Welcome to the information/OOC discussion thread for the Assembly of Esportiva, the chief legislative body of the Esportivan Union. The Assembly is empowered to pass such laws as it deems necessary for the duties and objectives described in the Treaty of Montfort. It also elects the Secretary-General of the Esportivan Union who, together with the Council of Esportiva, serves as the head of state of the Union and its representative in external affairs.

How are representatives chosen to participate in the Assembly?
Free and fair elections in the respective Member nations will be the procedure for election of each representative into the Assembly using such electoral systems as each member nation shall decide.
The number of seats allocated to the Member states in the Assembly shall be determined by the following:
The number of members of the Assembly shall be determined by population, with one seat allocated to each member nation per one million residents.
No member nation shall be allocated fewer than five members of the Assembly nor more than fifty.
How does this work?
In order to avoid excessive demands on members' time and allow them to focus on NSS events without the EU becoming a distraction, there will be precious little IC discussion on this thread (unless member nations desire it). It will generally serve as a forum for members to post delegations and propose bills.
In the interest of organization, national-level parties have the option of being organized in Esportivan-level parties, which together form Assembly groups. We ask that you fill out information below regarding which Esportivan parties and/or Assembly groups your national-level parties represented in your delegation belong to. If your national-level party(s) choose not to belong to a party, enter None under Esportivan party. If you choose not to belong to a group, please enter Non-inscrit under Esportivan group.
What will bills/voting look like?
In order to put up a bill for vote, post the below information in the thread.

Bill contents: A short summary of the main points of the bill. Try to make it detailed enough that it is clear what the bill does, but not so detailed that members will have to strain to keep it all straight.
Once a bill(s) has been posted, feel free to comment or ask questions. Engage as much as you like! Just remember that we want to allow for a variety of levels of interaction based on how much time people feel they can commit.
If you want to make an OOC comment on the bill, please put OOC at the top of your post to indicate that. If it is an IC comment, please put <Partyname> Official Stance at the top of your post.
When activity check telegrams are sent out, bills proposed in that month will also be voted on. Please answer with how your delegation voted, for example, in a delegation of seven MAEs, 4 AYEs, 2 NAYs, 1 ABSTAIN. If you want, feel free to name which parties voted which way on each bill. Bills must be approved by a qualified majority of 55% of all MAEs, including those abstaining.
