within the Federal Transit Police, issued a press release on Saturday afternoon shortly after Intersystem 87 was reopened, in which he thanked the public for their patience as the effected space was carefully cleared by first responders, including the Federal Transit Police, the FTP’s Hyperspace Emergency Response Service, as well as emergency responders from the States of Alderney and Jersey. The Chief’s statement also thanked the Federal Transit Police for the Department’s diligence in responding to the incidents that occurred on Intersystem 87.

The United States Intersystem Hyperspace Network, otherwise known as the I.H.N or the Intersystem, is a well designed and maintained network of hyperspace lanes that connect every corner of the Union. The Intersystem is comprised of Major Routes, which span multiple regions of the Union, Minor Routes, which are contained within single regions of the Union, and Auxiliary Routes, which are either spurs, which are connected to their parent route at one end; bypasses, which connect to their parent route on both ends; or beltways, which create a circular route that connects to its parent at both ends. The longest Intersystems are Intersystem 95, which connects the Maritimes, Atlantic, Capital, Southeast, and Caribbean Regions; Intersystem 10, which connects the Southeast, Dixie, South Central, Southwest, California, and Pacific Regions of the United States; and Intersystem 90, which connects the Maritimes, Atlantic, Great Lakes, Midwest, Great Plains, and Cascadia Regions of the United States.

Another feature of the Intersystem Hyperspace System is the unique numbering system used to denote Hyperspace Routes. For the major routes, odd numbers run north–south with numbers increasing from west to east, while even numbers run east–west with numbers increasing from south to north; and all numbers are two digits. Minor Routes follow a similar two digit naming convention, albeit that numbers ending in zero and five are reserved for the Majors. Auxiliary Routes use a three digit system, in which they share the last two digits of their parent route, with a an even first digit indicating that they connect back to their parent route, and an odd first number indicating that there is no further connection to the parent route available.

Parliament votes against Ukraine aid for the third time
Christchurch, Drongonia
August 29, 2022 | Peter Lord

Image
Russian tanks roll into a town in northeastern Ukraine.

After a tense afternoon session, Parliament voted against the Emergency Ukraine Aid Bill 2022, 68-52, killing off the bill after its third reading and putting an end to the third attempt to get an aid package passed through Parliament.

The bill, co-drafted by several Labour Party MPs, aimed to give Ukraine almost $750m worth of military and civil aid, as well as add legal provisions for the emergency acceptance of up to 10,000 Ukrainian refugees into Drongonia.

Opponents of the bill, mainly from the National Party, slammed it during its discussion phase, with Prime Minister Bill English accusing the bill of "sidelining national security and the will of taxpayers for the chance to virtue signal in front of the UN." Other critics from the party were particularly vocal about the bill's high refugee quota, with Immigration Minister Holly North calling it "...an utter joke, and a massive slap in the face to every single refugee who has gone through the process to come here legally."

Others noted that the bill would fly in the face of Drongonia's foreign policy stance on the war so far, which has been one of near-absolute neutrality. This continued neutrality has not gone unnoticed by other world leaders, however, with New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern tweeting "Drongonia is passing up a chance to show the world it cares and has some morals, really sad here." in reference to the bill not making it through Parliament.

The failure to pass the bill comes just days after Prime Minister Bill English and Deputy Prime Minister Simon Baker turned down an invitation to travel to Ukraine to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, citing logistical challenges and safety issues.

Labour leader Sarah Ellice posted on Peaker today that she was "Extremely disappointed at our Parliament's inability to express even the most shallow of sympathy". Deputy Prime Minister and People's Front leader Simon Baker replied to the post with a thread, outlining that "...Drongonia dodged a bullet by not getting involved in a bloody and expensive war for a people we've never met and a land we've never set foot in."

