Alright, so if you folks don't know what sint maarten here, lemme explain.
First, we look at the year 1631, the dutch had just built a fort on what would be sint maarten so the dutch have settled but tensions were high with spain were high due to the eighty years war. basically if I had to sum it up spain then stole the islands and then they both became mad and furious cuz of this the border was changed way too many times.
then in 1648 the spanish abandoned it. then the french took over the island in 1795 and then the dutch came back and it was split and half and then it became an island territory in the 80s. but is autonomous like artsakh, the question remains, should it be recognized as a country? and why should or shouldn't be?