No members of Parliament have expressed their desire to pursue a fourth aid bill attempt at the present time, despite some polling suggesting there may be public appetite for such a measure. Last week, TVDG conducted a poll regarding the issue that asked "Do you support providing non-military aid funding to Ukraine?". Of the 4,651 respondents, 43% said yes, 51% said no and 6% were unsure.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement today reaffirming Drongonia's position on the conflict, stating that "While we wish for both sides to seek a swift and peaceful end to the conflict and the unnecessary suffering and hardship it is causing, during this conflict Drongonia remains, among other things, a neutral party. We are not taking a side in this conflict, and as a result we will not be supplying any aid, military or otherwise, to either side."

Imperial Haiti, as another catholic nation, praises your approach to good old traditional values and will put them again into work.

Also, the Emperor of Imperial Haiti, Charles I Le Grand, has married a noble female from Nachmeriya, Aziza Khuri, now Empress Marie Isabelle I Lagrande at a ceremony in the Holy Trinity cathedral in Puerto Lucía. Also, this has been celebrated with a number of democratic reforms to be explained when they are all ready to be decreed.

Election day in Agausia
Author: Adam Vasilčuḱi
Friday September 2, 2022

Tamara - Today, nearly one week after election day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Regional Development, Tourism and Local Economies announced the official results for the 2022 Presidential election, regional governor elections, and city mayoral elections. The results have been met with mixed results for Agausia's two largest parties: the Social Democrats and the Agausian Liberals.

The results for the presidential race saw no one candidate receive 50% of the vote, which will trigger a runoff election. Simon Aioviḱara and Niḱolâ Kasrâni, who received 42% and 38% respectively, will advance to the next round and face off in the September election. Aioviḱara won eleven of Agausia's twenty-one regions, and sixty-one of the one-hundred-forty-five districts. Kasrâni carried nine regions, and fifty-five districts. The New Socialist candidate won one region and eight districts but did not receive enough votes to secure a position in the second round.

In Agausia's eleven cities the Social Democrats won five mayorships, losing the cities of Didbazari and Odssa and gaining the city of Guzda. The Agausian Liberals won three mayor elections, with the Progressive Democrats securing two and the New Socialists retaining the city of Kalbatono.

The elections for Governor the Social Democrats secured nine governor positions, the Agausian Liberals won eight, and the United Alliance, Farmers' and Greens' Union and the Progressive Democrats all secured one governorship.

With no clear winning party, the runoff presidential election is likely to be highly contested. Overall, the Agausian Liberals saw less losses than their Social Democratic counterparts. With the SDs losing one mayorship and gaining one governor's seat and the ALs gaining one mayorship and one governorship. With both Aioviḱara and Kasrâni so close in the polls, the final outcome of Septembers election will likely be a close race.

Žonasi Blógoslovi to be nominated to Superior Cassation Court
Author: Lečkumi Baksolâni
Saturday September 3, 2022

Tamara - On Thursday the Magistrate Council, a supervisory board tasked with ensuring the independence and efficiency of the common courts, appointing and dismissing judges and nominating judges to serve in each of the three superior courts respectively, announced that they have selected a nominee to fill the vacancy in the Superior Cassation Court. Žonasi Blógoslovi, a 54-year-old judge who has served on a cassation appellate court for nearly twenty years, was selected to fill the vacany.

Blógoslovi's nomination follows the death of Justice Órun Adigazi. Adigazi served on the court since 1997 and was well respected in the law community. Blógoslovi began his law career as a lawyer for the Ministry of Justice before being nominated to the third cassation appellate court, where he served for eighteen and a half years.

On Monday the president is expected to announce the nomination. The parliament will then be responsible for either confirming or denying the nominee. At this time, it is unclear if Blógoslovi will receive enough confirmation votes in the unicameral Agausian parliament. In June the United Alliance withdrew its support for prime minister Nebisḱopa's minority government, and this vote is set to be a test of the social democrat's power before both the runoff presidential election, and November's parliamentary election.
.
With the political future of the incumbent social democratic president in the balance, the current minority government is in a rush to fill vacancies within the judiciary. Although, members of the opposition have stated that it is too close to an election to begin deliberations on major appointments.
